Kaneko ends up in a bit of trouble with her cousins (again), and Mitsue and Nendo rush to save her. Interesting
"Murasame Strife - Drowned Flames, Dark Cloak Rising"
Iwagakure - Stone Fields
One would think that so soon after an attack was launched on Iwagakure (well.. it was more like a warning shot at the doors of a house…) that there would be less infighting. But no, that is apparently not the case. A few of the the Murasame had heard that Kaneko was to graduate soon! She wasn't a part of the Academy for very long, only about three months. And yet… And yet she was graduating! For a few, this was a very happy day (particularly her parents). The ones that weren't so thrilled? Well, Mitsue and Nendo knew them… Murasame Sentora and Murasame Zora. The two were rather livid that the girl that they had picked on was getting a promotion (in a sense…)
So on this very nice pleasant day, the two decided to play a little game. "Yes, yes, Kaneko-chan. Think of this as our way of apologizing for beating you up that one time," Zora's voice said as he made his way towards the training area. "We just want to make sure you're ready for the graduation exam." Then Sentora speaks up. "Yeah, it'll be fun! It's really simple what you gotta do!" The pair had… coerced the young Murasame into coming with them via sharp pointy kunai, sure, but those are hidden away while in public.
Kaneko scowls a bit. "Tch… Uh-huh. The day I believe you two wanna help me is the day I'm certain to find a knife in my back. By you two." The girl stares at the pair with cold grey eyes, but they just laugh it off and continue leading her to the training fields. The trio would stop at the river, then. "This's good, right? Okay, Kaneko-chan. Here's the rules of the game. You have to beat us both in a one-on-one fight. No breaks in between fighting us, but it'll be one-on-one." They wouldn't forgive her for calling them cowards the one time… "You can start with Sentora first," Zora instructs, gesturing to his younger brother. He steps up to the plate eagerly, grinning widely. He /really/ wants to punch the girl's face in… Yep. That grin is pretty evil and Zori-like, actually (for those of us who know Zori…).
"What? This isn't even fa-!" Kaneko's voice cuts off as she's suddenly kicked, her legs knocked off to the side, and she comes crashing down. Did this guy get faster since the last time she fought him? It certainly felt like he's a bit stronger… Kaneko coughs a few times to try and get the air back into her lungs, only for the girl to be kicked swiftly again.
This being a public training grounds, someone is /bound/ to see this 'little' fight going on, right? Sure, it was near the back of the entire area and a bit blocked by nearby boulders/trees, but…
Nendo was on the training grounds with Mitsue not too far off so that if he seemed to make too much of a mistake and threatened blowing up, that Mitsue could give him a mental nudge to back off or stop entirely. Nendo was enjoying his new found freedom and using the quiet of a studentless training ground for practice the use of his bloodline. The Toujitakumi was practicing with two new things, both involving the chance of self destruction but both were necessary as well. He'd seen Juudai shift and display her unique chakra visibly through a shroud of lightning and small explosions surrounding her form. Grasping how to make his chakra do the same however, was not so simple and the Toujitakumi would try focusing his breathing only for the cut off shout of a familiar girl to break the genin's focus. "Mitsue, let's go see what Kaneko's shouting about. I think I heard some other voices as well." The genin would explain as he relaxed his clenched fists and started off toward the area that he'd heard Kaneko's voice come from. At the sight of just what the others were doing in the training ground however, a low growl would begin rumbling in Nendo's throat. The genin started forming hand seals and gathering earth onto his fingertips in annoyance which caused the earth to compress more tightly on his fingertips.. Taking aim, he'd fire off a round past the two other genin for the earth and stone to burst against one of the boulders near by.
"I'm getting a feeling of Deja vu here, Sentora, Zora… Two genin ganging up on a student to feel secure in the fact that they /might/ be able to over power a nine year-old girl with a surprise attack." Nendo spelled out while a frown marked his face and that spent bullet was replaced with a new one on his fingertip. "Should we go for the same set up as last time and see how badly you two get beaten before running like cowards this time around?" There was even the trailing Mitsue, perhaps, that would truly make today a reenactment of the last little conflict.
Mitsue was watching carefully and doing the best he could in order to make sure that Nendo didn't take things too far. He'd hate for other teen to blow himself up when they'd just kind of solidified their relationship. But then he'd also hate to stop Nendo prematurely and make it so that he wouldn't be able to learn the jutsu of his bloodline. So he stood in silence a short ways off, watching carefully for anything that screamed danger when he heard other noises instead. When Nendo said to find out what was going on he follows after the older teen, focusing chakra within himself in preperation for what may follow. ~Be careful Nendo…~ he says before his eyes fall on Kaneko and he starts towards the girl to try and help her to her feet. ~Nendo she might need some bandaging for some of this.~
COMBAT: Mitsue focuses 1801 stamina to turn it into 2000 usable chakra!
The two genin (who are, in a sense, more experienced than Nendo) turn to look at the Toujitakumi. "Heh… This won't be as awful as last time. We know your dirty tricks." Zora's eyes shift to point to Mitsue, who is very clearly there. "/He's/ the one that was making all those … things earlier! We know how he is, and we know how to deal with him, too!" Sentora glances back to see Kaneko struggling to get up, and he kicks her back down. When Mitsue approaches, the Gansao would find himself encountering a pillar of earth aimed right at him. It was a warning shot… It never actually would hit him unless he tried moving closer instead of away. "Any closer, and your little friend here can swim with the fish," Zora suddenly announces. "She was the one that challenged us, after all~."
Kaneko wants to yell at the pair, but she was just kicked in the gut, and that wasn't at all a pleasant experience, nor did it help her get her breath back. So she's just, at this point, gasping for air and holding onto her middle. She's a bit worried something cracked just now, considering the force of the last kick. "So then, Nendo," Zora continues. "You want to fight? You should wait until Sentora is done with her. And while you're waiting, you can face me. And don't think /that brat/" He points to Mitsue, "Can interfere. If either of us sense a bit of illusion, Kaneko here is gone."
the genin would move a hand before that pillar though when it stopped short he'd let it lower down once more. They were playing around which only made Nendo more annoyed with their picking on Kaneko all over again. "I highly doubt she challenged you both to catch her off guard and kick the coat out of her.." The genin explained though when Zora took him up on his offer, Nendo would narrow his eyes as he listened to the conditions that were being set, glancing down at Kaneko and then letting out a slow sigh as he nodded his head. "Mitsue, make sure they don't hurt Kaneko anymore. I'll see about getting these two to go play nice with eachother somewhere else.." Nendo would explain. He'd not be very happy with having to fight the two of them but at the least he'd see how far he'd come while having to fight on his own rather than having someone at his side. "You know, saying someone should wait to fight and then immediately saying to fight someone while waiting is a bit of a contradiction.. Are you getting nervous already?"
COMBAT: Nendo focuses 3008 stamina to turn it into 3500 usable chakra!
Mitsue's eyes narrow when the pillar of earth rises near him, stopping short so he doesn't accidently smack into the earth. Violet eyes shift to the two boys as he feels something inside that he hadn't really ever felt before. Anger. So much anger. These two were doing nothing but soaking him off. Once they make their ultimatum he whips out his notepad and writes quickly and sloppily on it. When he's done he throws the entire noteboot at the feet of one of the Genin, the words on it plainly stating 'If you touch any of us again you'll regret it.' With that he moves around the pillar made of dirt and stone to wal towards Kaneko again.
"What? I thought it sounded pretty cool… OH well!" Zora makes a handseal, then exhales a wave of heat that would force Nendo to cover his eyes. It wasn't much, but it would likely be a good enough distraction that Nendo doesn't see the fires that suddenly explode from Zora's mouth. It was his real attack: blazing shuriken. The shuriken all looked like they were on fire when in reality they were just really well-shaped bolts of fire!
As Mitsue draws closer to Kaneko, he would encounter another pillar. "Oh? The mute's gotten a bit more courage, eh? Well, then, I guess…" A small glance from Sentora is aimed at Zora, and then Sentora kicks Kaneko right into the river! "Well, I don't know if I'll regret it or now. Considering your friend is tumbling down the river, it looks like you have a choice to make." Sentora is actually not too happy about what his older brother just made him do, though. What if Kaneko died? Then Ken would be all over their butts!
And Kaneko, of course, finds herself kicked right into the water! She was already at the edge of it thanks to some secret-earth-manipulation, but now she was actually in it! And it was /cold/ despite the fact that it was the middle of summer. Probably because the water had some frozen base or something from somewhere high up? Maybe. Either way, the cold shocks her system, and she still hadn't quite gotten her breath. The girl struggles to stay afloat, but the pain in her middle from a cracked rib is a bit much, and she ends up ducking back down into the water.

Nendo would wait for the seal and then jump away from the wave of heat though the shuriken were still a problem that came a bit too quickly and nendo's left arm was slashed fairly deeply before the genin could shift completely from in the way. A low growl would rumble in the genin's throat as he when the burning sensation shot up his arm. Closing his left eye, Nendo would fire off two rapid bursts before charging in with the last of his shots lingering on his hand until he was closer and fired them off toward Zora's knees. He'd seen what happened to Kaneko and while he felt he could distract both, he doubted his ability to handle both at once… He'd have to try bringing Zora down quickly if he wanted to make a better opening for Mitsue to get through and chase after Kaneko before it was too late.
~Go get her. I'm not strong enough to help her,~ Mitsue tells Nendo immediately after the girl is kicked into the river. He's still working on the whole swimming thing and, while he's definitely getting better, he's not good enough to try and drag someone out of the river current. Not only that, but he's physically unable to actually carry Kaneko around much if at all, and dragging her through the river's current would just not work out that well at all. He turns his focus on the two boys, eyes narrowing in anger. He makes the hand seals quickly for the auditory genutsu to fall on the two and, should it succeed, he would tell them with anger tinging his tone, ~You should have listened to me.~ Mitsue grinds his teeth when suddenly from behind him appears a small, semi-transparent cloak of dark purple that settles behind him. Without even seeming to notice it the teen makes the hand seals once more to try and frighten the two brothers into staying right where they are! He definitely had new people to test his genjutsu on now!

The two Murasame both sense the genjutsu at the end of their minds, and the pair don't seem to be too bothered by the little voice in the back of their heads. It isn't very distracting, to say the least, as Zora avoids all of Nendo's attacks. "Oh? The quiet one is going to be facing us? Hah! This ought to be good~" he says with undisguised glee. He clearly enjoys fighting just for the sake of it… It was a contest to see who was the strongest, after all! And in the Murasame clan, strength was what is important… He doesn't see the figure that Mitsue is trying to get him to see, either, ignoring it because it is a mere illusion. Zora makes a few handseals, and Mitsue would feel his wrath: fire balls that covered an entire area in fiery explosions.
Sentora isn't as … resistant to the genjutsu as his older brother. He falls for both mind tricks, hearing Mitsue's voice right when the boy turns into… well, it almost looks like a Bijuu's cloak (not that they'd know what that looks like). The younger Murasame's eyes open wide, and he … can't move. The big scary monster that's seemingly right behind Mitsue has paralyzed him like the basilisk did in Harry Potter! He just sorta…. trembles in his spot, unable to move an inch.
Kaneko is fighting a life or death battle over in the river here, and she's losing pretty quickly. The cold is starting to seep through her entire body, though, which might be good. It's numbing the pain of the cracked rib, so she can sort of swim. Until she hits a rock… The girl bumps into it in just the wrong spot, making her see stars for a moment thanks to the pain.
Nendo was going to argue with Mitsue when he felt the shift in the young Gansao.. it was something hard to see… something there behind the Gansao but whatever it was, the genjutsu that Mitsue used was more impressive. A little frightening.. "I'll be back, so don't let them lay a finger on you." Nendo commanded before charging forward past the two genin and toward the river to dive in. He would slip beneath the surface and start swimming along with the flow of the current so he could speed forward toward where Kaneko was. Reduced sound let Nendo focus on his sight, looking for the form of the smaller girl as he swam ahead and while that rock was bad news for Kaneko, it would possibly be just what was needed for Nendo to close the distance. Rising to the surface of the water, Nendo would call out for the younger girl while reaching for her arm so he could pull her toward himself and start dragging her toward the shore.

One of the brothers falls under his genjutsu and Mitsue just smirks at the other troublesome Murasame. He glances over to see that Nendo is indeed going after Kaneko which made him feel a little bit better. Too bad he hadn't noticed the fire come at him in time and two of them smack into him before he can slip away from the third with a genjutsu based clone. The clone wavers and vanishes when it's hit and Mitsue is standing just to the side of it. He pull the tie on his physical cloak and lets it drop now that it's charred, and his small semi-transparent cloak (though this early form is more like a cape) becomes more obvious. ~I'm tired of your hurting Kaneko, and threatening Nendo. I don't want to see it happen again!~ He makes the hand seals again to try and trap the other brother with the fearful figure of black before he pulls out two kunai and aims for the center mass of the two Murasame…so that hopefully his horrible throwing will still allow them to kind of hit.

This time around, Mitsue's dark cloak genjutsu is too strong! Zora falls to it, but he doesn't do so willingly. The boy clenches his jaw, struggling to move…. But he cannot. And because Mitsue aimed for their center, the Gansao is lucky in that he manages to hit both of their legs. It breaks them out of the genjutsu thanks to the pain, of course, but they both can't do much more than hop around and try to keep the weight off their 'mortal injury'.
Kaneko barely hears Nendo over the water rushing and clogging her ears, but she can sort of… The girl struggles to breath, inhaling a lungful of water instead. She just can't get a break with this air thing! Suddenly, Nendo has her in his grip, and she's getting dragged. The current might be a bit strong for the Toujitakumi, but at least Kaneko isn't being tossed around like a rag doll, and she has a slightly better chance of surviving with Nendo clinging to her!
Nendo would pull Kaneko to himself and then cover her face as he dove under the water again and, rather than fighting the current, he'd swim with it further. Swimming at an angle, the Toujitakumi would reach out until he felt the rocky soil of the river and could dig his fingers into the ground. Tensing his arm and finally fighting the current, Nendo would try pulling himself from the water, releasing the firm hold on Kaneko's face so she could breathe only when he was sure they'd come far enough from in the water that Kaneko wouldn't gulp down another mouthful of water. Several panting breaths later, Nendo would work to shove Kaneko higher along the shore so she didn't get washed away while he fought to get to his hands and knees. "Kaneko? Are you alright, Kaneko?" Nendo would ask while looking at the young girl and patting her cheek to try getting her attention.
Mitsue expresion doesn't change from he evil look despite where his kunai hit. Yep, he was totally aiming for the legs of course! Duh! Where else /would/ he be aiming? When they hop around for a few moments Mitsue sends out a warning, his tone itself taking on a dark quality. ~You will leave Kaneko-chan alone from on, or next time I will leave the darkness with you for a while. Now go, flee, before I change my mind and decides to attack once more.~ He waits to make sure the two leave before he would jog over and try to find Nendo and Kaneko.
The two boys glance at each other, then they just nod to Mitsue and hobble away. If they were to go after Kaneko ever again, they'd likely do it when they were sure Mitsue was off on a mission somewhere… This isn't the last of them, dang it! But for today, they're done. Sentora was cowed even before Mitsue threw the kunai!
Kaneko ends up just floating along with Nendo, struggling for breath the whole time until they reached the rocky shore. Then, she would be scarcely breathing, as she was pretty water logged. To make matters worse, that rock that hit her in just the wrong spot happened to knock that cracked rib a bit over to the side, which is even /worse/ for her breathing! But after a few breaths of air, Kaneko is able to cough up a lot of the water, along with a bit of blood.
Nendo would lower down to an elbow and press an ear to Kaneko's chest, listening to her breathing with a look of focus before he'd start to stand, reaching down so he could pull the young girl up from the ground carefully. "Come on, you're tougher than this.." Nendo reminded the girl to try encouraging her and looking her form over. With her rib quite obviously fractured or worse, there'd be very gentle touches in her ribs' future but Nendo would still be trying to get the girl to her feet when Mitsue arrived. Looking the young Gansao over, Nendo didn't show a fearful expression, but one of amusement and interest. "You chased them off on your own? I think you're getting better than me, Mitsue." Nendo would comment in an honest toy of voice though he'd clearly be focused on getting Kaneko up so they could walk her to the hospital. "I'll be the one to chase the two of them off if they ever try something like this again."
Mitsue finds the two and heaves a sigh of relief when he sees the two of them out of the water and with Nendo trying to help the young girl up. ~I'm glad to see that neither of you drowned,"~ Mitsue says in a relieved tone of voice. When he sees Nendo kind of supporting the girl he goes over to help as well. ~Yes, I did scare them away. Ah, no, you are still much better than me at most things Nendo. They just happened to fall for my trick was all.~ Mitsue would help Kaneko walk either by support under an arm or, if nothing else, making sure the path they take is clear of anything that might cause the two to slip up.
Kaneko, after spitting out all the water, manages to weakly say, "Hehe… Just make sure Hotaru-Chan doesn't see me…" She didn't want her friend to worry! The girl struggles to stand, needing a bit of assistance after being water logged. But the girl is able to stand! Yay! Walking is another story, and it's really only thanks to Nendo and Mitsue that she makes it to the hospital. According to the doctors, Kaneko should be fine in a few days. They just wanted to watch that rib and make sure she doesn't get pneumonia or something godawful like that. They also thank Nendo and Mitsue for finding her so quickly, as things could have turned out /very/ bad. They might have had a dead student!
