Ryuk was born in the Hyuuga village in the home where he would be raised. His mother Shizuka, and his father Ryo, were both Hyuuga ninja, until Shizuka retired to raise Ryuk. Ryo, a branch family member, considered a kind but strict ninja, was still an active shinobi, serving to protect the main branch. He was charged with training his own son to become a branch family ninja for the protection of the main branch. For this reason, the cursed seal mark was placed on Ryuk's forehead at the age of five.

Ryuk started training with his father and he also took classes with groups of young Hyuuga students, but he was always quiet, and non-involved. For many years Ryuk didn't show any improvements in areas such as taijutsu or ninjutsu, and though it seemed he understood the code of the ninja, this was still frowned upon by the clan elders. Ryo pressured Ryuk to train harder and harder, and the boy always did what his father told him to, so he would practice all day and night. While many considered him a drop out, some might have said he was an old soul.

Ryuk was inclined to meditate regularly, and eventually a couple of his strengths came to light, chakra control and kekkei genkai. He started showing improvements and learned to use chakra as a second nature for basic ninjutsu techniques, as well as reflexively in the juuken style. Though he had been slow progressing to the point of failure, his skill improved once he learned chakra control, byakugan, and the art of meditation. Finally he was promoted to the rank of genin and everyone was proud of him.

He started doing missions for the Hyuga clan, and kept training hard. With the establishment of Konoha, he joined teams of other ninja his age, many of them from other strong clans, and despite his quiet nature he made friends as well as friendly rivals to train with. It took him a long time to master the juuken style and learn the more powerful techniques that were reserved for the main branch, but when he proved to reach a certain level of taijutsu the clan elders promoted him to the rank of chuunin.

After his promotion, Ryuk's skill was noticed by the Land of Fire Daimyo and he was invited to train at the main temple of fire. This did not happen without having to convince the clan elders to allow him to participate in the fire temple training, because it meant he would not be around to do missions or protect the main branch. However, he took time off to live and train with the monks at the fire temple, practicing meditation, prayer, and various forms of jutsu. His duty was ultimately to his clan and the village hidden in the leaves, so he returned home, to Konoha, to carry out his ninja duties.

Personality

Ryuk is a young man who has dedicated his life to being a ninja. He's always had a mature way of thinking, with an observant nature and a passive attitude, and even though he is sensitive to different energies, he can present a lack of emotion. He has always been strong willed and determined, and though he is not physically the strongest or smartest ninja, he uses skill and technique to win a battle. He may be soft spoken but isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in or for the safety of others. The branch family seal on his forehead taught him a valuable lesson, it made it easier to accept being in the face of death. If the seal was used truly to protect the clan, then that was his destiny.

Appearance

Ryuk is young and agile, fit enough for a ninja, but weighs in light. He has the white Byakugan eyes, and his hair is black with a dark blue tint, usually tied in a knot, and he wears on his forehead a dark blue Konoha headband. He wears a kimono of thick black wool, a layer of white lining on the inside. The kimono is fitting and the sleeves are very long and hang loose from his arms, allowing for freedom of movement. A white sash is tied around the waist, and he sports a pair of loose gray pants under the kimono, bandages on the ankles and shins, and on his feet are a pair of dark blue shinobi slippers.
