Hatake Saori is a Genin who graduated recently on the merit of her skills being far beyond a normal Student's despite, being incapable of using the basic jutsu that other Students are expected to know to graduate. She is working to make up for her failings, while using her Medic-Nin skills to concoct pharmaceuticals that will accelerate her physical development in order to bring her strength, speed, stamina, and other attributes in-line with her fellow Genin. She has joined Konohagakure's Team 13, aka the Joint Sensor Unit.

Hatake Saori was born in the Hidden Leaf Village in the first year after the formation of the Hidden Villages. She is of the Sarutobi Clan by birth, but her father, Yasei, was of the Hatake Clan, and so she inherited his name instead of that of Mirai, her mother. Yasei and Mirai were both renowned shinobi. Her father was an extremely skilled sworsdsman who survived on many battlefields through his quick thinking and analytical capabilities. Saori's mother was known for her extensive usage of heat-proof equipment combined with Chakra Metal, including gloves run through with Chakra Metal wires, allowing her to essentially punch people with firey fists.

Both parents completed many missions for the Hidden Leaf even after Saori was born, though they tried to make sure at least one of them was always with her so she didn't grow up alone. The weakness she demonstrated from birth was also a factor in that consideration. Saori was an extremely sensitive girl, aware of the world around her in ways that even many adults were not. There was a great deal she did not know, and still does not. But she was aware of her parents' concerns about her, of the way they were spoken of within the Village, and that it was seen as admirable to be skilled at warfare. That for some reason, the people around her engaged in hero worship for those who killed well enough.

Though she has dedicated herself to living up to the standard set by her parents in terms of ninja prowess, this is primarily so that they will not have to worry about her, and because it appears to be what the Village desires. And yet she has misgivings about whether war is really necessary, and she has thus far proven to be physically frail and had great difficulty with handling basic proficiency tests in the academy. This situation wasn't improved by her choosing to focus on several branches of support jutsu simultaneously, spreading her time and talents thin, seemingly in a foolish
attempt to make up for quality with volume. However, like her brilliant father and unconventional mother, there was a method to her madness.

While she continues to be physically frail and her lack of time investment in training her basics left her little better than an academy student, she had already learned medical ninjutsu, sensory jutsu, and identified and begun to develop three Chakra affinities… A series of feats that Jounin might not manage all of without years of training. Further, through this study and practice, a natural talent for Chakra control was revealed. While she had many capabilities at a near-useless level, by using her intensive study and knowledge of medical ninjutsu and mixing of medicines, she intended to augment her training and speed up her physical improvement through chemical enhancements, essentially correcting her frailties from birth not just through effort but also through the application of her mind to the problem at hand. Rather than fighting harder, she is fighting smarter.

Further, by identifying all of her Chakra affinities early, when her potential is still raw, she has saved herself possibly years of training between missions. The Hidden Leaf is full of people called 'geniuses' and 'prodigies'. Saori has preferred not to think of herself in such terms no matter what anyone else calls her. But her parents, having been labelled as such themselves and seen many others fall to overconfidence and ego when their heads became swollen with the praise of others, have not made the mistake of applying that label or placing undue pressure upon her to succeed.

Instead, they see her efforts to make up for her shortcomings in her own way as an admirable course of action, and offer her love and support in the choices she has made. And that is worth a great deal given her eccentric training regimine. In the end, the feat of developing such sophisticated Chakra control as to be capable of Medical Ninjutsu while still in the academy was enough to earn her promotion. But she's going to have to work hard to make up for her shortcomings from now on.

She also hopes that she can find an answer to the question that plagues her… Whether war is really needed in this world, and if there is anything she can do to stop it other than fighting.

Personality

Saori is somewhat withdrawn in the eyes of those she went to the academy with, despite popularity with some of them (mainly boys, whom she wished would focus on their studies instead of her). Her awareness of her environment and other people gave her a very clear picture of their limits relative to her own, that they lacked the ability to think on her level and understand what she intuited. She didn't think that meant others were dumber than her. She was, infact, quite certain that there were many who were smarter than her. But the mental 'wavelength' she operated on was so different from the shinobi around her, students and teachers alike, that she found interactions with them awkward and forced. Ironically, her awareness of the underlying motivations behind people and things, of the hidden
details that people might not even be aware of regarding themselves, left her extremely obtuse about social norms and interactions.

She intuited what happened around her, rather than relying on learned behaviors (despite her parents' efforts to be around her, she still wound up alone fairly often when they were both called away at the same time, but was simply mature enough to take care of herself), and so failed to predict how others could react and view things as a result.

It's yet another thing she'll have to work on correcting over time.

Saori takes her work seriously, trying to follow the rules as much as possible, and live up to the example set by her parents. She does not wish to disappoint them by being subpar as a shinobi, which is part of why she sought an alternative means to advancement when she found herself struggling to perform basic techniques that other students were learning. She comes across as very serious, though respectful, to most who meet her.

Appearance

Saori has short, silver-white hair distinctive to the Hatake Clan, along with pinkish-red eyes. She has a slender, underdeveloped frame and is noticeably shorter than is average for her age. Common attire includes draping, detached sleeves on her arms over a pair of arm guards, sandals with shin guards and mesh leg sleeves, a sleeveless white kimono with a red obi tied with a golden thread, and a large, light-red bow at her back. A black-handled katana is commonly sheathed and stored between the bow and her obi, with white sarashi bindings serving little purpose on a quite flat chest.
