Background
Oshiro Yuko
Yuko was born to a family with a history of being masonry workers, in particular building the stone structures and fortifications for various villages, towns and outposts. The family was basically a work crew for hire, doing what was needed for whoever paid the most. Their work was purely defensive. They never built offensive weapons, although some of their defensive work could be pretty lethal to those who attempted to storm their more creatively protected buildings always ran the risk of injury.
Yuko's family has been in this business for generations. They have run work crews across the five lands, hired out as needed for warlords, daimyos, even a few clan heads now and then. Yuko's father was the second in command of the family when he was born. The family had limited earth jutsu skills, they used standard techniques for dealing with large stones.
Yuko was not particularly strong as a child, in fact he was a bit of a runt. The youngest of 4 brothers, he ended up being kept 'safe' most of them time rather than working in the quarry sites or building sites like his older siblings. As a result he started to hang around the medic tent and started to learn things there, like how to treat basic injuries and when something was bad enough that you needed to seek greater medical help.
As his older brothers all were working well with the family and Yuko in fact wasn't really needed but was doing well with medical training, he was given a choice. The family had been in Kumo at the time and his father made a deal to have his son basically made a genin with probational training status due to his medical training, with the village promising to train him up fully over time. A rather hefty donation was made along with the promise from the Oshiro family to ensure things went smoothly.
That deal was made on Yuko's 16th birthday. He has just started to help around Kumo and needs to be trained, but yet has official status as a genin despite his lack of shinobi skills.
Personality
Oshiro Yuko, what is there to say? The youngest son of many, and the runt of the pack by far. His brothers at least were good natured about it and only playfully teased him about his size and appearance. His name? That was his mother's choice. Yuko's not sure but he thinks that she picked the name because she wanted at least one daughter. Yuko tries to go by Yukio a more masculine name, when he can.
Because of his time in the medic clinic helping there instead of the quarries he's seen hurt people and has an innate desire to help those who are injured. He cares deeply about other people, perhaps too much for his own good.
Socially? He's as clumsy as they come. He spent most of his time with his nose buried in books, not learning how to interact with people, and it shows. He often approaches things with a gutsy determination and an optimistic attitude that most seem to find appealing but when it comes to actually making friends or more, well… let's just say he's never been on a real date.
He likes to think the best of people when he can but despises being tricked or lied to by others for their own self gain. Basically you have his trust until you cross him. Once crossed it will take a lot to rebuild that trust again though. He feels he should hold himself to the same standard and so tries very hard not to treat others poorly or 'use' them.
Appearance
This teen stands only about 1.5 meters tall, or if want just a hair under 5 feet tall. His build is lanky, and thin. Not so much so that he looks frail, just not bulky in any meaningful way. His blonde hair has a hint of red, that shimmers more red than blonde in the right light. His hair is cut short, in a curt kind of trimmed way, feathered back, and short on the sides, with no sideburns at all. His face is perfectly smooth, with no sign of facial hair at all. His skin is pale and fair, the kind that might burn easily.
His eyes are a rather strange shade of green, almost jade green, which can be noticed even behind the pair of goggles he wears. With high cheek bones and a smallish nose, his face has a bit of a feminine look to it that is only broken up by his thin lips. He wears no jewelry of any sort. His teeth and fingernails meticulously clean. He has sort of a bookish look to him in truth.
His outfit consists of a light fabric blue t-shirt with a fishnet mesh effect from the neck down to the short sleeves of it and down part of the back. A simple black belt wraps around his waist with a few loops and pouches designed for various shinobi tools, but right now no tools are apparent. The few pouches along the belt look empty as well.
His pants are light brown and made of loose flowing fabric that looks well made to keep the wearer cool in the heat. Just below the knees starts some leather lacing that goes from there down and crisscrosses to a pair of tobi shoes. Finally on the back of each forearm is strapped a leather arm protector with some metal strips to provide additional protection. Etched into the metal of these protectors are two symbols. On the right arm is the symbol for the Kumogakure village, and on the left arm is the universal symbol for medical Ninja corps.
Relationships
Oshiro Yuko has two types of relationships so far. Those with the Oshiro Family, a group of builders and construction experts who work on fortifications and other such buildings around the known shinobi world.
The second set of relationships are more recent, related to those he has met in Kumogakure and include people like his Sensei and those related to that group. Most of these relationships are fairly new and so may change over time but for now he hopes that he can call them friends at least

Younger of the twin brothers that were closer in age to Yuko. This brother was the one who most often teased Yuko and made fun of his name, often calling him Yuko-ko and trying to make Yuko appear foolish. Sometimes used pranks against Yuko, and the least liked of his older brothers by Yuko. |
