Newsfile Genjutsu
"Illusion Techniques" are techniques that use the chakra in the victim's nervous system to create illusions; an advanced intellectual Ninjutsu. Thosewith special abilities like the Uchiha Clan's Sharingan or those with highintelligence have an easier time executing Genjutsu, since attention to detailis key. The most commonly seen Genjutsu is the simple creation of phantasms —causing the targeted person(s) to hear, see, smell tase and/or feel sensations that are not actually there in order to manipulate them. In other words, Genjutsu affects the five senses, though other application of Genjutsu exist.
There are several way to counter Genjutsu. Because it uses the victim's own chakra against them, the targer can cancel the Genjutsu by disrupting their own chakra flow. This is called Genjutsu Cancel ("Genjutsu Kai"). Alteratively,should they fail to cancel the Genjutsu, intense pain can snap them out of it.Finally, someone else can disrupt their chakra flow for them through physical contact. The level of a Genjutsu determines the difficulty in breaking it.
- Attacking with Genjutsu
All genjutsu techniques require a genjutsu style which includes Genjutsu Link or another D Rank Genjutsu Linking technique.
A target must first be in a 'Genjutsu Link' before one can attack with Genjutsu.
Genjutsu that does physical damage, has a physical component to them (i.e. the illusion of sending several senbon at a target to hide the true path of a single senbon) and that type of genjutsu technique will have damage types that can be blocked or dodged. Genjutsu with PSI damage types, only stun or drain stamina through their illusion.
- Genjutsu Defense
There are 2 types of Genjutsu Defenses.
Link Blocker - Genjutsu perception skills that reveal the link attempt is being attempted and that a defensive measure is being done to prevent said link. +defense/show genjutsu perception - this skill is available to ALL individuals on the grid.
Link Breaker - This type of skill can be used to break an existing genjutsu link on an individual. It is to be used after the individual ICly realizes that they are in the hold of a genjutsu link. Genjutsu Kai is an example of this type of skill.
There are some custom jutsu that can be classified as a Link Blocker and a Link Breaker.
You must ICly realize you are in a genjutsu before you can break an established link.
The victim may +rpdefend a link breaking jutsu once per round to break an existing genjutsu link (you must roll higher than the original link roller). Successfully defending against genjutsu attack does NOT also break the link. The link must be broken with a separate link breaking technique.
