"Sorry bud. I tried to stay quiet as long as I could. I think your right to have interests elsewhere. This chick has no personality, talks way too damn much and to boot, she's flat as a board." - A comment made to Taiki after an Inuzuka princess dragged the Uchiha clan into a verbal blackmail attempt on Taiki, to force him to marry her.

This page is about a young man by the name of Uchiha Ryo. His most obvious feature is his shiny, bald head. This often leads people to believe that he is or should be a monk.
Background
Uchiha Ryo by most standards could be considered extremely lucky. Though one of the benefits of having a village system is that more shinobi survive, both of Ryo's parents fought in the war and survived. Compared to other shinobi who would have been raised by a single guardian or worse, orphaned, Ryo has benefited from the relationship with both his father and mother.
While neither parent was some high ranking jounin, his father did learn to use the Sharingan. His mother on the other hand became a mednin. After they settled down, Ryo's father went to work at the Academy as an Instructor. His mother works at the hospital. On the average night both parents are home before supper.
Most children at the age of six would have been off playing Ninja with other boys. Ryo would playing games with his father. The games would consist of the usual Uchiha Fire Style and even some exercises on chakra control. Even before entering the Academy, Ryo showed all of the potential of a normal Uchiha plus some. For his age, he not only excelled at hand signs but showed a lot of potential in ninjutsu. What separated him the most though at his age was his efficient use of chakra.
Roughly a week before his enrollment to the Academy, Ryo had been out with his father training. They had been practicing the fire style ninjutsu like usual. Though this time the boy managed to perform the Fire Bullet Barrage Jutsu. It had been his father's idea to teach him the jutsu instead of the basics he would work on at the Academy. While it was no Grand Fireball Jutsu, it would be more than the average student knew. His father believe if Ryo could learn that technique, he could take anything that the teachers at the Academy would throw at him.
There were negative effects due to the time spent at home with his folks though. The major one was that Ryo seemed to have problems forming bonds with other kids. When he would play a game, he did not always know the rules. When he would break one, the other children would mistake him for a cheater, when the boy really did not know any better. In some cases, Ryo seemed to prefer solitude to the company of others.
Ryo had missed out on the war between Konoha and Kirigakure. He was so eager to graduate so that he could fight like the rest of the Genin. When the time came though, the war had ended. Luckily enough he was selected for Team 7, also known as Team Hinotori. It was a team placed under the lead of Uchiha Hinotori. He'd be working alongside Uchiha Naru, whom was like an adopted big sister to him and one Aburame Etsu. It was one of very few Uchiha based teams.
Hinotori proved to be a decent leader. He taught the group things that they needed to know and their application of those concepts proved to work fairly well in the field. Naru and Ryo seemed to feed off of each other. While she proved to be the stronger, his growth in the group was no small feat. Soon the boy was able to stand toe to toe with her and trade blows. The activation of his Sharingan had helped a lot. This lead to the pact of strength. The two would find a secluded place and fight until they were both near death. It was a practice that was frowned upon so they did this in secret. Despite near coma like injuries, the pact had proven beneficial to both parties.
Nothing lasts forever though. Naru vanished on a vacation to somewhere near the neutral zone. During her time gone, Ryo trained with Atsuro to further his kenjutsu skills. His training was no where near as intense as it had been with Naru though it was still considered growth.
Though Naru would return to Konoha, nothing was truly the same. Team 7 had more or less broken apart and went their own ways. Ryo went to Sunagakure to support Naru in the Chuunin exams. She did not pass and returned home to Konoha. Things were obviously different between them. They began to fight over things like the clan hatred of the Senju. Then they fought over things like leadership.
Soon Etsu's spot on the team had been filled by a character named Shizukesa. Though Ryo and him never truly saw eye to eye he managed to work well within the team's natural chaos. Hinotori ended up being replaced by a long time friend named Aburame Kuroji. For a brief moment the team seemed to reform and function.
One night Naru and Ryo were placed on a team with Eremi and a special Chuunin. They were sent after a target. Almost immediately when they entered the compound, the special Chuunin was turned into dog meat by a trap. Eremi took over leadership to prevent the two Uchiha from fighting over the lead. In the end a Jounin level enemy engaged the unit. They were rescued by Kuroji. Unfortunately he did not make it out alive. Ryo was given Kuroji's Kusanagi blade by Kuroji's father.
The team was short lived after Kuroji's death. They went on one more mission as a team. Naru took the lead. The mission was against some pirates that had been attacking one of the Land of Fire's main military vessels. Almost immediately something seemed wrong. The crew did not look like pirates. They looked like military sailors.
Despite the reservations that they had, they managed to get Shizukesa deep in the ship. He blew a rather large hole in the vessel. They were able to destroy the vessel but there was a lot more confusion at the end than answers. Naru had sworn she heard the voice of her elder sister. The one that had died by Senju hands. The source of her hatred for a clan.
Naru and Ryo would unite a few more times after that. Mainly when they went to Heromu's Tower. They had been ambushed by a guy named Taikeru. His ability with a sword was superior to Ryo's. The two managed to hold him off. Then the two managed to get trapped inside a powerful genjutsu. It was only when Ryo unlocked his mastered Sharingan that he was able to break the genjutsu and pull Naru out of it. The ring they had been after had been stolen.
Once more the bandaged fragments of Team 7 set out to find Heromu's Ring. They were lead to a cave in Kumogakure. The guards to the base were like those on the ship. They were under a massive genjutsu. After dealing them, the group entered the cave where Taikeru once more appeared. Ryo moved to fight him much like before. Eremi moved to take on some other mercenaries while Naru managed to engage herself in a fight with a figure soon to be revealed as her older sister. Ryo and Taikeru managed to separate themselves from the others. As the cave began to crumble to two dueled on like true warriors. Eventually Taikeru retreated and Ryo somehow managed to escape from the tunnel.
He would wake up in the hospital to the sounds of Taiki sobbing. It was believed that Naru did not make it out of the cave alive. She came back three days later but never went to visit Ryo.
On the other hand Ryo had been assigned to the newly form Team 6 under Taiki's leadership. Taiki and Ryo went way back. He knew of Taiki's shaky relationship with Naru and all the rough patches the two had been through. Ryo also knew of the problems within the Inuzuka clan. He even once managed to leave an Inuzuka princess speechless. Once the team was formed, Taiki placed him as the second in command. This was no doubt due to his skills as a shinobi, despite the prior relationship. Forming the rest of the crew was Nara Usagi and Senju Ryuunosuke. Both Genin were still fairly wet behind the ears. Where Ryo had been fairly close to becoming a Chuunin, they were not so close.
Taiki proved to be a competent leader in their missions. The team had its up and downs but overall it worked well. Despite Taiki and Ryo having been friends for a while, this period of time allowed them to become even better friends. Ryo was never truly sure that Taiki had ever truly seen him as subordinate. Not unless his hand had been forced.
The second promotion exams took place in Kirigakure. This did not deter Team Six. They each passed the first round which allowed them to make it to the second round. In the survival round the three managed to get split up. Ryo ran across a snake fist user by the name of Chiaki. She stood little chance against him. Once he had taken her scroll he decided to move on.
A few days later he ran into a Shirayuki. As their fight progressed, Usagi appeared and wished to speak to Ryo. The Uchiha and the Shirayuki called a truce. It was then explained that two of the Senju clan had been slain during the exams. The first was Senju Isato. He managed to escape but died of his wounds. Afterwards an enraged Ryuu refused to back down from the person who had so badly wounded Isato.
With his fists clenched and the crimson anger clouding his vision, Ryo asked Usagi for the name of Ryuu's killer. The only name he was given was Risu. She was from Suna and a shinobi he had yet to meet. He then instructed Usagi to return home with Ryuu's body. He could not longer protect her. His vow had been broken. The least he could do was making Ryuu's killer pay.
Usagi disobeyed Ryo's order to leave the exam. Instead of Ryo facing Risu in the third round, he ended up face to face with Usagi. It did not matter. Ryo had entered a form of seclusion for the final few days of the second round. His eyes were dark as he had not slept. He hardly realized she had robbed him of the vengeance he sought to impose.
The fight lasted a lot longer than it ever should have. Ryo refused to slaughter the girl. He pleaded with her not to force his hand. They had both just lost someone of value. He could not and would not allow her to make it to the next round. Her life meant more to him at that moment than any words she could have spoken. Each time he attacked, he upped the power ever so slightly. It was obvious that he was fighting himself just as much as he was her. In the end Usagi finally gave up. She said some harsh words as she left. Finally an unfocused Ryo was able to gain some sort of solace in the fact it was only his life that was possibly at stake.
The next match of the final round was against Uchiha Berii. He knew her. She was a former teammate of Taiki and a student of Atsuro's. Ryo had just found out how Risu had escaped him by giving her scrolls to Usagi. His head was still not where it needed to be.
The match was fairly even for a long time. Berii's eyes proved more powerful than Ryo's. He grew frustrated with her need to simply use the eyes to anticipate his movements. It seemed like the only thing she was able to do and there was nothing he could do to prevent it. On the opposite side, she was not really able to hit him either. He had multiple defenses that were able to negate her attacks. In the end exhaustion and genjutsu happened to be his end. He fought until he could not longer keep his eyes open.
After his body hit the ground, he was transported to Taiki's hotel room which had been altered to an intensive care unit. Berii went on to lose the next match against Eremi. The results of the exams were that Eremi, Berii, Ryo and Usagi were all promoted to Chuunin.
The graduation to Chuunin was a bittersweet moment at best for Ryo. On one hand it was expected that the ten year old make Chuunin status on his first try. On the other hand someone he vowed to protect had died. Slowly Ryo was starting to care less and less about the expectations that people held for him.
There was still a rift on Team 6. Nara Usagi and himself had exchanged some harsh words. Nothing had ended favorably. There was no vengeance. There was no reconciliation. The only thing that remained was guilt and nightmares. For this reason Ryo began to wander around the different lands. He remained secluded from the rest of the world.
Nearly two years after the exams, Ryo returned to the village where he happened upon a burning Tea House. The leader within him took charge. He directed a group of Genin to help put out the fire and to rescue anyone still inside. It felt good. Not quite redemption, but something similar. It was inspiration. He then put in an application to form a team. The Wakai Doragon or young dragons. As the team was being put together, Ryo began to feel the darkness of doubt creep back into his thoughts.
The team never really went anywhere. They did not even go on their first mission due to a leave of absence by the team leader. Ryo had fallen back into a depression. He returned to seclusion from the rest of the world.
It has been eight long years since the exams. Once more Ryo has decided to attempt to return to his old life.
Personality
As a child Ryo held a great pride in being a shinobi and one of the Uchiha clan. It was a game of being praised for the accomplishments that he had completed and then rising to the challenge to meet the new expectations. This was something he was very good at. He was well one his way to becoming one of those legendary shinobi produced by the clan.
Unlike most Uchiha, Ryo cared little for the political views of the clan. He never held a grudge against the Senju, nor was he ever jealous of others in the clan. The boy was simply content to be part of both Konohagakure and the Uchiha clan. Then again by a lot of standards, Ryo could be considered a lucky child. He never had to face any of the hardships other shinobi youth have. He never lost a parent or a sibling. He has never really had to choose between a mission and a comrade's life.
In general Ryo was a very polite student. He showed great dedication to his work and the concept of protecting others. Despite hearing horror stories of war, the boy could not wait to be promoted to genin and join the fray. Even though some of the missions he had been on seemed small and insignificant, the boy simply seemed happy just to be part of the system.
It was not uncommon to find Ryo out socializing. He was able to hold conversations with much older people. He had a love for culture, especially that of sword culture.
This all seemed to change after the Chuunin exams. Ryo entered with his team. He was easily the second in command of the team behind the leader Taiki. This seemed to be a source of great pride for the boy. That is until the end of the survival round when one of his team failed to make it out alive. Then it turned into a nightmare. Although Ryuunosuke was of the Senju clan, his death weighed heavily on Ryo. Had he not left his team to fend for themselves, perhaps that Senju would have survived.
This was not the only event to change the demeanor of the young man. As a Chuunin he began to take less missions. In an attempt to change this, he even tried to create a team of his own but it fell through due to lack of leadership on his part. It seemed like there had been a string of failures one after the other.
Appearance
A young boy with a bald scalp. It is obviously shaved and not a natural occurrence. His entire head shows not a single blemish upon it. This includes his face and scalp. Both seem perfectly smooth and well taken care of for a boy. His eyes are of the deepest shade of green. Beyond the lack of the hair, the eyes seem to be the only difference between this boy and his clan. Of course the look of determination can still be spotted in them.
The build of this boy is definitely muscular. He does not have an overly large stature, but a normal one for boys his age. His posture is that of most Uchiha. It is obvious between the way that he walks and the smile on his face that he has a lot of pride. Beyond that, he seems to emit a level of calmness.
A white t-shirt covers the boy's upper body as an undergarment. Most of it is hidden by a black jacket bearing the Uchiha crest on the back of it. The end of the jacket extends down just path his waist. From the waist down he wears a simple pair of black pants. His feet are covered by a pair of matching shoes. There is not a single speck of dirt on this boy nor his clothing.
Before you is a young man who stands just short of six foot tall. His head is completely bald and shines like that of well polished floor. His eyes are a crimson red with three black tomoe in each eye. Under the eyes are dark bags, almost like that of a raccoon. There is no hair on his face to hide the well defined cheek bones. He seems rather skinny for his size.
There is no smile on the face of the young man. Infact there is not much of any expression to read, except maybe that of being tired. Even his walk lacks a certain pep. Most of his body is covered by a white robe with a black tie around the waist. There are two blades strapped sheaths upon his back. His feet are covered by tabi socks.
Relationships

---|---|---|
Aburame Etsu | Genin | A girl who likes bugs. She seems okay. She is the first Aburame I have ever met. I think the entire clan is a little creepy, but they are allies and if I ever have a bug problem, I am sure Etsu would be happy to help me solve it. |
Akimichi Tosai | Sensei (Taijutsu) | I spend most of my time wondering how something so big can move so fast. While he is an instructor of Taijutsu at the Academy, he at least knows some Earth Style Ninjutsu. I found that out when he placed my body inside a rock wall. He enjoys teaching in all aspects, not just Taijutsu or Ninjutsu. |
Inuzuka Atsuro | Jounin | The leader of Taiki's team. He's usually messing around and making jokes but I think he's going in the right direction. |
Inuzuka Taiki | Genin | He is the first I have met from the Inuzuka clan. Though I know little of him, he did tell me a story of the horrors of war. I admire him for telling me the truth instead of claiming that war is all glory to make himself look cooler. |
Nara Shintaro | Sensei (Ninjutsu) | Another Instructor at the Academy. I know less of him than Tosai, but he will teach you combat by showing you the error of your ways, not just telling you. Lesson number 1. Never fight a member of the Nara clan at close range. Lesson number 2. Shadows are mean and painful. |
Satonezu Takkaa | Friend | While he seems a little odd in that one of his hands is deformed, this guy is pretty cool. The way he wields his sword makes me interested in learning some kenju. He also does not seem to let his handicap prevent him from doing what everyone else does. If there is a way to get it done this guy will find it. I think if everyone thought like him, we would all go farther in life. |

Uchiha Berii | Genin | She is an odd one. Sometimes the way she looks and the lisp of her voice make her hard to take seriously. She is one of my clan though and odd is not always a bad thing. I hope one day to understand her better. |
Uchiha Hinotori | Chuunin | I met this guy at the ramen shop. He's different from most Uchiha. He seems more worried about protecting people than about living up to the name of our clan. He has also offered to instruct me if I ever need a hand. I may have to take him up on that offer. |
Uchiha Naru | Genin | Sometimes she seems almost like a bigger sister. She often times seems to be looking out for me and hopefully one day I will be able to look out for her. I know she is like many in the clan and carries a lot of pride. It showed when she avoided my questions about her being near bandaged from head to toe. |

Aburame Etsu | Chuunin | We have since grown apart. I am not sure I've done a mission with her since my early days as a Genin. | |
Akimichi Tosai | Sensei (Taijutsu) | I am not sure whatever happened to Tosai. He is probably still teaching. | |
Inuzuka Atsuro | Jounin | In general he's a good guy. Fairly strong with a sword. I think I like his ninken better than him though. Might be a general consensus. | |
Inuzuka Taiki | Jounin | Taiki has been there through thick and thin for me. He is a much better friend to me than I have ever been to him. I know he feels that I should not blame myself for Ryuunosuke's death. The blame is a cursed bond we both share. | |
Nara Shintaro | Sensei (Ninjutsu) | Another instructor that seemed to vanish. He possibly died while I was away. Who knows. | |
Satonezu Takkaa | Friend | I know Takkaa fought in the war when he was a Genin but I never saw him again after that. |

Uchiha Berii | Chuunin | I faced her in the final round of the Chuunin exams. The only thing she was able to do was use her Sharingan defense to beat me. She had no other defenses. It is upsetting to think someone like that was superior. |
Uchiha Hinotori | Jounin | Hinotori instructed me several times. He's a good guy but we do not see much of each other. I am pretty sure if I ever needed anything, I could go to him. |
Uchiha Naru | Jounin | We could not be separated for a long time. We trained together and became like family. For some reason we grew apart. She went her own way. Her way meant going on to become the power house of the clan while I stagnated. I once believed we'd always be friends but now it seems she has her own life and her own things to care about. I wonder if she ever thinks about me. |

Thoughts on Other Lands
Iwagakure
From Geography class, I imagine this place as a wasteland composed of rocks.
(This will be updated as Ryo gains more knowledge of the Country)
Kirigakure
The basic geography of this land is a group of Islands surrounded by water. Most have their own traditions.
According to some of the stories I have heard, these shinobi are willing to kill their own just to kill enemies. If thats true, these guys are a bunch of savages.
(This will be updated as Ryo gains more knowledge of the Country)
Konohagakure
Geography class taught us that we were the first of the hidden villages and that while our nation is not the largest, our village is. The weather remains warm and nearly perfect all the time here.
According to my father, other villages look to us and have adopted some of our ways. Such as the hidden village system.
According to my friends, the Hokage has denounced underhanded tactics such as killing our own shinobi just to kill enemy shinobi.
I believe our village is the strongest. Not just because it is my home, but because we have some very well known clans. The Uchiha, The Senju, The Hyuga are rumored to be very powerful. The Akimich, Nara and Inuzuka also seem to be heavy hitters. With clans like that, I wonder why Kirigakure still wants to declare war on us.
Kumogakure
In Geography class, we learned that this country was named for the constant thunderstorms. There is also a mountain range in the middle of the country.
(This will be updated as Ryo gains more knowledge of the Country)
Sunagakure
In Geography class, I learned that there is a lot of sand there… They were right. The place is filled with sand and sun. The first Chuunin Exams were held there. I found the entire experience miserable. The people there are nice, but the lands itself seems to be more of a punishment than a blessing.
Though I am not sure why anyone would want to build a village there, the shinobi of the land seem quite capable though they do not appear as numerous as our village. I also found the food is similar except for very spicy.

Living Journal
Tonight I graduated from the Academy. I was one of many. Everyone else that graduated seemed at least a year older or more. It was a simple test over the basics that I had learned in my time here. I learned a lot here. I had many teachers. One was even a student too.
Takkaa of the Satonezu clan. He's a lot older than me, but the way he wields a blade has always made me want to do so too. He taught me some of the basics of Kenjutsu. It was from him that I learned to tell the difference between techniques of power and speed. We spent many days training together. If it were not for his misformed hand, I think he would have graduated years ago. I hope one day I can help him the way he helped me. Lesson: Kenjutsu is awesome.
Sensei Tosai of the Akimichi clan. He taught basic taijutsu but helped me practice my basic ninjutsu. He explained out all the steps in detail. It was easier to learn from him then some book. He took time and cared. I have also never seen something so large move so fast. On a mock mission, he pulled me into a wall when I tried to be the hero and sacrificed myself for the group. It was really hard to move. Luckily he left my head out of the wall so I could breath. Lesson: Not all big things are slow.
Sensei Shintaro of the Nara clan. He was a ninjutsu instructor that I never saw much of. We did spar once. I only knew the clone jutsu and my fire bullet barrage jutsu, so it was a very limited spar. I tried to burn the tree tops so that he had a hard time making shadows. He just used his shadows to pull other branches closer. Needless to say I lost. Lesson: Never try close range taijutsu on a user of shadow jutsu.
Today I became an official member of Team Hinotori. Sensei had scouted me before I graduated. I am guessing it was because of Naru. Either way it was pretty much a done deal before I graduated. I am not sure if all Genin are selected to a team before graduation or if it is something they normally do after. The team is evenly matched. Two girls and two guys. I'm still the youngest.
Etsu of the Aburame clan was the last member selected for the team. She is very quiet and is good with documentation. She studies different types of bugs to figure out their uses. Her Kikaichu will be useful in situations where the Sharingan cannot be used. I am not sure, but I think she may have taken part in the war.
Sensei Hinotori of the Uchiha clan. The obvious leader of the group. Not a whole lot is known about him except that he has the Sharingan and does not hate the Senju clan. He also seems to have to leave a lot. I am glad to have a sensei from the same clan as me. This should make things a lot easier to learn since he knows what the family expects. This guy has served the village in at least two wars.
Naru of the Uchiha clan. The first member selected to the team. I know the most about her because she seems to always be dragging me along with her to train or talk. I know she excels at ninjutsu. She might even be good with genjutsu. Her taijutsu is lacking, but with as hard as she works, that will change. She activated her Sharingan during the final days of the second Kiri-Kono War.
So Team Hinotori was on a mission. We were in the neutral zone. I am not even sure what part of the neutral zone. For the life of me I hardly even remember why we were there. I think we were hunting down some bandits when we were ambushed by a water style shinobi. He turned the area into a massive river and placed me in a world of hurt. Etsu was able to use her Kikaichu to make a wall around herself. Naru used the replacement technique and I more or less got swept into the current. As I tried to get out of there, spikes made of water came up and stabbed me in the stomach. I was bleeding everywhere.
Then somehow this shinobi guy tried to kill me. It was like I was the weakest link. I remember thinking that soon it would be over. One more strike and I'd be meeting ancestors. Then my eyes changed and it was like his movements slowed down. I was able to dodge the strike. I think sensei stepped in, but things went dark. When I woke up, Naru was there. I was bandaged up. I was dead weight for the rest of the mission.
They say I'll be in the hospital for a few more days and that there will be some permanent scarring from where the spikes impaled me. But like others in the Uchiha clan, I stared Death in her eyes. She granted me a gift. The gift of the Sharingan.
I had been thinking about my training recently. I have learned a little more of my Firestyle Ninjutsu, but not enough. I am not able to perform the Great Fireball Jutsu. I know it is expected of me to know and pass the trial but it does not seem to be what is good for my team.
Both Etsu and Naru seem to be more ranged fighters. So that would mean as a fighter I should be more close range. Then I can protect both of them while they take out enemies. So I have shifted from ninjutsu to kenjutsu.
The first task for me was to find a suitable blade. I needed something practical for missions and something I could learn with. For this I needed someone who knew a lot about blades. Taiki recommended his sensei Atsuro. He said that his sensei had like ten blades on him usually. Of the few meetings with Atsuro that I have had, I know that he is a very rough and kind of obnoxious person. He over reacts to small details and likes to make fun of people. I knew getting him to select a blade that is right for me would not be easy.
So by chance today, I met with Atsuro at the weapon shop. He was looking at blades. He seemed upset that I distracted him from looking at them with my request. He tried to give me a shinai and told me not to poke my eye out. I refused to accept the wooden practice sword. Atsuro then decided he would test me. We went out to a field and used shinai to spar. I activated my Sharingan and showed him what Takkaa has shown me. In the end he was impressed. During the spar, he made two bets with me. One was if I could block his attack, he would pay ten percent of the cost of my new blade. The second was if I could dodge one of his strikes without him holding back, he would pay five more percent. I won both bets.
In the end he suggested I get a Shin Gunto. It is a single handed sword that would allow me to later pick up a dual blade style or move to a larger weapon. It is nothing fancy, but it was what I was looking for. Plus it was 15% off.
So I was walking along to the training area and I bumped into Atsuro and Taiki. It seems Taiki has some issues with his clan. One of his parents ninken has taken to guarding him. I do not know the full story, but I learned a bit about it.
Some girl showed up with her own ninken. I forget her name but she was upset with Taiki. I guess it was suppose to be a private meeting. Making a long story short, her grand father is on the Inuzuka Elder council and her family has taken action against Taiki for some incident that happened long ago. I guess even she had attacked him. To make matter worse, her family was now trying to give his incentive to force Taiki into an arranged marriage to her.
Then the girl made her first mistake. After threatening to banish Taiki if he disobeyed her, she brought my clan into it and how they work. She said something like, do not expect the Uchiha to accept Taiki, they are steeped in tradition and do not accept people who defies their elders. She also then brought up Naru. It was about that point that I stepped in. I kindly let her know that I was proud to be from a clan that hers would try to model themselves after. I then let Taiki know that his interests were well placed elsewhere. The girl talked way too much, had no personality and to boot was flat as a board. I felt bad for saying it, but Taiki is a good guy and this chick was off her rocker.
From there I found out more about her. She had pushed Taiki off a roof and her grand father beat him to a pulp. Things almost got physical, but she backed down. I feel bad for Taiki. Then again if she ever makes an attack on Naru, I might beat her to a pulp myself.
I have been sparring like crazy lately. Even though I am one of the most recent graduates of the academy I have been holding my own against the other genin. I have even sparred a few chuunin and not done so badly. Of course today I did something a little foolish.
I was out in my second home, the genin training grounds, when Hyuga Naoki and Senju Kizuken decided they wanted to spar. It became a two on one. I used my Sharingan against the Byakugan. The spar did not last long. I guess I over did it with Kizuken. He only lasted a few rounds before a kunai cut his cheek. Naoki lasted only slightly longer. I guess I beat fifty percent of their team. I have yet to meet their captain or the third genin.
Naoki has suggested that I take the chuunin exam, but I have refused. I am not ready yet. I think just because I know a few kenjutsu moves and have the Sharingan does not make me a leader. Maybe I'll take it next year after I have learned some more. I am hoping it gives me a leg up on the competition.
I was summoned for a last minute mission. Some boy went missing and they needed a search party to be sent out after him. There was no ninja involvement suspected. I guess it was assumed that he either got lost or nabbed by an animal. Luckily we had Taiki with us. His nose ended up finding the trail. Among the others on the mission, was the chuunin leader, Yaezaki, Kizuken, Hitoshi and Junko.
After following the trail for a bit we came upon a cave with a bear in it. It turns out that the kid was nabbed by the bear… yeah. It also turns out that half our group ended up getting sick. The other half got angry and killed the bear. I was with the latter, except I was not angry. I was sad but I could not let it show. As a shinobi I have things I must do and emotions make that difficult.
Taiki and Hitoshi went to cut the head off the bear. I volunteered my services with my blade. Taiki then moved over and wrapped the body. I guess it was returned to the parents. I have been told everyone deals with death differently. This case seemed to be just that.
So the team has been on hiatus for a while due to Naru going on vacation. I am not sure where she went or why, but everything more or less stopped due to it. Well, she has come back. Her hair is slightly longer and she looks like she has been training.
We sparred before she left and I won the spar. We sparred again now that she has returned and to my surprise, she won. I thought maybe my training while she was gone would set me ahead of her but she grew like the difference between night and day. She was able to use genjutsu before but now she is using entirely new techniques. She also learned how to use a sword on her vacation. Something just does not add up here.
She had some new genjutsu move involving the sword. It allowed her to flash in and strike. I was able to keep up, but I could not break the genjutsu. Eventually it tired me out completely. She also figured out how to make my body feel really heavy. What the hell did she do on vacation?
Now she wants to take the chuunin exam. I guess the team is back on hold until after the exams are over. I will still support her though. Hopefully she does well in the exams and is able to pass them. I just wonder if she will continue to pull away from me or if I will close up the distance between us.
The Chuunin exams have started now. Naru passed the first portion of the exam and is now in the second portion. Like most of the shinobi from those in the exams I made the trip to show support. There are quite a few from home that made it into the second portion. I wonder if this means Konoha will take the third exam by storm. Guess we will find out soon.
There is not a whole lot to do in this land. It is not like you can run outside the village and climb a tree. Here you can go out and climb a sand dune and then the next one and the following one. You do not have much choice. Inside the village, there is the bathhouse which has actual water and then a mud bath. There are a few different restaraunts. Most of which seem to specialize in hot food. Yaezaki almost flipped as my face turned colors. Pretty sure my Sharingan accidently activated. My body must have thought I was being attacked. Other than that I have spent most of my time in the training fields sparring people. It does come as a shock almost all of my spars have been against genin from home.
A week more and the survival portion of the exam will be over. Then I will at least be able to watch matches and see how I match up against others who made it in that I have sparred against. I hope not only for a good showing from Naru, but all those from home. The exams are a sign of strength from the youth of each nation. Though one set of exams may not hold the key to tomorrow's power, several sets of exams and ten years down the road may dictate which nation holds power. They also will determine which nations need to change how they train their genin.
So there I was, in the training fields tossing kunai at a dummy. I was not even focusing on the task at hand. It was more of a 'lazy training' to kill time. Then a face I had seen before showed up. It was Uchiha Issei. Last time I had seen him, it was at the celebration we had for the new year. He looked like he had just survived an explosion. The guy also seemed preoccupied with Naru… who did not seem to care for him.
Well, Issei noticed the emblem on my back and asked me about my firestyle. I am not even sure he had recognized me, but he decided to show me some new jutsu. These jutsu are a bit outside the normal firestyle box. The first one is called Embers on the Wind. Instead of blowing out fire, you blow out a light smoke filled with embers. Then you use your lung capacity to blow the embers outwards like wind. The jutsu is also pretty good for a group of people.
The next jutsu is called the Flame Bullet. One starts by creating oil in their mouth. They then shoot the oil towards the opponent and ignite it with a single flame bullet. This jutsu is another one that is good for an area of people. Unlike the Embers of the Wind, I have not picked this one up so quickly. It is the next jutsu I plan on working on.
Though there are a couple others on the list, my firestyle is lacking from where other Uchiha are. It feels like I am starting to fall behind. Naru and Berii both have a stronger great fireball than myself. They also have advanced their Sharingan to the second tomoe. Outside of that, I still need to learn the tree walking and water walking jutsu. This is going to be a busy year. I am playing catch up.
A few days after meeting Issei, he showed up with a mission. We were being dispatched from Sunagakure to Kusagakure. There was a rogue shinobi building forces. Not sure why Konoha could not send ANBU in but instead they sent us. We tracked the group down and took on their leader. He lead Issei away and tried to take me out. My spent almost all of my time dashing and dodging his water dragons. I did attack him but none of my attacks landed. They did cause him to waste chakra. Issei returned just in time to finish him off. Back to Sunagakure. It sure was nice to see green grass.
After a few days back in Suna, Naru had made the third round of the Exam. She lost in the first round to a shinobi from Suna. The only one left in the tournament is Hitoshi who made it past the first round. After Naru was cleared from the hospital, she joined Issei and myself on another mission. This time we were dispatched inside Suna. The mission was of course unofficial.
We were looking for a group of bandits known as the Scorpions. We came across a village that was being burned. We removed out forehead protectors and proceeded to rescue the village. We took one of the bandits for interrogation. He was from a rival group and happy to tell us where our targets were located. Unfortunately Naru slipped and mentioned we are from the Uchiha clan. Despite Naru's protests we killed him. She wanted to hit him on the head but we could not risk it. An international incident would look really bad.
Now that we found the compound of the Scorpions and took care of the single loose end, Naru launched an assault to get their attention. I snuck into the cavern to get our true target. These bandits had been kidnapping villagers from different locations. More than likely for a slave trade. I killed a few guards with my shin gunto, then proceeded down the cavern. The villagers decided to follow my directions and the mission was a success. We burned the compound and sent the bandits every which way.
I have been enjoying these missions. There is a certain amount of risk involved and a need to perform. It is not like you can walk up, introduce yourself and then activate your Sharingan and allow people to live. I am pondering if there is a future in ANBU for me. I know I have a long way to go, but things look promising. Majority of my missions are a success and I have not been caught acting abroad. I may have to work a bit more on my stealth ability.
I was sitting in a hospital bed when a face arrived that I never expected to see. It was my first time meeting the legendary shinobi. It was none other than Uchiha Fuyu, the head of our clan. She was not upset nor happy. She just seemed indifferent. She wanted to know why I was in the hospital…
The night before I remember waking up in a secluded area on the border line of the neutral zone. Naru was there nursing me back to health. We had talked a little bit about who we are and where we want to end up. I was in a near vegetative state. My body was hard to move. She begged me to close my eyes and rest, but I refused. I had been here before. We always sparred like this. I thought back about the spar earlier. It had to have been about twelve hours before.
I had selected the spot for our usual spar. Naru and myself took pride in beating each other half to death. Though her Sharingan was better than mine, I had worked her down and I was pretty sure I was winning. We were both fatigued and where most would have ended the spar, we continued on. We were looking for that final blow to decide who was the victor. Our first few spars I had won. The last two she had won. There was more than just pushing ourselves. This was for pride. This was to be the Alpha and I was in the lead despite being out gunned. Then she hit me with her genjutsu. I remember my body falling. She beat me. She was the Alpha for now. After some rest, I am guessing she carried me back to the hospital.
I explained to Fuyu that we could not push ourselves as far as we felt needed with Suna shinobi watching us. Though we are allies, we also did not feel we should give them a free show of our ability. Fuyu agreed with me. I was very relieved. For some reason her Sharingan seemed to be constantly activated. It was like she could not turn it off. She then expressed some concerns with me about the barrier that was being used. The talk shared some sensitive information.
What happened next… I am not even sure it really happened. It was like a dream. Her eyes changed. It was a different type of sharingan. She said she was hiding something in me. I would remember it, though if anyone came looking for it, they would not be able to find it. Could our eyes be that powerful? That intense? There was something about them. Something about her. I hope I get to work with her some more.
Most of us were heading back towards Konoha as the exams came to a close. I moved on a little ahead to travel with Atsuro and Taiki. I do not think Atsuro seemed too happy to see me. He keeps reminding me that I'm not part of his squad. It kind of makes me feel like the outcasted neighbor. Naru soon caught up and together it was almost like we formed an actual squad. It was then that everyone stopped. Shinobu walked off to recon the area.
After a few moments we heard a yelp of sorts. Atsuro gaves orders and we moved in to find a shinobi with Shinobu in a net. He ordered us to leave Taiki behind. That was not going to happen. Between the Inuzuka sense and our Sharingan, we found there were more shinobi than just the one. Soon we launched an attack. After a brief battle most of the enemy shinobi escaped. We all survived. The one who had taken Shinobu captive ended up popping a suicide pill. Needless to say we did not exactly get a lot of information out of him.
Not long after the ambush, we were detained by Sunagakure shinobi. They brought us back to their village where we met a familiar face. It was the council lady Itami. We were not the only ones there. They had done their best to detain every shinobi from Konohagakure. None of us were happy to have been brought back by force. The lot of us were unsure of exactly why we were brought back.
Itami started the session off by demanding to know what we knew of the kidnapping of Sabaku by Konohagakure. I was not the only one to get a little mouthy. I managed to hit a nerve though. I was threatened by the council lady after a few random comments that really do not matter. I responded by asking Naru to let Fuyu know that I was being held against my will. I then let the Sungakure council lady know that she was welcome to do her best. None of us knew anything about the kidnapping. Deep down I think Itami knew that. She decided not to take me up on my offer.
What she revealed next to us was a shock. The person known as Sabaku was really the Fire Daimyo's niece and had been kidnapped from Sunagakure during the exams. They had reports that Konohagakure shinobi were seen in the area when it happened. There was also some negative comment about Fuyu. I guess Itami did not like the concept of having the legendary Uchiha come to visit her. That or she felt she was already in enough trouble with the Fire Nation.
Now I know that the fire Daimyo's family has been being assassinated and that this neice of his was the last known heir. The idea of hiding her in an allied land is understandable too. But was it really in her best interest to be hidden in a shinobi village? Why not hide her in the leaf village or even the fire monestary? At least there she could have leaf protection all around her. At least we were released from Sunagakure and not actually imprisoned.
It was a sad for our genin today. Not a single one passed the first Chuunin Exams. Knowing how Naru would respond, I set out to find her. She was in our secret training spot… what was left of it. I am not saying that she responded badly to it. There were burn marks where trees had been and broken limbs that were once pretty bushes.
She was obviously feeling down, so I did what any good friend would. I made some sexist comments and bore the brunt of her rage. I am not sure if she knew what I was doing but she did not beat me as badly as she had in Suna. She did seem to enjoy the spar though. In the past we have been back and forth. Her genjutsu usually makes things problematic for me. My kenjutsu use to be a match for her Ninjutsu. Now it seems she is over taking me. I really, really need to start working harder.
Though Naru won the spar, I know she was counting on the promotion. There was not a whole lot I could say to her. I understand the pressure placed on her by the clan. Uchiha are suppose to be the best of everything. In our classes, we graduate number one. On the battlefield people expect our eyes to haunt their afterlife.
Personally this just places more pressure on me. I want to be certain I graduate first attempt. That means not only working on my skills but watching other leaders and their tactics. The clan already expects a lot out of me due to my early graduation and activation of my sharingan. I am glad I did not enter into the exams this year. I was right. I am not ready yet.
It was kind of a down day. Yesterday I had advanced my Sharingan in another spar with Naru. Most of the morning was spent thinking about what this meant for my skills. While a single tomoe allowed me to respond faster to actions, the second tomoe allowed me to copy a world of jutsu. Learning jutsu now could become as simply as seeing them performed by someone else. It almost seems like cheating on a test. Sometimes I wonder if these eyes are a gift or a curse. I remember Issei telling me the eyes are a tool, not who I am.
As I was making my way home, I found Naru. It was just before sunset. She was up on her roof. I joined her and we began to talk. The arguement started with a question. I had asked Naru what she would do if she was ordered by the Hokage to kill me. The point I was trying to make was missed. She answered back that she does not respect anyone of the Senju blood line. Had it been Fuyu she would have to seriously consider it, though she would rather capture than kill me.
I let her know that I had no ill will towards any clan in the village. The Uchiha entered into the agreement of forming the village. Now most of them walk about scorning the Senju. There could be no true peace between our clans so long as the animosity was there. Naru then got upset. She revealed that her brother had died in the clan wars. That she could not forgive them for. I felt bad for her but hatred for them would not solve the situation at hand.
I asked her if I had died in battle would she begrude them to death for me? It is something that I would never ask someone to do. In fact I'd rather that if someone was strong enough to kill me, my friends and family stay away from them. Not because I am better than anyone, but because if they can kill me they are dangerous. Vengeance is dangerous. Of course she replied that she would want them dead and thats just how it was. She refused to budge on it. I let it go this time. It just was no worth fighting about yet.
The mission we were sent on was in response to another mission where a Genin named Den had been captured. We were sent to collect and artifact that we were going to trade for our comrade back. The other unit had been pretty much trashed, except for Eremi. He was on this mission with myself and Naru. We also had a stand in named Bo. He was a chuunin briefed on the mission. We all were introduced and then set out on our way.
Things were going really well to start the mission. We had entered the base and were following Bo until he hit a pressure plate and triggered a trap of blades from the walls. He was sliced and diced before our very eyes. It was the first time I had actually seen someone killed like that. I had seen people die, but they were not on my team. His death had various effects on the rest of our team. Naru seemed to become furious. I was unsure if she could control her emotions or if she even wanted to. Eremi was upset but he seemed to do well to push it from his mind. I as well tried to push it to the back of my mind. We were now without leadership. Someone's life still counted on us to finish the mission.
I suggested we vote on a new leader. Eremi selected himself and Naru went along with it so long as we hurried up. I suggested both myself and Naru lead the way. We could spot traps better than he could. He agreed and Naru decided to amend it. I would lead and she would be right behind me. I tried talking to her but there was no words I could say that would seem to get through to her. The tension could be cut with a butter knife.
As we moved along we came upon a prison chamber. I cut the guards throat. Normally that drops people. This guy though… it only prevented him from screaming. I continued to cut him as he tried to assault me. Naru then roasted him with her firestyle. I think it is a love/hate relationship. We get on each other's nerves but we make a good killing machine. We also found an old man who had been taken prisoner. We freed him and then he led us to a treasure room. Though our eyes did not spot a trap, we moved carefully. Unfortunately a shinobi came around and smashed Naru. Eremi ran to the chest and found what we came to get.
The mystery shinobi then decided to close the door which seperated Naru from the group. Eremi decided to bring down the roof. As I was attacked by the mystery shinobi, Kuroji appeared between us. I was then ordered to escape with the old man. While I did not want to, I decided to follow orders. It was only later that I found out Kuroji did not make it out.
Unlike Bo, this one hurt a lot more. Kuroji had recently returned to the village and was a friend. He was someone I respected and looked up to. I had looked forward to many more missions with him.
It had been two days since Kuroji's death. Both Naru and myself were summoned to meet Hinotori. He had not been much of a captain to our unit, but he was still our captain. We were not sure where Etsu was. We imagine she might have been greiving for her fellow Aburame. Things slowly deteriorated during our meeting. It was not hard to tell how Naru and I felt towards each other or the tension from the last mission. Finally we began to argue. She was upset with me that I did not just let her go when upset. I was upset with her that she always had to be right.
As things continued I finally got up to leave. I wanted nothing to do with the team. I refuse to follow someone who lets anger and vengeance lead them. These are not things that help a shinobi. They are false positives. People think they help, but they only cause harm. Hinotori seemed to agree with me there. Despite scolding me and telling me I was not dismissed, he gave a longer lecture to Naru. To add to it, I made mention of her hatred for the Senju clan. It was commong amongst our clan, but Hinotori felt otherwise. This spawned an arguement between himself and Naru.
Now that the attention was off me, I watched and listened to them argue. Hinotori had a friend who was a Senju. The guy was like a brother to him. I guess this same guy called Naru a stray dog and made some comment about the rest of the Uchiha clan. In response, Hinotori said that Daisuke would not do that unless provoked. Hatred seemed to run deep on both sides. There was a high chance Naru picked the fight. Probably an even higher chance that Daisuke could have killed her and instead chose harsh words.
Still uneasy about everything, we were told that we would begin real training the next day. Yep, bright and early we were to be out sweating. It was time for Hinotori to start picking up the mantle of the captain. Both Naru and I held our tongues and went on our way.
Later in the day, I recieved an unexpected summon to the Aburame village. I was met by a man named Shen. He happened to be Kuroji's grandfather. I listened to the man talk. Some people think they are victims of the shinobi life. This man was most certainly a victim. He lost his children and now their children. His line came to an end with Kuroji. I truly felt for him. Not because of his line ending, but to suffer continual pain. On the bright side, there is little more that can be taken from him.
He lead me into Kuroji's home. There i saw a picture of a young Kuroji, Hinotori and Yuzuna. The three were on a team together. They seemed happy in the photo. I can only imagine what happened to change that. Shen took the photo and handed it to me. He instructed me to give it to Hinotori. He then gave me some letters. There was one for myself, one for Hinotori and one for Yuzuna. The latter two were to be given with the picture to Hinotori. He would be able to deliver them. I read mine there.
Kuroji had known there was a good chance of him dieing. He decided in his last hours to think about others and write out his thoughts to them. He enjoyed his short time spent with me and saw bright things in my future. The letter had many good things to say. I reminded him a lot of his brother. I did not ask the story behind his brother but he seemed to love him a lot before things changed between them. Shen then came out with a board game and a jar of pieces. Kuroji wanted to teach me the game. Unfortunately now I had to find someone else to teach me. The board was a tool. It was there to sharpen my mind. It was the first tool he would give me.
Then Shen left and returned with a blade. It was Kuroji's Kusanagi. He left him home instead of taking it on the mission with him. Shen made mention that Kuroji told him he owed me a blade for my collection. I am not skilled enough in my kenjutsu to wield such a weapon, but until I am, it will remain in a safe place. Then when I can protect it as an extension of myself, I will use it in a manner to make Kuroji proud.
I arrived at the training spot a bit earlier than expected. Hinotori was out practicing on the lake. He was using some phoenix style jutsu. After he approached me, I handed him the two letters and the picture. He seemed saddened but instead of focusing on that, he formed a clone and had it take the items to his home. He was very buisiness oriented. Though he is only seven years older than me, I am sure this is not the first friend of his to die. Maybe he hides it better than the rest of us.
Soon we started training. Naru had not arrived yet, but Hinotori point to a tree and told me to walk up it. I was to mark my height on the tree with a kunai. I had seen the jutsu before though I had not copied it. He explained that too much chakra caused me to break the bark on the tree. Not enough causes me to fall. On my first try I managed to walk up the base of the tree. Though my feet were shaky, I managed to steady out my steps and continue to walk. Sensei was satisfied. He then pointed to the water behind him.
I was not as successful on the water. I managed to walk out a bit, but fell through in the shallow end. The water was really cold. About this time Naru showed up. She was directed to the tree where she was to practice the jutsu I had just learned. She had little trouble walking up the tree. I was upset until I heard a thud. She had problems maintaining the jutsu. I then got up and began to walk across the water. It took a couple of tries, but I figured it out. Afterwards I was to alternate between the two. That way I could get use to doing both as if they were second nature. Both of us continued to practice until we were certain we could use both jutsu without fail.
I wonder what else Hinotori has to teach us. I know he spends a lot of time doing other things, but there is some knowledge there.
Naru, Shizukesa and myself were dispatched to find a ring of some genjutsu user. Yeah, I know… I was like a side kick being sent on a mission for this one. This user had set up some kind of ever lasting jutsu that cast the illusion of a tower around it. Shizukesa did not do well with the genjutsu. Soon he was curled up in a ball on the ground. Naru did fairly well until a swordsman showed up.
The swordsman was able to bind Naru with electricity. It looked really painful for her. Now with those two out of the way, I was left to fight the swordsman one on one. He was actually beating me early on. Things looked pretty bleak but something happened. Something changed in me. My eyes developed a third tomoe. I was able to dispel the illusion of the genjutsu. We were fighting in some type of shack. His movements became easier to read. I was able to respond even quicker to his actions. Though the battle took its toll on me, I was able to defeat and kill the shinobi. At least I had thought so until he told me he was going to come get me. He also let us know that his organization got the ring. Those were the last words from dying clone's charred body.
I had finally surpassed my cousins. I mastered the Sharingan. Even Naru had not done that. While she still had better jutsu than me, my eyes were better. It was a small victory among many defeats. Hopefully this will allow me to catch up and surpass her on other fronts.
Another mission against the same group we had run into at the Genjutsu Tower. This time we were to breach their compound and destroy the ring. This time it was Taiki, Naru, Kizuken and myself. The entrance to the cave was booby trapped and we set them off to announce our presence. Once on the inside, we ran into a room filled with traps. Thats where the mystery swordsman came back.
I accompanied Naru down a tunnel before returning to my fight with the swordsman. The cave had begun to collapse from all of the traps being set off by the jutsu used by both sides. We threw everything we had at him. His stamina was inhuman. No matter how many times the guy was cut he seemed to keep going. Even when he ran out of chakra, he still has enough stamina to continue running through the cave. While the rest of the team made their evacuation, I chased him further into the tunnel. He managed to escape me. Rocks were falling everywhere. I barely managed to get out.
I had never met someone who could with stand such punishment. Then to know the guy is still out there. That is insane. I wonder just how the Hokage would fare against this swordsman. I also wonder when I will run into him again. This mission seemed to be a failure on our part.
The morning after I escaped from the tunnel, I woke up in the hospital back home in the village. I woke to the sound of Taiki sobbing. He was a total mess and flipping out over something. It took me a while to straighten out my perception. They must have drugged me to keep me asleep. Taiki looked at me and I saw the pain in his eyes. Two messengers came to tell us that Naru did not make it back from the mission. Though they had not found the body, they were pretty sure she was dead.
The news was devastating. The person I had pushed myself to surpass was potentially no more. A friend was declared dead. About the only hope was that there was no body found. It was not a great deal of hope but it was something. It would be a day or two before I was able to leave the hospital. I figured I'd not fight them. I wanted to get back to training as soon as possible.
I had decided to go hunting for the swordsman. Eventually I will take his life. It is just a matter of time before I learn the jutsu needed to obtain the goal. I will probably take Taiki with me when that happens. Simply cause it would make him feel better to avenge the girl he loved. Then again without a body we really are not certain that she could not have escaped. The problem is, that cave could take months to dig out.
So it seems Naru has returned to the village. She was gone for two or three days. Since her return she has not spoken to me or come to visit. I have been assigned to a new team. It seems team seven has been disbanded. I have been assigned to team six under Taiki. There is a female Nara and a male Senju assigned to the team as well. Both of them seem pretty green behind the ears despite being older than me.
Taiki has named me second in command for the unit. I understand due to his current situation that he may need some help. I know things have been rocky with Naru. I guess there was some altercation between them where she found someone else. Oh well. I think right now it would be best to focus on the team. Teaching them to become strong will help the village. Now if only we can keep Taiki's sanity in check, this should not be so bad.
I wonder how long I will be on this team. I know I am close to becoming a Chuunin. I am not sure if I will end up promoted like the others in the village or if I will have to go through the Chuunin Exams. Either way, will I remain with the team? Will they give me my own team? There are a lot of questions that I am not exactly sure on. I wonder where the next exams will be held. It would be nice to take them in Konoha. That is if war does not break out first.
