+news Sharingan
Here is a compiled list of news files having to do with Sharingan:
Sharingan (Copy Wheel Eye) is a Dojutsu Kekkei Genkai which appears in some
members of the Uchiha clan. As it is genetic, it is not something which can
be learned. It is theoretically possible, however, for a Sharingan to be
transplanted into a non-Uchicha (as with Hatake Kakashi, and Uchiha Madara).
The Sharingan appears as a change in color and design in the pupil of the
user. The pupils become red, with anywhere from one to three tomoe,
arranged in a ring, forming around the eye's central point. The innate
abilities and the benefit to a Sharigan user's capabilities are greatly
influenced by the number of tomoe that have developed within the eye.
However, the Sharingan is not automatically obtained simply by being born a
Uchiha. The number of tomoe possessed initially varies according the power
of the individual, but with experience and practice, further tomoe may
eventually appear.
* On NarutoMUSH, the Sharingan is a unique Transformation (TF), with unique
costs and abilities. Save for Mangekyou Sharingan (which requires an
Original Skill Application), players may use +news premadeapp to apply for
Sharingan TFs. Like TFs, the previous level of Sharingan must be acquired
before applying for the next level. For example, a character must have
Sharingan I to apply for Sharingan II.

This +news file catalogues the capabilities of Sharingan I, the first level
of Sharingan Transformation.
* Sharingan I is a C-rank Transformation, costs 3 XP & 3 PP, and its user
will possess a single tomoe in the pupil of each eye.
The abilities of Sharingan at the first level are limited. Sharingan I
unlocks the Eye of Insight. This allows the Sharingan user to pick up on
subtle details, enabling the individual to read lips, or mimic advanced
motor skills (like writing with a pencil). While it is said that Sharingan
can counter all forms of Jutsu, Sharingan I has no advantage against
Genjutsu at this level (other than what the user is already capable of).

This +news files details the capabilities of Sharingan II, the second level
of Sharingan Transformation.
* Sharingan II is a B-rank Transformation, costs 4 XP & 4 PP, and its user
will possess two tomoe in the pupil of each eye.
Sharingan II unlocks the Eye of Hypnotism. The first ability of this new
power is being able to see the flow of Chakra. This allows the Sharingan
user to tell if a person is under a Genjutsu, because the person's Chakra
flow would be irregular (though this provides no automatic defense or
prevention against Genjutsu).
The second ability of this power is that the user gains an incredible
clarity of perception, allowing them to easily recognize different forms of
Chakra, though not to the same extent as the Byakugan (+news byakugan). The
Sharingan user, at this level, can perceive Ninjutsu before it is released,
and can predict Taijutsu. However, even with these enhancements, it is
still up the individual Sharingan user to make use of the information, and
to act upon it (that is to say: knowing that an attack is coming provides
no combat benefit — a character must still dodge or block as normal).
The third ability of Sharingan II is that it grants the Sharingan user the
ability to memorize almost any technique that is witnessed (apart from
Kekkei Genkai techniques). The user can memorize Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and
Taijutsu with near-perfect accuracy. This allows the Sharingan user to not
only copy the technique, but it also provides the opportunity to modify the
technique, to create an original technique. See +news sharingancopy for
more information.

This +news file explains the capabilities of Sharingan III, the third level
of Sharingan Transformation.
* Sharigan III is an A-rank Transformation, costs 6 XP & 6 PP, and its user
will possess three tomoe in the pupil of each eye.
The unlocking of Sharingan III brings about the Eye of Outcome. This level
of Sharingan specifically allows for greater insight into seeing an
individual's Chakra network and their muscle tensions, allowing the
Sharingan III user to understand and predict an attack before it is ever
completed. Sharingan III users are also, at this level, able to induce
hypnotic Genjutsu by sight alone. They can also use their eye to break
others out of Genjutsu, by placing that individual in an overlapping
Genjutsu.
(Note: as with the prior levels of Sharingan, nothing comes automatically
with the unlocking of Sharingan III. Characters must still apply for skills
as normal. Having Sharingan III simply allows those new skills to be
acquired.)

This +news files explains the capabilities of Sharingan III Mastered, the
penultimate form of Sharingan Transformation.
* Sharingan III Mastered is a D-rank Transformation, costs 1 XP & 1 PP, and
its user will possess in each eye a paler version of the Sharingan
(regardless of the number of tomoe).
The unlocking of Sharingan III Mastered can allow for consistent,
continuous use of Sharingan (regardless of the number of tomoe). The Clan
Wars originated the need for Sharingan to be constantly used, for shinobi
had to be alert at all times. However, since the Clan Wars ended some time
ago, there a few individuals who have trained this constant using of
Sharingan, and fewer still who need to utilize this ability.
See +transform/show sharingan-iii-mastered for more details.

This +news file explains the capabilities of Mangekyou Sharingan.
* Mangekyou Sharingan is an S-rank Transformation, costs 10 XP & 10 PP, and
it's user will possess a unique form of the Sharingan.
Mangekyou Sharingan is an S-rank version of Sharingan III which will vary
from individual to individual. It has standard S-rank costs, but will have
an additional name at the end of the title indicating something of the
nature of the specialized Sharingan. This a unique version of Sharingan
that is distinct for each Uchiha individual who acquires it. To acquire
Mangekyou Sharingan, a Uchiha shinobi must already have all previous forms
of Sharingan (including Sharingan III Mastered).

The ability to copy techniques may possibly be Sharingan's most well-known
ability. This news file explains what Sharingan is capable of when it comes
to copying jutsu.
Sharingan Copying is the process of observing a technique with Sharingan II
or higher active. Your character must actually see the technique performed
in a scene. Once a technique is spotted, the Sharingan records the
movements and chakra usage of the techniques's owner. This does not mean
that you can immediately make use of the technique; you must still apply
for the technique as normal (see +news SkillApplication) and pay the
appropriate XP/PP cost. The advantage of copying with Sharingan is that it
allows for the skipping of certain skill prerequisites.
If you already have a style which contains the technique you are copying,
you are allowed to skip the general prerequisites for that technique. This
means that it is possible to copy a technique that is higher-ranked than
would normally be allowed, waiving the standard 'two techniques of the next
rank below in this style, and one in the same general branch'
prerequisites. Sharingan copying does NOT waive more specific
prerequisites, for example, since Body Flicker II requires Body Flicker
Technique, you would need to know Body Flicker Technique in order to apply
for Body Flicker II; however, you would not need to fulfill the other
prerequisites if you have a style that incorporates Body Flicker II.
If you do not have a style which specifically incorporates the technique
you wish to copy, you can still copy it provided you have a style which is
reasonably close to the style involved. For example, a sword-based taijutsu
style may be sufficient for copying a spear-based technique. Whether a
particular style can be used to copy a particular technique is decided on a
case-by-case basis at skill staff discretion. However, the advantages of
cross-style copying are different from same-style copying. Rather than
completely waiving general prerequisites, it transforms the style-specific
prerequisites into more general prerequisites of the branch involved —
taijutsu, ninjutsu, or genjutsu. So for example, if you want to cross-style
copy a B-rank taijutsu technique with the prerequisites of having two
C-rank techniques of the same style and one other C-rank taijutsu
technique, the prerequisites would become having three C-rank taijutsu
techniques of any style. As with same-style copying, this does not alter
prerequisites of having a specific skill.
Finally, it is possible to 'partially copy' a skill, using just a part of
it and inventing a new application for it. An example would be Sasuke's
Lion Combo, which starts as a copy of Lee's Front Lotus, but branches off
into a new attack. Partial copying carries no combat system benefits,
however; it's merely an IC excuse to come up with a technique similar to
one you've observed. You must have a style which the technique you are
inventing fits within, and you must meet prerequisites as normal.
(Continued in +news SharinganCopy2.)
(Updated by Clary on: Mon Oct 22 22:11:42 2012)
There are several restrictions to the usage of Sharingan copying. You
cannot copy any technique which requires attributes, tools, or
difficult-to-master skills which you do not already have. This means that
you cannot apply for techniques based on kekkai genkai of other clans, rare
weapons like the swords of Kirigakure's Seven Swordsmen, or specialized
knowledge or skills like Seal Mastery, Scroll Mastery, Chakra Shaping,
Medical Ninjutsu, etc. if you do not have those skills. Elemental
manipulation skills also specifically require you to have the appropriate
elemental style in order to copy them. It IS possible for a Sharingan user
to memorize a skill before they have the necessary prerequisites, then
apply for it as a copied skill once they do have the prerequisites. For
reasons of game balance, it is not allowed to copy skills that are
specifically the hidden techniques of another clan, even if it would be
theoretically possible IC.
Skill copying is limited to attacks, defenses, heals and cures (assuming
you have a medical style), and 'plain' skills. You cannot copy styles or
transformations.
