Background

Tessen was born to his family along with a twin. Something he often cared little about growing up, until his family started putting an emphasis on training and either boy's ability. This of course pitted the two boys against one another, each trying to gain power or fame to prove they are the better of the two and most worthy of the name Uchiha. His parents were pleased with this competitive streak, and often claimed it was tempers like fire and the will to never be extinguished that would lead the clan to greatness and praise flowed for the most part.
This was until the time came where one of the two awoke something hidden. Tessen managed to activate his Sharingan long before his brother ever did and was constantly praised for it and his brother gained ridicule. It wasn't long before a hatred grew between them and his brother coveted the eyes that made Tessen their favorite. He wanted to be the one praised and considered a true warrior against the Senju…not Tessen.
Late one night while everyone slept Tessen's brother approached him in full battle gear. He was ready to kill his brother and steal his eyes. Unfortunately, Tessen awoke to see his brother before him ready to strike and was slow to move. This resulted in a deep gash across his chest that would never properly heal and leave a scar to this day. During the resulting battle others were awoken within the camp and came to see what was going on. Not wanting his brother to lose his life over a moment of weakness Tessen lied. He claimed that a Senju assassin had invaded the camp as was about to kill him when his brother showed up to check on him. A battle resulted and that is where both achieved their wounds, and when the noises of others approaching reached them they lost focus so the Senju scum seized the opportunity and escaped.
While the clan believed their story Tessen knew the truth and it hurt him and began to draw a wedge between him and his clan as the battles drew on. How could a comrade, a brother, covet power enough to attempt and kill him to gain it?
When the arguments over joining the Senju to end the fighting began to rage Tessen sat in the background and thought on the value of peace as opposed to the possibility of subjugation. Madara's words of anger and pride moved him, but he was also tired of the senseless battles that their clan had. Being a mercenary for coin and fighting battles that they had no personal stake in. Peace and pride were warring every day. Fights and riots breaking out among clansman with differing views, and even deaths over it. More idiotic fighting for no true reason aside personal gains and no belief aside from coins making the world go round.
While this was a truth that he accepted, it was one that left a bitter taste in his mouth. Then the news that the Uchiha would join the Senju came. A part of him felt glad and another uneasy. He could not trust people who were yesterday his enemy to today keep him alive. No matter the rank he received in the new order. He didn't care about being a high ranking ninja in their world. A jounin was nothing but a high end assassin to guide youths to become efficient instead of a liability.
Then came the time where a leader of this union must be chosen. His friend and brother in arms Madara, or some Senju he cared not enough to learn his name.
This was a rare thing where he arrived to watch the heated battle and as soon as its results were obvious a heavy sigh fell him and his heart sank.
Not only was his clan now joined with their greatest rival, but were its servants. Madara defeated, and his lust for power so much like Tessen's brother, he could tell the men would destroy themselves.
Not wanting to die in a pointless battle for power for its own sake Tessen merely turned his back on the bloody and destructive scene to walk away.
He wandered wherever his feet could carry him. Trying to find somewhere to settle down. His name forsaken, his clan forgotten, and his bloodline ability untouched since that fateful day. No matter where he went he could see fights for no reason happening, and those who sought power doing whatever they could to gain it. It sickened him and left him enraged most days, but even that rage fell under the ocean of sorrow that flowed. His fire straining to stay alight and his will ready to break.
One day during his search he came atop a hill where he saw a battle below. Stopping to not get involved he watched to try and figure out what was going on. It seemed that a small band were under attack from what appeared to be a border patrol squad. The first blow was sent from the patrol men seemingly unprovoked. Tessen began to move in to intervene. In the time it took him to reach them the dispute was settled and the casualties laid out. He was not needed but still approached the group. Instantly, they turned towards him seemingly ready to attack. As he was about to attack in return a man with messy black hair stepped forward with a girl in toe protesting he put himself in danger. Tessen chuckled at the couple only to feel a cold air come from the man. Tessen asked why they fought and killed so mercilessly. The only reply he was given is that in order to protect them it was necessary…fighting was necessary to save what is valuable and those who attack to take it should be destroyed if they are too weak to accomplish their goals. It was something that made sense to Tessen, and the first in a long while. He asked to join them and to have them help him to protect what is precious to him, as long as he was strong enough to be of use to them. A new band of comrades, and possibly a new trust. After a brief test to determine his value, he was allowed to join them, and travel with them. He was now no longer an Uchiha, but a Takokujin.

He is laid back, with an aloof or uncaring nature depending on who you ask. He is calculating and analytical, very unlikely to take a needless risk. Though he is very understanding of doubt or uncertainty he does understand quick actions can make a deciding factor.

Appearance

He stands about six foot even wearing black baggy legged pants and leather boots. If asked they were for comfort on long trecks. His lower stomach is wrapped in bandages. An open black coat adorns his upper body with a patter of golden flames on the left shoulder. In plain sight between the bandages and edges of his coat is a long diagnal scar. Hands and forearms are covered in black and gold tenkou bound in red cord. A pendant dangled from his neck and holds some meaning to the man, but he will not speak of it, and the two katana in his belt tend to stop too many from getting pushy. His eyes are set deep and dark with light bags around them as if he hasn't slept in days. Short choppy black hair frames his otherwise stern and controlled face.
