Mushi and her animal companions take on the crooked Houfu nobility.
"Squirrelly Crisis - Up-Pill Battle"
Houfu Estate [Land of Water]
LAST TIME, ON DIGIMOCHARMING COMBAT MEDIC MUSHI!
"Proving they're criminals probably won't be easy."
"We just need to sneak in and grab one person."
"Wait, did you say 'fight'?"
"We will punish the Houfu thoroughly and non-lethally!"
TODAY'S EPISODE: AN UP-PILL BATTLE!
So yeah, Mushi and a couple of summon-type animals were just heading through the tunnel in the thick outer wall of the Houfu estate, going straight to the main gate. The guards on duty seem trained, but careless, leaning against the tunnel sides with their weapons lying on the ground nearby. They straighten up a bit when they see unfamiliar faces (two of them very much so), picking up their spears and pointing them aggressively. "Halt! What's your business with the Houfu clan?" one of them barks gruffly.
Supaaki, the lightning-happy ninja squirrel, shakes a fist from Mushi's shoulder. "Stand aside, dogs of the Houfu, or you too shall feel the wrath your masters have brought on themselves!" Hachimitsu, the self-styled deviant young badger, smirks and cracks his knuckles. "Hate to admit it, but I'm with poofy-tail on this one. Tell me we don't gotta sit through the talking bit on this, huh?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Could I convince you to try out my experimental combat system in this scene? n.n It's actually pretty simple, and I can walk you through things as we go along."
«OOC» Mushi says, "Sure."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay. For starters, you're a +10 Ninja in this system (because all your stats are maxed out). That means your base roll for pretty much any action is +roll 1d15. You get to do that before deciding what exactly you're going to do."
RP: Mushi rolled a 10 with 1d15 die.
«OOC» Mushi says, "So…what does that mean?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "It means you've got a pretty good chance of succeeding at what you do next."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay. Now, are you going to try and talk your way through here, or just push past?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Put 'em to sleep."
«OOC» Aburei says, "All right. What sort of technique do you use for that?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Sleeping Pill."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Hmm…that falls under your Medic Nin style, right?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Yup."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay. +roll 1d14."
RP: Mushi rolled a 7 with 1d14 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Now +roll 1d3 as a penalty for attacking an extra target."
RP: Mushi rolled a 3 with 1d3 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "10 + 7 - 3 = 14. Now each of the +3 Guards have to defend themselves from that."
«OOC» Aburei says, "The base roll for them is 1d8."
RP: Aburei rolled a 6 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Mushi says, "They can't even get as high as 14. XD"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Oh I see. Next is 1d7?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "And they have D-rank Spear Combat, which gives them a 1d2."
RP: Aburei rolled a 2 with 1d2 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Pointless to actually do this I know, just demonstrating. X)"
«OOC» Aburei says, "So, yeah, they can't possibly beat your roll, and since you used a C-rank technique, they both take 3 damage, bringing them down to +0 Guard. They get conked out easily."
«OOC» Aburei says, "You can go ahead and pose now, and even spoof the guards getting conked out if you like."
Mushi goes in with a mind to trick the guards. Perhaps they can say they're making a special delivery. She has her pack after all, she could even say she's here to deliver some medical supplies. That all ends when the creatures jump forward to expression their battle intent. Mushi has to smile ruefully. While they're declaring all their intentions, Mushi pops a pill in her mouth. Maybe for a headache? She bites down, inhales, and then exhales. When she does a thin stream of white dust blows from her mouth, then expands as it gets closer to the guards. Not much room to move around in the tunnel and they quickly get knocked unconscious.
Then Mushi says, "Time for a disguise." It only takes her half a minute to carry them both outside and tie them to a tree. Gags them. Then strip them down to their boxers. She'd go off for a bit of privacy and then come back dressed in clothes several sizes too big for her. But then Mushi would make a seal and POOF she's one of the guards. "This'll give us the element of surprise," she smirks. Then she'd direct the squirrels to lead the way.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, I'm going to do rolls for the animals trying to remain unnoticed once we're inside. Supaaki's a +6 Ninja Squirrel, so his base roll is 1d11."
RP: Aburei rolled a 9 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "…I forgot I should set a goal for them first. X) Let's say 7 for now, that'll be tricky for Hachimitsu because he's only a +4 Badger (base roll 1d9) and he hasn't got any skills that would lend themselves to stealth."
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d9 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Oh, Hachimitsu bombs it. X)"
«OOC» Mushi snickers.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, a +4 Pack of Hounds shows up and attacks Hachimitsu with their D-rank Pack Hunting skills:"
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d9 die.
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d2 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Aaaand Hachimitsu can't possibly fail to defend himself, but here are his rolls as a +4 Badger with C-rank Beast Brawl. X)"
RP: Aburei rolled a 9 with 1d9 die.
RP: Aburei rolled a 2 with 1d4 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Now he gets to attack back…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 2 with 1d9 die.
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d4 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "And the dogs defend…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 7 with 1d9 die.
RP: Aburei rolled a 4 with 1d4 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Nobody takes any damage."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Oh, that last one should've been 1d2, but oh well."
Hachimitsu's face falls at the same time the guards do. "What, that easy? Laaaaame. I hope somebody in this stinkin' castle puts up more of a fight." :P When Mushi drags the guards out and appropriates their armor, Hachimitsu snickers. "Oh, we're trying the sneaky route after all, huh? Not that I care. Just cracking skulls is more fun, that's all." Hachimitsu tries on a guard's helmet. "…They're not going to be fooled by that, you know," says Supaaki, watching quizzically. "Oh yeah? Says you! They might think I'm a specially-trained man-hunting beast!" "Even if they had things like that, they wouldn't give them helmets, would they?" "Sure, gotta protect the investment they made in training me, don't they? Trust me, I'll blend in better if I got somethin' of theirs, instead of just being a random badger dude following a guard around." "Suit yourself, but I think you'd better try and hide if somebody comes along."
Inside the courtyard, the castle is fairly typical for minor nobility. There are garden decorations here and there, a little pond, a bamboo thicket, and so on. The main house lies across the way, and nobody's in the immediate vicinity at the moment. Supaaki immediately scampers over to the nearest tree, both to make himself less visible if somebody does show up and to get a vantage point for scanning around. "Things seem fairly quiet," he calls down. "Most of them are probably inside right now, digesting after stuffing their faces with all sorts of fatty meats and juicy fruits and —"
*PFFFFBBBT!*
A pungent odor arises from Hachimitsu's vicinity. He crosses his arms defensively and glares away. "What, it's not my fault! He reminded me of that vole steak I had for lunch!" >.<;
The gastronomical slip turns out to be more than a mere social faux pax, as a number of hounds come barking out from the various corners of the estate, converging on Hachimitsu with the eagerness of pups cornering a strange new prey. >8D "Hey, whoa! Down, Fidos!" o.O; Hachimitsu manages to avoid the initial snaps of the first few arriving dogs quite elegantly for a badger, but he fails to cuff any of them with his blunted claws. Meanwhile, with the dogs causing such a ruckus, more guards are not far behind! A sizable squad of spearmen, much like the ones from before, come running out onto the lawn to find out what the disturbance is.
«OOC» Mushi says, "Ahh!!!"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Long. ;)"
«OOC» Aburei says, "The Guard Squad in this case can be treated as a single entity, a +6 Squad with C-rank Spear Combat capabilities. If you want them to think you're one of them, you'll have to roll for fooling them. Whatever you want to do, start with +roll 1d15 for your base."
«OOC» Mushi says, "I kind of forget—our mission was to wipe the lot of them out, or…?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Ultimately we're looking for the pills which were supposed to heal an epidemic in a nearby town."
«OOC» Aburei says, "I'll probably want to pause once your pose is done, BTW. X)"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Mmkay. Should I roll before or after my pose btw?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "And am I countering the dogs and guards in those pose, or just the dogs?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Before."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Nobody's attacking you at the moment, but you can 'defend' against being recognized as an enemy if you prefer."
RP: Mushi rolled a 10 with 1d15 die.
RP: Mushi rolled a 8 with 1d14 die.
RP: Mushi rolled a 2 with 1d3 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "'Course, about the only result of that would be Hachimitsu faces the full brunt of the enemy attacks. X)"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Aww Mushi could react before they reach him. :P"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, what sort of action were you going for there? Stealth, attack, or…?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Attack. Earth Whirlpool. Pictures dogs up to their neck in the ground."
«OOC» Aburei says, "All right. What's the highest rank of move that you have in earth manip?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Only B. =/"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, then your earth moves start at 1d6. If you're using a C-rank move, that increases it by 4 (1d10) and ups the damage potential from 1 to 3. It also uses 1 chakra, though you don't have to worry about that too much. You don't need the 1d3 penalty for multiple targets because the dog pack is being treated as a single entity."
«OOC» Aburei says, "All that is to say only that first roll which got you 10 counted, and I need a +roll 1d10."
RP: Mushi rolled a 5 with 1d10 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, total of 15."
«OOC» Aburei says, "No way the dogs can possibly match that, so they take 3 damage, making them a +1 Pack now. Just a couple of them still bouncing around barking at Hachimitsu."
«OOC» Mushi pictures dogs bouncing around like bouncy balls. :)
Mushi grimaces when the dogs respond to Hachimitsu's slip. She would have liked to sneak in. At the same time, there is some merit to beating everyone up who crosses her path. It'd be good if they not only found the pills, but humiliated this organization, after all they had done. She watches as the hounds close in, and then makes a few quick seals. Around and under them the ground would rapidly start to cave in. Not only that, the depression would swirl around at high speeds, making it hard for them to keep their footing. And on top of that, the once-calm forest floor would now act like quicksand sucking them in…up to their necks. Don't want to drown the poor dogs, but they'd have a hard time of getting out of hardened earth. Mushi says, "These dogs do what they're trained to do. We can't hold them responsible for their morality." She smirks at her companions. "Like you guys," she says, just a bit fondly.
«OOC» Mushi says, "When she says 'like you guys' she means 'we can hold ya responsible for your morality.'"
«OOC» Aburei /was/ sort of wondering which way that goes. X)
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, remaining dogs attack Hachimitsu again…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 6 with 1d6 die.
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d2 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Hachimitsu defends…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 5 with 1d9 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "E-rank defense with Beast Brawl…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 4 with 1d4 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Success! And he goes to clobber them…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 9 with 1d9 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "…with another E-rank…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 2 with 1d4 die.
«OOC» Mushi says, "Cool. :D"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Deadlier than Pachirisu."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Which they can't defend against even if they 'used chakra'. Dogs are down!"
«OOC» Mushi says, "hehe"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Don't speak too soon, it's Pachi—er, Supaaki's turn. ;)"
RP: Aburei rolled a 11 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Wow, maximum base roll. :D Supaaki spends 2 chakra to send a B-rank Lightning technique at the guard squad!"
RP: Aburei rolled a 4 with 1d12 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "15 total. Guards defend…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 11 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Mushi says, "Yikes!"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Deadly."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Whoa, not so bad themselves. o.o Normally they'd roll 1d4 for their C-rank Spear Combat, but since they've got a really big attack headed their way, they'll use 2 chakra to double their roll range /twice, putting them at 1d16 for the style roll."
RP: Aburei rolled a 11 with 1d16 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Guards survive, and attack Mushi…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "…with an E-rank move. X)"
RP: Aburei rolled a 3 with 1d4 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "You can do a 1d15 for your base roll if you want to let me know how this turns out, but I'm pretty sure you'll be okay. X)"
RP: Mushi rolled a 2 with 1d15 die.
«OOC» Mushi DIES.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Heh. X) You've still got your style roll. Choose a move. I recommend something E-rank so as not to waste chakra, but it can be any style you like."
«OOC» Mushi says, "Style? Earth manipulation probably."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Then you roll 1d6, as your mastery of Earth Manip only goes up to C-rank."
«OOC» Mushi says, "Wait…it goes up to B-rank."
RP: Mushi rolled a 1 with 1d6 die.
«OOC» Mushi DIES!
«OOC» Aburei says, "Ah, right, sorry, misread my notes. But yeah, 1d6 for B-rank."
«OOC» Mushi says, "Do I die?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "So you actually took a scratch. :o You are now a +9 Ninja and your base roll is 1d14."
«OOC» Aburei says, "In case you want to know for starting to write your pose, the guards planted their spears to conduct the lightning attack from Supaaki into the ground. Then they charged Mushi, but some of them forgot to pull their spears out first and they all tripped over each other. But one of their spears got semi-thrown/dropped haphazardly in Mushi's direction."
«OOC» Mushi says, "So was that roll my defense or my attempt to attack?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "You could also roll for your attack so you know how that goes. +roll 1d14 for the base, then we'll figure out what action to take with it."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Your defense."
RP: Mushi rolled a 11 with 1d14 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Pretty good. Your chakra is currently at 5, which is at the tippy-top of tension level 1. That means all attacks cost 1 chakra less than they would ordinarily. If you save up to 6, attacks will cost 2 less than normal. On the other hand, that base roll makes this a good time to spend a little on knocking the enemy for a loop. X)"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Your best style, aside from Bijuu Mastery which I assume you'd rather avoid showing here, is Medical Ninjutsu at S-rank (1d10 at lowest). Then there's Seal Mastery at A-rank (1d8), and Chakra Taijutsu and Earth Manipulation at B-rank (1d6)."
«OOC» Aburei says, "You can use moves up to the maximum of a rank, and every point of chakra you spend adds 2 to the roll range and 1 to the damage dealt if you succeed. D-ranks are free since you're at tension level 1, C-ranks are 1 chakra, etc."
«OOC» Aburei says, "That's about all you need to digest for the moment. X) So it's a question of, give them a big slap now, or save up for tension level 2? You get 1 chakra at the end of every round."
«OOC» Mushi says, "Slap."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay. Then I recommend doing something B-rank or above in Medical Ninjutsu."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Doesn't have to be an actual move you already have, you can make stuff up on the fly."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Oh, I should mention these guys aren't the biggest threat you'll face here. ;)"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Is it your pose?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Yes, and I'm working on it, but you can go ahead and decide on your attack if you like."
A chorus of yelps followed by whines rings out as the majority of the dog pack is sucked under and ensconced in packed dirt. ;.; The couple of remaining dogs who were outside the circle of sinking earth, having no concept of learning from their fellows' misfortune, bound in to bite at Hachimitsu again. Hachimitsu snorts at Mushi's speech about not holding dumb animals responsible, grabbing one of the mutts by the throat and backhanding the other in the jaw. "I sure can," he snarls, swinging his captive around to dogpile (*RIMSHOT*) the other canine. "That's right, beat it, ya sorry curs!" he yells, shaking a fist at the hounds as they run off with their tails between their legs. "Next time I'll make ya dig a hole and then BURY ya in it!" >.<
The guards, meanwhile, have figured out pretty easily that the guy making handseals and incapacitating the guard dogs, despite wearing their armor, is probably not one of them. "Death to the intruders!" shouts the squad captain. As the squad starts to move in on Mushi, though, a white blur launches from the tree nearby. "TREETOPSAN'TIMBEEEEEER!!!" Supaaki unleashes a very impressive blast of lightning from above down toward the guards.
"FORMATION L!"
Much to Supaaki's consternation, the guards move just as impressively as he did, quickly jabbing the butts of their spears into the ground and crouching low. The lightning is absorbed by the metal rods and conducted safely into the earth. The guard captain sneers at Supaaki. "So, finally came out of hiding, eh rat!? All that training the master made us do paid off after all!" The captain points at the imposter guard. "He's probably the biggest threat, take him down first!" The guards shout and surge forward again — and crash into a pile. x.x It seems with all their training to counteract lightning attacks, they didn't train much for going into a physical assault immediately afterward, and forgot to pull their spears out of the ground before charging. One spear does slip from its wielder's hands and fly haphazardly in Mushi's direction, though.
«OOC» Aburei says, "So, you need to decide on a move to use against them. An S-rank move would take them out entirely, but it would cost 4 chakra, and really you've got them outnumbered and outgunned already. You could do a D-rank for free and knock them down by 2."
«OOC» Mushi says, "How much would a C and B-rank cost? And how much chakra do I have?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "You currently have 5 chakra, and you'll gain 1 more at round end. If you have 6 when your next attack comes, you'll be at tension level 2, which allows you to do C-rank attacks for free, B-rank for 1, etc. If you go to 2 or lower, you'll be at tension level 0, and get no bonus. Right now, C-ranks cost 1 and B-ranks cost 2."
Mushi probably wouldn't have been caught off guard if the spear was thrown with accuracy and skill. But the almost accidental luck of the throw slips past her guard, and grazes her leg. Ouch! Mushi looks down to see how much it's bleeding. Good, it didn't hit a bad spot or she'd be spurting blood. Healing it would take time though and she needs to keep up this momentum. She considers using yet another non-damaging move. But it may be better if some of the guards have to walk away from this with bruises. So she gathers earth up from the ground which forms into bullets around her fingers. And then the guards are being hammered by very large bullets of earth. It won't pierce or do any fatal damage. But since she's aiming partly at all their heads they'd probably be knocked out.
She grins at the squirrels. "You guys are formidable allies," she tells them. "Here I underestimated you, but you can really hold your very light weight times a hundred. Let's go." And she'd start in.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Hachimitsu's not a squirrel, BTW. X) He's Aburei's badger summon, remember?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Oh yeah."
«OOC» Mushi says, "I can repose."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Might as well. What's the rank on that earth attack BTW?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "B."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, then +roll 1d12."
RP: Mushi rolled a 12 with 1d12 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Niiice."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Total of 23."
RP: Aburei rolled a 10 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Hmm, they actually have a chance. They use 2 chakra again for C-rank defense."
RP: Aburei rolled a 12 with 1d16 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Oh, they fail. X) 4 damage, taking them down to a +2 Squad."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, Hachimitsu's base roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d9 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Erk. X) He goes for an D-rank attack since he's at a high enough tension level to make it free."
RP: Aburei rolled a 4 with 1d6 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Guards defend…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 7 with 1d7 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Don't even need a style roll. Next is Supaaki…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 5 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "He's also at tension 1, uses a D-rank taijutsu attack since the lightning didn't work so well last time…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 5 with 1d6 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Guards defend…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 7 with 1d7 die.
«OOC» Mushi brainsplodes.
«OOC» Aburei says, "They're some pretty skilled guards on the whole. X)"
«OOC» Aburei says, "They need a 3 or better or they're gone, so they use their last chakra to double their style roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 8 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "And they survive."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, base roll for remaining guards attacking Hachimitsu…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d7 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Spear combat roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 3 with 1d4 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Hachimitsu's base defense…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 8 with 1d9 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Beats it already."
«OOC» Aburei says, "And, base attack roll for a new character entering the scene…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 5 with 1d12 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Hmm, think we'll go with a C-rank attack in an A-rank style."
RP: Aburei rolled a 7 with 1d12 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Total of twelve. That was an attack against Mushi, BTW."
The earthen bullets from Mushi hit their marks, some of them also rattling about inside the spearmen's helmets with a satisfying noise. X) There are still a few guards left standing after the barrage, though. "All right, enough with the dogs, time for some real brawling!" Hachimitsu says. >D The young badger gallops in toward one of the guards with jaws aimed at his ankle, but the guard manages to put the pole of his spear in the way, starting a tug-of-war over possession of the weapon. >.< Supaaki also dashes in for close-range combat, scampering up another guard's leg to seek a place to bite, but the guard's armor and a frantic hopping dance make it difficult to get in a solid nip. *.*
As Mushi turns her attention to the main house, though, the door slides open. Out steps a dark-haired kunoichi carrying a bizarre weapon. It's essentially a huge metal ring, about the diameter of a hula hoop, only the outer edge is razor-sharp. "Ah, Sado-sama!" cries the guard captain while jabbing unsuccessfully at the wriggling Hachimitsu. "We're being overrun, help us out here!" Sado smirks wickedly at Mushi. "Here to spoil all our plans? Naughty girls get a punishment in MY playhouse!" Sado suddenly blurs forward in a cartwheel, swinging the sharp ring down at Mushi.
«OOC» Mushi says, "How do I roll?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "1d14 for your base."
RP: Mushi rolled a 3 with 1d14 die.
«OOC» Mushi awwww.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Ouch. X) You need at least a 9. Your best style (Medical Ninjutsu) starts at 1d10. Every point of chakra you spend (you currently have 4) will double your range."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Sado, BTW, is a +7 Ninja with A-rank Razor Ring and B-rank Wind mastery."
«OOC» Mushi says, "So I'd have to spend two?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "I'm confused."
«OOC» Aburei says, "No, you need at least a 9 to successfully defend. If you use Medical Ninjutsu, you'd roll 1d10, so you'd have two chances (9 or 10) out of 10 to succeed. If you spend a point of chakra, it jumps up to 1d20, giving you 12 out of 20, or you could spend 2 points to get 1d40, making it 32 out of 40."
«OOC» Mushi says, "I see."
«OOC» Mushi says, "Well I'll gonna go with 1 chakra point double."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, roll 1d20!"
RP: Mushi rolled a 20 with 1d20 die.
«OOC» Mushi whoo!
«OOC» Mushi says, "I was just hoping not for a 3."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Easily succeed!"
«OOC» Mushi says, "So that's my defense and then I attack?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Right. Base roll of 1d14 again."
RP: Mushi rolled a 5 with 1d14 die.
«OOC» Mushi aww.
«OOC» Aburei says, "You're at tension level 1, so D-ranks are free, C-ranks are 1 chakra, etc."
«OOC» Mushi says, "I'll go with D-ranks."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay. Gonna use Medical Ninjutsu?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Earth ninjutsu. :)"
«OOC» Aburei says, "In that case, 1d8."
RP: Mushi rolled a 5 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Mushi says, "What does that do?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "What does what do?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "The roll…so my attack goes through?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Well, that depends on Sado's defense. Base roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 12 with 1d12 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Gah. X) Doesn't even need a style roll. X)"
«OOC» Mushi snickers.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, Hachimitsu continues attacking guards. Base roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 5 with 1d9 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Free C-rank Beast Brawl because he's up to 6 chakra…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 4 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Total of 9, guards defend base roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 5 with 1d7 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "They spend their 1 chakra for defense because they're finished without it…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 8 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "And they survive. So Supaaki attacks them! Base roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 4 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Free D-rank attack using Lightning Manip…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 6 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Mushi says, "Nice!"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Well, nice rolls."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Total of 10. Guards' base roll for defense…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d7 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "And they can't possibly defend against that, so Supaaki gets his lightly crispified humans with frizzy hair. n.n"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Do I pose now?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Oh, sure. I was just doing rolls ahead of time so I can figure out what to write."
Mushi stares at the animals. With this much fire, she's surprised they hadn't rebelled before. Maybe they had, and their diminutive stature made it fail? As she's considering these things, it takes her a moment to notice the woman who'd entered the field. She looks at the metal ring. She hadn't fought much against those metallic rings before. But Mushi finds they have less maneuverability than swords. She's dodging backwards, avoiding the slicing edge. Once she's somewhat in the clear Mushi makes seals quickly. Chunks of earth fly up like upside-down hail. But when they're hovering over the enemy, Mushi makes the Ram seal. It's too bad that the enemy has such good defenses. It's not like it's sheer luck, it's that they're that formidable.
Kirameki has arrived.
«OOC» Mushi says, "I'm doing a mission where I may be rolling moves. So I'm gonna leave my summon charbit here. ^_^"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay."
Mushi has left.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Base roll for Sado…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 7 with 1d14 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Oh, might as well let you read the first part of the pose while I work on the rest."
The guards focus their attention on Hachimitsu, instinctively judging him to be the bigger threat because, well, he's a lot bigger than Supaaki. c.c Their spear hafts combine to block Hachimitsu's swipes and snaps, which are growing very wild and aggressive. "TAKES FOUR OF YA TA DEAL WITH ME, HUH!? WHY DON'TCHA PUT DOWN THOSE STICKS AND FIGHT ME LIKE BEASTS?!" >D Meanwhile, Supaaki manages to find his footing on the guard's armor when he stops jumping around to fight in formation with the others. Rather than using the chance to bite, though, he goes for a more all-encompassing attack. Pulling a length of wire from his pouch (whaddaya mean, what pouch, he's a ninja squirrel, of course he's got gear), he threads it through the armor of each of the remaining guards, hopping stealthily from one to the other while Hachimitsu keeps them occupied. Once they're all connected, he drops to the ground behind them and forms some handseals. "Special Summer Lightning Attack," he mutters, gripping the ends of the wire. "Peak oooooooofff…" Supaaki yells almost as loud as the guards as he sends a powerful electric current through the wire. "JUUUUUUUUNE!!!" >.< The guards fall in a twitching heap. @.@ Hachimitsu blinks at his sudden lack of adversaries. "Whoa. Super effective."
«OOC» Kirameki flying kicks Aburei for that last sentence!
«OOC» Aburei says, "Heh. X) Did you even get the other reference? ;)"
«OOC» Kirameki says, "Hence the flying kick."
«OOC» Kirameki says, "So we've cleared the lawn?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Yup."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, Sado's going to just take her free D-rank as far as attack level goes, buuuut, she's also going to spend 1 chakra point to add her wind manip to the mix. That means she gets an extra 1d6 to her roll, but no extra damage if it connects."
RP: Aburei rolled a 9 with 1d10 die.
RP: Aburei rolled a 6 with 1d6 die.
«OOC» Kirameki says, "No kidding."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Hoo boy. X) 2 points of damage coming your way if you can't match a total of 22."
«OOC» Kirameki says, "Total of 22. And what are my rolls?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "1d14 first."
RP: Kirameki rolled a 6 with 1d14 die.
«OOC» Kirameki aww.
«OOC» Kirameki says, "Do I roll now? Pose now?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "So you need 16 or above. Medical Nin starts at 10, Seal Mastery starts at 8, Chakra Tai and Earth both start at 6."
RP: Kirameki rolled a 4 with 1d10 die.
RP: Kirameki rolled a 4 with 1d8 die.
RP: Kirameki rolled a 133 with 1d600 die.
«OOC» Kirameki fwahaha.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Er, no, you pick one style, then use however many chakra points you want to double it that many times."
«OOC» Kirameki says, "Well I already did those others. Too late. I'll go with the 6 in earth then. To make it 12."
RP: Kirameki rolled a 4 with 1d12 die.
«OOC» Kirameki takes 2 damage. XD
«OOC» Kirameki didn't get 4 on her 3rd roll at least!
«OOC» Aburei says, "If you were only going to do that you might as well save your chakra, because a 1d12 couldn't possibly succeed. XD"
«OOC» Kirameki says, "Huh? Couldn't it…by getting 12 more?"
«OOC» Kirameki says, "And adding em all together."
«OOC» Kirameki @.@
«OOC» Kirameki says, "Oh I see! Only choose one of those and multiply it."
«OOC» Aburei says, "No, you only get to add styles together if you spend chakra on it. And I think I only allowed that in attacking, for balance reasons. e.ea We could experiment with it, though."
«OOC» Kirameki says, "So I could put 2 chakra into medical ninjutsu, make it 40, and try to roll above 12?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Ah, I see where the confusion is. When I said you needed 16, I already accounted for your base roll. You need at least a 16 with this next roll /alone/. But yes, 2 chakra into medical ninjutsu would be your best bet. If you think it's worth that to avoid 2 damage."
«OOC» Kirameki says, "Could I do it with 1 conceivably?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Yes, you'd have a 1/4 chance if you spend 1 chakra."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Considering how close you are to tension level 2, I'd say just take the hit. :P"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Especially since 2 damage is the lowest she can deal currently."
«OOC» Kirameki says, "Mmkay. How am I hit?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "A razor ring slice enhanced with wind chakra. I haven't figured out the exact details yet, need to write her pose. X)"
«OOC» Kirameki poses.
«OOC» Aburei says, "No, not yet! I only did half my pose. XD"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Also, you should roll your attack before posing. 1d14 for the base."
RP: Kirameki rolled a 4 with 1d14 die.
«OOC» Kirameki snickers.
«OOC» Kirameki says, "I've decided. 4 is my least favorite number of all time."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, not great. I recommend spending no chakra, which means you can use a free D-rank. 1d12 if it's medical nin, 1d10 if it's Seals, 1d8 if it's Chakra Tai or Earth."
«OOC» Kirameki says, "I'm gonna roll 1d10 for seals."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Fine."
RP: Kirameki rolled a 9 with 1d10 die.
«OOC» Kirameki whoo! I think?
«OOC» Aburei says, "Nice. Base defense roll for Sado…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 3 with 1d12 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Ooo, pressure. Sado spends 1 chakra attempting to defend, which means she won't be able to get a free D-rank next round. ;)"
RP: Aburei rolled a 6 with 1d16 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "And she fails anyway! XD 2 damage, putting her at +5 Ninja."
«OOC» Kirameki aww!
Sado spins her ring around on her arm, deftly deflecting the backwards hail of stone. "Didn't anyone ever teach you not to throw rocks at the other children?" The twirling ring spins faster and picks up a whistling sound. "Just wait 'til your mother catches wind of this — or maybe YOU WILL!" >D Sado slings the ring around toward Mushi's midriff, the edge extended by a shroud of wind chakra.
«OOC» Kirameki says, "My pose?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Yup."
«OOC» Kirameki says, "And I get hit? But attack successfully?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Yup."
Mushi gives a helpless shrug when the badger and squirrel deal with the opponents. Did she really have to come? The thought makes her chuckle. Maybe they'll need opposable thumbs in the near future. It's Mushi who takes point. Before she pushes through the door, she stops as if sensing something. Then, she nods and enters the building carefully. Quietly. She signals for her two companions to be quiet as well. But it doesn't matter. As soon as they enter, they're being attacked. It seems their friends were warned, and this time Mushi isn't so well timed. The wind from the blades slashes red marks on her arm. Mushi takes in a deep breath…then she expels it. A cloud of powder would move out with almost living intent to engulf the enemy and knock them out.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Hmm, should've asked what the attack was, wind manip would've made more sense to defend with. X) Oh well."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay! Rolls, rolls, rolls. Hachimitsu's base…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d9 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Bleh. X) No real decision to be made as far as style, he's only got one and he's at high enough tension level to do his highest-ranked attacks for free."
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Poor Hachimitsu. XD No need to even roll Sado's defense. Now for Supaaki's base…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Ouch, poke-squad's striking out this round. He'll do a D-rank Lightning attack."
RP: Aburei rolled a 5 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Sado's base defense…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 11 with 1d12 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Blows it away. Literally probably. X)"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Base roll for Sado's attack…"
«OOC» Kirameki says, "No kidding."
RP: Aburei rolled a 9 with 1d10 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Y'know, I forgot to update my notes on Sado's base roll before I did her defense against Supaaki…not that it matters, even if I subtracted 2 directly from her roll it would still win."
«OOC» Kirameki says, "Heh"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Anyway, as tempting as it is for Sado to capitalize on that good base roll, she's going to conserve chakra to try and get back to tension level 1."
«OOC» Aburei says, "So she does an E-rank Razor Ring attack this time."
RP: Aburei rolled a 5 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Total of 14. Mushi needs to roll 1d12 for base defense."
RP: Kirameki rolled a 5 with 1d12 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Need 9 more to succeed. If you spend any chakra on defense, though, you won't be at tension level 2 (free C-ranks, etc.) to attack."
«OOC» Aburei says, "And it's only 1 damage if you fail."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Your only chance to succeed without chakra use is Medical Nin, 1d10."
RP: Kirameki rolled a 8 with 1d10 die.
«OOC» Kirameki finger snaps.
Sado jumps backward to avoid Mushi's powder cloud, but she still ends up inhaling some of it. "Hey! *kaff* No fair, *koff*, that's fighting dirty!" >.<; Hachimitsu smells opportunity and barrels forward. "I got this, prepare to be — oof!" The young badger slips and falls flat on his way over. >.<; Supaaki scampers forward too, forming paw-seals. "Paw chi reeds — oof!" Supaaki makes the mistake of trying to bound off Hachimitsu's helmet, and the metal surface proves too slippery for him. His lightning attack flies wild, striking an awning post. "Hey, watch it brushtail! You coulda fried my brains there!" "Iwouldn'thavetrippedifyouhadn'tfallenoveryourbigpawsfirst!" >P Sado shakes the drowsiness from her head and makes a sliding dash past Mushi, attempting a slash at her leg as she goes.
RP: Mushi rolled a 2 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Mushi heh. My rolls suck in this RP.
«OOC» Aburei says, "D'oh. X) Oh well, at least you're at tension level 2 now and can unleash C-ranks for free. :D"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Best style is Medical Ninjutsu, which for a C-rank move would roll 1d14. Then you've got Seal Mastery which would be 1d12, and Chakra Taijutsu and Earth Manipulation could each do 1d10."
RP: Mushi rolled a 14 with 1d14 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Woot. n.n"
«OOC» Mushi looks up. Thank you. T_T
«OOC» Aburei says, "Sado's base defense roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d10 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "What kind of attack are you using, BTW?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Chakra Strike. Having chakra form around her arm and extend to swat everyone in front."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay. Sado attempts a D-rank defense with her razor ring…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 5 with 1d16 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Bam. Down 3 to make her a +2 Ninja."
«OOC» Mushi says, "So I can roll hitting?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Pose hitting, you mean? Yes."
Mushi winces as she gets nicked on the leg. But she doesn't even wobble. It's a superficial scratch and one that's not bleeding too fast. Chakra, clear hardened chakra, is forming around her arm like a giant's arm. Long and inescapable in these confined walls. She swings it around to smash into the enemy with force. Making sure that her allies aren't caught in /this/ one. When the chakra fades, Mushi leans down quickly to tie a linen strip quickly around her wound. Not to heal, but to stop the bleeding, before she starts moving forward again. She doesn't move sneakily. She goes forward like a force of nature, unstoppable.
«OOC» Aburei says, "I'm gonna try something new for the system, Hachimitsu and Supaaki are going to do a combination attack. It adds their rolls together, but only one of them deals damage. First, Hachimitsu's base roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 6 with 1d9 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Style roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 5 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Supaaki's base roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Mushi says, "Wait how can you roll 1? It adds 1 to the lowest number at least."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Oh, I'm adding all these together."
«OOC» Aburei says, "And he'll spend 1 chakra to boost himself to B-rank on his style roll."
RP: Aburei rolled a 12 with 1d12 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Grand total of 24."
«OOC» Aburei says, "Sado's base roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 6 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "She needs 18 or better, so she uses 3 chakra to boost her style roll."
RP: Aburei rolled a 14 with 1d32 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "And fails anyway!"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Sooooo close!"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Base attack roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 2 with 1d6 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Style roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 6 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Supaaki's base defense…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 1 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Supaaki uses 2 chakra to increase his style roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 22 with 1d24 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Safe!"
«OOC» Mushi says, "Cool."
Sado grunts as she's smashed away by Mushi's chakra strike. x.x "Unf…no way," she wheezes as she picks herself up. "We shouldn't have attracted this much attention yet, who sent such a heavy-hitter?" >.<; Sado flees into the building while Mushi is tending her wound. Hachimitsu and Supaaki pursue her immediately, intent on ending the fracas (and in Hachimitsu's case, getting in a good swipe on something more satisfying than a dog XP ).
When the group catches up, Sado is snatching a jar from an elderly man in rich clothing, presumably the head of the Houfu household. "B-but those are supposed to be for our biggest battles! We can't afford to use them like this!" "You ain't gonna live to SEE any big battles if I don't take care of this hussy, old man!" Sado turns around to face the intruders. "Thought you could just walk in and take these? Think again!" >( Sado is holding what is quite obviously the JAR OF PILLS! …Only it's a completely different jar of completely different pills than what Mushi came to find. o.o Rather than doses of specialized medicine for curing that village's epidemic, it's some kind of soldier pill — probably something rare and powerful considering the Houfu think Mushi & co. are here to steal it. Sado grabs several pills from the jar and pops them into her mouth. A rush of chakra flows out from her body, and it looks as though she's recovered a bit from her injuries.
The sight and feel of their adversary taking a sudden power boost is enough to make even the reckless Hachimitsu pause for thought. :/ Hmmm, attacking her head-on might not be smart…should start with a ranged attack, some kind of projectile, but what's handy…ah, of course. >) "Hey brush-tail." Hachimitsu scoops Supaaki up in one paw. o.O "Think fast!" >D Hachimitsu hurls a furry fast-ball special at Sado. Supaaki, for his part, does think fast, curling up and wrapping his form with a heavy shield of lightning. The little thunderball smashes into Sado's midriff, knocking most of the wind back out of her. X.X "Ga-a-a-a-a-ah! Stupid…rodent!" >.<; Sado swipes at Supaaki with her ring, but he blurs out of range with ease. "Now, great one! Let us end this thing!"
«OOC» Mushi crushed! X.x
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, Sado recovered 3 of her Ninja stat and got 2 chakra, but that knocked her down another 4, so she's only a +1 Ninja now. Shouldn't be hard to knock her out."
«OOC» Mushi says, "What do I need to roll?"
«OOC» Mushi says, "4?"
«OOC» Aburei says, "1d11 for base."
«OOC» Mushi winces.
RP: Mushi rolled a 6 with 1d11 die.
«OOC» Mushi says, "Wow! COOL!"
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay, now just to make sure we end this here, why don't you spend a point of chakra to combine two styles? :) You could do a 1d14 for a C-rank Medical Ninjutsu and combine it with a 1d8 for Seal Mastery, or a 1d6 for one of your other styles."
RP: Mushi rolled a 12 with 1d14 die.
RP: Mushi rolled a 1 with 1d8 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "Okay. X) Sado's base roll…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 3 with 1d6 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "And she uses her single remaining chakra…"
RP: Aburei rolled a 13 with 1d16 die.
«OOC» Aburei says, "You win. n.n Sado's down."
Mushi's eyes narrow when she sees the pills. Unless she misses her mark those are combat pills for enhancing strength. Very effective but very temporary. She's seen the danger of using those, but she doesn't think this person will much listen to Mushi's wise medical advice about not taking them.
She has to smirk when a furry lightning ball hits her. Mushi quickly makes hand seals. Written seals blossom on the floor underfoot. Before the opposition can even looking down, Mushi has made a final hand seal. Chakra explodes upwards from the seals like land mines.
FOOM! Sado totters after being roasted by Mushi's seals. x.x "No…fair," she whispers, then collapses on the floor. Lord Houfu looks at the pill jar briefly as though considering taking some himself, but realizes pretty quickly the odds of him getting the upper hand are mighty slim. c.c; He puts his forehead to the floor. "A-all right, fine, take them! It was her idea to begin with, I swear! I'll never try to take over any other precincts again, I promise!" ;.; Supaaki marches up to the bowing nobleman with a stern demeanor. "We will forgive you if you behave from now on, plus one more condition!" Lord Houfu looks up and recognizes Supaaki, and adopts a wheedling tone. "Ah yes, Supaaki-sama, you always were good to me, weren't you? I'm sorry I didn't treat you better. Yes, of course, what do you want me to do?" Supaaki points at Lord Houfu's head. "Take off your hat!" Lord Houfu blinks in puzzlement, but complies, revealing his balding pate. Supaaki goes through some paw-seals, then grabs Lord Houfu's nose. "PEACH-'DO!" >.< A jolt goes through Lord Houfu, not enough to cause serious injury to the old man, but enough to make his remaining hair, moustache, and beard stand out frizzily with little arcs of static popping amongst them here and there. @.@ Supaaki falls back and rolls around with his arms clutching his sides, laughing a hysterical high-pitched squirrel laugh. XD
Hachimitsu picks up the pill jar. "So this is what all the fuss was about? Not that I care. Sheesh, humans fight over the dumbest things. Coulda at least made it something that tastes good." :P Yup, it seems some good has been accomplished here, squashing the violent ambitions of a minor noble, but now how will Mushi find the medicine for that sick village? :o Find out next time on Charming Combat Medic Mushi!
A pungent odor arises from Hachimitsu's vicinity. He crosses his arms defensively and glares away. "What, it's not my fault! He reminded me of that vole steak I had for lunch!" >.<;
