A young Yamanaka, fresh from the Academy. He is soft spoken, polite and generally friendly and helpful. He was touted by his family as a prodigy of the Yamanaka clan, having displayed a high proficiency in their hiddenjutsu.

+ Background

Mugen was born to Yamanaka Akiko and Ryoichi during the clan wars. Both his parents were shinobi and the constant fighting claimed the life of his father when he was only 2. His mother was talented with genjutsu and ninjutsu and he joined other youngins for training once he reached the age he was able to.

It wasn't long after he started his training that the clan wars finally ended and his clan allied with the Senju. His family was among the first to move to the site where konogakure was to be built to aid in its construction. Mugen's earlier memories are of Konoha and for all intents and purposes to him it is his only home. His mother instilled a sense of duty to the village and, at her urging, joined the newly formed Ninja academy.

Before his enrollment his clan had high hopes for him, calling him a genuis with genjutsu and their hiddenjutsu of the mind-body-switch. This coupled with a good work ethic earned him high marks in the academy — Though he was more of a studier than a brawler and only managed average marks in Taijutsu. When not in class, he was your average little boy. He loved to play games and meet new people and if he had the chance, he'd help someone even if it was helping an old lady carry some baskets inside.

After graduating the academy, Mugen looked forward to being assigned to a team and helping the village. He knew his role, and continues to expand on his sensory and genjutsu abilities.

+ Personality

Soft spoken and polite Mugen is not a typical shinobi. He's a nice kid deep down and seeks to not take a life it is at all avoidable. The high expectations of his clan and family are a source of anxiety for him, as his self-confidence is not as high as it could be. He's far from a brawler or adept fighter, but he does know that his aptitude with his hidden-jutsu give him some value.

After graduating the Academy he began spending more time in the village and on low-ranked missions, hoping to make new friends and help the village that he grew up in.

Appearance

Obviously in his pre-teens, though barely, this kid is a little short of stature overall. He's lanky, and kind of short for a boy his age. His hair is blonde and spiked up messily several inches while the bangs drop down loosely to either side of his face to frame a set of almost solid-looking deep blue eyes.
He wears knee-length camouflage cargo shorts on his legs and a sleeveless brown shirt on his upper body. Tied around the middle of his left bicept is a Konoha forehead protector. On his waist is a simple belt with slots for scrolls, kunai, shuriken as well as a single larger pouch on the back for miscellaneous items.

+ Hokage's Summons

Shortly after graduation and only just after being assigned to a team with Senju Ren the young Yamanaka and his team, along with teams 7 and 10 were called to the Hokage's office. Once there, he got the shocking news that he was going to be taking part in a B-Ranked mission to retrieve a comrade who was thought dead.

This lent him mixed emotions ranging from ecstatic to scared silly by the size and scope of the mission.

+ Uchiha Ryo

After the summons from the Hokage Mugen need some time to think and train. He went to the lake, trying to improve his perception in general. When he didn't have much luck and was about to leave he ran into the young Uchiha Ryo.

The two boys talked and it was obvious to the young Yamanaka that the Uchiha was a whole different breed of person. Not just in talent, but also mentality. While not a bad thing, it definitely opened his eyes up a little more to the ways of the real Shinobi.

+ Early Preparations

Shortly after his encounter with Ryo, Mugen went back to his home and began gathering up things he may need on his trip and took to wandering Konoha. Near the main gate he ran in to Inuzuka Atsuro and his nin-dog Taizen. Being a big softy for dogs, Mugen gave the pup some much needed attention while he and Atsuro discussed the upcoming mission and got formally acquainted with one another.
