Background
Reizei Kenichi has lived, for the most part, a privileged life. Never wanting for nothing and knowing only the luxuries of an aristocratic life style. He grew up loved, if not a bit despised by those less fortunate, and yet always wore a smile all the same. Kenichi has, thus far, avoided the politics of Kumogakure, his Clan, and of the Shinobi world; which has left him with a rather skewed and ignorant perspective of the violence that plagues the Lands and Hidden Villages.
Kenichi’s years following the formation of the Villages was a simple life of Reizei rearing: being taught the Clans expectations, hidden techniques, and etiquettes of Shinobi royalty. Yet despite the burdens placed on the youth Kenichi always found time to skip his studies and ditch his work in favor of hunting, exploring the surrounding areas, or simply finding a nice spot to nap upon.
The only time Kenichi ever grew serious in his years at the Academy was from the threat of excommunication from the Clan or a swift beating from his parents should he not take to his studies seriously; or at the very least earn someone’s approval as far as expectations went amongst the Reizei. His life has always been one of pushing the envelope and skating a very thin line. At the end of the day all he ever does is lounge about, look into the sky, and sleep his time away. Whether the world beyond the Academy or Clan Reizei will change him remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain: Kenichi will always be a child at heart.
Clan
The Reizei are a very old fashioned aristocratic clan, modeling themselves in much the same way as the Hyuga of Konohagakure. There is a core main family, who learn all the secret techniques of the clan. Then there are the retainers — the descendants of the children who initially did not inherit the Kekkei Genkai. They may not be able to learn the final techniques, but they are still quite respected amongst the ninja of the Village, and dedicate themselves to defending their clan and their Village.
When the Saito rose from 'common' ninja to the powerful role of royal guards for the Raikage, the Reizei felt there was a reason for resentment of the other clan. They do not understand how an obviously more powerful and more qualified clan - and one with a Hidenjutsu, as well - could be passed over for the respected role of protecting the Raikage himself. This lead to a rivalry between the Reizei and Saito, which most Reizei took quite seriously, and which many take seriously to this day.
Loyalty is the Reizei mantra: to Village and clan above all else. They dedicate themselves, like many of their Village, to the usage of a weapon, almost to the exclusion of all else. The main family is rather arrogant: they are nobility, and they know it. They expect their scions to be leaders; those who don't pass the Chuunin exam the first time are shunned. The branch is little better: they serve one of the great houses and are quite proud of this. It is their honor to protect them.
Those of the main line specialize in one thing: the sword. The most skilled of this line are able to move, draw, cut, and sheathe their blade so fast the eye simply cannot follow. This is the influence of their Kekkei Genkai. They see this fighting style as being akin to the fury of a storm, battering their enemies with other means and then suddenly striking like lightning.
The clan's branch line tends to use whatever weapons they wish, though they often gravitate towards spears and kusarigama. Despite this, they still manage to incorporate the Swift Shintai Battojutsu style into different sorts of weapons. Not being restricted by a single weapon style like the main family has allowed the retainers to develop creative applications of their sudden bursts of speed. This has lead them to be amongst the more dangerous ninja in the Village.
Swift Manipulation is a unique Kekkei Genkai which allows an individual to move at instantenous speeds with the aid of their unique Kekkei Genkai's chakra. This speed applies to physical movements and can be paired with melee weapons in order to create rapid devastating jutsu.

A teenager in his early years, with bleach blonde hair and black highlights, bright green eyes, mocha tanned skin, and standing at five feet six inches enters your vision.
The teenager can be described as handsome, or at the very least considered cute: his face is symmetrical, with small full lips, and a button nose. His hair is a mess of windswept blonde locks with black highlights trailing the tips that are rather well groomed despite the lack of care; his bangs are also quite long and hang freely in wide arks. Each eye is wide, brightly green, and seemingly catches the light. The boys skin is healthy, tanned, and a rich bronze mocha. His physique can be considered athletic, not overly muscular, and fit; suggestive of someone who can sprint or run long distances for miles.
He wears rather baggy black slacks tied off by a white sash, a tight and sleeveless black shirt tucked into the white sash, and a few tribal adornments, forearm sleeves, and extravagant jewelry around his wrists, ankles, and neck. Each foot is covered by a pair of jabi-taki sandals of worn hides and dyed in black. A tight thick belt is looped around his waist that holds two short blades: one at his mid-drift and another at his hip (the weapons are sheathed into their respective scabbards).
Personality
Kenichi is lazy, aloof, and a shirker of his responsibilities; relying all too much on his Clan name, wealth, and breeding to compensate for his lack luster motivation. Kenichi has a good heart all the same, and isn’t one to rub his heritage in someone’s face, unless it will suit his own interests; so his moralities are questionable at best. But he doesn’t intentionally seek to harm or abuse others in malicious ways; he’s only fourteen after all and can’t quiet grasp the severity of Clan hatreds, Kumogakure normatives, and the Shinobi’s taboos.
Kenichi is a bit of a prankster and jokester as well and is always seeking to have a good time: be it loafing about, teasing others, or enjoying a relaxing plate of pie. Kenichi is like an old man in his retiring years with hints of childlike tendencies, able to enjoy peace and boredom, and just take life a step at a time: completely care free. He tries not to linger on troubles or carry a chip on his shoulder that his elders and family seem determined to place there.

Another lazy day, I escaped the lecturings of that old fart and his incessant need to teach me how to be a Reizei. Let’s see him find me in the mountains. You’d think for being so skilled the Old Man could find a little ol kid like myself easy. Pops if you are reading this mind your own business and leave me alone so I can sleep. You’re cutting into my dreams.
I don’t get what all the hub bub is about this Shinobi crap. A little chakra molding here, a few hand seals there, and bamf I’m a speed demon slicing the air, and making Kenjutsu look good. At least the Old Man is off my case. I guess if I keep this tiresome swordplay up he’ll get off my back. Honestly, who cares if I can swing a sword. I’d rather be eating pie with the ladies of Komo anyway and flirting my way into their hearts.
Another damn lecture. Doesn’t the Old Man get tired of this shit? Mom should grow a frigging pair and tell him to lay off like I asked her to. I’m passing my classes, so what’s the deal? Sure, I suck at a few things, but we can’t all be friggen geniuses in everything. When am I ever going to use this nonsense anyways? I should be learning how to sweet talk the chicks not throwing fucking Kunai. At least it's the holidays.
Blessed to be a part of this Clan? My ass I’m blessed. I’d be blessed if I could be left alone, but here we are spending a full two hours swinging a god damn piece of metal. My arms hurt, my legs are sore, and my ass cheeks feel like they want to fall off. God I hate my Old Man.

| The one saving grace for Kenichi is his natural born aptitude for Taijutsu and the Clan’s hidden techniques of Shintai Battoujutsu. The forms, postures, and executions of such abilities come to him naturally, so much so his elders have said his gifts are wasted on him; due to his inability or want to take his training seriously. The only time he does actually sit down and listen is at the threat of pain or his escrow being terminated. Even at his age Keinichi wields the blade of a Clan Reizei like the predecessors before him: with a fearsome display of power and speed. |
| Kenichi is lazy and there is no two ways around that fact; whether due to a lack of motivation, the ease of being born into an aristocratic family, or simply being naturally gifted giving him a false sense of confidence. Because of Kenichi’s refusal to study, train, or apply himself, his talents have also regrettably suffered in many areas; and not for a lack of talent either. Kenichi may boast being a prodigal Genin, but in reality his Ninjutsu (Genjutsu more specifically) are below the standards for even an Academy to qualify as average. |
