Life is a funny thing. Some are born at the bottom rung, some at the top. Yotsuki Kioshi was one lucky enough to be in the latter group. Twenty five years ago, he was born to the man who would become Clan Head of the Yotsuki. From the day he was born, he was destined to be baptized in the life of a shinobi. He started training at a very young age, especially focused in Lightning Release and Lightning Style Taijutsu as per clan tradition. As he grew older, he was seen as sort of a solemn child. He tended to stick to himself. Some kids tried to pick on him a bit because of that, but his training in Yotsuki jutsu would solve that rather quickly. Of course, he would get in a great deal of trouble if he hurt any of them too badly, as that was not good for diplomacy within the clan or outside.

As he grew older, Kioshi grew out of his shell a bit, yet it showed more that he truly found the other clans rather annoying. The big rivalry between the Reizei and the Saito may have strengthened some of their forces, but it was seen as a point that could definitely endanger them all if the two decided to clash at a point that was vital during a war. Of course, the fact that he had a rather…violent way of breaking up fights between the two that he saw probably didn't help things, but he was a boy just like them. His strength was quite phenomenal for his age, the boy seen as a genius of his clan, which garnered respect from some and sneers from others who were sure they could be better. Some saw him as arrogant, which he could be a bit because of his position. When others picked weapons, he chose to continue to use his fists along with his Lightning Release Jutsu, finding that breaking someone with one's bare hands was much more intimidating than slashing them with a sword.

With the passing years, Kioshi became quite well-known for his excellent progress as a young shinobi. There were grown men that wished they could touch his capabilities physically and in Lightning Release, especially those combined. This earned him the nickname 'Raiden' after the mythical god of thunder and lightning, which made him proud as he felt he was on the right track to one day being as good as a man known as being legendary in their clan, Yotsuki Jii, the man known as 'Raiga'. If there were any man besides his father that he idolized, it would have definitely him Raiga. The tales told of his battles were simply unbelievable sometimes, even for one of Kioshi's abilities. This gave him a mark, someone to aim to meet.

Once his time as a child had passed, which wasn't much in the time of the Clan Wars, Kioshi was sent on missions and into war just like anyone else. He did quite well in most battles, which made him all the more confident.

At the age of fourteen, Kioshi was placed in a platoon with many strong shinobi, one of the strongest of which was a boy a year older than him named Reizei Ogosoka, the son of the Reizei Clan Head. This pairing was quite interesting to him, something he expected to become quite an interesting rivalry. However, before this could see full fruition, they were sent on a rather… odd campaign. Unbeknownst to them, this was a suicide mission, something the Daimyo never expected them to come back from. Still, Kioshi gave it his all, and that is what became his downfall…

In the last battle he would fight in with this platoon, Kioshi was separated from the rest of the group, surrounded by men easily of Jounin level. He fought with all his might and managed to bring several of them down, but it was quite clear that he would lose either from being beaten or simply running out of energy. Just as the latter of those began to happen, blows began to rain down on him from all around. The last thing he saw before slipping into a coma was some of his fellow soldiers beating the enemy off of him. Way to leave his mark…

It has been ten years since that day. Kioshi has missed many things, from the forming of the villages to new wars and even peace and alliances. Most people gave up hope on him a long time ago, but the Medical Ninja of the village say they've finally begun to see some improvement in his condition. For the past year, the Medical Ninja have been trying an experiment regimen to help Kioshi's body recover. Along with electro-stimuli and full range-of-motion exercises, they would give him large doses of L-Dopa and amphetamines to force his body to wake up for a short while to do some rehabilitation. He was kept in a private area of the medical facility, studied every day for signs of improvement and kept from knowing how much time had passed so as to prevent any unnecessary shock. The results were sketchy at first, but he soon began to show improvement in muscle tone more naturally than simply from the electro-stimuli. With all these couples together plus efforts to cure the cause of his falling into the comatose state, it is said he could actually awaken on his own any day now and start to put his life back together.

Personality

Kioshi is a bit of an engima. He has the old school soldier mentality and doesn't really care much for the attitude or methods of the younger generation of shinobi. However, he is quite willing to help them as he can because he wants Kumogakure to be ready when war comes.

Despite being in a coma for ten years and having a bit of a hard time dealing with that mentally, he seems to try to take it all in stride and rarely shows any pain outwardly about it. His personality tends to be charismatic and upbeat, as well as quite confident, even arrogant at times.

Appearance

Standing at a proud six foot and four inches tall, this man stands a proud symbol of the Yotsuki Clan. His skin is a dark olive tone, face oval-shaped and slender. While his form is more lean than monstrously muscular like some of the members of his clan, he is definitely no slouch. Black hair pants in the center of his head, flowing all the way down to his waist. It seems to be fairly well upkept, though it doesn't seem he overly obsessed with it since the strands that hang over his shoulders tend to overlap or fall randomly. 

His torso is adorned in a chinese ceremonial Gi that the tails of stretch down to his calves. The first couple latches on it are left undone for comfort, revealing part of his chest. Under the tails of the gi, his legs are covered in a pair of black pants, fit for comfort and flexibility in battle, which are tucked down into a pair of black combat boots.

Odo	Friend	Odo is Kioshi's oldest friend and brother in arms. Though the guy looks ten years younger than he is and is probably the most socially awkward person he knows, Kioshi holds a lot of mutual respect toward Ogo, though some might question that as often as they insult each other in jest.
Ai	Acquaintance	Kioshi met Ai on a mission in which he and a team went to harvest crops from the farm she works at. Once he recovered, he was sent to do so on his own. She's a very nice girl, interesting to talk to, though a bit too young to be an interest for him.
Ei	Acquaintance	Ei is a bit of an oddball. Whatever interests Ogo has in her, he kind of hopes he eventually gets over because the girl seems to be a glutton for punishment in waiting for a guy that continutally disappears on her. Still, it's not his business, and he doubts he'll see her too often as things are now.
Iminari	Nurse	The bane of Kioshi's existence… Not really, but she does try her best to keep him much laxer in his training than he is since she worries he'll overdo it and hurt himself. She's persistent and good at what she does, so he appreciates her efforts, even if he does resist them.
Eri	Ally	This girl is a bit of an oddball. She's perhaps the most flirtatious girl Kioshi's ever met, yet she claims to be completely committed to her boyfriend. Maybe for their sake she is, but it does seem a little unlikely, not that Kioshi really cares since it's none of his business.

Raiga	Role Model	Ever since he was young, Kioshi has admired Raiga. He views him as the model of what every Yotsuki should aspire to be and has strived to meet and surpass this man to prove himself as a worthy shinobi of the clan.
Kanbei	Ally	Kioshi doesn't know a lot about this guy, other than that he's both a shinobi and a blacksmith. Presumably he knws a great deal about blades, which should prove beneficial to the village in many facets.

Journal Entries

+Entry 1 - Waking Up

I woke up today in a hospital room. Things seem so odd. I feel weak, like I haven't eaten or really moved in a long time. The doctors tell me I've been unsconscious for a little while, but they're doing what they can to get me back to normal. They're injecting me with some kind of experimental drug that wakes me up for a while, hoping that rehabilitation will help stimulate my body to be able to function on its own normally. I'm not really sure how long I've been here, but I hope I don't end up in here too long.

+Entry 2 - The Great Escape

My doctors planned to gradually let me realize that ten years had passed since I'd been put in a coma, I imagine, but an old comrade preferred a much more direct method. Odo flat out told me that I'd been out for ten years, which caused a lot of grief among the medical staff, but at least I know the truth now. The looks on their faces when Odo actually started to wheel me out of the hospital were priceless, especially when I shot a lightning needle through one of the med-nins' clipboard.

It was good to finally get out of that place, even better to know that the captain is still alive and well, though things are a bit odd. He looks ten years younger than he is, and I've been asleep for ten years. I guess it will all work itself out in time.

+Entry 3 - Out In The World

It's been a few weeks, but the doctors are finally letting me… Well, not that they have much of a choice, but I'm getting to wheel myself around the village to try to get familiar with the place. It seems most of my clan moved here at the time of the Founding. The fact that all these clans that used to be at each other's throats on a dime are now getting along and working together is both a shock and a joy. It's a shame I've missed at least seven years of it, but I'm glad to be a part of this village.

Of course, there's one person that would try to take my freedom, the bane of my existence, Nurse Iminari… Okay, she's not that bad, but she is fun to pick on and watch her try to chase me down. I'm sure her presence and attempts at restraining me will provide some entertainment while I'm recovering.

+Entry 4 - Out On The Farm

For my first mission in a long time, I went out on a farm with a team to help gather in a harvest and bring it to Kumogakure. Of course, I wasn't much help in my condition, but I at least held the basket while the girl we were working for picked. She's very pretty, quite nice, though a bit on the young side. The oddest part of the day was that Odo saw quite a few similarities between her and his old flame that died on the day that wound me up in a coma for ten years.

I ended up having to have a conversation with Odo about this later, of course, to be sure he wasn't going to expect Ai to take 'her' place. He seemed to understand but still be a bit down. I finally found out the reason and gave him a bit of a kick in the pants that made him go chase a girl that he's fallen for recently down. Things didn't quite turn out the way I'd hoped they would for him, but he at least did try, and that's a major step.

+Entry 5 - Training Day

So I decided it was time to get a bit of extreme with my training today. I've been doing regular rehabilitation long enough that I should be able to get myself in shape quicker this way, as long as I don't overdo it . Of course, things got rather amusing when Eri and Iminari tried to make me stop and get back in the wheelchair. I don't think they expected me to have enough strength back to pick them up and use them in place of my dumbbells while I walked.

+Entry 6 - Back on the Farm

I've finally recovered enough to be able to do things without crutches or a wheelchair, and my first mission to test that was to go back to Ai's farm and pick the harvest without the help of a team. Ai was quite shocked at my much quicker progress since I've recovered enough to use my jutsu abilities to considerably speed up my movements. It took me very little time to have the whole crop on the wagon and ready to go. She and I got to talk for a while due to this, which was quite enjoyable without certain elements of awkwardness that were there before. Still, she looks a bit too young for me to be with her, despite the fact that I'm not fully adjusted mentally to the fact that ten years have passed, so I'll just leave that be.

+Entry 7 - Stepping Out On A Limb

Since I've been traveling on some solo missions lately, I've caught rumors of something growing that could be a threat to the villages. I'm not sure yet who all is a part of it, but this could be dangerous if it's allowed to go too far. I don't have enough proof yet to report it to anyone, so I'm going to use my days off to research it on my own. Maybe I won't find anything, which is the better hope that this is just a rumor, or maybe I will find something sinister that's brewing behind the curtain… Either way, I have to find out if this threat is real and what exactly it is if so.
