Summary:
Kurome once again has to retrieve a cart that somehow disappeared near the Lightning/Fire border. And strange animals attack… Good thing she has a team with her.

Land of Lightning/Fire Border
With the coming of early morning, Kurome has been assigned a rather simple mission to take some Genin on. Really, it's one they could probably accomplish themselves, but, especially with Zori on it, it's been to have a Jounin accompany them. A wagon is a couple days late getting the Kohaha with a shipment, so its owner asked for a team to be sent to check on it and be sure it makes it back to the village safely. (Will Kurome be able to do this without destroying the shipment this time!?)
Still, it's noting too difficult, at least in thought. However, when the team would eventually come upon the overturned wagon on a trail, there are a pair of bodies lying around it. A rather eerie feeling fills the air, something rather 'off' about this…. And there's no guarantee that whatever killed them is gone.
Well, she better… Otherwise talk about a pay dock… That last mission ended up coming right out of her own pocket! The Uchiha Clan Head peered at Zori intently and frowned. "Keep close to your friend at all times, Zori," she warns, motioning to the Jounin that is ever-present and within five feet from the genin. Then Kurome glances to Tatsuo and says, "I have everything in case we happen to run into an emergency, so don't worry." She pauses, then would head out to the cart site.
After a bit of traveling, They would find themselves at the site where the wagon was last spotted. Kurome looked around a bit with her usual eyes. And then black would turn red as she examined them in a new light. "Hmmm…" she murmurs to herself. "Can you three sense anything?" she asks, including the random Jounin that was following Zori.

Zori had received notice that he was to check out a late shipment. Zori grabs his pill from his medicine pouch and pops it into his mouth. Drinking from bottled water, the water helped swallow the pill down to his stomach. Zori looks over at the Jounin with a smirk "Alright lets go." The Jounin nodded at Zori, standing up from his chair. The Jounin heads towards the door opening it up as he waits for Zori to go through. Zori grabs his backpack which is already filled with supplies like water, food, pills, first aids etc and slings it unto his back. Zori then walks out the door as the Jounin closes the door behind him as he walked out as well. The Jounin and Zori takes for the trees traveling from one tree to the next on their way to the mission meet up point. Once they arrived Zori and the Jounin listend to what Kurome had to say. Zori grins "Of course.." is said calmly. The Jounin greets Kurome "Kurome, nice to see you here" The Jounin places his hands in his pockets, his eye kinda focused on Zori.
Tatsuo was a little surprised to be sent out again so soon. And with Zori. Again. They were really testing the teens patience weren't they? At least as far as team leaders go Kurome was the one in charge which put Tatsuo at least a little bit at ease. As they traveled and once they arrived the boy was keeping as much an eye about as he could, looking here and there until they arrived at the site. Upon Kuromes question Tatsuo looked around yet again, trying to detect…anything.
Always keeping his senses strewn about the world when ever possible, gathering pieces of information here and there, collecting them, managing them, and disciminating the truth from them, Rain tended to keep up with things that were occuring outside of his direct purview. In this instance, he was aware primarily of the existence of some from of beast that had … perhaps migrated from the Land of Fire to the Land of Lightning. Normally, he would not partake in such rumors or even superstitions, however… he's had such incidents spread to his lands on more than one occassion. He wanted to head it off this time and verify it for himself. He did not want to dedicate any real man power to this particular issue however as it may not turn up anything of note in the end.
Heading to the Land of Lightning was always a bit of a trip. It was … quite far no matter which route he took normally. In this case, he took the path through the Land of Fire from where he was currently located, listening to the rumors as he went along, some entirely hard to beleive first hand accounts, and some more plausible second hand accoutns as he traveled. He took his time, as information was more important than simply getting there quickly, but eventually he would indeed arrive upon the scene with the over turned wagon and apparently, Konoha shinobi had 'beat' him to it. A gauntleted hand would be raised lightly, but little more greeting would be had before Rain simply moved on to investigating the wagon itself. "I assume you allowed one of your children to pilot this vehicle?" he would muse in obvious jest.

"Bored, bored, bored." Furoo sighs as she stands on the side of a tree. She idly rubs her nose a little, her pair of half staffs that she often uses like escrima sticks of a larger size are sitting on her back. She considers the area around her before saying, "Really?" She looks around, "Is something going to attack the countryside?" She chuckles, "I doubt it." She then rushes down the tree and suddenly vanishes in a burst of speed to appear elsewhere, sitting on a branch, "Bah!" She declares and then disappears in another burst of speed. She rushes along only to run right by the group. She then suddenly reappears back by the overturned wagon and completely ignores the others here. She is right by it, poking at it with the metal staff idly. Poke poke poke. She then looks over at other parts of the wagon, walking around it. She finally looks at Kurome, then Tatsuo, then the Jounin, then ZOri, and then she looks at Rain. She hmms before gesturing with a thumb over at the wagon, "I think I found the problem with your wagon." She nods, "It works better when on its wheels…and when the people driving it aren't dead." She nods, "You're welcome."

As the group begins to gather at the sight of the crash, those whose senses are good enough, save that one Nara boy who's probably thinking about turtles or something. Those who inspect the wagon would find it seems to be a bit damaged, as if something rather large rammed it, that likely being what destabilized it and sent it crashing. The bodies have some rather gruesome wounds, even seeming to be partially eaten in places, also with large number of broken bones. One searching for what might be around would find something that's almost something one would overlook, but is then becoming more troubling. A large number of woodland creatures have begun to gather in the trees, ranging from birds to squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, and anything one might think to find… and they are beginning to be joined by larger animals… Wolves… Deer…. Bears… They seem to all be circling in on the wagon and pausing as if waiting for something.
Kurome is about to say something when Rain and Furoo appear. She blinks a bit and frowns. "Greetings…" She says. "And no, it was like this when we came here…" She pauses for a moment, scanning the wagon for a bit, even as she starts wondering who Rain is. He had the Sharingan, which was rather suspicious, but he also wasn't in any recent files. But she had to worry about that later. For now, the cart. "We should overturn this quickly," she tells her team. "If you two," she adds, pointing to the latest arrivals. "could help, that would be fantastic." The woman then glances at the wagon and can't help but sigh inwardly. It was a really big cart, and it would take a bit to get this … "Zori-san, Tatsuo-kun, you two are probably going to have to rely on your jutsu to pick this up."
Now, with all that planning, she was trying to ignore the gathering animals. But she still couldn't shake a feeling… "And keep watch on the critters… I don't like that they're all here…"
Zori summons wires within the area. Zori waits patiently for any disturbance or vibrations of some sort. After a moment of waiting Zori's wires begin to rub on something very unsual sending him a vibration. Zori rushes over to the area that those vibrations would led him too. After arriving Zori looks around and notices a wagon. Outside the wagon was a body that had been chewed on and mauled. Zori turns his head over to look at the bloody body. Seeing the physical state that the body was in gave Zori a rush. Grinning at the body as his Jounin walked up behind him. Zori hears Kurome speak to him and responds "Rely on my jutsu? Heh.. Alright" Zori focuses more chakra into his wires as he waits for more vibrations just in case.
Tatsuo looks between the other random folk that have for some reason shown up next to the Konoha bound cart and fidgets a bit, looking a little worried and wondering /why/ these people are here. And who they are. And where they're from. Annnnnd…- When Kurome speaks again about turning the cart back over Tatsuo looks to her and nods a bit before making a hand seal and gathering water from any nearby sources and moisture from the air, bringing it all together near the cart. Once it's ready he would use the chakra filled water to push underneath the cart to help right it. The force should be enough by itself, he just has to hope it doesn't crash too hard when it comes down.
Rain largely ignored what Kurome was saying. First, he had no interest in lifting a cargo wago. But more importantly, he knew that animals did not act like this without being influenced in some way. Some of the animals that were around would have ran away very shortly after others were any where near the area they inhabited. He would glance around at them slowly… wondering why he did not feel someone manipulating them near by. Their will could not merely be their own. "The wagon can wait. We have been surrounded." Rain would caution the rest as his chakra roiled through his form. Once again he was facing a situation that involved large numbers… and was not adequately prepared for it. That would have to wait for another time however. His focus was still to find out what was causing this unnatural cooperation and to eliminate that target in particular. "The wagon is either a trap, or a victim of a related situation, if not the very same situation we are in." Everything about this indicated an ambush to Rain… but nothing about it yet made any sense.
A look at Kurome and she leans forward, "If you aren't in my chain, don't yank it, lady." She nods her head and then looks at the wagon, "Besides, it's on its side." SHe nods her head, "I mean, it's not going anywhere even if you do right it" She then looks at Zori and then hmms, "And you seem like ten pounds of crazy stuffed into a five pound bag." She hmms, "I mean, grinning at a masacred body? Who does that? I mean, unless that body's former owner was a charcoal who kicked your favorite puppy." She then nods, "In which case I get it." She then looks around and hmms as she walks around the cart and then gestures at Rain with a thumb, "Squiggly eyes has got it. Something's really weird here." She idly starts trying to shoo at some animals, "Nothing to see here folks. Move along."
As the shinobi start to work on putting the cart back upright, more animals continue to gather. The ominous grouping is yet silent for a while, staring down at the gathered shinobi in anticipation of some sort… and then comes a distant howl, piercing, yet far off. Suddenly the creatures from the trees begin to come down upon them all, intent on ripping, tearing, pecking, and otherwise tearing the shinobi all to shreds! There's something off about their chakra, an odd color, even an odd smell to them. They are infected with whatever it is that is affecting the sea-life between Kumogakure and Kirigakure.

Kurome had her eyes on the wildlife around her, even if it didn't seem like it. She helped with righting the wagon, but then… Furry attack! Kurome avoids them all with ease, but then she sees a few coming towards Tatsuo, which prompts her to knock Tatsuo over and take one of the squirrel's teeth in her shoulder. "Figures…" she mutters. "I didn't need to be warned about the animals," she mutters at Rain, forming handseal a to send a swift ball of flaming death at the animals. And even if the fire doesn't hit, maybe the Genjutsu would…

Zori overhears Furoo speaking to him. Zori crazy eyes Furoo "Crazy…im not crazy" Zori pauses for a moment "Its just seeing this snapped up body makes me feel so good." Zori crosses his arms over his chest "And..get this i dont even know who the body belongs too..Hehe" Zori unfolds his arms from his chest puting them beside his body. It was then moments after that a squirell lauched after him. As the squirel got near Zori, his wires lashed out from up underneath the sleeves of his hoodie at the squirel, slapping the squirell away. Zori was already wired up from looking at the body, his heart starts to beat faster giving him a adrenaline rush. Zori's focus was on the squirel that attacked him. Allowing the bear that was coming at him from the side to claw at him. The claws go in deep into Zori's chest, pushing him to the ground. Zori stands up and glares at the bear. "Im.. liking this mission.. alot already" With that Zori's wires lash out at the bear in pursuit of wrapping around the bear. The wires would then twist and squeeze the bear.
Tatsuo was so focused on righting the cart that at first he didn't even realize the creatures that were attacking. It wasn't until just before Kurome knocked him aside that he realized what was happening. But then, well, he /did/ get pushed aside and falls to the ground, if only for a split second. The boy is back on his feet immediately, eyes quickly taking in what was going on before he ran back over to Kurome, putting a gentle hand on her back as it began to glow with green chakra, quickly mending some of the injury she'd sustained in helping him. "Thanks Kurome-same…" he says quietly while his dark eyes watch the creatures.

The howl told Rain everything he was missing in this situation. Well… everything he needed to know immediately. That howl could carry for miles easily, they'd not find the being responsible for this. It was indeed an ambush. The chakra that these animals had… the alteration of it… they were obviously made to act this way. Perhaps something spread amongst them some how… No time to analyze, that howl was a battle cry and the attack had commenced. Aside from Kurome apparently 'having it all under control', she had people to defend. The only ones who didn't truly were the Kunoichi that had made her way here and himself. Thus he would rotate around a flying rabbit, likely aimnig straight for the jugular, and transitioned in to a stomp upon an ankle biting chipmonk who tried to take the opportunity to get a nibble in. Some experiments were in order other wise. Shuriken would fly from his sleeves, seeking out potential targets as he easily controlled them with his finger tips. He slipped a couple tags in amongst them, seeking to see if he could add his own infection to them ix… see how their chakra would hold up to an assault.

"What the heck, guy? That's like fourteen types of crazy." Furoo states to what Zori says, "You're so far gone you don't get that or…well, stupid." Furoo nods, "It could be bo-Squirrel!" She declares as one latches on to her and she attempts to weave through the animals but ends up getting torn up, "Ow!" She declares as she yanks a squirrel off and she then stares, "What the burn, critters?" She then whips out both half staffs and then shakes her head, "I don't normally use this but fry all yall." She then disappears and reappears in various points. SHe seems to reappear every half a second attacking an animal, whipping a strike down, then a strike up. Then she is by another kicking before appearing next to another to hit one and throw a staff at another before she suddenly has a full sized metal staff to smack at deer only to reappear at the other end catching her wooden half staff and she…has just a metal half staff? What happened to her full sized staff? She then grumbles, "I really hate showing off but luckily only you lot are here."

KABOOM! SLASH! POW! For the most part, a lot of the small critters get roasted, stabbed, or otherwise ganked into oblivion. Some fall over in confusion from the Genjutsu, and others manage to escape. This doesn't stop more from coming along with a wave coming from the ground this time as well, consisting of some of the smaller creatures like those from the trees, along with rabbits, foxes, and other little rabid monsters intent on destruction!

Kurome is quick to react to the sudden onslaught of forest critters, and she only ends up getting clawed by two! Partly because her focus is a bit on saving Tatsuo, but y'know… She doesn't want him to die! Just after she rescues him, the Uchiha unleashes a huge flamethrower-like blaze that would scorch surrounding critters outward of the wagon that is still on its side. "Just don't get yourself injured," she tells the Nara after the flames die.

Zori hears what Furoo said to him, but is to occupied at the moment to respond. Zori is staring at Kurome as she gets attacked like crazy.As a fox ran toward Zori's blindside, the fox manages to bite Zori on the arm. Digging its teeth deeper as it growls. Zori winces as he shakes the fox off his arm. Zori's arm is bleeding. The blood pouring in streaks along his arm, dripping to the ground. "These creatures.. are just to sneaky" Zori brings his bloody arm to his mouth. Staring down at it Zori licks his bloody arm in one motion collecting as much blood as he could into his mouth. Zori's heart beat comes to a slow for a moment before suddenly picking up pace beating faster. Zori tilts his head up and glares at the fox with bloodshot eyes. Zori's grin had faded and a more stern serious look surfaced. Zori means bussiness. His wires then lash out at the fox slicing and slashing at it.

Tatsuo sees Kurome take some more bites from the feral creatures and he continues to pump a bit of healing into the Uchiha. "Kurome-sama, please, don't get yourself hurt because of me," he says to her without actually looking up at her. His attention stays focused on the creatures nearby. "I can only do so much to help heal your wounds…I'm not that good of a medic yet. I…I can take care of myself." Brave words!

It seems that his sample data was not so easily obtained. Though since Kurome has utilized her genjutsu to some effect, that's enough information for Rain to work from. "Hm… collective will perhaps.. or rather… submissiveness." Rain would murmur mostly to himself, manuvering while taking the information in while throwing out attacks here and there. "Perhaps a charm of some sort… dominating chakra. What ever the situation… this will not end here." Of that Rain was certain. He would begin to form the hand seals for fire jutsu before recalling that his body still was not up to the task of performnig what he had in mind. During this time, he was not able to evade one of the myriad of furry projectiles coming his way, reciecing a couple of cuts and bits along his thigh. One of the furries decided to cling, locking it's jaws down in to Rain's flesh and would recieve a good spashing by way of his gauntlet if it didn't let go in time. With a slight grunt, Rain would move in force, striking out, kicking, thrusting his fists, back handing, what ever worked as the flurry of furry continued it's assault. He truly had to get his fire back some day…

Letting out an annoyed breath, Furoo shakes her head, "These little things are really annoying. I haven't had this kind of a workout in a while." She then looks over at Zori and arches a brow at him, "Yep…nutters." She then looks to Rain, "And also nutters." She then calls out to Rain, "You do realize we are being attacked by wild, crazed, creatures that are often better known for sweet music, eating grain, and making dresses for princesses to be, right?" She then disappears as the animals attack, appearing where they aren't. Then again she vanishes and appears next to Kurome, "You're looking a little bit worse for wear." She then gives Tatsuo a thumbs up, "Way to keep the lady healed up."S he then vanishes again. Five more times she seems to just appear by an animal. A flicker or shimmer of her form smashing, crashing, or even kicking at an animal only for her to appear by Rain, "Seriously, this is not a time for science."

WHOOOOOOOOSH! Kurome's blaze catches a large number of the creatures in flames, as some of Rain's strikes catch some of the creatures and Furoo makes mince meat of out of those around her. This large assault, however, draws in the bigger guns. Large-sized wolves, bears, and deer charge out of the surrounding area to attack the shinobi, intend on ravaging them with fangs, claws, and hooves. Meanwhile the wagon now seems more damaged than before, as Tatsuo blasted an already-damaged structure over and broke it further. The way it's twisted, it'll most likely have to be repaired before it can even be moved at a decent pace, much less at one to be able to outrun these creatures.

Kurome arranges herself just a bit in front of Tatsuo so that she has two wolves trying to attack her. One of them she's able to knock back, but the other one gets her in the side. Hope it likes Uchiha? Well, regardless, Kurome wasn't planning for the animal to be able to get another taste. The woman's sharingan swirl a bit as she forces the animals into a genjutsu filled with death and suffering. "Tatsuo-kun, you need to leave and get backup," she tells him quickly, wincing a bit with the huge chunk out of her side. That'd leave a mark… And her face is just a bit paler than before…

Zori watched as the bear came after him, Zori's wires lashed out to the furthest tree behind him, pulling him out of harms way giving him quite the distance away from the bear. The Jounin appeared behind Zori "Do something! Quick! Its a Bear!" Zori turns his head slightly and stares at the Jounin with his bloodshot eyes. Zori then crouches down on the ground, knees bent as he stares at the ground. Zori takes his wire and starts to form a net with it. Giving it a touch of poison as he continues to mend the wires together. Zori is focused with his trap hes making. Eyes on the ground but his ears are still open to the world.

Tatsuo winces as Kurome takes another hit and he removes his hand from her back before stepping to the side and taking a deep breath. "There's no time Kurome-sama. By the time I get back to the Village…" they /were/ on the border after all. Instead he reaches inside himself and begins to tug on a sickening source of chakra. As he does so blue chakra starts to bubble around his frame, covering his whole body in a blow burning cloak of chakra. One tail forms behind him, then a second makes it's way visible as his eyes turn dark red. The whole transformation takes meer moments and once it's complete another hand seal is made, drawing water quickly and forming it into a wide tidal wave between the team and the beasts. This shoots towards them at a high speed and power, trying to kill, injure, or at least force the creatures back.

Watching as the heavy hitters quite literally come charging out, Rain would be faced with the buck as it came charging his way too fast for him to simply slip away from it. His left side is caught by one of the antlers as he is knocked back at least a dozen feet with a puncture wound and a shattered rib likely to show for it. One hand was raised to his chest as the other dug in to the ground with his booted feet to stop his momentum before almost collapsing. However, instead Rain would slowly raise his head and his body, staring down the beast as he locked eyes with it, attempting to give even it's small mind an idea of who it is messing with. "Know your place." he would demand as he focused the genjutsu upon it.

Slipping to the side as the animals race out, a deer slashes an antler right along her side as she slides away. She winces deeply as she feels the pain in her side. She holds her side and then looks at the deer before she races forward to appear next to the thing on all four sides of it to smash into it. She then disappears to reappear ahead of it and growls as she blinks. She spots Tatsuo change into something…else and then watches him attack, "Well, that got weird fast."

While some of the animals are caught in illusions that are confusing and just weird to them, others are ravaged by water and strikes. Still, there are more coming, and it seems the shinobi are more focused on fighting what's coming at them than trying to repair their ride out of here and survive. Thus MORE beasts are coming out of the woodworks at them, intent on annihilating them before they can hope to get away.

Kurome avoids the incoming attack by leaping out of the way, leaving Tatsuo to himself. Her eyes whirl a bit as she sees the chakra cloak, but it seems Tatsuo is in control… for now. "Zori! Try to get the cart patched up!" she yells over to him, not really knowing what he's doing. And sadly, she can't offer protection as the incoming beasts continue to pound through. Bears are a bit difficult to stop… Instead, she just makes a handseal, sending a wave of genjutsu out towards all the incoming animals to try and have them stop attacking for a bit.

Tatsuo sidesteps one of the creatures that charges at him but instead steps into an overly large swipe from a bear, knocking him back and almost right into the cart again. But he manages to slide to a stop before hand. When he looks back and sees the the cart is fixed he cloak covered boy jumps into the back of it. "Everyone on that wants out of here!" He yells as he makes a hand seal and summons up a large swath of water. Without an animals to actually pull the cart he's going to go with plan B: use water to push against the back of the cart heavily and repeatedly until they're out of the danger zone. It'll wear him down but at the moment survival is more important.

As the wagon was shambled back together, likely to Zori's discontent, Rain would take a quick inventory of all the stuff he was about to toss over the side to not only fit people in, but to make it easier for them to get moving and allow inertia to do the rest. First however, was survival. The Myriad of large animals that seemed to continually come at them were now wreaking havoc against the small amount of shinobi here. The wagon seemed to be the only practical means out, and as Rain is struck heavily once more, he would utilizing his flgiht time to send shuriken out towards the wagon itself, grapplnig on to it and pulled himself in with a hard jerk of the razor wire against his heavily protected hands and fingers. Essentially lobbing himself in to the back of the cart, he would immediately begin to tend to his wounds.

Blinking as more animals come in and she dashes along between attacks only to get clawed, bite and ripped at as she makes her way to the cart. She sucks in a breath as she ends up next to the cart only to shake her head, "You kids have fun or whatever, I have my own report to file." She then suddenly vanishes at insane speeds only a reizei can pull off, only to stop once she gets a good enough distance between her and the enemies to focus and take off again. She realizes she has to keep moving, the blood trail she is leaving is very followable.

With the remaining animals that are close enough to attack stricken down by Kurome's Genjutsu, Tatsuo's tactic of using water to propel the wagon works quite well since Zori has used his wires for a temporary repair job. Assuming Kurome boards and Rain is asked to leave the goods on the wagon, while not ALL of the animals have been killed by the assault, they've gotten a good look at this enemy and the wagon will delivered to Konoha so the goods will arrive and the wagon itself can be truly repaired. Mission accomplished.
