"Second Promotion Exams - Explosive Destructive Power! Risu vs. Onimitsu"
Kirigakure Dammed Arena
Upon waking up in a hospital bed still bearing the weight of his armor and sword Onimitsu immediatly shot up screaming at the top of his longs before sanity eased its way back in place. In its wake the meories behind his arrival in Kiri's medical center slowly seep to the forefront of his mind with Yoshimitsu's aid. None of what he saw eased his trouble mind. In fact, it inspired him to make a promise that could neither be so easily forgotten nor forgiven if broken. It would not be until the day finally arrived for Onimitsu to face Risu in the arena that evidence of maintaining this promise is shown.
For those that knew the swordsman well enough in the crowd, seeing him enter the arena not only dressed in his usual everyday clothing, a white male kimono with Hydrangea Flower prints along the bottom hem, they would immediatly begin to whisper amongst themselves. At least, all who were male were concerned though a few women may find it hard to look at him without swooning after seeing his face, for once not covered with a mask.
"Hello Risu-san." He stated then bowed respectfully as one would expect in any traditional dojo match. "Onimitsu no Kiri is very much… This one is honored to have you as an opponent." He added upon raising to meet her gaze once more. It flickers over to Amiko afterwards as she spoke, but beyond a polite nod in understanding being given not a word leaves his mouth. The only left for him now was to grip the hilt of his Katana, build up a bit of chakra, and slip into a basic stance meant for Iaido.
Risu tilts her head, "A sword?" She asks as if she can't quite believe that she's facing someone who would use something like a sword. It's not really an insulting tone, just… disbelief. She shrugs and takes a deep breath. "Well, I guess we should start then, right?" She says as she glances over at the pair of proctors then back to Onimitsu. She cracks her knuckles then shakes her hands. "We'll just try to keep this nice and easy…. keep control… nothing to worry about…" She mutters to herself, so that those in the arena can hear but those in the stands might have trouble making out her words.
More importantly, for the moment, Risu shows no signs of taking the inititive, allowing Onimitsu make the first move as if she doesn't want to start the battle quite yet. She frowns slightly as she watches for the hint of the first action, expecting high speed from her opponent if he is a sword user.
Onimitsu narrowed his eye. Something was amiss with the young lass before him. Something buried deep beneath the skin… and trying to crawl its way to the surface. He barely suppressed a shudder over the thought before re-affirming his stance. A second later after bearing down just a little more Onimitsu fades in and out of existence. Slashing Risu's abdomen in passing if she couldn't keep up with his speed, then as he spun about to try and deliver a round house kick, he completely sheathes the Katana once more.
Aside for the possible need to take a moment to recover from any counter strike implemented, Onimitsu would immediatly puts some distance between himself and Risu and flash through a short series of handsigns. Upon the final seal being struck a thick mist would seemingly sprout from non-existence from behind the swordsman before quickly sweeping forward to hide him from view.
Risu gestures, once, twice, both times a glimmering white chakra seems to come from her hands and forms a blocking item for first the slash and then the round house kick. The first block is a an actual block of marble that just appears in place to stop the blade. The second object looks to be an odd metal pillar, making the impact probably jolt Onimitsu's foot. As the mist forms up, Risu looks and… frowns, "Don't do that. Don't hide…" She says as she scowls, "Isato hid… he died… don't hide."
Risu makes some strange hand seals as she tracks Onimitsu and makes a gesture, and…. nothing happens. Well, nothing really productive. Some black streaks kind of fizzle from her fingertips and go no where. This makes Risu first do a double take in surprise then anger, "No! You can't just not be there now. You can't just go… and… you can't!" It is unclear who she is talking to. "You're always trying to get out, and now you don't?" She sounds confused, disoriented and looks up to stare at Onimitsu, clearly knowing right where he is at the moment. Still, at least for him there is no obvious incoming attack.
Hidden Mist. Always a nice choice, though the execution, Isra imagines, isn't what he was going for, she's certain. Still, he does appear to be skilled with the blade, but the girl is keeping up well with the fighter so far. "Uh…" Isra started. "Is she…well, maybe it's just the heat of the battle…" She starts talking with Amiko. "These exams can be intense. Especially after surviving and enduring more fighting," she placed her hands on her hips then and shifted her weight to one side.
Amiko folds her arms over her chest, looking carefully at Risu. There was certainly something strange about the girl, and the Uzumaki was determined not to let anything go wrong in the match she was proctoring. 'Who is she talking to?' Amiko thinks to herself, gritting her teeth as she tries not to stress too much. After all, neither of the Genin have even been hit yet. "I'm more than a little concerned," Amiko says to Isra, biting her lip, "Genin talking to themselves freaks me out a little. And for a Genin this skilled to have a jutsu simply fail… there's something very strange going on. Keep your eyes peeled."
"It was never truly meant to conceal young one." Onimitsu replied the instant the statement is made. Afterwards he began to flash through a short series of handsigns but is given pause at first by pain flaring up in his leg. The second time he is given pause is extended by the swordsman straining to focus on Risu's words without fully breaking his concentration. This task becomes that much harder due to his body begining to tremble as he listened. "That palable fear… so similiar to a-…" Onimitsu eye is shut tightly closed in refusal to look back into the past further.
When he opens it next, it is with enough conviction to finish the jutsu and watch as the mist coalesces into three orbs of water, floating in mid-air for those few moments it takes for him to take aim and fire them in rapid succession.
Risu is trying to focus and get her jutsu to work. She tries to stop the bullets, the first two easily hit her, each one increasing her rage as they slam into her. The third one though… suddenly blackness flares up before Risu and… the bullet is just /gone/. Nothing left of it as the darkness swallows the bullet of water. Risu gives a growl, "There we go… You'll do what I say… You'll…." At this point something seems to go rather wrong. The entire scene takes on a surreal appearance as there is a flux of white and dark chakra around Risu, as the chakra plays over her form, as she tries to contain it. "N… No! You… you'll do as…."
Risu's words are cut off at this point. They devolve into a gutteral growl. Her eyes go completely black and she gestures at Onimitsu and a crackling bolt of black chakra streaks towards him, two of them infact. Even as the black chakra appears to build around Risu's form, pulsing and growing stronger, like shadows oozing from her in the dim light of the cloudy day. But… both bolts simply vanish before hitting Onimitsu, resulting in nothing. Risu cries out in rage as the jutsu fails her again, as she glares at her hands, as if they have betrayed her, her attention slipping from Onimitsu for a moment.
"I can understand, but it may just be a little stress. I have my eyes peeled at all times here." Isra offers to Amiko. "So far the battle is going well…so far," she tilted her head to one side. "Hm," she looked closely at Risu. She…doesn't think she's supposed to see that much of that darkness. She's beginning to feel unsteady.
^t While hiso first two successive strikes made Onimitsu conflicted between pride and regret, the aftermath of his let aqua bullet fading from existence left him wide-eyed and speechless. If not for the 'darkness' that consumed by the bullet in the first place he might've settled for believing it to be some wierd Katon Jutsu… but no, he was absolutely certian that none existed that could absorb the bullet without some type of vapor being released upon contact. As his mind raced to figure out the answer, Onimitsu grew increasingly more wary of the strange Suna nin.
Then came the distortion of the very air around Risu that made his eye widen in suprise. Chakra was /NOT/ supposed to be visible. At least definetly not like this! The change to both eyes and attitude only filled him with that much more fear. Still, he could not heed even the most basic need to fight or flee from the source of such fear. All he could do was stand there paralyzed as the 'bolts' of shadows were released before closing his eye and cringing back from them.
Several moments pass before the swordsman manages to find the courage to open his eye to narrow slits, then widen it to peer at his surroundings. Aside form the odd distortion around Risu… nothing had changed. His eye settled after awhile upon the proctor, but when she appears unconcerned by the effects of Risu's attempt, Onimitsu frowned and focused his gaze upon Risu. "… *sighs dejectedly*… This is not right… This… This one must try to end this with his next move or else—" He needed not finish his next words; only act by taking a steady breath and narrow his eye to a slit as he stirred up his greatest jutsu. In one large exhale a toxic blueish-purple 'mist' is released towards Risu. If the silent prayers he made with this act was heeded, hopefully whatever changes were overtaking Risu would weaken long enough to try and bind her next and call for an end. Even if it meant surrendering himself…
From Dammed Arena - Stands,
The darkness surges and absorbs the toxic mist without a problem, just… making it be gone. There's a crackling and the darkness around Risu starts to fluxuate dramatically… a tendril snakes out and the marble block she summoned earlier vanishes, as does the metal pillar. Risu screams in some kind of strange agony, and… suddenly the darkness just expands, outwards, in a perfect sphere from her body, rapidly, outwards, leaving no place to dodge to as it surges forth, concealing everything it touches. It surges until it hits the wards that surround the arena and crackle against them, like an angry beast frustrated at being caged. For a moment even those in the stands might worry as there is a play of some kind of arcing along the seal barriers but… then the darkness just simply vanishes, leaving behind an arena scrubbed clean of every last bit of gravel, water, or… much of anything, a depresssion centers on the prone figure of Risu, even the dam itself appears to have taken some damage from the sphere, despite its protections.
Risu is naked, curled up in the center of the arena, for the darkness has chewed away everything not living it touched. How the others faired… under such an assault?

Watching the fight from one of the halls, Hinotori is intrigued by Onimitsu, his techniques are very unique something he's not ever seen before. His eyes taking in everything as he watches him and Amiko. THe exams have honestly been pretty good so far, each of the opponents have known their limits and stopped when they needed to, he wondered would the same become of this.
Well before the all-consuming wave of darkness reached him along with a silent scream of agonizing from having every cell in his body felt like it was being stretched like taffy, Onimitsu stared defiantly at Risu as his toxic mist becomes the first to be devoured by the darkness. He had expected as much to happen and had hope the mist, even if it only amounted to a very costly distraction, would be enough to buy the swordsman enough time to still gamble on one last charge to try and disable her.
It was pure arrogance, desperation, and foolishness.
As far as Onimitsu might have been concerned minutes, days, or even hours have slipped by after he finally blacked out from both the pain and exhaustion. By some unfortunate miracle he awoke a few minutes later, unwounded but extremely exhausted to the point that only willpower alone was keeping him upright as he kneeled upon the outer edge of the crater. It also helped that the sword he bore for this match kept him propt up as well, but given its severly detoriated state from the jutsu, he'd be lucky enough to move it even a inch before it finally broke to pieces. His clothing faired little better, BUT at least he wasn't completely naked. Just really exposed from the waist up with only half of his kimono top remaining and a makeshift loin cloth being made out what remained of the lower half of the same kimono.
As tired as Onimitsu was, he managed to find the extra will power he needed to force himself to stand. Twice over in fact, since the sword shattered as predicted, then wearily scan his surroundings for any sign of the others. If Amiko or Isra's form is glimpsed even for a second, Onimitsu strangely pays them little heed. His gaze only settles once he spotted Risu at the epicenter of the crater. Pain and fatigue is driven underneath the wave of invigoration released by medical nin, his instincts as a young doctor. Thus, after a bit of stumbling, rolling, and sliding, Onimitsu eventually makes his way down to her. Thoughtless scanning with his eye while trying to catch his breath, then focusing what tiny bit of chakra he could muster to prob deeper and offer whatever energy he could to try and bring back from what seemed the brink of death. Unless stopped, Onimitsu continues most of what little he had is spent and all he could do afterwards is belatedly try to cover Risu up with what remained of his Kimono.
As the giant black sphere expands out of Risu, Amiko grimaces, quickly forming several seals. A pillar of earth rises up in front of her, but its quickly engulfed by the sphere of destructive power, which then proceeds to cover Amiko as well. The girl's skin seems to melt and she screams in agony as the ground disappears from beneath her. Her clothes simply cease to exist as well, and Amiko passes into unconsciousness. When then sphere of destructive power ceases to exist, Amiko's body drops to the (now much lower) floor of the arena, beaten and bleeding. From the stands its uncertain as to whether she's even still breathing.
That unsteady feeling…that gut instinct that says something is serious is about to happen was growing stronger. It felt like everything went dark when that sphere rose and its mass appeared to have a gravitating effect as anything in its path was bound for destruction. Isra didn't have time to respond as she tried to lift a barrier to guard herself, but it failed miserably. The sphere struck and everything went black. She wouldn't be waking up for a while, it seems. There was barely any activity, her clothes were torn and tattered, so maybe it did work to some degree, but not enough to spare her any real damage. With all that chakra drained out of her and stamina, she'd need some time to recover, though that's more of an understatement.
Zaruji just fingered you.
From Dammed Arena - Stands,
Eyes widening as he sees the darkness, his Sharingan spinning as he he watches the match. Smiling a little as Amiko is able to use Earth to help her, "Nice." he says more to himself then to anyone else, and with him being the only one where he is, he just smirks.
As Onimitsu manages to get to Risu's form, it is clear she is still breathing, ragged as those breaths are. She's shivering but there is no sign of the darkness at this point, or anything else, just a fragile looking 10 year old girl, shivering on the cold smooth stone, that was chewed down by the darkness. Shivering even in her passed out state. She is not likely to wake soon. There are no obvious wounds on her body but the paleness to her flesh makes it clear she has undergone the same 'wrenching' that she inflicted on the rest, perhaps even worse than them because she was at the center of it all, as marked by the fact that the crater is deepest here and not a bit of her weapons or clothing or anything remains about her. At least he covers her up but there is no doubt that Risu is not going to continue the fight or do much of anything anytime soon. The fight is clearly over, and even the proctors appear seriously injured.
As the impact of what just happened sinks in to those observing from outside the ring, a group of Kiri nin quickly move in to take control of the scene. One moving to the dam to quickly shore it up with earth jutsu, and several mednin rushing to provide what aid they can, as the match almost as an after thought is called for Onimitsu as medics start to carry any who can't walk themselves out on stretchers with blankets over them, even as some attempt various healing jutsu on the fly. Things like this just weren't supposed to happen in the second bracket of the chuunin match, but Kiri is prepared for almost any contingency in these games and so prove they are not to be caught off guard with their performance of snapping to action.
Somewhere in the back of Onimitsu's mind the nearly frantic efforts of his fellow Kiri shinobi is registered… but he paid them not even a glance back to observe. He simply stayed focus purely on the task at hand. Nearly blacking out after drawing out his natural reserves is the only thing that breaks his concentration. In an almost instinctive effort to dig out more regardless of the consequences, Onimitsu placed his hands shakily together and closed his eye as if to prayer. Fat, water, and whatever else he could find is burned away in moments; but in exchange, the hidden reserve gave him the strength to continue his work on Risu.
Beyond at best stablizing her for the moment and providing temporary warmth from the makeshift blanket, Onimitsu is forced to accept he's done all that he could before finally letting his mind focus on his surroundings. Rage at the medics appearant 'sluggish' response to the most injuried fuels him enough to rise shakily to his feet and grab the first one he could. Any attempt on there part to repair him is countered with a weak, but murderous glare until the complied. Only once satisfied did he break the jutsu… and pas out.
