Thirty-four years ago two individuals were born within the Land of Water, specifically into the Shimizu Clan. Shimizu Matsu and Shimizu Yuriko were born months apart and from an early age were the closest of friends. They were raised within the old era of their clan, where their special abilities were kept secret, and trained as prominent healers. As they grew so did their connection, finally accumulating into a relationship and love. They served the clan faithfully as apothecaries and healers, under the leadership of Shimizu Haruo, and found peace as they never bothered with the conflicts of other clans. The two married and shortly after brought forth into their lives a child.
Born twelve years ago, Shimizu Kouhei was brought into this world and named after positive aspects his parents wanted to instill within him. The birth was uneventful, however upon seeing their child both parents knew something was different about him. Kouhei was born with white-gray hair, very pale skin, and crimson eyes. One or two of these traits was not unheard of within the Shimizu clan, due to their bodies' unique blood, but all three was never seen within one child. Beyond his physical characteristics the child was utterly normal when it came to his health. As with any birth within the clan, Kouhei was introduced publicly to all of his family before being taken home by his parents.
The early years of Kouhei's life were not that much different than any other child, with one exception. During the third year of Kouhei's life three important events occurred. First was the formation of Kirigakure, an event which would impact the world as we know it. The second event was Shimizu Harou publicly revealing one of the secrets of his clan, that being the healing nature of their blood, and thereby cementing them as one of the founding clans of the village. And finally, towards the end of his third year, was the loss of their long lived leader, dying of natural causes, and the arrival of Shimizu Yumi as head of the clan. These actions did not affect Kouhei directly, though like the rest of his village he sensed a great loss in their leader. As Yumi took charge she made full knowledge of the Shimizu Clan Kekkei Genkai public, a move which garnered mixed reactions.
When Kouhei turned five years old he was picked by Shimizu Yumi to attend the Academy within Kirigakure, something his parents rebelled against. Kouhei himself had just begun training in the use of his Kekkei Genkai and his family wanted him to follow the more peaceful side of healing over the new ways Yumi had began to teach. In the end though the decision fell upon Kouhei and he happily accepted the request of his clan leader. Kouhei himself was not interested in the ways of healing which his parents followed, he was far more interested in the new teachings of Yumi and followed her path more than his parents, to their dismay. So when he entered the Academy he was ready to learn, he was not ready to be met with such disdain though.
Kouhei's Academy years were filled with triumph and failure. His academic studies were fine, slightly above normal, and his understandings of ninjutsu and genjutsu were also normal. It is within the scope of his Kekkei Genkai that he found some trouble. He learned the most basic of uses, that of self regeneration, and from there began to experiment in the more visible uses of his clan's abilities. Using his blood offensively left him somewhat weak, it took him years to learn to focus his Kekkei Genkai so his blood would reproduce quickly. Because of this early set back his physical attributes were stunted slightly. He lacked the overall will to perform Taijutsu at an equal level of his peers, though his Ninjutsu and Genjutsu soared. As time went on though he slowly began to get better and strengthen his body, though it will take some time for him to surpass this flawed beginnings.
While his overall training was going fine, his personal development was marred some due to the fact his clan was not wholly trusted by the villagers. Normally Kouhei would end up socializing with just the other kids from his clan at the Academy. Very few others would associate with members of the Shimizu clan and in fact many children would tease and bully him. Many days Kouhei would come home with bruises and cuts which his parents would promptly heal. His parents attempted numerous times to pull Kouhei from the Academy but the young man refused. He wanted to prove himself, not only to others in his clan but to those in the village. However as time went on and the treatment continued, and at times worsened, Kouhei's personality started to darken. He began to strike back at the children that mistreated him, going so far as to seriously hurt a few of them. At home he received numerous reprimands due to his actions but in the end, to him at least, his actions were justified.
At the end of his time in the Academy quite a few of his fellow students avoided him, not due to his clan but due to his over all attitude and behavior. No one truly got to know him, instead he was mentioned in whispers, and many thought of him as sadistic when in fact there is a part of Kouhei that can be very caring. During his Academy test, held within the Blood Marsh, this side of him manifested but no one was around to see it. It was his third day within the Blood Marsh, something which did not bother him as he was used to being alone and surviving is what his clan did. He came upon a blood trail and began to follow it. He knew the blood was not completely human, if there is one thing the young student knew was human blood, but he was curious. He came upon a hurt female dog which due to its wounds had given birth early. He quickly bandaged up the poor animal and began the process of cleaning and caring for the litter. After a few days the dog, and its pups, were healthy and he went about with his business.
Upon completion of his trial Kouhei had officially graduated from the Academy, no one aware of him using what little provisions he had to help a wounded animal. At home his parents were happy to have him back, they wanted to teach him what they knew but Kouhei would not have it. He was not their innocent young boy anymore, the Academy had changed him in so many ways. Now a Genin he is looking to further his understanding and training, to find others with his like ideals and to make the other villagers respect him for who and what he is. His clan's shame, the secrets they kept, always hanging over him in his village and also his own set backs physically which he is attempting to rectify will be his current challenges. Ready to follow his leader Kouhei was shocked when news came back that Shimizu Yumi had been killed during a mission. The news quickly went through his clan, many of the older members seemed happy about it. A meeting was held and the new leader was announced, that person being Shimizu Eiichi who was the great grandson of Shimizu Harou. Eiichi, as the first act of his leadership, approached the Mizukage and explained the truth of the Shimizu clan, sharing the knowledge of the clan's Blood Release. Once again the clan's secrets were made public and once again distrust grew within the village. Now looked down even more Kouhei tries to make a life for himself in this village, and in this world. What type of life that turns out to be he simply does not know.
