Background
This young boy appeared from the mists into the academy near the end of the class' year at the age of seven, attended an occasional class, the excuse being that the clan required his presence on the days he didn't make it, and promptly passed the exams with the graduating students.
This caused a bit of a stir, as well as questioning, both about the boy who'd effortlessly graduated at seven years of age and about the clan who'd brought him to being. Whispers abound, now, just after the graduation. Some speak of the alleged experiments that are performed on him, and those he must perform on others as part of his training as an Okumo ninja. They say he cuts open those he defeats in combat, or simply those he may find without protection and searches their organs for that person's soul, to control them. Others say that he simply tortures people, because it amuses him. Those odd few say that he is simply misunderstood, and that he does not experiment on people, but the corpses they've left behind. And all those who'd uttered a single word wonder just what clan could produce such a thing, so strong and unwholesome at such a tender age. In any case, none know the truth but he and none are yet inclined to find out.
Personality
One would be hard pressed to find warmth in Okumo Meruin. His facial expression rarely deviates very far from one of a certain detachedness, calm and somewhat austere. To those who interact with him, they'll find that he is demanding, exacting, often uncompromising, something of a perfectionist, and prone to wasting as little time or breath as possible. Those he has no business with tend to find themselves ignored after a mention that he has other things to attend to. To those with whom he should, he is notably polite, though just as notably cold. There are dismally few who would expect anything more than this from him.
Appearances
Meruin is a little tall, coming in at around 4'6. His facial features are a blunt, almost bestial in appearance. His too large eyes are a slowly swirling mixture of mist laden blues, greens, and violets. His jaw juts out just enough to be noticed if one gave special attention. His platinum thigh-length hair is copious yet lacking in density, as it seems to have a mind to itself, floating wherever it pleases. Barely discernible in his free flowing hair are the tiniest of spiders, some active, others resting. Much more noticeable are two spiders near his chest. They both seem to have bunched together some of his hair, and rest on it, tethering it to his chest. The one on the left is a green and black spider called Doku. Over the right is a blue and purple, one named Chihara. Both are about the size of the child's tightly closed fist.
He wears closely fitted clothing; silk a match to the color of his sleek hair. Simple form fitting leggings and shirt are his only adornments, leaving him barefoot. The effect leaves the seven year old looking wraith-like, ethereal, his monochrome look making him seem as if a ghost had made itself seen.
Meruin stands at an easy height of 5'9, seeming to be comfortable in this. He is long and lean of form, limbs holding a willowy grace, though bordering on appearing elongated. His eyes are a slowly swirling mixture of mist laden blues, greens, and violets set in a smoothly planed face. His platinum thigh-length hair is copious yet lacking in density, as it seems to have a mind of it's own, floating wherever it pleased. Barely discernable in his free floating hair are the tiniest of spiders, some active, other resting.
Covering the whole of his form from neck to floor are robes of silk a match to the color of his sleek hair. The pale fabric is very soft to the touch, the weight of it nearly nonexistent. One can often tell the presence of any air traffic by watching it and seeing how it moves. There's a small bunching of silk as the back of the neck in what is obviously a hood, worn as optional. The effect leaves the fourteen year old appearing wraith-like, ethereal, his monochrome look making him seem as if a ghost had made itself seen.
Much more noticeable than those in his hair are the two spiders on his shoulders. The one on the left is a green and black spider called Doku. On top of the right is a blue and purple one named Chihara. Both are about the size of small dogs, still as stone statues but for the very subtle motions of their breathing.

Data Logs
During my report to my holder wherein I'd incorrectly recalled the name of one of the failed experiments I trained with during my fourth year, it has come to both my and his attention that my memory is flawed. It is an unfortunate failing of my breeding. As such, I will now have to begin these data logs to ensure that nothing I've experienced is totally lost. I have been tasked with logging the events of my youth before beginning those of my current life.
I suspect I will spend quite some time writing.
It was not a very extensive time. Which was just as well. There was plenty of work to be done. It lasted from my birth until the day I'd killed my first opponent. My least stressful and responsible years consisted of simple testing. All I'd been tasked with doing was learning and growing, and I did so, training and studying and testing for most of my hours. Approximately half of my time was spent sleeping, to ensure proper brain development. The rest was spent doing this, but for the sleep deprivation test. There were hard trials such as the stabbing and electricity sections of the pain tolerance test, and certain sections of the toxin resistance testing.
But it was childhood. There are trials in every child's life. Mine were fully necessary. They were the only reason I was the only six or seven year old genin present and they rid me of many fears. They also prepared me well for the war ahead.
This title stems back towards when I was a boy. Back before I had my first human kill. It was a command from the clan. With this new coalition of clans, they wanted to make a statement and assert their early status as a powerful part of the village early. Meruin was one of the avenues they'd chosen. A seven year old genin with high levels of notoriety bred to inspire fear. It was meant to turn eyes on the Okumo clan, and in many regards, it worked precisely as had been hoped.
Their command was to get into a fight with one of the older students. Back before the war over the Land of Waves, the graduation process was a fight to the death between two students. After the war began, it was decided that there was too little time to utilize this method of ensuring the highest caliber shinobi. And so it was changed to a process that allowed more to survive, and it has not yet been changed back. The academy rules, however, had never changed. Those students found fighting outside of training would take the graduation exam the next day.
With me being a student in the brief time of this protocol, I was scheduled for graduation for the following morning. At that age, and for a few years after, I was physically weak compared to most shinobi. No power; pure speed and endurance. And the target I had been given was one known in his class for tough flesh. A deliberate move no doubt. A true test, where despite all the flash and flair, I could prove fruitless in my efforts.
But the clan didn't truly want a test for me, here. That meant the chance of failure. They simply wanted the rest of the village to think there was one until the seven year old Okumo killed the boy nearly 5 years his senior and rid them of it. So they poisoned him.
It was a slow acting poison and, with the Okumo Clan's usual expertise in such things, the timing was superb. It was not until midway through the match, when my opponent had gotten into the fight, heart rate increasing and body temperature rising, that the poison started to take effect. From there, it was a simple move of making him look good enough until I finished it, with a flourish and a snapping of the neck. And thus, I became a genin.
But I took things further. I destroyed him. Then I consumed him. Took back the energy it took to kill him. Acids from the stomach to liquify his organs were injected in far less refined and clean version of the technique I can employ in combat today. I drank what was within him up, rose with the fluids of him still on my face, and left the arena to make my report with the clan.
The message was effective. There was fear of me. And through me, of the Okumo clan and it's potential. It grew and spread and as my strength swiftly grew and was showcased, so too did my notoriety. There were whispers of me. Word of robbing graves for sustenance and experimentation. Of the various deaths and murders that occur in villages being my fault. People told their children that if they did not behave, The Defiler would take them.
There were assassination attempts. People who thought that they could do good, could rid the village of a menace, they assaulted me in the streets, in alleys, at the Mist Lake and they would hunt me. From the first week after I proved victorious in my first spar with a chuunin and some realized I could prove an actual threat, shinobi came and tried to see me dead, some nearly succeeding. Still, to this day, I must evade attempts on my life and it is the largest reason that I live without a true home and walk only the overhead highway of the village.
Perhaps this is what love is.
How foolish can man grow?
The end result, of greatest import, is that Konohagakure has seemingly decided that it was best to go to war. They were given the option of surrendering the renegade Shirayuki to us, to apologize for past and present crimes and grievances, or to prepare for war. Their response was less than promising. And so now, we may have to move earlier than expected to crush our enemy beneath our heel.
I have always had something of a separation between myself and those who relied more heavily on emotional drives. The vast majority of people. And as such, I have grown practiced at bridging the gap between me and they in simply understanding when emotion will overthrow logic and how that may be. But there are still moments such as this when I simply cannot understand why a nation would go to war — as it seems Konohagakure is prepared to do — to protect one man that has likely killed more of their people than he has killed in their name. He is a potential weapon, yes, but he could have been used as one without the uproar through more secretive and experimental means.
Furthermore, there was a complete lack of tact and respect in Konohagakure's dealings insofar as this meeting. Even ignoring the fact that they took in one of our fugitives in defiance of inter-village law, lied about it, and then publicly denied us our right to the administration of justice, this meeting between villages was handled just as poorly.
Kirigakure sent their Kage's Aide, one of the Seven Swordsmen, and the heir apparent to the clan the fugitive came from. Konohagakure sent a fairly random and uninfluential chuunin Inuzuka Taiki — Clan Head of the Inuzuka and the only good representative to be chosen — and a shinobi who was neither a member nor a representative of Konohagakure and had absolutely no business attending those proceedings. None of them were diplomatically trained and Inuzuka Taiki, the most diplomatically inclined, had too much pride for effective compromise or amelioration. It was an insult and events proceeded as such.
Things were handled so poorly that I suspect it may have been intentional. A trap, perhaps, to goad Kirigakure into declaring war with them. It makes me wary, but I have seen their forces. Examined their lands and what I could of those nearby. They are not prepared for war. I wonder if there is something more.
But this is Hashiramako's leadership. I do not expect it to last for very much longer.
Subject #32591 — Okumo Sei.
Upon his release to the general population, I have been tasked with the assessment of his capabilities and the development of his abilities for the sake of testing the limits of his brood control, his ability to communicate despite the lack of the ability to speak, his potential for taijutsu and the caliber of hunter shinobi he may be able to become.
It is an inordinately unfortunate time for him to have been released into my care. Here, in Konohagakure, there is much else that would occupy my attentions and there are dangers here that he could be subject to. It is unlike the Okumo clan in that respect. They usually do what they can to allow for the highest chances of success with the least amount of effort. That being to hold off his release until after I returned to Kirigakure, in this case.
But they did not. And so, I have brought him here to Konohagakure to be attended to while I perform my duties here at the chuunin exams. But perhaps that is why they sent him in the first place. To have him be as prepared as possible in the case that war should spring between villages. Or perhaps turbulent times would be a simple testing. Oh he or I. It is difficult to say, at this time. In truth, I believe that there are simply matters I am not aware of that lead to the decision. Regardless, I will obey and carry it out to the best of my abilities. #32591 will earn a name.
Not long after my return from Konohagakure and the third promotion exams, I had received the intelligence that there was a recent genin graduate that was being considered for cultivation as one of Kirigakure's assassins. I knew the girl. I knew part of the reason she was being considered was because of the unique and dangerous weapon she had very recently come to acquire. I was told that she'd made it somewhat known, oddly enough, that it was her desire to enter the field of assassination. And I knew of her level of combat ability, which was somewhere in the realm of the average chuunin.
In the end, I'd decided to give her an opportunity and take her on as a student. I began it by giving her a test to see just what training she was in need of the most. Her task was to make an assassination on Jigon Tekai. Or, more accurately, on myself henged as Tekai.
It was an eye opening experience revealing that the girl would be fairly time intensive. She hadn't even bothered to henge herself when she approached me, and she had too little skill in remaining hidden in places she could also watch from. In the end, she lost track of me and I ended the exercise early. There was much work to see done, it was immediately clear, and I prepared myself to see it completed.
Afterwards, however, she demonstrated an interesting mix of clear talent and blatant inadequacy. In certain areas, she showed nothing short of a natural talent honed by a certain measure of shinobi training, and yet in others, she would speak or perform in ways that suggested a lack of knowledge or practice that would take me by true surprise.
But regardless of her somewhat confusing levels of potential, she failed an important test. It was a test of conscience. It did not mean that she could not become an effective assassin, but it did signify that she could not be the best. I would not waste my time cultivating the second rate. Thus, as of now, she is no longer under my purview and I am redirecting my time back towards other pursuits."
I have decided that it is necessary to improve Kirigakure's income. It could be used on many things, but I will be working to see that the majority of it is used to improve the basic standard of living within the Land of Water. The reasons for doing so are too numerous and obvious to be worth listing but for two things which should be remembered in future times: The recent uprising from the non-shinobi populace, and the hosting of the recent chuunin exams by Konohagakure.
The first portion of my plan to increase Kirigakure's revenue will be to make it more attractive to tourists. The Land of Water is an island, and it must rely on imported goods for many things. The more people that come to our lands, giving both their ryo and their culture, the better the nation stands as a whole. However, it is known more for its cloaking mists and the harshness it contains than for the beautiful places it holds.
That is the first thing that I will seek to change. Not all of the Land of Water's places of beauty are meant for the view of outsiders, but I will renovate and create places that are, beginning with the beaches. And island nation that draws in tourists will nearly always have beaches that are worth speaking of in a positive manner. Many of those with access from the sea, and thus those most well known by outsiders, are covered in kelp, stones, birds, the nests they inhabit, and the feces that they create. The kelp will go, the birds will die, and the stone either moved or sculpted. And then we shall move on.
But recent events have me worried that the effort will be in vain.
It would seem that Yuge has made a misstep.
And one that would be fairly difficult to explain away. He had the criminal record of someone that the world only knows as a traitor of his country expunged. And then he gave them a promotion and titles. There is no explanation to the people as to why Yuge would take someone who, by their laws, should be put to death and reward them for their crimes. And thus, the people are questioning him and his fitness to lead.
There is, of course, much more to the story. The man was told to become a missing-nin to join Konohagakure and be a spy. Things did not go very well in this situation, but that is the core reason he was forgiven of his crimes, promoted, and then sent back to Konohagakure.
Unfortunately, it was handled with an extremely surprising lack of grace. On nearly every level, it was a foolish decision. It truly only allows people to reach one three conclusions. That Hozuki Yuge, our Mizukage, is inept; That Yuge wants Katsurou in Konoha for some reason; or both. And unfortunately, it is beginning to appear that both is the most accurate answer. I'll be surprised if everyone in Konohagakure isn't already treating Katsurou like a spy.
Regardless, Yuge's office is getting a great deal of heat from his decision. I am curious as to just how he will handle the situation.
He is proving to be remarkable.
Even his lackluster results are exceptional for shinobi of his rank and definitely for his age. His determination to survive and avoid becoming a failed experiment leads him to push himself past the point wherein many would have given in. He shows a certain precociousness, my words rarely going without use for him. He grows in leaps and bounds, both in sheer combat capability and in tactic, and I have not yet seen sign of him nearing his wall.
I can only hope that I do not kill him. I am currently in the process of infusing him with minute quantities of some of my most potent poison for the sake of increasing the potency of his own, and doing it at a far more accelerated rate than can guarantee his safety. Provided he survives, there are a great many plans that I have in store for him. His potential is vast, and he may end up becoming one of the Okumo Clan's foremost public accomplishments.
Interpersonal Relationships
~Name | ~Relationship | ~Data |
~Okumo Tsuyosa | DNA Donor | One half of the gene pairing the clan coordinated in my creation. I have met the man a total of four separate instances. Examining his physical form, I appear to have inherited his height, eyes, and hairlessness. He is strong and swift, muscularly lean. It is likely that my favor shall favor the same. He was an oddity in the fact that he was born with Solifugae. There are no other publically recorded cases in which an Okumo was paired with anything other than one of the true spiders, the Araneae. This is the likely reason for his lack of deadly poisons, instead utilizing paralytic agents and his own poison used to cause debilitating pain. His brood is as swift and sturdy as he. It is doubtless only his high intellect that has made him a gifted genjutsuist as well. It is his primary combative study. Should I ever be commanded to, I have between a 68 and a 73 percent chance of killing him in combat. |
~Okumo Chiryoku | Incubator | The second half of my initial genetic makeup. I have never met her. From what I have heard of her, she is also of high intellect and her brood is of the same ilk. It is said that her spiders have the ability to learn independently of her and have managed to use their webs in various interesting ways. A potent genjutsuist, an above average suiton ninjutsuist, with a brood of nearly excessive toxicity. With all knowledge acquired, my hypothesized chances of killing her, should I be required, are between 44 and 47 percent. |
~Name | ~Sex | ~Data |
~Kaguya Tsiro | Male | A young Kaguya who grew up with something to prove. It is unlikely that he will ever feel truly satisfied with the existence he has made. It is the reason that I allow him to keep this dangerous belief that he is stronger than I. It is important to him. And should he ever wish to kill me, it raises the likelihood of my success from 66 percent to 72 percent. Be sure to regularly observe and adjust your perception of his strength, Meruin. He is one to grow in swift bursts, and it is foolishness to make the same mistake of underestimation. |
~Kaguya Odori Takeshi | Male | An aged Kaguya, who has given much of his life to the service of the village. He has done the same with his family. This sacrifice has driven him to fill the holes left with strays and vagrants, taking in many as his wards. He is a caring individual in the fact that he has need of someone to love and give affection to. I acknowledge the chance that if he were to lose too many more before he died that he would lose his sanity and become dangerous and unpredictable. It would be a shame. He has done great service. I respect it. Odds of straightforward victory are approximately 79 percent. |
~Doihara Ishino | Male | A member of one of the few — if not the only — puppeteer families who joined Kirigakure during the forming of the villages. Punctual, polite, thoroughly aware of his personal appearances, knowledgable of poisons due to puppeteering, and a genjutsuist. He is, at outward appearances, more trustworthy than many others. However, due to his polished veneer, I have seen too little of his true thoughts to judge it's validity or him as a person. Chances of victorious deadly combat are set at a tentative 50%. I hope for the opportunity to see more of his personality. |
~Mizukiyo Chiaki | Female | A genin on the inept side of shinobi life. She is, however, not averse to learning or effort, from what I can tell. With her having been originally from Konohagakure and having been convinced to join Kirigakure by Kaguya Tsiro no less (He is not adept at inspirational empathy), there is a measure of personal suspicion placed on her. But it is minimal, as of now. We shall see if she makes anything of herself. Victory is 97% assured. |
~Asano Soren | Male | A traveler with a combat prosthetic that replaces both the arm and forearm. He is a man that has not been taught the benefits of silence in certain situations. He is brash, abrasive, cocky, and attempting to be insulting, though I suspect he is much more so to me than many others. I have attempted to teach him his err and some fear, but he escaped before I could do so. It is likely that I will either take his other arm away, or kill him, should I decide that the last warning was not enough. Chances of victory sit at 87 percent. Remaining cautious. |
~Kaguya Kiku | Female | A generalist, about average with genjutsu, seal work, and taijutsu. She is impulsive and somewhat difficult to control, this recently leading to her punishment. She is also under Kaguya Takeshi's protection. She is beneath excessive attention but for her interest in forbidden fuuinjutsu. Chances of victory stand at a 89 percent likelihood. |
~Hozuki Aishio | Female | Young girl, open and still caring of the opinion of those around her. She disobeys quite a bit, has a penchant for seeing too much, and no doubt considers it all to be a part of her appeal. I believe some trauma will help to improve her world view. But she is young. Definitely time to enjoy innocence yet. Chances of victory are virtually one hundred percent. |
~Shirayuki Sakuryu | Female | I know little of her as of now, though perhaps more than I should. During the time that the clan had told me that I would have to kill someone dear to me as a punishment, I introduced myself, kissed her and took her on a date in the knowledge that they were watching and the hopes that they would choose her to kill. During the time, I acted as I would have when I was 8. I knew the endeavor was a useless one, and even put little effort into making it convincing. It is one of the few times of my life that I was notably illogical. I have seen nothing of her for some time. It is of little consequence. Chances of victory are indeterminate. |
~Onimitsu no Kirigakure | Male | An armored man, full of oddity but personal honor. He seems to own disassociated personalities and may potentially possess a possessed blade. In the past, he has shown himself to be of inferior quality as a ninja. Most recently, he has surprised me. His chances of defeat have been lowered from 94 percent certainty to 92 percent. |
~Aoki Ichihoshi | Male | A kenjutsuist and suiton ninjutsuist. He accompanied on a single mission and appeared to be a fairly inept shinobi for a chuunin. Kirigakure especially. Chance of victory is 96 percent. |
~Sayomi Sumiko | Female | A suiton ninjutsuist with a level of introversion nearly as powerful as mine can be. Her inability to extend herself towards others has, to my estimation, stunted her ability to utilize her clones, confining her to using them for defensive purposes. With any fortune, my meddling has provided her a path to practice reaching out. Even if she does not desire to. If not, it is her own issue, unless she should seek me out for further training. Keeping the last session in mind, however, I consider this unlikely. I know nothing else of her. Should I need to kill her, I have an approximate 97% chance. |
~Suterusu | Undetermined | An ally from Sunagakure. A specialist in shadow clones, stealth, and by extension, assassination (likely assumption). Soft spoken, dangerous, polite, and apparently dutiful. They also collect the eyes of the worthy of those they kill. Recently, after being heavily wounded by them after offering them chance to take my eyes, I lost control and attempted to kill them. They escaped, but I may have aggravated or offended them beforehand. I will have to be sure to send them a pair of eyes at a time when I can be sure recovery won't impede my duties in an attempt at amelioration. Chances of victory in a battle, 79 percent. Chances during an assassination attempt: 41 percent. |
~Aspect of Relationship | ~Data |
~Friendship | She is the only person I have ever shared this relationship with. She is my only friend. There are few times that I think of her and her daughter that I do not wish to apologize for it. For laying that burden on her. How it happened is a simple matter of vulnerability. When I was 8, older than most adults, but younger than I'd thought, I'd met her. And she was… vulnerable. She was… see-through. She could not speak very well, but I felt as though I understood her every word, her every movement. And it was not because I was particularly perceptive, but because she tried to show me… and because we were alike. In too many ways, we were akin to one another. Far, far too many ways. It allowed her to slip under my guard. |
~Nurturing | This is an aspect of our relationship purely because it is in aspect of Yuuka's character. Though she doesn't bring it to every occasion, it is not something she tries to hide. This is a fairly one-sided aspect of our relationship. She doesn't need to grow in any of the ways I can help her develop. I would only ruin her. She, however, seems to possess a great many things that I thirst for. From the start, there was a connection of some sort. I couldn't keep it out, but I could keep it in most times. And though I was filled with it, I couldn't accept it. To feel it and yet not allow myself to experience it… It is akin to what I imagine those who have become emaciated must feel. Given food to find that by the time it has come, it is too alien for the body to accept. Eat and drink, take your fill, and you die from the indulgence. It has always been so. From that first time, at 8, when she'd fed me my first taste of compassion meant for me alone, I knew… It was something that I needed. But to take it would kill me. At least it has begun to taper off, recently. |
~Yuriko | Yuuka's daughter. She was quite the surprise. After I'd returned to Kirigakure from my… vacation from life, I'd stumbled into Yuuka. Rather, I was sitting at the edge of the memorial cliff and she entered the area herself. It was the most terrifying thing I'd felt since I'd had my first mission failure in Kumogakure. I nearly couldn't hold myself in, pretending that I had never met her long enough to leave. But before I left, I saw the bundle she'd been carrying. Her daughter. Those last steps away from the memorial were… difficult. She is a bright girl in the sense that she… shines. Cheerful in a way that I believe to be contagious to most, full of energy and wonder and ignorance of the world's harshness to that point that she holds no reservations, even with me. I envy her, that her mother is Yuuka who would love her in a way few get to know. I wonder at her. If she is anything of how I was at that age. If she is anything like how I could have been, were I born to parents rather than the clan. And I cannot help but wonder… How will life spoil a purity such as hers? A morbid curiosity, perhaps born of jealousy, perhaps simply the human desire to know. But I ask myself every now and again. Fate, or the deities, or luck, or the sheer fact of sentient existence would not allow such a purity to survive forever. Her father is already gone. What else will life take before her smile fades and her laughter quiets? Will it take her mother? Her self-image? What traumas will she have to endure? In the end… the only hope I can have is that I will not have to deliver them. |
~First Kiss | She believes that she has been given it. She'd said as much in an attempt to get me to remember her that evening at the memorial. It is, of course, untrue. But I wish it were not. And that worries me. |
~Love? | Perhaps so. Love has ever been hard to pin down, and by those who spend their lives searching, examining, reveling in it. Who am I, a boy who has virtually no personal experience in sincere emotional attachment, to say that I know what true love is? To say that I've found it, that I hold it? But it cannot be ignored as an option. Yuuka was the one to give me my first hug when I was nine — an experience I return to in my moments of endurance. Her daughter was the one who gave me my second when I was thirteen, seven months back. She is the one I kissed for the pure purpose of sharing myself, just that once. She is the one I pretended not to know upon my return… the one that I kissed Shirayuki Sakuryu for… in the fragile hope that I would not be commanded to kill her by the clan. She is the one that makes my heart race until I can suppress the excitement. She is… important to me. As noone else is. It is confusing, and frightening, and painful, but above all else, dangerous. Meaningful relationships are rope. Love itself is a noose. I live the life of a shinobi who is more weapon than man. A weapon of strong make will not often perish. But a man knows death like the earth knows the sky. It thinks, always, that it is far far above, so distant a thing… and then when the winds shifts and the storms hit, it realizes that the sky had always been touching it. Had always been right next to it. I may just love this woman. And I fear that if I do, it ill make me more man than weapon. And she will be the death of me. Not because my heart will stop beating. But because hers would. And what would I be without the only thing I love in the world? |
~Fear | I fear that I love her. I fear that I do not. I fear that if I asked her to love me, she would not return my feelings. I fear that if I asked her to love me, she would grow to love me back. I fear that she will take my distance as dislike and grow to hate me. I fear that that is what is the best for the both of us. I fear that this confusion and uncertainty will last. And I fear that once it comes time for this to be resolved, once and for all, that the choice I make will be the wrong one. |
~Trust | She is the most likely object of my demise at the moment. Despite this, I have a fairly high level of trust in her. In her abilities and her character. Whether or not she trusts me, I cannot say with a surety. While I am sure most everyone else does not, I cannot read if she knows some of the thoughts that run through my mind. But perhaps she should not trust me. I've put my chances of killing her in a necessary confrontation at 84%. It would be exceedingly difficult. But if commanded… I would make the attempt. |

~Hozuki Yuge | Mizukage | The third ruler of Kirigakure. Notably tame compared to the past two. It's likely the reason that he is still alive. It will also likely be the reason for his death, and the reason Kirigakure has lost some of the edge that has enabled it to tear into those who would wage war with it. He is polite, unassuming with his power, and careful. It is likely that we can get much from this one before his replacement rises and takes his throne. |
~Shirayuki Aoitsuki | Swordsman | Wielder of the notorious Samehada, as well as a Shirayuki, Aoitsuki is assumed to be well adept in the use of chakra and the channeling of it for the use of various ninjutsu. I have also been told that she is interested in approaching me for the quality of my silk. Otherwise, there is little I know of the woman. Chances of victory in battle are indeterminate. |
~Kaguya Yuuka | Swordsman | Wielder of Kubikiribocho. She has a daughter named Yuriko. Her husband Keisuke was killed. She'd originally come to Kirigakure after having been discovered as a stray and escapee from genetic experimentation. She's left with a sort of telepathy and telekinesis that seems to be limited to her Shikotsumyaku. Chances of victory in battle are 84% |
~Uzumaki Isra | Swordsman | Wielder of Shibuki. First encountered her on a mission wherein we ended up on opposite sides of a competition to secure an expensive prize, the legendary Zithim. She had to be subdued so that I could complete my mission. She held a grudge that lasted until I allowed her to hit me a few times with he exploding weapon. As a whole, she is an inept user of Shibuki and fairly simple in personality. Unextraordinary. Chances of victory are 94 percent. |
~Kira Akari | Swordsman | Met the recently returned Swordsman on mission to kill a group who had, for some reason, attempted to trick the village into attacking Kumogakure. She is the wielder of Kiba, and fairly proficient with the weapons. However, she does not appear to be a very capable leader, so expect to take on that aspect in any mission that you have here she is designated the mission head. And remember to keep in mind that she is a dangerous character. AvoId things that would provoke a sensitive person around her. Chances of victory lie between 80 and 92 percent. |
~Kuroki Kuoroke | Councilman | A councilman of Sunagakure who only has jurisdiction over me whenever I am on official business within the Land of Wind. Suspicious, heavy handed in his decisions, largely tactical in mindset, but sometimes unaware of the effects of his actions as they relate to people. Dedicated and good for his home. Chance of victory are indeterminate. |

~Kuroenko Sekisetsu | Ex Courter | A swift tempered, ill-mannered, spoiled brat of a child. She was easily baited by my demeanor, offended by my excellence, and intimidated by youth. All of which made her angry. Moderately capable with seals, genjutsu, and katon ninjutsu at an above average genin level, despite only being a student herself. I'd subdued her when she moved to steal my first kiss. After learning what her intent was, I gave it to her. Nearly a friend in my youth. I haven't seen her in six years. I do not know to where she has gone. |
~Gansao Kitaru | Student/Danger | A man with a moral sense sometimes lacking within the bounds of Kirigakure's mists. He came to me for training, despite being a genjutsuist and me having little knowledge in it's actual creation. And so we trained. The most prominent moment in that training was when I ordered him to send me falling off of a mountainside into a fall that few people would be able to survive. He refused. I wore him down to a point where he managed to send me off of the mountain, but saved me afterwards. His inability to break his loyalty was something I considered commendable, even as I sought to ease him away from the ideal. I respected it. When I returned, I'd learned that he'd been killed in the promotion exams that I had missed. Perhaps it was for the best. He could have become a friend. |
~Kaguya Mitsuo | Superior | The first Mizukage. Powerful, driven, and potent in his vision. He was the largest reason, in my estimation, for Kirigakure's initial power in the Shinobi world. Kaguya Mitsuo was the reason that we were able to retaliate after being attacked by Konohagakure and spur the first war after the Clan Wars. The reason that, in that War of the Waves, we were able to leave Kumogakure's lands and home in ruins. But I do not regret that he has vanished without trace. He would have led us into the light of the sun, and we'd have burned in it. |
~Kaguya Yasushi | Commander | The first Mizukage's right hand. Kaguya Yasushi was, it seemed, half of Mitsuo's power. Extremely powerful, commanding to the highest extent, and capable of the highest levels of inspiration. He was capable of evoking emotion behind my walls that I couldn't always quash as I had been raised to do. Now that I have grown into my body and gained power in my age, he is the taijutsuist I seek to emulate most. His form was perfect, it's effects potent. And something about his ferality calls to me… I must take care with his memory and how it effects me. |
~Himitsunoi Masanori | Student | First known by the title Shinigami, he came to Kirigakure aboard a ship filled with the mutilated and tar covered corpses of pirates. He had an interesting history and reasoning for being here. He was not excessively powerful when considering shinobi as a whole, but he could be deadly, surprising, and unique. His oddly defined set of scruples and general lack of remorse for violence and killing had made him somewhat unpredictable. He had need of social reformation, or he would have doubtless done something to drive someone to murder. I had wondered at whether or not he would be able to tame himself enough to be accepted by society as there was much to learn from and about him. My position as his overseer was neither accident nor unwelcome. His potential has been lost, however, as he'd allegedly uselessly given his life to save a child. He was not suited towards the situation. I'd hoped he'd have been smarter than to run into flames as a being of tar. |
