"Fuuma vs. Fuma - Interdiction"
Land of Fire
The mission is interdiction. Two Jounin, a powerful Uzumaki ally of Konohagakure, and a Genin trying to prove she's ready to become a Chuunin. While she isn't leading the team, she is being given the opportunity to have input on their plan of action. There are criminal ninja of the Fuuma Clan based in Fuuma Alley that have been identified by border forces. From one of the groups that was taken down, they've managed to learn that multiple such groups are headed to the Land of Tea to take some kind of action against the Fuma Clan.
It's unknown why, how, or what, but it's probably not good. They were going to receive orders when they reached their destination, but given the job was offered by local mafia forces in Tea, it's likely something to do with competing mercenary Clans, rather than just the name similarity. The Fuuma don't want any threat to their power in Fuuma Alley, so a request to do something about the mercenary army that has taken up in Tea was probably a welcome offer.
That's the background, and what intel has indicated. But they don't need to know all the details to do their job. They just need to intercept as many groups of Fuuma as they can and stop them from reaching the Land of Fire docks.
Staking out the docks is one solution, and there are probably ninja assigned to that already. But with three Sharingan users and a Seals specialist, hunting down the enemy before they get close enough is the name of the game. They've already managed to track down one such group and are in pursuit through the woods. It's raining, the leaves are vibrant green, drops impact the ninja from above and when their treetop jumps sending them hurtling through the curtains of water, and the enemy is ahead of them. Four backs in the distance, rapidly coming closer.
There are many ways to handle this, clever strategies and the like, but Suzuha's plan is straightforward this time around. "They're in motion, so they aren't laying traps. Take them down fast. Miyo-san, if you have any seals that can restrict their movement, please apply them so they can't flee. Even something as simple as Chakra-charged paper will let us track them down more easily if they do happen to get away." Then she looks to Hinotori. "Hinotori-kun, if you could create a pair of Shadow Clones and have them throw me and you at the enemy as hard as they can, that should close the distance quickly so we can use Taijutsu take-downs."
Then she looks to her mother. "Okaa-san, hit them before we get there with that jutsu you use so often. If they're immobilized when we arrive, that should help take them out as well."
Suzuha then looks ahead, her Sharingan already active at full strength. "Move when ready."
A 'shock and awe' sort of tactic then, Tsugumi surmises. Or 'blitzkreig'. Her daughter is suggesting they simply hit the criminals hard and fast before they have a chance to react, steamrolling them and conquering them without a drawn-out fight. 'That jutsu' that Tsugumi uses so often is enough for her to know which one Suzuha means. She nods in acknowledgement, and begins forming hand seals, molding Chakra and focusing as she leaps through the branches.
Tiger, Ox, Rabbit, Ram, Boar, Ox, Horse, Monkey, Tiger, Dog, Tiger, Snake, Tiger, Ox, Monkey, Rabbit… Bird! Tsugumi's Sharingan-filled eyes snap open as her torso swells with both Chakra and something else. Mentally, she intones, 'Water Release: Great Waterfall Technique!' Then she spews out a tidal wave ahead of them, rushing forward to try to catch the four figures ahead of them by surprise, throw them around in the watery vortex, slams them into and through trees, and basically leaves them dazed and confused… Perfect for the two Taijutsu users to smash them, and then Miyo to lock them down with her seals so they can't retaliate.
Hopefully this plan will be a success.
Miyo hasn't been on such an exciting venture in quite some time. So, the prospect of chasing down some criminals was definitely appealing to her. She is quite quick, and it works for her in the chase so that she doesn't fall behind.
When Tsugumi begins her assault on the targets, Miyo prepares herself. The Uzumaki begins building up as much chakra as she can, because what she has planned for them wil certainly be a treat. With the water rushing forward to disrupt their retreat, Miyo begins her hand seals.
Even mid-run the Uzumaki has flawless technique, and then a moment later she performs a handspring of the ground, activating the seal. The chakra lances outward towards the targets like vile, dangerous serpents. The Demon Binding Technique always finds its prey and none can escape once it does!
Hinotori didn't mind at all that Suzu was calling the shots for this mission. SHe will be calling much more later when she gets her job, still Hinotori was wathing her as she spoke about her plan. He does commit their mission to memory and as he is given his assisgnment for this job he bows his head. "Yes ma'am." he says giving her a commanding officers nod.
Once in position he brings his hand to his chest forming the 'Clone' sign and two clones appear. Both look to Hino and grins and they both look to Tsugumi and Suzu, a bit of mischivousness in thier eyes, still Hinotori clears his throat, "Alright fellas, we have our orders." he tells them and Hinotori is already waiting, as the other clone moves to Suzu. The Clone before he moves into position creates two more clones, "We will need the added strength to launch you two." he says. "Ready" all his clones and Hinotori said and low tones.
The clones setup and as Miyo and Tsugumi begin their attacks, the clones LAUNCH both Hinotori and Suzu into the air towards their intended targets. As he is launched into the air, Hinotori quickly asesse the situation and where he and Suzu will be landing, seeing his targets, "KONOHA DAISENPU!" he yells as he nears his targets and with a furiously spinning kick Hinotori attacks!
The enemy ninja, of course, hear the roar of a water behind them and turn to look. There's assorted ninja, each wearing a mask with a different monstrous appearance, so it's hard to see what their expressions are when a wall of water, carrying trees, boulders, and everything else in the tidal wave's path, begins tearing towards them. While they try to scatter, the two in the middle, the most directly in the path of the tidal wave, get nailed hard, send spinning around, smashing into things in the environment and in the water with them, spun and spun, and then left washed up up on the forest floor a few thousand feet away.
The other two split and tried to jump in opposite directions to get out of the way, as Suzu suspected might happen. These two suddenly have a pair of Uchiha RIGHT IN THEIR FACES. Hinotori spins around kicking one hard and sending him hurtling into a tree hard enough to splinter it.
Suzuha kicks the other one under the chin to daze him in mid-air, then grabs him by the leg and pulls him into her fist aimed right at his face, only to lock her legs around his other leg as the force of the punch threatens to send him flying away, pulling him down with her towards the ground, and whipping him into it hard. "TIGER BLOW!" she calls out as rock fragments fly up around her from the hole she just put the enemy in.
She rolls up and onto her feet quickly, getting out of the way as Miyo's Chakra lances streak out, seizing the injured ninja and paralyzing them where they lie.
She immediately heads for the two that Tsugumi blasted to drag them back and make sure all of them are in the same place. No escapees. She calls back over her shoulder as she runs, "Okaa-san, please prepare to use Genjutsu to interrogate them. Hinotori-kun, please help me get the other one hit by the Great Waterfall Technique and bring them back. We'll tie them up. Miyo-san, please make sure your seal remains in place. If you can drain their Chakra or something, please do so. Between Genjutsu, physical restraints, and Miyo-san's fuinjutsu, they shouldn't be going anywhere. But I don't know what kind of jutsu the Fuuma use, so we can't be too careful!"
Tsugumi is, despite herself, impressed with the efficiency and brutality of the take down. It was due to their combined abilities that it was successful, but this may have been the better plan of action than trying to close with them. Still, it was a bit of a rash course of action. It worked this time, but with different opponents, a different team composition, or both, it could have gone very differently.
She doesn't wish to take from Suzu's success this time, so she isn't going to say anything right now. And she wants to believe that her daughter would have used a different strategy if the circumstances were different, and the younger kunoichi simply chose the option that was best here. It's what she'll report when she get back, at least.
She nods to Miyo as Hinotori and Suzuha finish with their targets, and move to retrieve the other two, then darts ahead, letting Miyo sustain the seal. When she catches up, she'll start removing the Fuuma ninja masks so she can make eye contact more easily. She isn't sure they'll get any more out of this bunch than other teams have, but one never knows.
"Sorry about how rough we were. But better you than us." she says not-entirely-consolingly to the criminals.
Miyo nods her agreement with Suzu and adds another seal to begin rapidly draining chakra away from the prisoners. "I'd be surprised if anyone could break free from it. And for those that can, we had best be cautious." She advises with a slightly stern tone as she concentrates. "Hopefully they wield yield answers."
Hinotori grimaces a bit, he wasn't fast enough to hit another, but still he hit where he wanted to strike. He's a perfectionist when it comes to taijutsu, let no one tell him otherwise, this is what he does. Surveying the damage done, he smirks a little bit. The frontal assualt worked, which was good, sometimes they did and how Suzu planned this, he was impressed.
Still at the command of getting the other enemy nin who was hit by Tsugumi's technique, he nods his head, "Copy that." he flickers out of sight only to reappear at the enemy nin, grabbing him and dragging him back to the others so that they could be tied up. Hinotori does produce a few zip-ties and zip-tie thier hands and feet togehter to keep them from getting away.
Miyo should probably realize that her seals are starting draining away a large amount of Chakra. Like, larger than might be expected from injured and paralyzed enemies who went down so easily. And there's still more to go. Where they preparing a jutsu before they got snared? Are they stronger than they look? Is there something unusual about them? As a matter of fact, as Tsugumi starts removing their masks, signs of monstrous or demonic or otherwise inhuman facial features become visible.
Are the Fuuma Clan a bunch of monsters!? There had been rumors, of course, of them discovering a Kekkei Genkai that allowed them to perform monstrous transformations. But as more and more Chakra is siphoned away, eventually they run out of the amount they need and start reverting to normal humans.
Meanwhile, Suzu and Hinotori haul the other two back, who really couldn't have been hit by Hinotori given they were busy being carried away on a tidal wave at thetime. They are plopped down, tied up, and prepared for interrogation. Part of the reason Suzu selected such a hard-and-fast plan was because of how much Chakra she saw them possessing. She didn't want to give them a chance to USE any of their abilities. And if their transformations made them that much stronger… Well, it's a good thing they have all the people presently to take their strength away.
Now Suzu stands guard and waits for her mom to do the interrogating.
Tsugumi keeps her face impassive, but inside she's frowning at the appearance of the ninja and their gradual reversion. A very unusual jutsu or more likely a kekkei genkai. She has heard rumors of that, but it's the first time she's actually seen it. She waits until the criminals are restrained, their Chakra drained, and then stands back aways so she can see them all at once. Then her Sharingan flares bright red and she inserts herself into the minds of all four of them at once, digging into their memories, and unearthing what they know.
'Who are you meeting in the Land of Tea? Where? What are your objectives? How many other teams are there?' Questions like that, which can help track down who they're collaborating with.
Miyo squints at the monstrous transformations the Fuuma underwent, but continues draining their Chakra away until they are dry. "That's pretty freaky. Good thing you have me here to seal their abilities away~!" The Uzumaki grins as she shunts all that absorbed Chakra into various seal tags she's carrying, for later use and analysis. They might even learn some things about how this Kekkei Genkai works, or how to counter it in the future.
She leaves a little bit of Chakra so Tsugumi can manipulate it with her Genjutsu to get answers, but otherwise keeps a close eye on the enemy, intent on supporting her friends and allies with all of her considerable fuinjutsu. "Fufufu~. I'll bet they didn't expect such an elite team!"
Hinotori knows that the tidal wave swept in did what it needed to do. Still he has been working on a few things which he sees that he's pushed passed a few things in his training. For now that is put into the background as he surveys the area, delving into peoples mind isn't something he's interested in so as Tsugumi goes about using genjutsu to get their information, he watches the area with Suzu.
The dark skinned Uchiha allows chakra to flow through him as he allows the Sharingan to awaken, automatically they flare up brightly for a moment. Taking in his surroundings. He does take a moment to look at the Fuuma nins and thier monstrous features and he shakes his head. Thinking this would be good information for him to bring back to ANBU, Hinotori makes sure to commit as much of this to his memory, part of him wished they were able to use thir full abilities, another part of him wished they stayed knocked out. Looking to Miyo he smiles a little, "Good thing we do have you hear." he than looks to Tsugumi hoping she is alright. He than looks to Suzu, watching her for a long moment, "Good job." he smiles to her.
In the fog within the minds of the four, Tsugumi's Genjutsu prowess so great that she can interrogate four people at once, the eldest present finds pieces of information, but not much definite. There's a meeting place in mind, but it's at the Land of Fire ferry, not within the Land of Tea itself. It seems they weren't told everything, so they'll have to track down whoever was going to guide them and find out more from THEM.
Suzuha doesn't think there are any others in the area, but she is keeping an eye out as well. Though her focus is more for any sort of trickery on the side of the Fuuma ninja. Hinotori can watch for reinforcements. "I admit, this strategy wouldn't have worked if I didn't have all of you with me." But then, as if verbalizing Tsugumi's thoughts earlier, she says, "But I would have tried following them or something instead if I had a different team composition. I'm not sure what the Fuuma are doing in the Land of Tea, but the… Other-Fuma getting into some kind of Clan war with a bunch of criminals who can turn into demons is bad news. The sooner we stop it the better."
She looks around to everyone. Tsugumi, Hinotori, Miyo, each made this possible. Without a single one of them, it might have turned out very differently. "Thank you."
So at the end of the day, they still have to head for the docks. But now they know where the meeting place is, and they conveniently have four identities and outfits to wear to the meeting, and even an idea of what their transformed appearances look like if they need to fake such somehow.
Tsugumi withdraws from their minds, though she is aware of Miyo, Hinotori, and Suzuha's words the entire time. "You're welcome, sweetie. But I think you'd have found a different way as well if you had to. You've grown a lot, no matter how much more you have to grow. Be proud of your progress, but continue to remember that you can't do everything on your own. You can only do what YOU are able to do." She turns and smiles at her daughter, then gets back to business as she looks Miyo in the eye and nods to indicate she can finish draining these enemy ninja until they have no Chakra left to use. If they die from it, Tsugumi would not be terribly bothered, but as long as their Stamina remains, they should live.
"Hinotori-san, let's head for the nearest outpost for the forest patrol. You should know where all the patrol routes are, right?" Because he's ANBU. "We'll find one along the way and turn these ones over. With the memories I scanned, we should be able to convincingly fake being them and infiltrate their meeting spot. We'll find out more about what's going on at the Land of Fire Ferry."
Hinotori looks over to Suzu, he nods slowly as he takes in her words. Once she finishes he stretches a bit. "Every mission will have ways of looking at it and seeing how you will handle each one. Again you did well." he grins at her. He is proud of his girlfriend, she is gorinw well into her skills and as Tsugumi congratualtes her daugher, he watches the motehr and daugher duo. HIno is still looking for reinforcements, but if they have't come yet, they may ont.
Looking to Tsugumi, he nods his head, he thinks for a moment, "Yeah." he smiles to her. "Shouldn't take us long to find a patrol or two and drop these assholes off, if they live." he says non-chalantly about if the Fuumas would live or die. He could care less honestly. HInotori does look at the Fuuma and if there is any other thing else of note to see, he will memorize it. "Alright, lets go." he smiles to Tsugumi. With that, he takes off, "You better keep up!"
The mission is interdiction. Two Jounin, a powerful Uzumaki ally of Konohagakure, and a Genin trying to prove she's ready to become a Chuunin.
"Shouldn't take us long to find a patrol or two and drop these **** off, if they live." he says non-chalantly about if the Fuumas would live or die. He could care less honestly. HInotori does look at the Fuuma and if there is any other thing else of note to see, he will memorize it. "Alright, lets go." he smiles to Tsugumi. With that, he takes off, "You better keep up!"
