Background
Growing up as a member of the Uchiha clan during the establishment of peace in the Clan Wars was rigorous enough without the added pressure of the family name weighing you down. There was a high tension between his clan and the Senju, those they were making peace with, and times were confusing for a young kid. His era would be the first to grow up without having experienced the horrors of the Clan Wars first hand, and there was a lot of hope that this new era would abolish the hatred within Konoha and work together.
Showing a natural affinity with fire, common amongst his family, and an overall decency in Taijutsu and Genjutsu as well, Kenji grew these strengths through daily training on his own time, sometimes with family members, mastering as much of the basic knowledge as he had on jutsu, pushing himself further with each day and mastering the first step of Genjutsu, the Clone technique. His Taijutsu training consisted of ninja tools, showing no signs of strong fist and strength based combat. Starting with ninja wire and small projectiles like kunai and shuriken, it lead up to large tools like windmill shuriken and chakram. At the age of 5, Kenji began to have terrible nightmares, sometimes leaving him in a temporary state of paralysis through fear of these dreams becoming reality. The medics chalked it up to the rigorous training in illusion techniques and the stress he was putting on his body and mental health, but Kenji wasn't convinced. He began to focus more on his Taijutsu and Ninjutsu and the nightmares seemed to vanish.
As he grew older, he was able to again focus on basic Genjutsu training, harnessing his own horrid nightmares and apply them to his training in Genjutsu. He wanted more than anything to become a great ninja like the famous Uchiha in his clan, to be world renowned, and have enemies fear his name. Kenji was among the first in the Uchiha to go through the newly established Konohagakure Academy. Such an adjustment was rough, and in the coming weeks he had picked a few fights with other boys training to be ninja. Although he was going through the training with the pressure of his clan's reputation on his shoulders and his teacher's expectations of him higher than other students, he was determined to succeed. At ten years of age, graduation time came and he stood confident of his skills and abilities in front of his instructor, completing the final along with most of the others in his class, his dream of being a world class ninja now beginning to take form as he was now a full fledged Uchiha ninja. He received a Konohagakure forehead protector, tying it around his head with a determined look crossing his face. He was now a Genin, a ninja, albeit the lowest rank, but that didn't bother him. He was now able to show the world what he could do and master the power of his clan, the Uchiha, and nothing would get in his way.
Personality
Kenji is very logically minded and a very humble soul. Having grown up within the Uchiha clan, he has not experienced the modern luxuries of life that one might take for granted, as the clan was constantly at war, within itself and outsiders alike. Everything around him is analyzed and profiled, stemming from his father's job as a detective within the Uchiha Police Corps. He is respectful and kind and never over/underestimates anything, not even his own likeliness of success on missions.
Kenji is very loyal to his family and the village, always wanting to show others that he can be useful and strong in a pinch or whenever needed but letting them know his limits beforehand as to not disappoint. He is good at working with what he has around him and strategizing in a pinch to make the most of his limited, but growing, power.
Appearance
This young teen stands well above average height for a kid his age, somewhere around five feet and a half. Untamed black hair sits atop his Konoha forehead protector, spiked and brushed forwards, up, in no particular direction it seems. A seemingly distant and determined look resides within his deep, amber eyes, occasionally replaced with a glint of mischief. Those amber-colored eyes are set into a well defined face with a strong jaw and lightly tanned skin. His body, although still young and growing, has been hardened by vigorous training since he was a child.
Kenji wears a black long sleeved shirt with a brown large collar and trim, left open and sporting the traditional symbol of his clan, the 'paper fan' in red and white on the back and his shoulder. Underneath he wears a simple white shirt. His pants are a durable black cargo with various pockets and compartments for scrolls and other things he uses in combat and on missions. Looped to his belt and sitting on the back right side of his hip is his pouch of scrolls, shuriken, kunai, etc. He wears a weapons pouch taped to one leg of his black pants and black light weight training boots. His hands both don black fingerless gloves with metal plate guards on the back of the hands, used to deflect weaponry if needed. His right arm is wrapped up with tape for training purposes. He is also often seen wearing a light grey backpack when training.
