Description
This young man stands just under a towering six feet tall, bearing a rather muscular physique, yet that is not the first thing one might notice about him. Perhaps his most striking figure is what causes him to look more like an apparition than someone one might run into on the street or even among shinobi, his long, unkempt black hair that flows all the way down to the back of his knees. Most of it falls behind him, though some of the exceptionally long locks do find their way in front of his shoulders. The only part that's any bit shorter would be his bangs, which cover the entire upper half of his face, even so much that one might wonder how he sees through his hair at all. The ghostly appearance of the man is added to by his pale skin, which, while only displayed partially on his face, is more displayed by his lack of a covering on his torso. While he wears a pair of blue pants over his waist and legs that seem a bit tattered, he wears no shirt, thus revealing his rather muscular physique, which makes him look even a bit more like a monster in his condition. |

Cousin | Yuuki is one of the first of Yasuo's cousins that he got along with when he came back. She is kind and humble, though she has fallen out of favor with the clan by choosing to marry someone outside the clan and leaving Konohagakure to do so. To ensure her safety, I removed her Byakugan so that the clan has no reason to pursue her.
|
Cousin-In-Law To-Be | As far as Yasuo has been able to tell, Soren is a man of his word and truly loves Yuuki. Yasuo has placed a lot of faith in this man to take care of Yuuki.
|
Cousin | Yasuo and Aru have met only once or twice, though, from what he can tell, she fits the mold of a Hyuuga is expected to be. She's something of a polar opposite of him, but she doesn't seem to begrudge his existence like some of the clan do, which he appreciates. If she asks, he'll help her train and such.
|
Cousin | A member of the clan that Yasuo has only heard about through stories and rumor, Touma is apparently something of a troublemaker for the clan like Yasuo himself. Yasuo would like to meet him some day.
|
Cousin | Another member of the clan that Yasuo has only heard about through stories and rumor, Uma is apparently one of the stronger Hyuga of the latest generations. Rumor is that she perished in a battle against a Kirigakure shinobi after taking out one of their own, but that has never been confirmed. If she's still alive somewhere by chance, he'd to meet and train with her. |

Friend | Yasuo and Kurome have gotten very close after a number missions together. It's hard to say exactly how it happened or what draws them together, but Yasuo is glad to have found common ground with someone.
|
Comrade | Though a bit younger than Yasuo, Hige is a bit further along as a shinobi. Yasuo has a lot of respect for him as a comrade and a shinobi and is glad to call him both.
|
Young Comrade | Daichi is a young Genin with a lot of spunk. Yasuo's sparred with him a couple times and even been on a few missions with him. He believes Daichi will one day be a great Chuunin, perhaps even a Jounin.
|
Kage | Despite Yasuo's issues, Daisuke was willing to give him a chance to be a shinobi and even inducted him as a Chuunin to Konohagakure's forces. Yasuo will forever be grateful to the Hokage for having that faith in him.
|
Comrade | The guy Daisuke pitted Yasuo against in a spar to test him for becoming a Chuunin. Tatsuo's a strong shinobi, more than he lets on to most people. Yasuo's glad to call him a shinobi and comrade. |

Personality
Despite his years in an underground lab, for the most part Yasuo retains the calm composure one would expect of a member of the Hyuuga Clan. He is quite adept as using his mind and the information he can gather with his senses under pressured situations to determine the best course of action for a desired outcome. As was proven by his sacrifice to keep the other children of the clan safe, he is very loyal to protective of his clan, though he is not unaware that they are not perfect people. And thus comes the other side of the coin…
Through his years in that lab, Yasuo became hardened and wrathful, not to mention the madness that the consistent breaking of his mind wrought upon him. While he is normally able to keep that side of himself under control, moments of extreme emotion or danger do have the potential to draw that side of him out.
History
Hyuuga Yasuo was born a Main Branch Family member in the Hyuuga Clan, something most would consider a great blessing of birth. However, it is also brings a birthright of being a target to any hoping to steal or explore the clan's Kekkei Genkai, something that was even more of a threat during the days of the Clan Wars than it is now. Many clans and factions aimed at taking a Byakugan eye or someone who possessed it to raise as their own, but it took a Main Branch member to be able to utilize without the Death Seal being used automatically or by activation to be sure no one succeeded. Before fate turned in that direction for Yasuo, he was quite a happy child. His parents took quite good care of him, beginning his training as early as they could so that he would be able to survive the conditions of the Era of the Warring States. This, indeed, did help quite a bit, as he was able to at least avoid dire injury when battles happened, at least for the most part… One night during a particularly vicious battle, a Kekkei Genkai poacher snuck into his family's camp. As little as he was trained, Yasuo was the second oldest, the oldest being one Hyuuga Yuuki, but, as she was not trained to the degree he was, he was the strongest of the children hiding in the tent, and so he took it upon himself to defend the others. He was able to fight back and make enough noise to draw attention. Unfortunately he was overcome and incapacitated in the process, though he did gain a small victory in protecting his younger cousins before he was taken away by the poacher. By the time Yasuo woke up, he was locked in a cage covered by a large cloth of some kind and bound. It was removed a few minutes later to reveal he'd been brought to an underground lab of some sort. After some talk between the poacher and the apparent owner of the place and an exchange of money, Yasuo was left in this place to begin his new life as a lab rat. For the next several years, Yasuo would live his life under the thumb of a scientist and his team. He was experimented on almost daily to his breaking point, though they were careful not to kill him. Some considered taking one of his eyes for themselves, but it was decided it'd be better to test things in him before using them for themselves. Of course, in his living Hell, despite how it was breaking him, it eventually become apparent to Yasuo himself that he was going to be kept alive for as long as he proved useful in the experiments. If he could survive the experiments and grow stronger from them, he would one day be able to escape… Over his time in the lab, Yasuo was subjected to almost every kind of shinobi experiment imaginable. Chakra amplification, muscle strengthening, flexibility to the point of elasticity, days on end of Genjutsu, hallucinogens in gas form to simulate prolonged Genjutsu that could last for weeks, among other things, were all things he experienced time and again. Of course, in being able to survive, Yasuo also had to be taught some extent of jutsu himself. Eventually some of the scientists wanted to know if the Hyuuga's jutsu could be altered for medical purposes, and so, in the times he was lucid, Yasuo was instructed in medical practice and jutsu. It took quite a while, as the other experiments were still going on, but Yasuo eventually learned the concepts of medical jutsu and was even able apply them through Juuken rather than having to use Ninjutsu, as he wasn't practiced in Ninjutsu or Genjutsu at all. In truth it was sometimes rather difficult for him to even tell the difference between reality and illusion. After he'd grown strong enough due to the experiments, Yasuo began to plot his escape, at least during his lucid moments when he wasn't seeing things that weren't there or experiencing other signs of insanity. He'd planned several ideas out when something finally happened… Another of the experiments managed to break free of his shackles and start a riot. Amidst the chaos and breaking of things, Yasuo's cell was opened. Despite being a bit battered still from the latest round of experiments done on him, he took the opportunity to make his way out of the lab. He'd grown strong enough to fight the guards that blocked his way out, especially with the help of the others trying to escape. All he had to do was make a few precise enough blows and let the others attract attention to themselves and soon enough he was free. At last free, Yasuo has began wandering. He is currently in the Land of Fire, moving around seemingly at random. Perhaps he feels it's about time he was at last reunited with the family he hasn't seen since the Clan Wars, though he wasn't even aware of the unification of the clans of the country before breaking out of the lab. |
Journal
May
It's been so long since I was put in that cell that I can hardly remember a life of freedom, but I never let go of my desire to get out of it. I'm not sure how long it's been, but I know it's been over a decade. My best guess is that it's been about a decade and a half since I gave myself to keep that poacher from getting the rest of the children in the tent that night. I can only hope they all made through that era of chaos after that and are still alive and well with the clan.
While I was traveling, I heard about this place that rose up while I was in the cage, a village where clans that were once at each other's throats now live in peace. Despite my state, I was able to find my way to this place and find a place to rest. After I've rested, I'll find out more about this place and what my clan's role is here.
After resting up, meeting my clan again was a lot less pleasant than I would have hoped for. A medical evaluation revealed my… ailments to them, something they were none to pleased to learn of. They probably would've greeted me with pomp and circumstance if I'd returned whole. What I could gather of the Elders' attitude toward me now is that, while they are grateful that I saved their children from the fate I suffered in their stead, they would rather a madman not be mentioned as a member of the clan… especially a Main Branch member.
It's a bit disappointing to be greeted with such a situation, but I can't really expect any different. The attitude of the Hyuuga on how they handle their clan matters is stationary. Perhaps I can help change things some day or at least be more accepted among them, but I won't have their trust any time soon. I'll just have to forge my own path.
After dealing with my clan, I got to meet the Hokage, the leader of the village. Surprisingly he was a lot more accepting and willing to give me a chance than the Hyuga. I was told to meet him in a training area, where I was given a challenge against another shinobi to test my aptitude as a warrior. Apparently I impressed him with the unique abilities I possess from my time in the lab because I was inducted into the village at the rank of Chuunin.
It's kind of shocking to be given that level of trust. Despite my issues, I take this as serious as one possibly could. Whatever my clan may think, I will show the Hokage that the faith he put in me is not wasted. I can't disappoint him or the others in the village that have been good to me.
After proving myself on some missions, I was offered another chance to serve the village in a deeper capacity today and even be a part of a team. The details of the things we will be doing are not pretty, but that is nothing I've not seen before. If my time in the cage prepared me for anything, it's missions like this. My name will be what was to be in the cage, and I will bear the title they placed on me as a slave me as a free man that will one day return to bring them the justice they deserve… Akumu, the Nightmare.
Perhaps this is not the type of thing most shinobi hope to be doing, especially those in this village that would be considered idealists. I've seen the darkness of this shinobi world, however, in a way most never will. If more darkness must be gone through to ensure the future of the village, I am willing to walk that path in return for what this village has given me.
