Background
The illegitimate son of a noble and a ninja from the Inuzuka clan, Atsuro has been untameable since childhood. Only recently has he been considered appropriate for the rank of chuunin, and he's still growing into the position.
Atsuro's story first began when his mother, Kaori, a young chuunin of the Inuzuka clan, was hired out as a guard for a family of nobles in the Imperial City. After several months of her duty their, the family's eldest son, Matsudaira Motokiyo, who was about her age, revealed that he found her attractive, and the two carried on an affair for several weeks. Upon realizing that she was pregnant, Kaori, told Motokiyo. Knowing that an illegitimate child would tarnish his reputation and prospects, Motokiyo disavowed both Kaori and his unborn child. Realizing that she could not continue her duties as a guard, Kaori returned to the home of the clan, and gave birth to Atsuro months later.
Kaori raised Atsuro alone. The boy proved to be an incredible handful, wild and irresponsible. She intended to tell him about his father later in his life, but through eavesdropping on conversations between family members, he learned the truth much earlier than she had intended. Atsuro became an angry child afterwards, and eventually came to display an incredible antipathy towards his father, then the nobility in general, then anybody he perceived as having unearned power or respect, such as heirs to large fortunes.
Fortunately, this anger was tempered somewhat when he first began learning about the life of the ninja. Atsuro perceived the ninja world as one without nobility, where status was given according to capability. He decided that he would become a ninja, renouncing his father and noble blood. At the age of nine, he started learning from the other ninja of the clan, specifically the Deltas. Despite his wild behaviour, he proved a reasonably capable, if undisciplined student.
Atsuro was eventually given a dog companion, a large water dog with a keen sense of smell, deemed appropriate for the scouting work that would be expected of him. He named the dog Taizen. Taizen proved to be good for Atsuro, not just in utility, but in personality. Taizen had a serene and docile temperament, which made it easier for him to tolerate Atsuro's behaviour — and even calm Atsuro down somewhat. The two worked well together and quickly became nearly inseparable companions.
Atsuro was in his early teens when the Inuzuka clan was incorporated into Konoha. By this time, he was a fair ways into his career as a ninja, having become quite adept with the Inuzuka clan techniques (though he appeared to show some level of disdain for the 'softer' ninjutsu and genjutsu), and qualified to be a genin in the new hidden village. While his respect for the ninja way kept him from being too irresponsible, he still did not know how to play the game, and stayed a genin for several years. He matured slowly but surely though, and the day eventually came that he was considered suitable to be a chuunin and was promoted.
Personality
In the past, Atsuro used to live a rather wild lifestyle. While a small part of this persona remains, Atsuro's drinking and partying have declined as his responsibilities have grown, and though he complains, he works hard to protect Konohagakure and innocent people everywhere. His jokes range from dry to silly, and are told frequently and not necessarily at appropriate times. Although his sense of humour can often seem mean, he tries to reserve the meanest jokes for those who can take them — or deserve them.

Looking to be somewhere around twenty, Atsuro is slightly taller than the average man, around 185 centimeters in height. He has a powerful and athletic build, with muscles that are strong, well-defined and even a little bulky. On either cheek he has the dark red fang markings of the Inuzuka clan. Should one see him without a shirt on, he has a tattoo of the Leaf insignia on the left side of his chest, as well as several others on the back. He also has the prominent canines typical of an Inuzuka, though his eyes have normal pupils and are clear blue. His hair is auburn, short to medium length, and styled somewhere between messy and spiky, though also swept forward somewhat. His face is handsome with a strong but slightly rounded jaw, evenly spaced features, and narrow, arched eyebrows. His skin is lightly tanned, and he has a few minor scars scattered around his body.
His chuunin vest is standard in style, made of durable brown fabric. Beneath the vest, he wears a darker brown wool sweater with a high collar that covers his neck. His pants are dark grey and made of thick, rugged material. He wears a kunai holster and equipment pouch, each strapped to one leg with athletic tape on the outer thigh. On his feet, he wears a pair of charcoal coloured ninja sandals. His forehead protector is tied around his head with a strip of black fabric, which is knotted in the back.
Taizen
Taizen is Atsuro's faithful nin-dog, and is almost always at his side. Atsuro does not consider Taizen to be 'his dog' and often insists on calling him 'his comrade.'
Often seen with Atsuro is his dog, Taizen. Taizen is a giant of a dog, with a bulky, solid build and nearly a meter in height. His coat is totally black, shaggy, and very thick. Despite his immense size, his appearance is not very threatening, with his big brown eyes, droopy face, and the trails of drool that leak out from his jowls. With his webbed feet, Taizen seems to be a water dog of some kind, and indeed, his coat has a waxy, water-resistant appearance to it. Taizen is most often seen with a strange sort of dog armor, made with thick durable leather. Judging by the large number of swords sheathed in it, it's used for utility just as much as protection.
Note: Taizen is technically a Newfoundland dog, but I prefer not to refer to him this way in character to avoid real-world references. Newfoundland dogs are typically very large and strong and are know for their calm, sweet disposition and loyalty. They are water dogs, meaning they are bred for their swimming abilities and are often used for water rescue. Unfortunately, they are infamous for their drooling.

Inuzuka Taiki | Distant Relative and Former Student | Taiki is the clan leader and Atsuro is his advisor, so technically Taiki outranks him now. But spiritually, Atsuro outranks everybody, so every single action Taiki takes is now subject to Atsuro's special brand of scrutiny. While they bug each other greatly, Atsuro and Taiki have a strong relationship. |
Taniguchi Hitoshi | Former Student | Hitoshi and Atsuro always got along, both when Hitoshi was his student and after he was promoted. Hitoshi doesn't come around much anymore, but Atsuro will always be happy to see him again. |
Uchiha Berii | Former Student | The last member of the original Team 10 to be promoted, Berii was with Atsuro for quite a while. Even though she's left the team, though, they developed a strong bond in their training and their missions together. Atsuro is sure she'll do well in her future ninja career! |

Aburame Etsu | Acquaintance | This girl is, well, weird, and maybe a little demanding too. She doesn't seem to be quite as weird as other Aburame, however, so… there's that. |
Akiyama Kenta | Friend | While he doesn't always understand Kenta's way of thinking, Atsuro has immense respect for him. The two are very close, and Atsuro is always glad to give Kenta a hand with something, or get a hand from Kenta. While Atsuro doesn't have any siblings, he sometimes thinks of Kenta as a sort of little brother, and even occasionally dotes on him. |
Asano (Inuzuka) Soren | Friend | Soren was once just a visitor to Konoha, whom Atsuro happened to be on good terms with. But they've talked a number of times since, and they've become friends. After Soren actually got adopted into the Inuzuka clan, their friendship has only become stronger. |
Inuzuka Takeo | Boyfriend | Takeo and Atsuro started as friends, but not too long ago they started dating. So far they've stuck together, but lately Atsuro has started to worry that he and Takeo see the relationship differently from one another. |
Senju Daisuke | Friend | Atsuro has become something of a confidant or older brother to Daisuke, who has even shared a few important secrets with him. Even with Daisuke becoming the Hokage, they're still good friends. |
Senju Ryuunosuke | Acquaintance (Deceased) | Ryuunosuke was always a bit of a brat, but Atsuro liked him even so. Sadly, the boy died before he could go very far as a ninja, which is most unfortunate. |
Satonezu Eremi | Friend | Atsuro has sometimes found Eremi's behaviour to be frustrating. However, he sees Eremi as a capable ninja and a good person, and held this view even when Eremi went missing from Konoha. Perhaps it's this attitude that helped him persuade Eremi to return to the village more recently. |
Uchiha Ryo | Acquaintance | Atsuro finds Ryo to be a little weird, particularly in his attitudes toward his clan and duties, which he is surprised to see in someone so young. However, he has trained him a little in the past, and sparred with him both physically and verbally. |

Yotsuki Hiei | Friend | Atsuro has known the Raikage since Hiei was a preteen and a genin. Having caught glimpses of him as he grew, and even taught him some kenjutsu, Atsuro has been quite impressed with Hiei's progress as a ninja. |
Yotsuki Nariko | Friend | As a diplomat for Kumo, Nariko seems to run into Atsuro often. The two have something of a playful relationship, and will frequently spar with one another verbally. |

Journal
Entry 1: Full-time Work
So I haven't written about this yet, but I now have two jobs, on top of the whole thing where I'm a ninja. That actually probably explains why I haven't been writing lately, because the duties just keep coming. So here I am, using my valuable time to try and start writing in my journal again. This poor sense of priorities probably explains why I took these two jobs, so that's one mystery solved by writing this, at least.
I'll start at the start. Shortly after Taiki became the clan head — which is a while ago now — he also asks me to be his advisor. It's an official position in the clan with pay and an office and everything. It also has a bunch of time-consuming duties. I'm fortunate because the main duty is being the voice of reason for Taiki. This is something I have quite a bit of practice at already. That isn't to say I'm good at it, just better than most people.
Anyway, a little while after that happens, I run into Daisuke, who is now the Hokage. He says he has a position for me in the village administration. The basic idea is that I communicate with representatives from all the village's clans and make sure everything is good between the clans and the village. It requires a lot of chatting and dining and drinking with the representatives, so that's why Daisuke chose me. Flattering, I guess. Anyway, for some reason I said yes and accepted a third helping of work.
I wouldn't say it was brilliant of me, but I'm getting the work done well enough. Lately, though, we've been dealing with this whole Silence business, which means I have to spend more time patrolling and guarding. Four helpings of work was too much, so I hired Kenta as an assistant. This proved to be a mistake. He does brilliant work, but I told him I'd make sure he got extra pay and that his hours working at the hospital would be reduced. So far, I've been negotiating both those terms with him for weeks. And it's not what you'd expect either, he for some reason thinks he can push himself past the human limit of most hours worked in a week. And he doesn't expect pay for it. I guess I should have seen that coming, though. That's just Kenta for you.
Entry 2: Matters of the Heart
I seem to have gotten myself into a real situation. I'm not sure where to begin. I guess I may as well say that Takeo and I started dating a while back. It's a bit of an odd relationship — Takeo's a jinchuuriki, he's a bit young for me, and we didn't really know where the relationship was going when we first started seeing one another. I thought things were going pretty well, but I think that last point might be bringing trouble.
The whole thing started when Takeo called Kenta, Taizen, and me to his home. He revealed that he wanted to form a contract with Isobu. I don't really understand the specifics of it, but we ended up going inside his head to fight Isobu. We won and he got the contract. Then I went to see him when he was recovering.
That's when he proposed to me, and probably when my jaw hit the floor too. I said it was a good relationship, but I never imagined Takeo would be interested in getting married at this point. For one thing, we haven't even been dating that long. For another, he just brought it up in casual conversation, right there in front of Kenta and Tai.
I told him it wasn't the time or place for proposals. He interpreted that as meaning that he should ask again in a week. I said no, then he said he wouldn't take no for an answer and suggested we compromise by getting engaged. This is what I thought he wanted in the first place, but it turns out he'd originally been suggesting that we just go and get married without delay.
Now, as I'm writing this, I have no clue what to do. Now isn't the time to get married, but if Takeo's just going to keep asking me… I'd rather not finish that sentence.
Entry 3: When You Need Some Help to Save the Day
I just got back from a beast of a mission. It all started a few months back when Taiki suddenly announced that he was leaving the village to take care of some kind of business. Didn't say where he was going or what he was doing. Probably didn't tell me because he knew I'd point out that it was an insanely dangerous plan.
Lo, a couple weeks ago we (the village) received a bundle of hair and blood. Which turned out to be taken from Taiki, Shinobu, and Nozomi. Then Tenken shows up, telling us that he and Taiki were captured by Recluse. Luckily, he was able to show us where Taiki was being held and sneak us in a back entrance.
From there, the mission got real complicated. I was joined by Takeo, Kenta, Tenken, and Michiko from Kumo. Then there was one other person who I didn't expect at all. I'm not sure, since she was using genjutsu, but I think it was Naru. I wasn't exactly thankful for the help, but I didn't see any option but to cooperate with her. She did prove to be of some help, so I'll give her that. We snuck into the Recluse base through a shaft that took us to a ledge overlooking the holding chamber. Or maybe the torture chamber. Both Taiki and the dogs were in really rough shape. It was awful to look at. There was blood everywhere. I don't think I can even come up with the words for a proper description.
Tenken ended up attacking the head of the Recluse (or this branch of it, at least) with some really powerful seals. Usagi had infiltrated ahead of time, and managed to free Taiki and the dogs, then we jumped down to help him up. It was a tough fight — there were definitely some of the more dangerous Recluse there. But we made it out, and Usagi had had the foresight to plant bombs all over the cave and set them off just as we left. So in the end, we made it out, with Taiki alive.
I'll have to mention Naru to the higher ups. And then after that, I'll have to march into Taiki's hospital room, give him a big hug, then yell at him for taking huge risks that put other Leaf-nin in danger.
Entry 4: Birds of a Feather
I've been sorta anxious lately. It doesn't feel like it's about any one thing, but I think I know why: in a couple weeks, either an entire village will be killed or an execrable missing nin will be killed and all her captives will be released. And it might all depend on me. I'd better go back to the start for this one.
Weeks ago now, me, Kenta, and Tsukino were on a mission to help a nearby monastery hide some of the scrolls for forbidden jutsu they were keeping there from the Silence. It turned out that they'd been infiltrated already. To make a long story short, the enemies escaped with the scroll. But it's important to mention who those enemies were: an Uzumaki, and Inuzuka Takato and Hageshi, an Inuzuka duo I never expected to see again.
Takato and Hageshi's disappearance was a sad event in the clan. His parents actually asked for privacy, so I never found out what happened, until I did some research. He was on a trip with his family, and he went swimming in a lake, where he was swallowed up by a giant duck. And apparently on the way, before the lake, they found a little girl, then gave her over to a woman claiming to be her mother. The girl was a redhead, just like the Uzumaki.
When they escaped, the Uzumaki girl left behind some things. There were a few clues, but the most interesting thing of all was a huge seal hidden on a kimono. She wasn't sure, but Tsukino thought the idea of the seal was to cancel other seals. I figured that she and Takato are being held captive by someone who's using seals, and that the kimono was meant as a way to escape. But it didn't actually give us any idea of how to find them.
But then we got a huge break. Tsukino and I were escorting a guy with a cart to make a delivery to his village. He was acting really strangely, then we got attacked by crows — they were really strange. No matter how many we killed, they just kept coming and it didn't seem like their numbers reduced. But we finally noticed one that seemed to be leading them. Tsukino used seals to make platforms that I could jump on, then I went up and killed the lead crow. The other crows just disappeared. A strange story on its own but then the villagers told us that a missing nin named Lady Feather was behind the crow attacks, and that she'd been holding their village hostage and forcing them to make her dolls. Then they mentioned that she uses a go-between, who fit the description of the Uzumaki girl.
I got them to tell me where they drop off the dolls, then Eremi, Kenta, Taizen and me set up an ambush there. Along comes two little kids. I come out of hiding and try to convince them to help us. They resist for a little while, but I catch them after an escape attempt, and one of them finally starts to talk. It's a real doozy.
Lady Feather works by kidnapping two children every year. One is a boy, one is a girl, and both have kekkei genkai. It seems she hates ninja and wants to gather up all the various jutsu out there — probably to help kill ninja. Apparently, some ninja killed her children years back. I won't deny that it's a tragic thing, but I can't forgive kidnapping twenty two children, and now she wants to use one of the jutsu they stole from the monastery. According to the monk there it will give the user immortality, but it takes a number of lives from the surrounding area. It could wipe out a village.
I guess I have a reason to be nervous. Depending on what I do in a couple weeks, I'll either bring Takato and Hageshi home and save twenty one other kids and an entire village, or I'll let a missing nin become immortal at the cost of maybe hundreds of lives.
Entry 1: Trials
A few days ago, I got a copy of a letter Taiki sent to Daisuke. For the past few months, there have been a couple of members of the clan, Kaido and Hige, on loan to Kumo. And now apparently Kaido has come back to Konoha to tell Taiki that he plans on staying in Kumo permanently, and he won't come back even if he's ordered. Unsurprisingly, Taiki didn't react well. The fun never stops in the Inuzuka Clan.
The next time I hear about it, Taiki's arrested both of them and there's going to be a trial for them. Because I'm a legal expert, Taiki wanted to hear my opinion on the whole situation and his options. According to Taiki, the reason Kaido did this is because he didn't like his reputation back here in Konoha. Apparently, he and his partner, Bandit, both hit on people in very unsubtle ways. I wanted to argue for leniency going in, because the whole situation seemed complicated, but I was expecting him to have a better reason than that.
Hige turned out to be innocent of any wrongdoing. He got caught up in it all because Kaido was his superior, and something Kaido said to Taiki gave him the impression that Hige had been somehow involved. Hige is young, and pretty recently a genin, so it was hard to see him as some kind of mastermind, but Taiki asked me to speak with him and see what it was. In the end, it turned out that he had told Kaido he wanted to stay in Kumo because he'd made friends there, but the actual attempt at defecting was Kaido's idea — Hige never meant actually abandoning Konoha.
Fortunately, that seemed to satisfy everyone when I said that at the trial. In the end, Kaido was found guilty, but under the circumstances, Taiki was pretty lenient — demotion, pay docking, no leaving Konoha, and mandatory logic classes (Taiki, I will never understand you). The trial even ended with a dramatic twist when someone from the Kumo delegation spoke out in Kaido's defense after the sentence was handed down. I recommended that Taiki revisit his decision later, so we'll see how that goes.
Entry 2: Tribulations
I've had a few days to calm down, and I'm glad, because I can't even imagine what I'd be writing right now if I hadn't. I don't think I've ever had a mission go so badly. Technically, it was a success, but it felt like a huge failure.
I'd rather not revisit it, so I'll just summarize: Lady Feather escapes, several of her captives die, the rest are kidnapped again, I still haven't gotten Takato back. The upshot is that one of the captives now has a kimono which will hopefully disrupt the seal Lady Feather uses to control them and we might be able to figure out a way of tracking them down. Two steps back, one step forwards.
The most frustrating thing is that I might have been able to just end it right there. I had my sword right at her throat. I had to worry about my team, so I tried threatening her to make them stop fighting. One of the captives I'd made a deal with flew off the handle and tries to kill her, but she forces the other captive to replace her. Then she kills the other one two and one of her damn birds comes flying in to rescue her. There's no telling, but I still can't shake the idea that I might have been able to just stop her right there by flicking my wrist.
I hate this. I can't abandon the mission. I really feel like I could use a break, but I've got to get Takato back, and I'm not letting Lady Feather get away.
Entry 3: After the Trial
It's not a lot, but I'm happy to be writing an entry like this over those last two. I've run into Kaido and Hige a couple times since the end of the trial, and things are… well, they're not terrible.
I'll start with Kaido first. His sentence hasn't exactly been easy on him, but he does seem to be adapting, sorta. I ran into him at the ramen house. I actually wasn't sure he'd want anything to do with me, since I was involved in the trial and everything, but he seemed to be doing okay. He actually invited me to sit with him and we talked a little bit. It really did seem like he'd accepted things for the most part. I did feel embarrassed to be eating so much when he could barely pay for the cheapest dish, so I left some food on my plate and tried to make it look like I was just full or something when I left. I could have just offered it, but he seems proud.
The next time I saw him was in the Inuzuka village marketplace, selling maps. It was sorta an interesting business to get into, but when I checked them out, they seemed pretty good. Very detailed, and he'd worked in a lot of things you wouldn't see on your average map. I asked him to make a few of the Land of Fire. Kenta was there and commissioned one too. So I guess business is going pretty well, if that encounter is any indication.
Then there's Hige. He got acquitted, of course, so he doesn't have a sentence. But he does have some fallout to deal with. They're not sending him back to Kumo, but he's worried he won't be able to make friends back here. Plus, with Kaido no longer teaching him, he doesn't have a sensei. I've agreed to teach him a few moves while he tries to find somebody. He's also learning lightning jutsu from Taiki. I'm not sure how I'd feel about learning from the guy who arrested me, but I guess there you go. If Kaido can forgive, Hige can too.
Entry 4: Teaching Again
So, just like every single thing I do, training Hige has turned into something much bigger than I'd originally predicted. I taught him Gatsuga. He already knew Tsuga, so it wasn't too hard. I just taught him that the move is essentially the same as Tsuga, just with both human and nin-dog working together. So it was just a matter of explaining the best ways of working together then leaving him and Konsho to practice.
Not long afterwards, he tells me that they've got the move working, and they pulled one off on a mission. Which means he's looking for me to teach him something else. I actually haven't decided yet. I suggested that I teach him stronger senses or better defenses, and he said either sounded good to him. But there's something much bigger going on here.
You see, I'm now committed to teaching him regularly. And since he doesn't have a sensei…
So it looks like I'm back on that course again. I'm not really sure how it's all going to play out, to be honest. But if I'm going to be a leader to one person, I'm going to have to be a leader to three people. Hmm…!
Entry 1: Top Dog
So I got promoted again. Turns out there's a rank above Jounin that isn't the Kage, so now I'm the Jounin Commander. Now I outrank everyone except for Daisuke. You'd think all this power would go straight to my head, but it actually just means I spend a lot of time in the office now. Office time which does not allow much for writing personal notes, which is part of why I haven't written in here for so long (the other part is laziness).
Ranks march on, though. Daisuke promoted Hige to Chuunin and removed him from my time so he could watch Zori (more on that later). Then Hige got promoted to Jounin a surprisingly short time later. Not sure how he pulled that one off!
Even Kenta got promoted, despite doing everything he could to avoid it. Back when I first met him, he wasn't comfortable with being a Chuunin, so it's no surprise now that he doesn't feel comfortable being a Jounin. Whenever I mention his rank now, he always says it must have been some mistake and how he'll get demoted back to Chuunin any day now. Probably the hardest working person in the entire village, so that better not happen.
Entry 2: Troublesome Genin
Zori. How I wish I'd never heard the name.
The incidents have started to run together in my mind, so instead of a blow by blow, I'll just write a short summary. Basically, there's a Genin running around the village beating up other Genin, and so far nothing anybody's done has changed that. Hige had an idea of why he was doing it, so he took him under his wing and tried to fix him. It didn't work. Kenta's been studying him and making pills to calm him down—supposedly these events are the result of some medical condition that sends Zori into a frenzy. There have been several forms of the pill now, and it's the same story every time: they work for a while, then suddenly they don't. Kenta says that Zori's condition is somehow adapting to the pills and making them ineffective.
Now, if the story stopped there, I'd be sympathetic to him. But it's not just a medical issue. There have now been several incidents where Zori decided he wanted to beat up some other Genin for one reason or another and actually induced a frenzy to do it. One of these teams, Hige had written in the report that Zori had done it for payback against Kyuketsuki. I was not amused when Zori tried to tell me he just wanted an innocent spar.
What's to be done then? So far Zori has managed to sneak around every solution we've attempted. At one point, we even had a Chuunin escorting him and making sure he didn't get into fights, and Zori somehow got around that. Hiei has offered to try and deal with him Kumo-style. We're still considering it, but who knows if it'll work. Given that Zori doesn't actually care about the trouble he's causing, I'd be fine with just putting him in prison indefinitely. I try to be compassionate, and so has everybody else involved in these decisions, but we've been risking many Genin to save one for too long now.
Entry 3: Family Trouble
It seems like an awful lot of people in this village come from broken homes. Someone should really conduct a study on this and offer solutions.
Broken Home #1: I can't write too much about Tatsuo for security reasons. So, skirting one really important detail, here's what happened. Tatsuo's father was prominent in the Nara clan, and so when Tatsuo wasn't living up to his insane standards, he became abusive. In the end, Tatsuo tried to escape, but his father ended up tracking him down. Luckily, Kenta and I were able to subdue him and his goon squad. Tatsuo is now living with Kenta and his grandma, who are still refusing to accept compensation for taking care of Tatsuo. All's well that ends well?
Broken Home #2: Daichi is another Genin with father issues. While Kenta and I were talking with him in the Ramen House, he mentioned (by accident) that his father is often too drunk to take care of him. Apparently he occasionally sleeps outside. It all started when Daichi's brother disappeared. I still don't know what to do about this one, but I'm hoping we can convince the father to seek help.
Broken Home #3: Hige. It's no secret that he's an orphan, but recently his long-lost brother turned up attacking Kumo forces. He was captured and sent back here for a trial, which Taiki conducted. I advised Taiki not to execute him so that he could be interrogated.
Entry 4: Finding Justice
I had a rather humbling experience recently. It started when I went to Kenta's office late at night. He'd forgotten a book and I figured he'd be working there. When I got there, the door was locked, but I could hear someone inside. It turned out to be a bunch of someones, actually, and it sounded like they were ransacking the place, so I broke the door down.
I was able to get in okay, but Tai wasn't with me, so I had no swords, no buddy, and very few techniques that wouldn't risk destroying the office. I nearly got my ass handed to me, but I managed to survive it with the help of a shadow clone. It turned out I was fighting I bunch of clones myself. They were all clones of a single mednin. In the end, I managed to destroy all but one, who escaped with a bunch of documents and burned them. I returned to find that the hospital security had also found Kenta's lab broken into and his experiments destroyed. Kenta's office was trashed too—he had a bunch of cat decorations which got broken. I thought maybe it had happened in the fighting, but come to think of it, it was that bastard searching the office. Well, I've got his scent, so he'd better watch himself.
Kenta tried to play it like the whole thing didn't hurt him that much, but I could tell he was upset about it. The police had determined that one of the cat decorations wasn't useful evidence, so they let me have it. It wasn't too badly broken, so I glued it back together and gave it to Kenta. When I saw his expression, it was the best I'd felt since that night.
