Fujibayashi Kikyou is a clanless Ninja who has no history of ninja training. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, she has dedicated herself to the ninja way and strives to improve herself. She can be a bit difficult sometimes, even arrogant, but she is generally well meaning- she just has trouble expressing herself.

Background
Fujibayashi Kikyou was not born into the Ninja way- in fact, she had no real interest in it at first. Her father was a travelling merchant who moved from town to town, selling everything from spices to silks. He met his wife in the land of red beans, and she began travelling with him too- she was a talented singer, and would often perform for extra coin here and there. But more than that, she was a very astute judge of character, and helped Kikyou's father with business transactions. When they had a daughter, times were tough. It was harder and harder to travel, and eventually Kikyou's mother settled down with her newborn child in the land of fire- while her father continued plying his trade, hoping to save up enough money to one day open a shop so he would be able to see his family more than once or twice a year.
Kikyou learned a great deal from her mother as she was growing up, but it wasn't until the founding of the hidden villages that she actually began to learn anything of the Ninja arts. Seeing this as a great opportunity, her father returned to the Land of Fire, and with the help of the newly founded village, he set up a general store there. Kikyou joined the academy in the year of its founding, already ten years old, she was older than most students but she took to it quickly. She had a very sharp mind, and she learned the basic skills sooner than some of the children who had come from Ninja backgrounds.
She passed her graduation with flying colors at age twelve, somewhat of a generalist. Her first mission, however, was a disaster. It was supposed to be a simple one- escorting some rich noble. However, the land of fire was still in unrest after the founding of the village. A rogue group of Ninja who opposed its foundation laid an ambush for her team. In the end, they were able to save the noble- but the team's Chuunin commander was captured by the rogue ninjas. Cut off from the chain of command, a young genin boy in the team convinced Kikyou and the other team member to launch a rescue effort. They located the rogue camp after a few days, and things were going well at first.
They managed to reach their Chuunin commander and released him, but they were spotted trying to make their escape. The Chuunin ended up staying behind and buying them time to escape with his life. The three of them eventually made it back to Konohagakure. To this day, Kikyou blames herself for that event, and she aspires to be a good Chuunin like her short-lived mentor. To that end, she decided to focus her efforts on Ninjutsu- something at which she excelled.
She was quite a successful genin, despite her initial disastrous first mission, and quickly began to rack up successful missions. It became clear she had a talent for Ninjutsu that went beyond a simple aptitude, and she quickly picked up many of the basic ninja techniques- mastering explosive tags, tree walking and water walking. At age 13, she discovered her affinity for lightning, and began working on specialist ninjutsu to make use of the style.
When she was 15, she mastered the lightning clone jutsu- a powerful C-Rank technique that was beyond any expectations for a Genin, and the newly founded villages remained short on team leaders for missions. As a result, an executive decision was made to promote her to chuunin on a trial basis, and allow her to lead teams of Genin on missions. She lead her teams to several successful missions, leading to the eventual decision to make her a full-time chuunin.
Since then, she has been working on gathering herself a permanent team- though she remains apprehensive. She doesn't want the same fate to befall her- or genin under her- as what occurred early in her career. Also, since she had been so focused on being a Chuunin she isn't really sure what to make her goal from here.
Personality
Fujibayashi has difficulty with being honest about her emotions, good or bad, which can often have disasterous effect on her relationships. She tends to bottle up deep issues, while over-reacting to little things. This can make her seem unapproachable at times, but deep down she is a very caring person. She has a bad habit of talking down to people, perhaps because her parents are now quite wealthy, but more likely it's just a part of her act. She also tends to assign people nicknames based on traits she observes in them, which could be considered endearing- or annoying, depending on the person, and the nickname.
Appearance
This slender young woman stands at five and a half feet tall, and has a petite physique- a narrow waist, long legs and very modest bust. She has deep, purple eyes and hair of a matching color, worn in a loose bun held in place with a pair of hair-pins. her skin, though slightly pale, is blemish-less save for a beauty mark just below the left side of her mouth.
She wears a short purple yukata, reaching down to mid-thigh, with a white wave pattern around the hem and sleeves. About her waist she wears a very wide obi, pale blue with a white wind pattern. She wears a pair of traditional wooden sandals, and split-toe socks on her feet. About her right thigh, she has her forehead protector tied, while her left thigh is home to a kunai holster- the only reminders that this woman is a Ninja.
