Background

+ Mixed Heritage

Born to the daughter of a traveling merchant and a Shirayuki warrior, so to speak, Kanrai was brought into a spoiled life. From an early age, she was taught conventional information such as reading, history, and even some arts of the merchant trade, just in case. By the time she was five, her father started training her in the shinobi arts as well. It seemed she was a fairly quick student — both on her feet and mentally —, but with all that she was being taught, it was somewhat slow going. It didn't help that she struggled so much with the concept of Genjutsu, either. She, personally, preferred the hands-on training over the book work, but didn't argue with her parents over it. By the time she was almost thirteen, she had learned all the necessary abilities for her father to consider her 'ready' for actual combat. She became a part of the war, if not a very large part. At this point, she became a little rebellious and began to sneak away from her home or encampment fairly frequently. On one such occasion, she tripped over a boy about her age. Rather than attacking her, which she honestly expected, he helped her sneak away. This surprised and confused her, but after some time, it became clear to her that he didn't want to hurt her. They spent some time talking before her attendants finally found her. The boy had already fled and Kanrai never so much as mentioned his existence, much less his name to anyone, though she did try to guess how the latter was written once in a while.

Years passed and she spent less time studying and more time training, especially once the war had faded and Kirigakure was formed. It became clear to her now that she could train for hours and barely realize the time pass; sometimes she'd only stop when she found she could barely see three feet in front of her and wonder how it had gotten so dark before she tired. There was other battles to be fought and she did what she could to be a part of them. Her father, who did happen to survive, would have preferred her to stay home and learn many of these times, but he generally supported her decisions. Kanrai, who had become a Genin when a more formal tier was set in place, worked toward becoming a Chuunin. However, she didn't want to displease her parents so she still studied at home as well, causing the process to take a fair amount of time. Seventeen was the age at which she was finally able to reach the rank she was reaching for. Rather, late in her seventeenth year. Now, the following year, she is content with her progress and wishes to help other young ones in reaching their goals.

Appearance

Almost sickly pale, this woman appears to be rather serious. She stands around five and a half feet tall and has a small but firm build. Her black hair sits just below her chin and is slightly longer on one side — namely her right-hand side. It is messily fashioned, but is otherwise clearly taken care of. The eyes that take in her surroundings are… different. Overall a rather bright, sky blue, they also hold a pink outline around her pupils.

Her attire changes from day to day, but she is more often than not adorned in a kimono with slits up either side to allow her to move more easily. She seems to prefer darker colors, rarely seen in anything but black, blue, or purple.
