Background

+ Reveal: Shu's BG

Shu's life consisted of death. His birth claimed his mother's life. His early childhood claimed his father's. After loosing both his parents Shu lived and roamed with his Aunt and Uncle who settled in what would become Iwagakure. Shu was also accompanied by Kimi. Kimi was born a day after Shu. Kimi grew with Shu and is one of the few close to Shu who remain among the living. Shu finally noticed the misfortune he casts upon others when his Aunt and Uncle died in an accident leaving Shuu alone with Kimi at 4. Shu was surprisingly resolute and unwavering. He quickly accepted his situation and adapted to whatever vicissitudes befell him. After being caught steeling Shu was forced to enter the Iwagakure Ninja Academy. Being a natural he and Kimi quickly distinguished themselves. Graduating the academy at the age of 10 Shu was considered a genius. The boy was an enigma to his peers and instructors though. He never got close to anyone. Eventually Shu joined a team. He performed rather notably with this team. Their success rate gained them recognition throughout the village. However just when it seemed Shu had escaped his curse his team suffered an agonizing fate at the expense of a recovery mission gone wrong. The details are unclear to all save for Shu being the only survivor along with Kimi. Only Shu and Kimi know the dark secret, that Shu abandoned his teammates for the sake of the mission thus sealing their doom. For the first time in his life Shu was distraught with the death of another. While other's treated him as a hero and prodigy Shu grew to hate himself. Kimi remains admirably loyal to Shu but the two don't seem as close as most would expect. The boy keeps shutting people out and works alone, save for Kimi, often. Shu has come to the understanding that he's meant to be alone and thus strengthens himself and rounds himself out so that he'll never need a team. In his mind he and others are better off if he's alone. He attained the rank of Chuunin at 13 on skill and ability alone. Though the loneliness pains Shu he knows that losing more loved ones would end him and so he solemn accepts his fate, his lonely fate.

Personality

Shu's best described as aloof and mischievous. He is also blunt and incredibly audacious often not thinking twice about doing something blatant or outrageous for the sake of personal gain or amusement. The young man is a bit of a kleptomaniac and steals just for the joy of it at times. He's very arrogant as well yet not boastful. His tone is often condescending and mocking, often not taking anyone seriously. He prefers to be alone and only seeks the company of others if he's feeling restless (naughty) or if he has to (missions, etc.). Even his companion Kimi is avoided at times despite the two having a deep bond. One of Shu's few, if not only, redeeming traits is that he is fair. All are equally inferior to the young man.

Appearance

An elegantly muscular youth who stands at a solid five feet with skin bronzed by sunlight best describes Shu's physique. His hair, though short, is coarse and as black as a raven's quill. The boy's eyes glower with an eerie poignant orange hue. Often his vernal facial features are hidden under the cloak of his cat-theme hood. His sleeveless hoodie is tan and yellow with two pockets near the base on either side. Black legging cover his legs along with combat tape that winds from the shin down into his shinobi sandals.

His feline companion Kimi not by his side but usually nearby stands at a little under three feet. Her fur is wild yet lavish with an orange color with a white underline. A slender snake-like tail often wisps playfully back and forth. Coupled with her piercing azure eyes Kimi can seem quite intimidating first.

Kimi	Partner in Crime (Sort of)	Of the Atoneko breed of the Maneshi felines Kimi is a somewhat large and highly intelligent cat. Protective to the point of berserk psychosis Kimi cares for Shu immensely but you wouldn't know that unless you were around the two all the time.
Borin	Meat Shield	A brute who reeks of bears. Shu didn't think much of Borin at first seeing the man as muscle driven ogre, but after working with Borin on a few missions he thinks even less of the man. Still Borin has become somewhat of a rival to Shu motivating him to grow stronger and not fall behind.
Kaneko	Runt	Of all those Shu has met so far none irritate yet amaze him more than this unreasonably optimistic and seemingly unbreakable girl. At first Shu found her to be an annoyance and he still thinks of her as such. Shu also sees her as a helpless and hopelessly naive liability and has decided to 'keep an eye' on her for her own sake. Despite that fact he has also developed a level of respect for her that (sometimes) balances out his contempt for her.
Hotaru	Crybaby	She's young and handicapped Watanabe yet she wants to become a ninja. Shu isn't the type to believe in those heartwarming stories of someone overcoming the odds and perseverance and all that crap. Logic, statistics, practicality these things are what Shu believes in. Hotaru defies this and on top of all that she's a cry baby. But she's also Kaneko's friend. Shu can't say whether or not he likes her. All he can say is that he'll watch over her too for Kaneko's sake.
Nendo	Big Dude	This guy is big, gutsy, and earnest. If this were a shonen manga he'd be the dumb protagonist that everyone loved…save for Shu. But Shu does see some promise in him. He's older and perhaps that's why he doesn't seem as naive as the others.
Juudai	Stone Hag	Shu believes she lives to be his bane. Every time she just finds a way to put him through a hassle. From training newbies to pairing up with idiots Shu just can't catch a break with this one. He can't get into any shenanigans with her around either. A pain but at least she's rough around all her edges as the leader of the Stone should be.

+Training Day 8/31/15

So for some reason or another the Stone Hag put me on training duty with some runt from the academy. A Murasame named Kaneko or something, anyway I was annoyed to say the least. I mean what part of 'doesn't work well with others' does she not comprehend. Orders are orders I guess. So I trained the little pipsqueak. Oh did I mention she showed up late? I took my time with her. She'll rue the day and after this I won't have to deal with students for a while. Well that's what I thought. She's resilient though….or just stupid and naive. I pelted her with rocks, made her Kimi's plaything, and sicked a bear on her. Yet still….what's wrong with this kid?

+Guard Duty!? 9/1/15

This is may sound ridiculous but that runt from the other day got to go on a mission with me, the Stone Hag and two other creepers; some fancy guy in white and is dark assistant who spooks the hell out of Kimi (haha). Anywho I'm charged with guarding Kaneko while the others get to have all the fun. It was fine until she ended up riddled with arrows. I…failed. Not that I care about the brat. This is why I prefer to work alone. But I didn't want to see her die either. The guy in white saved her. Turns out he's powerful. I need that power. But for now I guess I'll have to keep an eye on Kaneko's progress. It's kind of my responsibility since I failed her. How annoying…I hate being in someone's debt.

+Crappy New Faces 9/10/15

So now not only do I have to look over that helpless runt Kaneko but these other two pains in my ass. The first one is this crybaby Watanabe. I wasn't even being that mean and she just starts to sniffle up. Her and Kaneko are real friends though and despite her blubbering she sounds like she's serious about becoming a shinobi. We've got no room for crybabies though. She'll have to toughen up. But I'll tolerate her for Kaneko's sake, again debt sucks. The other is this promising Touj…the explosive clan. His name is Nendo. He's huge. He's older than me but still a genin. I don't know his story nor do I care. He's probably going to be the least bothersome. He's gutsy…I like that. Means he'll be fun to toy with. He's also not as naive as the others yet tries to comfort them when they should be left to the harsh reality. This is all so annoying though. Bunch of weirdos these guys…just like me.

+Extra Credit: Evaluations 9/13/15

Kimi and I made a wager today. I don't think this Hotaru runt is cut out for shinobi life. Kimi disagrees so we put her to the test. The 'Hard Headed' exercise. It's simply putting the shinobi in an impossible situation to gauge them. I expected her to give up and realize that she just doesn't have what it takes. Instead she proved to be quite…hard headed. She refused to give up. Stubbornly preferring death or seriously injury over failure. So I lost. And I have to apologize for calling her a cry baby. I went on to spar her, Kaneko and Nendo. The three actually work well together. Hotaru pulled out a C rank fire ninjutsu. I didn't see that coming. They still have a LONG way to go. But at least this cryba-er Hotaru doesn't seem so hopeless anymore.

+Another Face 9/17/15

It's a hot day. Kimi and I steal some shaved ice. And as we wander trying to beat the heat we come upon those little pains in my ass. But there's another with them. A mute Gansao who's already on my good side. I wish the lot of them were mute. I mean he can technically speak with his genjutsu but I can tune that out a lot easier. Shocking development; Hotaru talked back to me. This meek little crybaby is growing some nerve. About time. I was wondering how much she could take. She brought up an interesting point. I have been rather lackadaisical lately. I can't fall behind that brute who smells of bears. I'll do some training of my own.

+Never Fails 9/19/15

So…there I was minding my own business and enjoying the nice weather. The forest was beautiful. It reminded me of the days I trained with my old teammates. Better times. Suddenly there is a light in the distance. Nothing profound no this was the light of sheer stupidity and carelessness. That Watanabe cripple started a fire! Stupid little runt was whining and crying while Kaneko and even the weird Gansao kid did their best to put out the fire. Now if she would just think and apply the backfire effect she can suffocate the fire. But NOOOOO. "I don't know how. Please don't tell the Tsuchikage!" Blah blah. And that idiot Borin showed up just to toss in his two ryo so needless to say I was fed up with this crap. So finally, after I dropped a rather heavy ass HINT, she gave the method a try and guess what? The fire died out. Honestly even when I'm not around them these students never fail when it comes to pissing me off. Oh ho and this is the rich part. She talked back to me. Finally got some nerve. I mean she's still a crybaby but I think I'm starting to influence her. Haha.
