Two Shimizu boys meet for the first time

"Itoko"

Genin Proving Grounds, Kiri

Kiji is in the genin testing grounds, his long black hair hanging loose while the two blue braids fram his face. From behind he might be mistaken for a girl. His white tunic is sleeveless today rather than his more formal mandarin collared top. His eyes are like pearls at the moment as he crouches. He bears no weapons as he streaches out his arms then turns toward a makeshift target he'd set up for himself and focuses his chakra, pulling it forward until he could feel it run through his very veins. Suddenly he fists his right hand and slams it against his left forearm at the wrist and jerks his hand down. The sharp ring he wears cuts through the skin, easily marking a crimson trail down his wrist. He wasn't using as much blood as he had on the mission as this was just practice… On command the blood leaves his arm, comming up to float in a kind of small mist int he air before forming into tiny needles. With a shout Kiji directs the needles at the makeshift target, his eyes shifting into a more orange shade visibly. The attack hits a wide area but does little direct damage…. for now.

Kiji wouldn't be the only Shimizu in the genin training grounds, however he probably was the only one currently training. Terumi was there as well and he was probably the only other genin who wasn't either disgusted or awed by Kiji's demonstration. But his eyes soon returned to the ground and he began to search and sift about for something. His hair was down which was unusual for Terumi on account of how he hated when it got in his face.
His search was leading him closer and closer towards Kiji until finally Terumi had to announce himself. "Excuse me?" he called out. His hand moved to brush his raven tresses from his vision. "Could you just, um pause, for a second?" Terumi made a T for time out gesture with his hands. "Just need to check the area for something. Won't take long."

Kiji was vaguely aware of those around him. One in particular kept getting closer and closer…. The kid finally spoke to him, asking him to pause a moment. Kiji looked the boy up and down, his orange eyes shifting into a blatant purple. It wasn't hard to see that the kid was searching the ground for something. Kiji put his ringed hand on his hip, letting the still bleeding arm hang loosely at his side. He was used to people being disgusted or fearful of the blood release… but this kid didnt seem to care. He smiles brightly, purple eyes practically glowing with curiosity. "What'd ya lose?"

"Thanks." Terumi nodded once Kiji stopped and continued to look about. Since Kiji was being nice about all this Terumi didn't give him the silent treatment. "A jade hair pin." he answered. "It should really stick out…ah." he finds it not to far from the target Kiji created. He picks it up and cleans it off with a cloth pulled form his pocket. "Sorry about that." After Terumi cleaned it off he worked his way towards Kiji. His hands were at work fashioning his hair into the bun style he normally wears it in. "It's not mine. I'm just barrowing it so it would've been bad had I've lost it." Terumi glances down to Kiji's bleeding arm. "I owe you one. I'm Shimizu Terumi. Thought I was the only Shimizu graduate this year. Guess not."

Kiji watches the boy search around until he gets to the target and finds the pin. Kiji was wella ware the issues hair could cause in a fight and usually he'd have his hair up in a ponytail… "My hairband snapped about 20 minutes ago." He'd been going through basic drills with imaginary kunai at that point, though. Kiji seems to pay no mind to his bleeding arm. When Terumi has his hair done up the way he likes it and introduces himself Kiji's eyes practically glow with a bright purple. "Shimizu Kiji… And I didn't graduate this year. I graduated two years ago so that's why you didn't know me. I was trained by the man who gave his DNA to the Okumo the last two years." He seems to study the younger boy curiously. "So you're what a true Shimizu looks like hmm?"

"Oh well that would explain it. I was thinking it was kind of odd for a Shimizu to be so open with their abilities." Terumi responded. He tapped at his forearm trying to remind Kiji about his own. "I guess? Not sure what you mean by true Shimizu. But I wouldn't go so far to say that I'm a prime example." Terumi went on to add. Terumi tucks his cloth in to his pocket and soon moves to his pouch to retrieve a white hair tie. "Here you can have this. I was going to use it incase I couldn't find the pin. It'll make us even." Terumi offered the tie to Kiji.

Kiji tilted his headat Terumi's speech and blinks as he's offered a hair tie. But the boy smiles and takes it with a bob of his head. He doesn't take the time to hide his wrist or wipe the blood away, he still had plans for it assuming this conversation was about to end (not that he wanted to end it). He pulls his free black hair up into a long ponytail with the white hair tie then in an easy motion, smoothing the hair as he wraps the tie around it. "Thanks, Terumi-kun. And by 'true Shimizu' I meant not a clone…er.. You're not a clone are you?"

"Clone?" Terumi repeated and looked Kiji up and down. "No. I'm not a clone." A frown came to Terumi's face, a slight frown but a frown nonetheless. "So you're a bonafide clone. Replica of a Shimizu down to the core?" Terumi's hands move to rest on his hips. "Not a bad job. You look like any other Shimizu. Except your eyes." Terumi raised to finger towards Kiji's eyes. "Maybe it was the angle or light but I don't remember them being purple when I first saw you." Terumi shrugged. "So did they make you because they wanted a Shimizu they didn't have to worry about for once?"

Kiji nods in the affirmative. He's definitely a clone. When the boy mentions his eyes and thier changing color Kiji chuckles. "They made my eyes special…." He looks up to the sky for a moment, focusing himself on the conversation and not on the imaginary battle he'd been fighting and when he looks down at Terumi again his eyes are no longer purple but a bright blue. "I exist for Meruin-dono. That's all. I was made for him and I might die for him." And yet he seems perfectly happy with these possibilities.

A look of discontent briefly swept over Terumi's expression. He looks back to the makeshift target. "For Meruin, the newly appointed Mizukage…" Terumi looked back to Kiji. "Sorry I'm holding up your…whatever you were doing. I guess honing your skills for…Meruin-dono." Terumi's expression lightened. "Well I'm a mist shinobi too so I guess I exist to serve Mer-the Mizukage too. You want some help? I'm not expert on our Blood Release but I've been around my….our kind longer than you. I could provide some assistance. If you want it that is."

Kiji spotted the discontent on the other Shimizu's face and for a moment he wondered what had bothered the other boy. That thought is quickly ignored as Terumi brightens and speaks again. Kiji smiles brightly in return. "Sure. I welcome any chance to get better. The bleeding on his wrist has stopped by now, overtaken by the regeneration that hallmarks the Shimizu line. He had several fading scars on the same wrist and a long line down his forearm that — by Shimizu standards — would have been pretty fresh.

Terumi nodded. "Well for starters our bodies produce blood at an alarming rate. Pretty hard for us to bleed out so when you use an attack like that…" Terumi turns around to look at the damage done to the target. "It'd be more effect with more blood. Instead of cutting yourself you can just exhale it." Terumi performs the modified tiger handseal. He then inhales and breathes out a mist of scarlet. Terumi folds his arms "I'll admit I can't perform that attack you did but this should get the point across." As the red mist fades Terumi faces Kiji again. "You're probably going to be on the aggressive side of Blood Release arts. So it might be best if we spar to get the concept across."

Kiji watched the boy expel blood through his lungs into the air in a fine mist and he narrows his blue eyes as he contemplates the technique. It seemed simple enough but could he keep enough blood available for his attack by exhaling that hard? She could try it, he supposed…. So, sopying the odd tiger seal the boy had used, Kiji gathers his chakra and tries to exhale blood derived from his lungs… At first it seemed to work, a small mist comming from his mouth. But then he chokes, coughing harshly with one hand over his mouth. The blood was there, but it had not formed a mist as Terumi's had. He'd not been trained in the Crimson Mist Technique at all because of the nature of his 'birth' and growth so of course he couldn't control it on his first try. Comming up with the blood on his hand and in his mouth he turns his head and spits it out toward a drain. A small bit of the blood was still on his lip and of course his hand. His eyes are tinged with a hint of dark orange now…

"Not bad." Terumi states. "More chakra. Helps the process go a little smoother. Also you can maintain the mist if you do so. Use it as a base for other skills….like that blood rain thing you did." Terumi then grimaces at the sight of blood lingering on the Kiji's hand and lips. He'd had about as much as he could stand. "Ok granted you're a clone but you're still a Shimizu." Terumi whips out another white cloth from his pouch. He then moves to clear the blood from Kiji's lips. "Try not to be so sloppy with our gift." Terumi forces a smile but if quickly dissipates as he tucks the white cloth away. "Honestly, why do I feel like the older one here?"

An expression of complete confusion comes across Kiji's face then as the younger boy seems irritated and wipes the blood from his lip. His eyes shade to an amethyst purple before deepening to almost a royal tone. What ws this feeling? He'd never been chastised for what could only fall under ettiquette or possibly lack of pride before and still that chastisement was followed by a kindness and a smile. The 'older' boy stares at Terumi for a long moment before he finally is able to push the thoughts aside for now. He could re-examine them in private. "Maybe I should only try practicing that in private for now then, if it bothers you so much." His tone wasn't rude, he was offering a simple solution to the apparent issue. For some reason he felt like this was a new standard that he had to reach and rise above, yet another odd sensation for him. "I have much better control over it when i open a vein. And… I was using less in practice, that's all. I was cutting down trees with it yesterday." A slight exaggeration.. he'd cut down branches not trees, but still… He had an odd desire to please that had bled over to include this boy. "What does your bloody mist do anyway?"

"It does. And you should. As it stands now I'd be embarrassed to say I know you." Terumi clarifies harshly. "I don't really mind how you get the blood going." Terumi gestures towards Kiji's ring. "That's fine and well. But clean up. Not only is it unsightly but blood leaves a trail, in more ways than one." Terumi begins pacing back and forth while he chastises Kiji. "But more importantly it's UNSIGHTLY. Like having food stuck in your teeth, or having something in your hair, just….just…" Terumi stops exhales and pinches the bridge of his nose. "Why am I lecturing you?" a rhetorical question. "My mist?"
"It hides me of course. And showers my blood within the immediate area so I can use it to escape or whatever. It's even effective against those with special eyes." Terumi explained pointing at Kiji "If ya know what I mean." Terumi's accusing finger is then adjusted downward towards Kiji's blood hands. He gives him a look that was demanding before sighing. "I don't like fighting. I leave that to the other brutes that walk this village." Terumi added. "But that's just me. You do whatever you want. So long as you don't look like a slob when doing so."

Kiji tilted his head as the younger boy lectured him imperiously. He knew it was probably supposed to be chastising but he couldn't help feeling a bit of enjoyment at the sight of a 12 year old apparently lecturing a 16 year old. The red evaporates from his eyes and leaves only the purple behind. So the mist helped him to hide hmm? That was interesting. Kiji thought a moment before he steps back a pace. "All shinobi must fight. And you learned at the academy how to do so just like I did. You suggested a spar. Are you still up for it?"

"Yes I am aware of that." Terumi remarked sharply. He normally wouldn't get so dramatic around a stranger such as Kiji. Terumi began to notice though a resemblance, albeit faint. "Never said I couldn't fight." Terumi walks towards Kiji's makeshift target and kicks it as though he were examining it. "Right a spar." he grumbled. 'I was just trying to be helpful. Never thought he'd actually take me up on it.' he thought. "Sure if you're ready." He turned to face Kiji. The resemblance was getting stronger. Terumi's stare was broken by a lengthy blink. 'Let's see what an imitation can do.' he thought.

Kiji saw that he was getting under Terumi's skin somehow, though he wasn't sure exactly what had goaded the boy. But when Terumi kicks his makeshift target Kiji has to keep a chuckle in by biting the inside of his cheek. Orange starts oozing into his eye color again as he feels the adrenaline rush of a spar comming on. He was curious if there would be a large difference between them physically. He concentrates and pulls Chakra upfor him to use and shifts into a loose stance, presenting only his left side toward Terumi, wondering what the other boy would begin with….

"You're eyes are changing again. Is that a good sign?" Terumi asked seeing Kiji take a stance. Terumi on the other hand just leaned against the makeshift target and performed one hand seal to gather chakra. "Well I'm not throwing the first punch. So it's up to you." Terumi stated. A pacifist or a naive genin? Either way Terumi didn't move a muscle while he and Kiji sized up to each other from a distance.

COMBAT: It is now Kiji's turn.

Kiji smirked lightly as the boy hung back. That hesitation to make the first move could work against him easily. But Kiji didn't mind so much taking the first swing. As Terumi had said, he was more agressive. He would work hard to improve himself so he could be of use to Meruin-dono. The orange solidifies in his eyes and he moves forward, throwing two punches experimentally, a simple right-left combo aimed at Terumi's solar plexis.

Terumi blinks as Kiji comes in with a physical strike. "Throwing the first punch was simply an expression you know-" Before Terumi could switch out with the makeshift target one of Kiji's punches found its mark. The second would appear to have connected but after a sudden convulsion of smoke it was obvious it hadn't. Terumi took the opportunity to flank Kiji and attack his lower back with two kicks.

Kiji felt the first strike land and the second was dodged by a replacement technique. Not bad, he thought to himself. But he doesn't have long to think as Terumi comes at him with two kicks at his back. He was able to bring up the first replacement easily enough and so he had moved, turned to face his opponent and tried to get the second up…. And felt Terumi's foot land a hit on his hip. It would bruise, of course, but it wouldn't last long on a Shimizu…. Kiji drew a kunai then, upping the level of the duel. Even now with is eyes orange and his blood pumping he appeared to be enjoying himself, like this wasn't a mimicry of the dance for death. He leapt forward and slashed twice at Terumi, aiming for his chest area both times, knowing he was dealing with a blood wielder…

Terumi awaited Kiji's next attack after their brief exchange. So far they seemed evenly matched. When Kiji armed himself with kunai Terumi winced. Being a blood wielder he knew that cuts were little to worry about but still, they hurt. Terumi tried to back away from Kiji's first attack but to no avail. He suffered a cut across his chest. The second strike however he successfully evaded and had already begun his counter attack. His knee rose up as did he in the hopes of striking Kiji's chin. Most shinobi skills are about deception though. The soaring knee was a front which was soon followed by a kick spinning and aimed for Kiji's ribs.

Kiji spotted the wince immediately. So the boy didn't like fighting with Kunai perhaps? Or maybe he didn't like sharp things in general. The latter seemed more fitting as the boy had frowned at Kiji's method of drawing his own blood. Either way there was something there that might possibly create an opening. Kiji easily avoided the first attack to his chin, only to feel the hit land on his ribs. He smirked, just another bruise. But he spun in place nonetheless, comming out with another slash with his kunai, aiming for just below the first cut on Terumi's chest, using his momentum to swing around and kick out right at the solar plexis, aiming to toss the kid back a ways as well as land a hit. Though he'd be jsut as happy with a second cut below the first, two parallell cuts are harder to stitch, even if this one /was/ a Shimizu. "Want me to 'rain' down on you now too, cousin?"

Terumi ignored the cut on his chest for now, the tear in his vest which was more upsetting to him, to deal with Kiji's pressing assault. He evaded the kunai not wanting to endure more damage to his vest, or chest. Terumi then could see Kiji's kick coming and stepped in to block the kick at it's nadir. After that he was left close enough with an opening to take, so he did such. Terumi launched two punches both aimed for Kiji's sternum. Cuts and surface wounds are easy to heal for a Shimizu. Internal injury, bruises and such….well that is a bit tougher for beginners. "Cousin?"

Both of Terumi's punches would seem to have landed… only to find a puff of smoke left behind. Kiji had used the time to put distance between them. So he was able to stand up and shrug when Terumi asks his question. "I'm biologically Shimizu Sora, most likely one of your cousins." He smiled brightly, twirling the kunai around his finger as though he were on a break rather than in the middle of a spar.

The replacement technique again, just when he thought he found an opening. This thing…is relating itself to me? Terumi thought at first. "Shimizu Sora?" Terumi repeated. Terumi smirked and chuckled softly as if the idea didn't bother him. "Cousin. Right." Terumi held his tongue but his mild contempt showed when he armed himself with senbon. Clasping three in each hand betwixt his fingers Terumi started towards Kiji. "Weren't you going to make it rain?" Terumi flung one volley of senbon at Kiji. "Let me help you, cousin."

Kiji smirked as Terumi started to bring out his own 'toys'. So, he liked senbon… That just made Kiji think of his own special senbon. The boy 'offered' to help Kiji out by his attacks. The first set of senbon hit another replacement but Kiji brought his arm up specifically to allow the senbon to strike him there. With a grin he gathers the senbon in one hand and yanks them free of his flesh. He showed very little notice of the pain. "Why thank you /cousin/. I'll show you as you wish." He threw Terumi's senbon right back at him, taking that time to gather up the blood from the needles' attack. It formed into a kind of mist along his arm before he waves his hand at Terumi's general direction, letting loose a larger amount of blood than he had used for practice. Though it was less than he'd used on the branches yesterday, it was more than Terumi had seen him use.

Terumi deflected the senbon thrown back at him with relative ease. "So he took the attack. Imitation or not he fights like one of us." Terumi still didn't like it though. A replica walking around with the Shimizu name and ability. Even more so it bore a striking resemblance to someone Terumi knew all too well. While in thought Terumi seemed to have lost focus, even though it was for just a second. With the mist already heading his way Terumi tried throw it off with a clone but the radius was larger than before. The needles rained down on him giving him a much unwanted bloody shower. At the end of it though, Terumi was covered in blood, and not just his own. Beyond that however he appeared to be fine. "I'm covered in filth." Terumi sighed. He dropped his senbon and shuddered. "I'm done. This is just gross." Terumi's wounds began to close up. Cut fading as though they never existed. But he was still covered in Kiji's blood.

Kiji smirked a little as Terumi commented about being covered in filth. "That's an odd way for someone like us to think… Maybe you should be more concerned with what happens now…." He had tried this in battle and had managed it against a monkey… But this time he wasn't aiming to honestly do any harm. He still had control over the blood on Terumi's body — his own and any that mixed with Terumi's blood as well. So he focused his chakra and suddenly tiny pinpricks could be felt along any part of Terumi's skin that had blood on it. Suddenly the blood spiked visibly into tiny little senbon no bigger than sewing needles and not enough depth to draw further blood. It was a lesson, a warning perhaps…. And for the first time since meeting Terumi, Kiji held a very serious expression on his face and his eyes were a very deep orange, almost brown. He wasn't kidding around, but he /was/ showing that he was /very/ good at controlling chakra….

"I don't wanna hear that from someone like you." Terumi remarked dryly. He was more annoyed that he was covered in blood though and wanted to 'sanitize' himself as quickly as possible. Terumi had already started going for his cloths to at least hold him over until he could get to the cold springs. That's when he noticed Kiji's blood was moving on it's own and shaping into more needle-like points. Terumi peered back at the elder Shimizu clone with a dull expression. "That quite the look you got there, cousin. Too bad it's not yours." he voiced unnerved by the demonstration. After all their blood had mixed, so it would work both ways now. "If you want…we can continue. I hate fighting. But I don't mind reducing a clone back to a bloody pulp." Unlike Kiji's expression Terumi's was void of harmful intent. He said it in the same manner one reveals their name or says 'hello'. No thought to it just second nature.

Kiji showed no reaction to the boy's words, but his eyes shifted back to a lighter orange at least and he put a smile on his face, allowing his chakra to settle down. "If you could have attacked me like this you would have. But I have to say you're pretty good at aiming your kicks." He pats his ribs where the bruise would probably be. Since he could see nor sense any harmful intent and Terumi was showing no major spikes in chakra like he might before an attack, Kiji allowed himself to relax just a bit. "This was much more enlightening than solo practice. So, Thanks, /Cousin/."

"Let's hope I can get smell out too." he cursed to himself.
