Land of Earth
Time had passed since the last village in the Land of Earth had fallen under attack and the Iwagakure shinobi had gone out to subvert a plan to take over its people. They had done so, though at a great loss to the village itself and some of its people. With no real information thus far obtained the shinobi had little they could do but wait to see what happened next.
The strange symbol continued to appear across the land though it seemed a bit more rare than before. Yet the efficiency when it appeared had also doubled, with attacks coming that much sooner. The speed had made it difficult for the shinobi to respond in time, though most of the attacks continued to be on roads against unsuspecting caravans. The lessened appearance did at least make it easier on the shinobi administration, allowing them to not have to have an area set up just for sightings any longer. Of course, that doesn't make them any less efficient themselves when a sighting did appear.
One such has appeared again and Juudai's informants are quick to send the Tsuchikage a report via falcon of just such an appearance. The target at the moment doesn't appear to be a village, but instead a well used road that many caravans travel on. It has already been hit a few times though always in different areas but upon the sighting the shinobi have been keeping people well away from it, protecting them and leaving a possible opening for the Iwa nin.
Having heard of this road being a target, Juudai had called in for something a bit different. Nothing. At least that's what appears to be. The only change at all was a slightly increased patrol in that area. Was she insane? It wasn't clear but when asked she simply told people that she was doing what was necessary. However, on this day a caravan is setting out along that road from Kumogakure. In that caravan is called for people to help on this very special mission and a couple of genin are 'hired' to guard the caravan. Sitting in the caravan's driver seat is an old woman with her hands on the reigns as she pushes along the carvan out toward the road. Hidden beneath the henge that that old woman was is none other than the Tsuchikage herself, Juudai. Her eyes forward as she haunches and moves the cart toward and along that attacked road.
This caravan is supposed to be holding a special type of cargo. People. People who are done with the dangers of Iwagakure and wanting to get out of dodge. They are currently heading out for the Land of Grass to strike out on their own. ANything has to be safer than Iwagakure, after all, seeing as they can't protect their own villages in the Land of Earth.
Believe it or not, Hiei is actually with this group. He is henged as a non-discript teenager inside of the caravan. He looks mal nourished and more than a little flighty. By design, of course. He sits at the very back, looking out towards the rear with his knees drawn up to his chest and worried look in his dingy brown eyes. After hearing how Juudai was adamant about protecting her people, Hiei couldn't help but to get involved. So here he was, pretending to be a refugee from the Land of Earth. He doesn't normally do the whole henged deception type thing, but it wasn't because he couldn't, it more because it just didn't fit his personality. However, this was for Juudai, so he had resigned himself to do whatever she needed him to.
Oh, this is perfect for Cherii — a STING operation! :DDD Okay, horrible pun out of the way now. Cherii sits huddled in the wagon with the other passengers, her honeycomb dress obscured by a plain traveler's cloak. She hugs a kettle with various travel cooking implements in it to her midriff — a caravan's got to have a cook naturally enough, and Cherii can both literally fulfill that position (assuming they're out long enough to need it) and keep her weapons at hand this way. :) Not that physical skirmishing is her strong suit. c.c
It's rather nice having a chef be one's trade aside from the secret trade of mercenary work. It provides a cover without the need for a cover. Adorned in her work outfit, apron, bandana and all, the large woman sits toward the back of the caravan sipping on a steaming cup of tea as she hums lightly. The others, of course, would be offered snacks, which are basically meals by portion but snacks to her. While she is keeping an eye out, she seems to simply be gazing around cheerily at her surroundings as a form of sight-seeing while they travel.
The caravan travels along and the symbol itself is coming just around the next bend. If the Tsuchikage has any words of wisdom to her secret retinue now would be the time…

For her part, Juudai had already said what she needed to say to Hiei and Cherii. She had told them to be prepared for the attack. The other shinobi onboard were to a degree were all to take down smaller fries and leave the big ones to Juudai, Hiei, and Cherii. Well, that and to Yuko as well. Yuko was hired by an old woman, the same old woman that Juudai is henged as. Hired because she didn't trust those wimply and useless Iwagakure genin to protect them and she wanted a professional. Now, even as they come around the corner, the old woman is looking around after seeing the symbol. She appears to be nervous and fidgeting some as she pushes her cart forward. They wanted out of Iwagakure, after all, but not into the hands of some bunch of rebels.
The boy lays his head on his knees for a moment, a heavy sigh coming forth from his mouth. However, to the casual observer it might look like the refugee is suffering from an anxiety attack of nerves. What he's actually doing is discreetly keeping an eye out while building up his chakra. He would only focus a small amount for now, perhaps not even more than what the genin are using at the moment. He would also stretch his senses, looking to see if there were any surprises along the road for the group.

Well, that's awkward — now the caravan has TWO ninja chefs posing as ordinary chefs! c.c; Hopefully that won't be a tip-off to the ambushers they're trying to draw out that something weird is going on. Just in case, Cherii draws her arms around the mouth of her kettle to casually obscure its contents. She's not the official chef for this group, she's, um, just a traveler going partway with the caravan before splitting off. And she's going to need her kettle to do her own cooking once she's alone. Yeah, that's it. c.c Cherii rests her chin on her hand and looks skyward as if lost in thought, though really she's watching for signals from a few bees she has keeping an eye out from above.

Well, folks, it looks like we've had a minor change in narration, but the plot is still the same! This time around, it looks like there are some, but not many, signs of people as the caravan of disguised shinobi come towards the big giant symbol. It steadily seems to creep towards the cart as they all proceed, and eventually… Something explodes! The ground itself, even, seems to shake and shiver until suddenly… People come out of it! There's a lot of people, too, but not many seem to have very high chakra levels. They're all seeming to rely on weapons to attack. Swords, Hammers, Spears, Pickaxes… Name it, and you can probably see the weapon. Now the question is… Are these dudes actually skilled with these weapons?
The ones that can throw and have enough of their tools to do so rain a barrage of throwing knives, rocks, and other small sharp things at the caravan. They don't expect anyone too powerful because it looks like a normal caravan, after all, so why not add a few taunts and jeers to the mix? "Trying to run away? We'll find you, of course! You and your family so we can destroy them like we did the other villages!" Insert evil laughter here.

The weapons aimed at the old woman at the head of the caravan slam into her and she seems to be hit. She seems to slump before she stands up straight and the disguise poofs away, "Now!" She declares and then she glares, "Hiei! Find the ones who appear to be actual shinobi, I want one alive." She then leaps off the caravan seat and tosses a kunai toward a group of enemies even as others shinobi will drop their disguises, "Kill anyone else!" She then slams her hand into another one and attempts to catch a few more behind that one. Her palm aimed for the first one's chest and then an explosion of chakra bursts out of her hand.

When the explosion happens, the lanky looking kid in the back tumbles out of the caravan, making it look like he fell, but anyone who notices such things can easily tell that it was a controlled fall. When the knives and such come flying out, he catches one in each of his hands, blade first. His fist crackles with lightning as Hiei allows the Henge to drop, revealing the exact opposite of what he was pretending to be. The Raikage smirks a little as he flings the knives back at his attackers. "You want one alive? You're sending the wrong guy for that, Juudai." Well, she wanted to pick out the shinobi yeah? Only one way to find that out. He forms handseals and then extends his palm towards the group. A shockwave of lightning in a the shape of a cone fires from his palm. Should it connect it would temporarily shut down all motor fucntions within the group, leaving them easy pickings for the next attacker.

Why are all the Kage such extreme personalities? u.u; Guess it takes a person like that to get into such a position. Cherii focuses on defense for the wagon to start off, unrolling a scroll and dropping boulders from it over the side to provide some cover. Unfortunately she takes a couple mild cuts in doing so. :P Cherii drops down behind the ramparts she just made and unscrews a jar of honey. Her hive swarm out to partake of the energizing treat while she licks a dab herself and focuses her chakra. "All ye braw boyos are in fer a sair hidin'," she mutters. >P

A few are lucky, but most are not as the two Kage brings their wrath down upon the attackers. Fortunately (or not), there seems to be no immediate end to this wave. It's almost like, at least today, the enemy is just keeping these guys busy! Juudai is able to take out a lot, but there are one or two that were either skilled enough to keep out of reach, or they were just lucky enough to avoid the attack. The same goes for Hiei, too. A lot are taken down, but there's one or two that seem unscathed.
"W-wait, what the heck is the Raikage doing?" mutters one to another. "I dunno, but the Tsuchikage's here, too." "But they were-" "Yeah, I know… We should-" "No kidding!" goes the shushed conversation of a couple baddies in the way back. While their friends continue to bombard the shinobi with attacks, two of the fighters there decide to scoot out!

The ironclad defense of the Tushikage continues to keep her safe. SHe doesn't see the two getting out of here, she instead is busy fighting the enemy as they rush her, trying desperately to get past that barrier that makes her the scary person she is. It's as if she were simply impossible to harm. She meanwhile seems to be fine with them attacking her directly. She simply hops back and takes in a breath and suddenly a powerful flare of killing intent comes out of her eyes as her glare flows across her enemies, giving them visions of the many ways she could kill them.

Hiei moves around from the back of the caravan ducking and dodging flying obstacles as he goes. One of them zips by the side of his face and opens a cut on his cheek. He presses his fingers there to find blood oozing from the cut. A soft grunt as he looks at the two in the back as they begin to run for their lives. A predatory smile comes over his face as he lifts two fingers as lightning begins to spiral along his arm to pool at his fingertips. "Now just where in the hell do you think you're going?" He asks rhetorically as he fires a zig-zagging lightning bolt at first one, and then the other of the two men.

Cherii's a bit too busy stacking up even bigger boulders in defense of the wagon to notice a couple of deserters splitting off from the back of the enemy ranks. Too bad for them, she'd be a less fearsome and probably not as deadly foe as the Raikage. e.e Cherii drops back beneath the cover of the boulders sporting a few more lacerations. "Ach, 'tis a right ould rain o' cutlery. Sweep aroond tae their flank, see if ye cannae disrupt 'em." The bulk of Cherii's hive buzzes out and commences stinging the foe.

She's just staring at them, so all the men start char- FERROUS shank, that is a very scary look Juudai's giving them. Their weapons drop at their sides as they seem entranced by the Tsuchikage, their knees shaking. Duuurrrr… The two that are fleeing? Well, those two don't make it so very far when *ZZZAP*, Hiei gets both of them despite their running in zigzags to try and lose any weapons. Guess they should have zagged when they zigged. And then, of course, there's the fearsome cook! The enemy is focused on the head chef rather than her helpers, and it's much to their surprise when a swarm of bees start chasing them like they were bears after their hunny! "Ow! Go -ow- away -ow-!" shout the victims, fleeing from the bees.
Now the numbers are starting to wear thin. There doesn't seem to be any real sign of any actual shinobi, either. Just a bunch of goons that weren't terribly skilled; easy fodder for any ninja. And when the Kage are the enemy… Well, there are about ten men left, and it was up to them if they should fight or flee. They considered their options for a little bit, and then they simply decided on one thing: suicide! Better to go down that get caught! The ten of them all charge right at their targets, three per each with an extra hitting Hiei.

Watching Hiei rush off, Juudai hmms before looking back at the fools who have dropped due to her angry glare. Then she notes three more coming her way. She takes all the hits and doesn't actually be damaged by them at all. She jumps away from the attackers and as she does, she simply turns around and puts a cigar to her lips and whips her finger into the air. The two kunai she left behind explode, first in a flash of light and sound and then into an explosion of death. She then starts off toward the caravan, "Round up any survivors for questioning." She zaps her cigar, "Then erase those foolish symbols."

Hiei strikes a fighting pose once the idiots make up their minds to come after him. He meets them all head on, using his forearms to block, he catches another one's attack in his fist while ducking another and then kicking out his foot to stop another one from actually kicking him. Watching him fight it's no wonder that he's a taijutsu master. He then aims an open palm towards one, then he spins while leaping into the air, forming seals was he goes before he breathes out, peppering the area underneath him in fire. "You should have surrendered." He states calmly before wiping a little blood away from his cheek.

Cherii sees the men making their charge and calls her hive back to herself — after all, summoning big boulders doesn't work that great for stopping people from making direct assaults since they can just go around. <strike>And it gets boring spamming the same moves over and over.</strike> The bees arrive just a tiny bit too late to intercept the first guy's strike, but they form a swirling barrier around Cherii to block the other two. When the cloud dissipates, Cherii swings her kettle wildly at the rogues. "WHY — CAN'T — YE — LEAVE — FOLK — BE!?!?" >.<; Well, that'd hurt quite a bit if it hits…too bad it's so easy to dodge. X)

With most of the men charging straight into danger (at least agains the two Kage), they can only backwheel to try and avoid the incoming attacks. Too late, though. The men coming at Juudai are exploded, and the ones against the Raikage are burned. One on the inside, two on the outside. It's painful enough that they start to flee, too! Only the three that are facing Cherii are able to survive the onslaught from the shinobi (because the metal pot is really hard to swing around, y'know!), and they retaliate as quick as they can!
Watching them explode, Juudai looks over to Hiei as he seems to have things well in hand. She then glances back to Cherii. She frowns and immediately starts off toward Cherii quickly. She will come up behind the trio that are attacking Cherii and call upon them, "Fall to teh ground!" She yells out angrily as she glares at them and once more her deadly glare washes out of her eyes before she looks up, "Are you ok, Cherii?"
Hiei watches them scatter and then turns towards Juudai and her subordinate. Seeing that the Tsuchikage has everything under control, he reaches into his belt and pulls out one of Amani's bandages for the cut on his face. Applying it takes only a few minutes, but since there were only three of them left, he just watches for now. If this was the caliber of guys threatening the Land of Earth, then Juudai must just be short handed or something. He didn't even work up a sweat.

Cherii's bees do their best to knock her assailant's blades off course while she trades swings for slices with them. They do a pretty good job, two out of three ain't bad. Still, good thing the Tsuchikage rode in to bail her out, especially as Cherii isn't giving as good as she's getting. Cherii drops her kettle and kneels after the rogues succumb to Juudai's genjutsu, clamping a hand over her largest cut. "Phew…I'll be a'right after a guid patchin'. Thank ye fer pullin' me fat from th'fire, Tsuchikage-sama." u.u;

The three men that were attacking Cherii blink a bit as their gaze goes to match Juudai's. And then they feel the same fear that all do when the Kage is gazing down at you like you're in trouble! Oh no! Well, with them out of the way, there's not much left to do. All around the shinobi are bodies of the fallen, and none of them are allies for now. So that's good? There are still those symbols everywhere, though :(
Taking a drag of her cigar, Juudai shakes her head, "I want all of those still alive bound, as I said, and ready for questioning." SHe then gestures to a few genin, "You three, you will make sure all these symbols are destroyed." She nods her head and then walks over toward Hiei, "Thank you for your assitance here." She then frowns and looks around, "This is what I was worried about. None of these people are the real threat." She then takes a drag of her cigar, "It was just a smaller group." She then turns away and starts back toward the village.
Hiei offers Juudai a two fingered wave. "Don't mention it. Anytime you need a hand, just ask." He shakes his head. "These men were all pitiful. Not a real fighter among them. I'm not really sure what your group hopes to accomplish by sending these idiots to their deaths time and time again." He shoves his hands into his pockets and begins to walk along with Juudai. As he moves by Cherii, he offers her a wink and a half smile. "Not bad, Chef." He comments as he goes to leave the area so the genin can do their jobs.
Not a real fighter among them…and yet they managed to give Cherii a tough time. u.u Granted it was three against one, but still. Cherii really needs to boost her taijutsu skills! >.< And lose some of this FAT in the process, so people don't HAVE to pull it out of the fire. DX Cherii sighs and looks for somebody to seal up her wounds so she can go help with the symbol-destroying without losing more blood in the meantime.
