A girl that had been stripped from the memories of those who knew her. A thing such as this is as good as having never existed at all. And so, Tomoyo lives her life as the girl who had never existed.

Some twenty years prior to the founding of the Shinobi Villages

A story that is lost in the memories of the child that never existed. A child that spent its first nine months in its true home, with its true parents. It was a time when all of the clans had still been seperate from one another. A time of constant conflict, death and also life.

It began with a couple of the Hyuuga Clan, a husband and wife by the name of Hachibei and Kotoko. Being one of the more prominent clans at the time, one that beheld their own special bloodline limits of the Byakugan and the skills granted by this doujutsu. It allowed them to hold a more fixed location to operate out of, a camp that was a borderline village to those who had lived there. A time of relative safety, a grace period that seemed perfectly timed for the young couple. Because it was during this time that Kotoko came with child. They weren't the only family to take advantage of this either, as other families were trying to start as well. To some it was the seeds of love taking root, but to others it was a means to replenish the lives lost during all the conflict that was going on.

Unknown to the couple at the time, or to the village for that matter… but a pair of eyes had been laid unto the village with much interest. An entity that would continue to keep watch over the village for months to come.

As time passed, and Kotoko began to grow heavy with child, to the point where it was almost that time… The expecting mother and father would resign themselves from participating in any missions until after their child was safely delivered. This of course, made it easier for the presence that loomed over the village to oversee the progress of a plan that had been over a year in the making.

It was then the eve of the event that both Hachibei and Kotoko had been waiting for. Kotoko had spent the better part of the day in labor while the husband did his best to comfort his wife during this time. The only other one to be with them at this time was one of the midwives of the clan to make sure the birth was completed safely. After hours of waiting, with night encroaching upon the village, the sound of an infant's cries echoed from within the home of the Hyuuga couple. And so, Hyuuga Tomoyo was born.

Everyone, exhausted from the day's events would eventually retire for the night to rest up and greet the following day as a new family. But what the parents didn't know was that their happy little family was soon going to be split apart, forever. During the late hours of the night, that watchfull presence had finally decided to make a move and infiltrate the village and the home of the sleeping parents. By morning, the child would be gone and any memories of the child would be gone from the minds of the parents… They would wake in the morning with the memories of having lost their child to illness after birth.

Several years after the 'Incident'...

After having been bereft from a home she never knew of and taken to a far off place to be raised in near isolation. The Hyuuga child known as Tomoyo had grown old enough now to be mobile by her own two legs and was even in the midst of mastering speech.

She had been taken to a hidden facility far from the reaches of the Hyuuga Clan, and any one else who might have had interest in such a child. A compound where only servants that lived to raise Tomoyo, and eventually train her in both mind and body resided. But before any of that happened, certain 'truths' had to be instilled into the young Hyuuga girl. Her father, who she had always called papa, or otto-san when she thought she was walking on thin ice, told her a story of how the two came to be parent and child.

Placing his huge hand atop her head, he would tell her a story of a time when he came across a young infant who had been left out in the wilds to be taken back into nature. She was deathly ill, and abandoned, crying hoarsly for someone to take care of her. It was then that Papa would rescue this child from her tragic fate and tend to her sickness until she was nursed back to health. Grateful for being blessed with such a caring soul to take her in, Tomoyo was moved to tears and clung to her papa with all her might. Unknown to her, that this story was just that.. a story.

Another year passed by, and Tomoyo was finally of age...

Having grown up in an isolated facility, Tomoyo was never truly alone. She had all the servants to keep her company. All the tutors that had schooled her in academics and now that she was old enough.. the instructors that would begin to train her in the arts of being a shinobi. To Tomoyo, it was just like attending her normal studies with her other tutors, but instead the lessons were about how to be able to become a living weapon through various arts. Taijutsu, Ninjutsu and Genjutsu…

Once she held a firm grasp of the basics and how to tap into her bodies own energies, Papa would start paying more and more visits to oversee her studies personally. Begining to give her special lessons in what he told her was an ability that nobody else in the facility could teach her. The art of the Gentle Fist Style. At first, the concept of the style confused the girl, attacking points of the body that she couldn't even see, let alone hit accurately. She wondered how anyone could ever master such a means of fighting, and if her Papa would hate her if she couldn't learn it.

This confusion would eventually clear up however as the tool she needed to begin mastery over the Gentle Fist was explained to her. How to tap the power of her unique eyes. How to awaken the limits that were place in her blood at birth, the Byakugan. The first time she used the doujutsu of her clan, the amount of difference it gave her in the way she saw things nearly overloaded her senses. But eventually she grew accustomed to the way things looked through her true eyes. She could see the things called tenketsu and the chakra that flowed through them… She could see things far away as if she were right in front of it, and even see through barriers like walls as if they weren't even there.

As time passed, and her skill with the Byakugan and her Gentle Fist became more and more useful and not just the motions of going over kata over and over… Tomoyo had asked her Papa why it was that she lived secluded from the rest of the world. To which he replied was to protect her from all the troubles of the world. War, violence, death.. hatred. All these things that he wanted to protect her from. Understanding of her father's concern, she would nod her head in understanding and ask if she'd ever get to leave. The only answer she got then was a simple pat on the head and to get back to her studies.

The answers Tomoyo's father had given her were true to a point, but there were also other reasons as to why she was kept far from the reach of prying eyes. Surely, those who were enemies of her father would like nothing more than to gain leverage. Or perhaps there were people who would like nothing more from Tomoyo than to take her eyes for their own.

Time passed as Tomoyo's studies grew more independant...

As like most things, with time would come improvement. And during this time, Tomoyo would spend perfecting the lessons that were bestowed upon her by both her father and the instructors that taught her things on a regular basis. But to the girl's dismay, this meant that Papa spent more and more time away from the facility that she called home to take care of his duties.

During the times when he did visit, were times of much excitement for Tomoyo. As it was usually those times when she'd get to learn something new from Papa and get to listen to stories of his travels. News of the outside world, of the good and evil of man.

Those times of father and daughter bonding also meant that Tomoyo could show just how much she had improved since the last time she had seen her Papa. Always giving it everything she had to try and earn recognition from Papa. Always trying to prove herself capable and to prove that one day she'd be useful. Afterall, he had given her a new chance at living life. She wasn't going to turn around and waste it by being dead weight.

This desire to forever be useful to her Papa, to always be something he would be proud of is something that would remain engraved into Tomoyo for countless years to come. If not for the rest of her life.

Tomoyo's childhood slips away into adulthood...

The time when Tomoyo would start contemplating life outside the facility seemed to be creeping up on her slowly, an ever building sense of excitement kept her days busy with her training. Steady progress and plenty of time now to try and polish off any of the rough edges of her abilities. When asked of her instructors of just what sort of ability she had, she was told that she could probably qualify as a Jounin in strength at this point.

Her ability with the Gentle Fist Style progressed along enough that with time, Tomoyo was starting to experiment with the combination of her elemental chakra with that of her Gentle Fist techniques. But they were still a ways off from being anywhere near ready to be used easily enough in a combat situation.

It seemed that her father also knew that the time when she would start growing anxious to see the outside world was coming close. And during one of his visits to check in on Tomoyo, he had sat her down and asked her if she thought she was ready to head on out into the world with Papa. Eagerly, Tomoyo would tell him that she was ready! That familiar, large hand would pat her on the head and he would tell her that once her training was complete, he would show her the world outside the walls of the facility. Tomoyo had much to look forward to! Or so she thought.

With the promise of joining Papa and his group, and the notion of being able to get out and see the world… this only added fuel to the flames of Tomoyo's ambition to finish what was left of her training so that she could start this new chapter in her life. One that was bound to be more exciting than living day after day in seclusion.

The day of liberation finally had come...!!

It was not but a little over a year later, just after Tomoyo's 19th birthday that she had finally been deemed as finished with her training by her instructors. A grand celebration was soon to follow, as all of the servants and instructors would congratulate the now very capable Tomoyo on the completion of her studies!

To Tomoyo's delight, even Papa was present during this time. Eagerly, she confronted her father about the promise he had made not so long ago to show her the world. Of course, he did not forget this promise and agreed that she would be leaving with him when he was to depart.

With the need of the facility that oversaw Tomoyo's rearing reaching its end, her father would thank everyone for a job well done and that their task was now complete. But little did anyone know that when the pair would take their leave of the facility, none of those poor souls would leave the facility alive. None would be able to tell the tale of what transpired in that place. But Tomoyo was never made aware of this purging of the staff, to wrapped up in the excitement of leaving!

And with the close of that grim scene, and that long chapter of Tomoyo's life that was spent apart from the outside… A new chapter began. One that will test all of the skills she had gained over those years.

It was time to finally meet Papa's associates, his comrades. The other members of the group that he called the Tao Shih.

Personality

For the most part, Tomoyo's personality is that of your average teenage girl. Though she's just on the borders of her teenage years and about to enter her young adult life. Due to the circumstances surrounding her raising, she's a fairly caring individual and gives everyone a fair chance in regards to her trust. She's trusting until she's given a reason not to.

Her view of the world is rather small, but she expects this view to change as she sees the world and experiences new and hopefully good things along the way.

Just like most people, she also has other 'faces' she wears in different situations or with different people. When it comes to her father, she's willing to go to any lengths to earn his approval. Even if it were to mean serious injury or even her death. So long as in the end, he was proud of her, she'd be happy. To a lesser extent, she also wishes to prove her worth to those she works with. For the time being, that would be with the comrades of her father. She hopes to get along with everyone, since that makes things easier than if everyone were at each others throats all the time.

But, just like most things in life. Tomoyo's personality is dynamic, and can and will change as the ebb and flow of time continues. Let alone the other facets of her personality that not even she is aware of.

+ Off The Clock Clothes!

Currently, Tomoyo's appearance looks rather unassuming as far as what someone would expect from a shinobi. In most cases she can be found wearing casual clothing on the road. This usually means civilian apparel. The most common thing she wears is something akin to a school student. Wearing a blazer and a skirt. Due to her expected trials and tribulations, she sports a pair of black shorts beneath the skirt to prevent free sneak peeks at her underpants. During chillier times, she might wear a full body cloak getup to keep the heat in.

This individual's visibly healthy and long, going to her waist, hair is grey, despite the youth that can be read off her perfectly symetrical, flawless face. Below the simple, black hairband that keeps it in shape, it hangs freely. Above it, a parting has been made on the right, and the hair is allowed to hang loosely over her forehead, almost reaching her eyes. At first glance, these seem devoid of colour, but closer inspection reveals a faint hint of lavender.

The black, with red cloud markings, robe that encases the rest of her forms somehow stays behind her, allowing the rest of her apparel to be visible. One loop of a navy scarf lies loosely around her neck, carrying a small pin in the form of a ying and yang symbol on the lowest of its folds. Both slightly tattered ends of the scarf, hanging behind her, have a warm, yellow colour. Her upper body is snugly covered by a sleeveless basque of some durable material, in the same shade of yellow, with some darker elements: a line of black circles each of her arms where her sleeves might begin, interrupted by a small golden plaque. These pieces of metal are partialyl covered by the garment's low-cut white Chelsea collar. At the bottom of this collar, a zipper splits the garment in two, surrounded by a strip of black cloth. A last dark element are two arches of dark blue, starting at the back, going over the sides and ending in two ovals, inches from meeting eachother.

A layer of dense fishnet beneath this garment darkens the girl's naturally pale skin, whose light colour is clear on her bared shoulders and upper arms. Her lower, and part of her upper, arms are clad in dark blue evening gloves. Four golden diamond-shaped studs and one in the shape of a line are set into the fabric on her forearms. The hands are covered in a lighter blue, the two tints divided by a trim of yellow. About the girl's waist are oversized coat tails. Two small, yellow ones are merely a continuation of the basque itself beyond where the zipper ends. Against her hips are another set of longer flaps, wrapping all the way around and acting as a skirt around the waist. These reach down only a little below the waist, and the the girl sports a pair of black spandex shorts to keep herself covered. Running to the back of her knees, two thin, blue strips of fabric are attached to the back of the basque.

Below the shorts, her legs are covered by supple, mostly white boots. Only at the top, where a yellow trim and a triangle of black with yellow studs adorn the upper edge and its outer part, and at the bottom, where a black edge melts into the black sole, there is colour. Grey, screwtop-like studs have been set into the tops of the boots' sharp points.

One of the first things one may notice when looking at this individual is the wealth of naturally grey hair that extends as far down as the girl's waist. Not touched with age, but instead being its rightful color, the grey is darker. It looks well cared for and carries with it a glossy sheen and a springy bounce if caught in motion. For the most part, the majority of her hair hangs freely save for the front over her eyes. Parted at the right side of her head, but not all the way back, her hair is brushed to the right on the right so it isn't in her eyes. And at the left, it's brushed down at an angle where only the edges of her hair reach down just above her eyes. Holding the back of her hair behind her is a black hairband that has no ornamentation to it. Her face is perfectly symetrical and bears no flaws to it. The only strange thing about it however is that her eyes seem devoid of any color. Lacking pupils, her eyes seem to be completely white, or maybe the faintest of lavenders, but it'd be hard to tell without intent staring that would leave one open to discovery.

Normally the rest of her form is encased in a long, flowing black traveling robe that extends as far down as her ankles. It too also carries with it the same red cloud markings on it that can be found on another. Instead of the robe being sealed up, it is instead left wide open to reveal whatever gear and clothes she wears beneath the robe. The length of the robe is somehow tucked behind her as to not get in the way of the rest of her apparel while she moves.

With the concealing garment out of the way, one can now notice a slight bundle of cloth wrapped around the girl's neck. It appears to be part of a sort of scarf like garment. At the lower center of the fabric is a small pin that seems to be a ying and yang symbol. Reaching down behind her appear to be two ends of the garment around her neck. The color of it seems to be a dark blue, and the last foot or so of the ends are of a pale yellow with a jagged border between the blue and yellow. The ends of the tails are slightly tattered. Torn perhaps or maybe made that way.

Concealing her upper body is a sort of tight fitting jacket. Sleeveless and mostly colored in that same pale yellow as the ends of her scarf tails. Where the garment wraps around and over her shoulder and just beneath her underarm is a black strap with a single yellow buckle adorning the fronts. It's unsure if those buckles are actual buckles or just accessories. Extending down from beneath the cloth around her neck are a pair of white shirt collars, triangular in shape. The jacket is cut low into a v-shape where the trim along the zipper is black and reaches about an inch into the jacket's pale yellow coloring.

Beneath this jacket is also a layer of dense fishnet that conceals and darkens the color of her naturally white skin. Adorning the jacket in the form of design are a pair of symetrical tendrils that reach around from the pack, hugging just below the ribs to stop several inches away from the center of the front of the jacket. At the ends of the black tendrils are oval shaped buds. With the proper light catching the jacket, it also appears that the jacket is made out of something more sturdy than just cloth. Perhaps a sort of leather.

With shoulders that are bare to about mid bicep, where a single white armlet is snugly fitted around each arm, a pair of dark blue gloves begin. Adorning the forearm of each glove are two sets of diamond shaped studs that are the same color as the jacket with a bar like stud running around the forarm with the ends flared out into spear pointed shapes. The dark blues sleeves continue on down to the wrist where it ends with trim of that same familiar yellow. Where the dark blue ends, a slightly lighter shade of blue begins to cover the hands completely. The arms themselves however are slender and only slightly toned. Years of practiced motion imprinted into every last muscle fiber. The wrists go unadorned, save for the yellow trim of the gloves at the wrists. And her fingers are long and dextrous looking.

About the girl's waist are oversized coat tails, two protruding from the front where the base of the jacket's zipper seem to be. Acting as a border between jacket and flap is a white strip while the flaps reach down to about mid thigh and widen out slightly along the way. Against her hips are another set of flaps, except this one seems to be one long one that wraps all the way around. They almost act as a skirt around the waist, reaching down to about the same length as the frontal flaps. At the beginings of each side are two pointed edges before it smooths out the rest of the way until each side meets in the middle behind her. Seemingly siblings to the scarf around her neck, a pair of belt like protrusions extend from this skirt like garment and extend down to the back of her knees. To prevent moments of embarassment, the girl sports a pair of black spandex shorts to keep herself covered.

The footwear this girl wears seems to be unusual, at least to the general shinobi standards. Instead of wearing pants of some kind, she sports a pair of thigh high boots. For the most part they are white in color, the tops of the boots having a black and yellow trim to them and a black blade like patch at the outside of each leg with two yellow diamond studs on them. Running from thigh to ankle is a barely visible seam that ends about halfway along the top of the foot. The soles of the boots are black to contrast all the white and only have a slight heel to them to distinguish that they are feminine in nature. The toes of the boots are come together in a slight point and almost look like they could stab into someone. Decorating the tops of each boot is a single metal stud that looks like the top of a screw.

Dear diary.

Ehehe, it's been a while since I wrote in you. I think the last time was… back when we were doing alot of training back at the house. Always sharing with you my days accomplishments that Papa didn't get to see. Maybe one day I'll show you to him and he'll see! But, that's not what I'm writing about tonight.

Tonight I'm camping out with the others. I'm in my own tent since I don't know them all yet. And hopefully I don't wake up dead. Today was the worst day of my life I think. Papa took me to investigate some cave… Ankoku… Cave I think? I can't remember. We got there first I think since we had to wait for the others to arrive. I didn't mind though, since Papa kept me company.

Things were going fine until after that particular time when the others arrived and we finally went into the cave. Parts of it are a little fuzzy though. I remember Datura-san breaking off from the group for some reason.. but at the time, it felt perfectly fine for her to do it. After that, that's when the weird stuff started happening. For some reason I started thinking really bad things. Things I don't normally let bother me. But for some reason, at that time, they were the most important things to worry about. Like if the others would get along with me or not.. or if Papa thought I was a burden. I hope not.

Eventually we got to a point where Papa's flare went out.. and it was right before then that I felt like I wanted to die I felt so bad. It was the worst feeling in the world! That's when my worries turned from bothersome to world breaking. My world anyways.

It was right about then that Papa told me it was time to use 'that'. When I used it, I could see through the heavy darkness that turned out to be more than just normal darkness. Living in the cave was a horrible monster that was made out of chakra. And it was feeding on everyone's energy. For some reason it wasn't able to sink its claws into me though. Maybe because of 'that'. Either way, I got to protect everyone! Though they might not have seen it that way. I even got to save Papa.

It was so icky! But I'd fight it again if Papa needed me to. After I weakened it and had the help of Mune-san too. Papa took care of the rest after I had cut him free from the monster's grip. But after that… I was told that I was saturated with negative energy from the monster after I fought it. I saw so many horrible things… things I wish I could un-see. Things that people should never do to another person. Why are people so cruel? Are Papa's comrades like that too?… I wonder what Papa is really like now. But that doesn't matter. I'll be whatever Papa needs me to be. Even if it's a bad person.

Well… I guess that's it. I don't really want to think about today anymore. So don't be sad if I never read this entry again. :(

Tomoyo was trained from a young age. About the same age most children begin their own training in a shinobi village. Her training involved all the basics that would be needed of any shinobi. But the bulk of her studies were devoted to the mastery over her doujutsu, the Byakugan, and the fighting style that utilizes those unique eyes: the Gentle Fist.

Primarily, Tomoyo is a taijutsu user with enough ability to have ninjutsu as a support area. Her skill with genjutsu is limited but it is not her weakness.

Currently, Tomoyo is working on developing her own unique abilities that are associated with her Gentle Fist techniques. Ones that will hopefully combine that of the Gentle Fist and of her elemental chakra natures, Fire and Earth. Sadly, those are still being worked on and are far from ready of being combat ready.
