Background

Setsuno Suki is a new Genin of Sunagakure. She was born to Setsuno Renzo, the late brother of Kokoroe Sousa, and Setsuno Mai. Suki's family recently arrived in Sunagakure, after the death of her father in the distant Southern
Lands. She has been trained in ninja arts, but is still young and is only Genin-level. During the introductions of Suki's mother and Suki herself to the Kazekage, after waiting to get an appointment and so on, the Two-Tailed Monster-Cat appeared near the Village and began to rampage. Kokoroe Sousa, with the aid of other ninja of the Hidden Sand, managed to subdue the monstrous Bijuu, but only temporarily.

Making a quick decision, Sousa realized he had to have a long-term vessel for the Two-Tails to keep it from mucking things up and ruining his experiments. To that end, he had his niece summoned, and with her mother's consent (more to avoid causing familial strife than out of concern for her feelings) he sealed the Two-Tails in Suki. Suki had spent most of her life training in the ways of Chi manipulation, controlling her emotions, and exercising willpower. Despite — or perhaps because of — her youth, she was the perfect recepticle for the Two-Tails. She could keep herself under control even with such a monster inside of her. Hopefully, at least.

Suki was enlisted as a ninja of Sunagakure, and her mother and Suki herself have taken up residence in the Village — which is why they travelled there to begin with.

+ Reveal: Diminished Ninjutsu

Suki is new to ninja stuff. She has the basic skills down, but having spent the majority of her training focusing on martial arts (and not even necessarily the type generally classed as 'Taijutsu' by ninja), the more mystical skills of the shinobi are still something she is trying to learn how to grasp.

+ Reveal: Starting Style

Suki has been training for years now under monks similar to those who raised and taught Kokoroe Sousa, the current Kazekage. A different branch from those monks, who include female monks (as is not uncommon in historical China or Japan. There is an entire order of primarily female monks in Japanese history known as the 'Sohei' who specialized in staff-fighting). Thus, Suki has learned how to use that style of fighting taught by monks, just like Sousa.

Personality

+ Reveal: Personality

Suki is a subdued girl, who seems to keep her cool even in very stressful situations. She has enormous respect for her parents, and to a slightly lesser extent, to Sousa — her uncle. She did not resist or doubt for even a moment when she was informed she would be the vessel of an enormous Chakra monster, which would likely share her body with her until the day she died. It was her mother's wish that this be the case, and — her absolute trust in her mother aside — she simply was respecting the wishes of her parent. She has been trained by monks similar to those who raised Sousa, and by ninja, and thus while she understands the rigours of ninja training, she also places the teachings of the monks above the ideals of the shinobi world. This does mean she lacks knowledge of what it's like to be a ninja, the hardships they face, and is largely ignorant of the world outside of the Southern Lands. She has seen some of it during the long voyage from that distant continent to the Land of Wind, but the world of ninja is still new to Suki, and actually quite amazing in many ways.

The customs are different, the eating habits, the clothing, even the furniture. Suki is used to a much more austere life — one of discipline, sometimes going without food or only eating a modest amount. The Southern Lands are a dangerous place these days, torn apart by constant warfare. She is used to showing respect for the spiritual world, the deceased, authority figures, and especially family. Those who are coarse, rude, or outright insulting are treated with tolerance to the best of Suki's ability, but she is also not quite as wise or self-controlled as her mother, and thus it is possible that — under extreme stress — she might give in to anger or act more rashly. She still avoids violence when possible, preferring diplomacy or subterfuge to outright conflict.

Despite her discipline, Suki is still a youngster. She can enjoy having fun, spending time with friends, and she still feels emotions. She just keeps them under control usually, and has not had much opportunity to make friends before.

+ Reveal: Matatabi

The Two-Tails is a mystery to Suki. While she is presently attempting to simply ignore it, she is likely to eventually attempt to converse with it. She is also likely to treat it respectfully or at least politely. However, the Two-Tails might not abide by simply nice treatment since Suki has no intention of freeing the creature. She has been given a responsibility by her mother and by "Uncle Sousa". She must keep this creature contained. Thus, no matter how much she may apologize to the Bijuu for the inconvenience, she will continue handling this responsibility properly. It is possible friendship — or at least cooperation — may eventually occur between these two. But in the meantime, the Two-Tails is likely to offer bad advice, attempt to persuade Suki to do things that would result in its freedom or her loss of control, taunt and pick at her, and so on.

The fact Suki would likely be unmoved by such initially may simply infuriate the Monster-Cat even more. Suki is unclear on many things about the world of shinobi, but she will likely hear eventually of Rurohashi Rinako, a hero who once held a similar monster within her and is now a respected leader. She may go to Rinako for advice on how to deal with the new "guest" in her body.

Appearance

Suki is just barely a teenager, by the looks of her. No more than 4'8" tall, with long, blue-black hair frequently up in a ponytail. She has purple-red eyes, is frequently very calm, and has the build one would expect of a young teen. She is still developing, and lacks the more notable musculature that an older kunoichi would. Still, she is deceptively athletic, with a toned body that only becomes evident in its agility, strength, and durability when Suki is forced to act.

Suki wears either a simple, sleeveless brown dress with leather sandals when she is being a civilian, or a more involved and ninja-appropriate outfit when she is 'on-duty'.

She might not have grasped the full implications, but she understood enough. There was a monster, and it was very powerful, and Suki was expected to keep it contained. Pretty straight-forward. She knows her mother would not wish harm upon her, so Suki trusts Mai implicitly.
Setsuno Renzo	Father	Suki can't remember much about her father. He died when she was still very young, but she remembers enough to know she felt the same about as him as she does her mother. She trusted him to do what was best, to know best… And she would have done anything he asked of her.
Rurohashi Rinako	Sifu	Suki feels like she can trust Rinako and be open and honest with her. Out of everyone Suki has encountered in her relatively short life thus far, the Council Woman is the most different, strange, and yet… Comforting. Suki didn't know why she felt this way about the ex-Jinchuuriki, but just over a few meetings they have become extremely close. Suki trusts Rinako, admires her, and wants to be just like her someday.

But she's also not sure this Bijuu is the same as the one that Rinako once held… What if the Two-Tails isn't bad after all…? That doubt is making her more susceptible to hearing what the Two-Tails has to say to her.

+ Show 02/18/13 - Entry #01: Sifu Rinako

Today I was asked by Uncle Sousa to deliver a letter to Councilwoman Rurohashi Rinako, a hero of the Hidden Sand. Upon arrival, she was preoccupied with some sort of interesting-looking book about massages and pressure points. Or I believe that was what it was about. Kishi-Kishi Love Quadrangle is not a very descriptive title. She was initially disbelieving of my identity, but upon having it confirmed and reading the scroll from Uncle Sousa, Sifu Rinako's demeanor changed. She became quite serious, told me about the "Tailed Beasts" and made me think about what I intended to do now that I was a "Jinchuuriki". She will apparently be my instructor now. I feel as if I can be open with her, to speak my mind… But that goes contrary to everything I have been taught thus far. Respect one's elders, and do not speak unless spoken to. It has served me well in my thirteen years of life. Why do I feel it might not be correct now? Or at least… As though it is not correct when speaking to Sifu Rinako?

+ Show 02/20/13 - Entry #02: To Protect

I had my first training session with Sifu Rinako today, at the ninja academy's training grounds. It was very interesting to see the difference between children of the Land of Wind and my homeland. The children here are loud, outspoken, and prone to tackling and clinging to their elders. They are also very energetic, enthusiastic, and… Passionate about their beliefs. It seems the purpose of ninja is "to protect". I engaged in a training exercise in which I was to keep a scroll away from other children. The ultimate objective was to be the one holding the scroll at the end of the time limit. Though I initially forfeited the scroll to Sifu Rinako to spare myself harm, a kunoichi by the name of Aoi teamed up with me and used her clever strategizing to earn us both the reward for having the scroll. I would have just stood by and let others win if not for her. I hate fighting. It scares me a great deal. But maybe if I have friends, I can tolerate it some times.

+ Show 02/22/13 - Entry #03: I Feel Pretty, Oh So Pretty~

Sifu Rinako asked me to wait outside the Sunagakure Item Shop and to be there at 6 a.m. SHARP. I did. Eleven hours later, she arrived and we went inside to get me ninja equipment, clothing, and so on. She was very nice, explaining that things related to ninja missions, basic equipment for such, and so on, was all being paid for by the Village itself to keep their ninja supplied. She also bought me a pretty dress with her own money! Sifu Rinako is so great! She's strong, and pretty, and popular, and everyones respects and admires her! And she's kind and generous too. I can only hope that some day I can be as good of a person as she is.

+ Show 02/23/13 - Entry #04: It Hurts

Sifu Rinako took me out on a C-Rank mission. I was kind of scared at first, but after a few days with nothing happening, I just decided to keep calm and let her handle things. She kept telling me sometimes violence is necessary — to protect oneself, to protect another, or to protect one's Village. She said that this is what ninja are. I am not longer so sure I want to be a ninja. I do not want to take lives or engage in violence upon other people's faces. And on this mission, I thought I saw Sifu Rinako cut down in front of me. I thought I saw her die. It turned out to be a deception, but it hurt. It hurt so badly. And then the "Two-Tails" spoke to me and told me how to make it stop hurting. She gave me her Chakra — she gave me her POWER. She gave it to me because I had none to protect anyone with. I used it, and I nearly killed the man who attacked Sifu Rinako. I intended to stop before it got to that point, but… When he chose to stand and fight instead of running away, I think somewhere inside I accepted he was going to be killed, even if I had to turn myself over to the Two-Tails to do it.

Just… Just so that the blood wasn't on my hands. That's awful isn't it? That's an awful, cowardly thig to do. It's in complete violation of all I've ever been taught, all I've ever been known. But in the end, the real Rinako appeared and stopped me from killing the enemy. She had been fighting enemies of her own. The man escaped, and… The Two-Tails willingly withdrew her Chakra from me. She turned me back to normal after my body had changed… Is she really as bad as Sifu Rinako thinks? Two-Tails-san helped me. She did not have to, but she did. She gave me power when I needed it, then let me return to being "me" again when I did not.

I think… I want to talk with her more. After I am done healing, that is. My body feels burned all over. My skin is raw. I just… Hurt… So much.
