Yari Moe is the only survivor of Kirigakure's ill-fated Team 06. Rumors have circulated for some time about the circumstances of that unfortunate team's destruction. In truth, they were annihilated by a powerful swordsman from Kumogakure who they did not expect to meet in the process of a routine supply run. With her two fellow Genin decapitated almost instantly, and both herself and her Jounin Sensei horribly wounded, she took the decision to retreat, and used her healing ninjutsu to keep Mori Toshida alive long enough to report back at camp. For her service, and having proved the ability to keep a cool head under pressure, as well as her loyalty to Kirigakure, Moe was promoted to Chuunin. After she had recovered her chakra enough to walk again.

Public Background

Moe is an oddity. She was not born in the village, but was instead brought back along with a ninja team seven years ago. The exact circumstances are unknown, but she soon made herself unpopular as she spent a lot of time crying and little time focusing in the academy.

After six months or so, she began to actually concentrate on her lessons. She displayed a natural talent with the basic ninjutsu and taijutsu techniques needed to become a Genin, and it soon became obvious that she was destined to become a medical ninja. She was entered into that years graduating exam, and as expected, managed to kill the boy she was pitted against.

After that, she was attached to Team 06. Like most medical ninja, her success was rated by how little she took the spotlight. Her support to her team meant that through seven years together they never lost any time to injury or sickness. Until an ill-fated excursion in the Land of Lightning.

Most of Team 06 was killed, or died on return to the camp. Moe herself was hospitalized for a month whilst she recovered from some kind of awful Jutsu which had burned her left side severely. The details are sketchy, but since then she has recovered, and even been promoted. How she is going to react to active duty with the loss of her team is anybody's guess.

Moe was actually the daughter to two healers in a fishing village on the coast of Kirigakure. She was spotted by a passing team of Kirigakure ninja who needed one of their people healed. She was only twelve, but she was already able to do more than her parents with basic tools in order to stem the bleeding, and she did.

She was offered an ultimatum that night. She could come to Kirigakure quietly, or she could struggle, the ninja would kill her parents in front of her, and then she would be taken to Kirigakure anyway. She chose the route with less bloodshed.

She got over this traumatic experience quite quickly, and she took well to the life in Kirigakure. She was motivated largely by an earnest desire to help the land of her birth, and keeping ninja alive does that far better than keeping fishermen alive. Through her years as a genin, she was given (in secret, she does not know) many chances to flee the village and return to her family. The thought honestly never occurred to her.

Then she and her team were sent into the Kumogakure/Kirigakure war, and things turned rather more extreme. Suddenly, the enemies they were fighting were much more capable, and her skills were tested to the limit. This came to a peak on a routine supply gathering mission, which turned hideously wrong.

A strong Kumogakure ninja, believed to be on a par with the legendary Seven Swordsman, ambushed the team. He instantly killed her two Genin compatriots, and used a blast of lightning to try and fry the remaining two. Moe was on the periphery of the blast, and only caught it along her left side. Her Sensei was not so fortunate.

Thankfully, Moe was able to lift the body of her Sensei, and flee the area without the Kumogakure ninja pursuing. She almost killed herself focusing her energy back into her Sensei, and that bought the pair enough time to get back to camp, and for him to make a full report to his superiors before he expired. But the damage was just too extreme to be completely healed. Moe was convinced she had failed, and she made no secret of the fact that she believed she would be killed for this failure.

She was not killed. In fact, for her loyalty, and her cool head in a very tight situation, she was promoted. She has only recently learned this, as she only recently regained the ability to use her left side properly, but she's very happy to be alive.

Personality

Moe is a healer first and foremost, and she always will be. Although, like most Kirigakure ninja, she's not afraid of fighting and killing, she considers her primary role on the battlefield to be in support of other ninja.

Few would think it to look at her, but she's been hardened considerably by her experiences. Kidnapped, brainwashed, forced to kill and see people she love die anyway… Moe tends to consider the good of the many above the good of any one individual, even herself. But when she sets her mind to a particular course of action, she can be incredibly wilful about seeing it through to the end.

Moe has been surrounded by death for as long as she can remember, and she sees this existential force as her real enemy. So long as she does not have the power to hold it back, she is a failure as a ninja and as a human being. As nobody truly has the power to hold back death, she can be morose and depressed at times. But she never allows personal feelings to get in the way of the mission. She is cold, calculating, and very, very dedicated.

Appearance

Moe stands at just over five and a half feet tall. Quite tall for a girl, and every inch the Kirigakure Shinobi.

Her features are stern. Pale grey locks hang in a strange style. One half allowed free over her left shoulder, whilst the right is bound into a tight braid. A single white leaf is kept tucked in on the left side, to those who know such things, it is a common ingredient in anti-poison salves.

Her eyes are a steely grey, contrasting sharply with the pale white, almost ghostly appearance of her skin. Her lips are unpleasantly thin, almost nonexistent, as is her tiny, button nose. Dark slashes of black mark her brows, quite obviously painted on. But pride of place above that is her forehead protector.

Judging from her face and build, she's likely in her late teens or early twenties. She is wearing a Chuunin jacket over a thin black shirt and short set, but more obvious are the bandages around her neck, down across her left shoulder, and all the way down her left leg. Her right leg is bare, displaying more snow-white flesh and no sign of any mark at all.

She usually carries a satchel, laden with all manner of gear, and a belt around her waist has many more pockets, as well as those on the Chuunin jacket. Her feet are protected by plain wooden sandals, a traditional design from one of the coastal villages of the Land of Water.
