Hyuuga Jien is a very talented, prodigious shinobi of the Branch family. He strives for recognition from the Head family, with the thinking that the only way to do that is to prove himself superior his cousin, a Head family member. He is cool, calm, and collected on the outside, though beneath his mask he harbors a great many passionate feelings regarding his life as a shinobi.

Background
Hyuuga Jien was born in the first year after the foundation of the Hidden Villages, to the Branch family of the Hyuuga Clan. He was kept rather isolated from the Main family until he was four years old, when he was branded with the Cursed Seal and thus began his life of servitude to the Hyuuga heirs.
While he has always gone along with his station in life, he has never thought it fair that the secrets of the Gentle Fist were only taught to the Main family - thus, for as long as he has been able, he has been carefully observing the Main house's training sessions, and practicing on his own in secret. Unbeknownst to the Main family, he has taken on quite expertly, and has already mastered several of the Clan's secret techniques.
While he was in the Academy, Jien was an exceptional student. No matter the subject, he seemed to pass with flying colors, leading to him graduating at the top of his class when he was 12 years old. He excelled especially in the areas of ninjutsu and taijutsu, demonstrating excellent chakra control from a young age.
After graduating, Jien has concentrated his efforts on mastering the Gentle Fist Style (still in secret, of course), and improving his doujutsu. He still leaves time to improve his basic shinobi skills, especially in the realm of furthering his ability to manipulate his chakra. Though he is still a relatively young Genin, he has already mastered the art of Tree Walking.
Personality
Jien has always been a bit stoic and serious. He believes it necessary to achieve one's full potential as a shinobi, not to allow superfluous emotions into one's life. Some emotions, however, he fully embraces: Loyalty, Honor, Righteous Anger, and Sacrifice.
Appearance
Hyuuga Jien is an adolescent boy with a lithe figure, standing at five feet and four inches with a leanly muscled frame. His features are quite typical of the Hyuuga Clan: long, black hair that has never been cut in his life, tied in a low tail that reaches his hips, and a pair of piercing, milky white eyes.
Jien is a member of the Branch family, and as such he has been branded with their trademark Cursed Seal, placed on him when he was four years old. He keeps it covered at all times with his Konoha hitai-ate, which has a black cloth band. His clothing is loose fitting, and he wears a long, white kimono shirt over dark grey, knee length pants. His shirt is belted at the waist with a matching dark grey obi sash. His shinobi boots are black, like his hitai-ate.
