Odo first meets with a member of The Blades

"The Search - Meeting the Blades"

Somewhere in the Mountains of Land of Lightning

It was a long deary cold day in the Land of Lightning this evening, though rather than the flanks of snow caking against the terrain it was dreadful and cloudy, powerful winds stroking the mountains and what would have been a bright brillant blue day was instead a cloudy sky of black thunders storms scattered about the area, but suprisingly not a drop of rain pelted the ground. An invisible path, mixed in with the forestry which surrounded the area, up ahead lied the hidden camp of The Blades, high within the thundering clouds above, though the path which lead there would be quite difficult and perhaps even none existant.
Odo wasn't alone on this trip however, he was being guided by a rather frail old man, moving quietly through a sea of trees off the main pathway. "Yes yes.. this is the way I remember, the way I saw those ironed men…" He spoke idly, chatting, talking to himself to pick off the boredom..

Of the few times Odo has spoken on this trek, this was something that was more than just tickling the old man's fancy of conversationalism. "What do you mean, 'Ironed men'?" He reached up to push a branch out of the way where his little bit of height over the old man would mean the difference of ruffled hair and an eye poked out. "And, how long has it been since you were out here?" Could have been a hundred years ago for all Odo knew. Note to self, get a younger guide next time who can remember more than fishing stories or whatever he's been going on about all this time.

"The IRONED MEN, what else could I possibly mean?" The old man didn't care to elaborate even further than that, instead he used his cane, lightly pressing against a few loose flora to smooth them out of the way so they didn't cut or touch against his wrinkly flesh. " Its be a long time since I've been out the gates, decades even, but the trees, this ground, the world never really changes, Oh would you look at that!" He pointed off to a pair of birds frolicing at the heights of the trees, the man seemed to be fairly estatic as he lead the way, was he even going the right direction. " Say kiddo, why are you needing to see these people again? The swords thar called?"

Odo's eyes half lidded. What was this, the twentieth time he explained it again? "They are a group that I want to talk to. That's all." He didn't elaborate because no other reason the old man didn't elaborate. "If you know anything else about them other than your vague description of them then just lead the way." A glance up at the birds. He was on edge, and for very good reason. They were several miles, if not dozens outside of the village, or more. So perfect time for a trap to be set. Ever vigilant, but his patience was wearing thin. "-If- you remember, how much further is it?"

"I know where they are, I visit them all the time, you know I used to actually bring them food for time to time? They used to offer me all the pretty ladies I could handle, Do you like pretty ladies?" The old man snobbishly questioned, surprisingly enough the man was in high spirits, and they found themsevles moving through crazy unknown terrain, forests, mountain sides, he seemed to have a designated path, despite the crazy contraption of his sense of direction. " The Land of lightning is very large, but it should be about a few miles, 20 or 50… You want to carry me on your back to make this faster? There most be more to your story!"

A sweatdrop fell down the back of Odo's head and his forehead and eyes blued out for a moment, "T-.. twenty or fifty more miles?" He sighed, and just shook his head, "No, not really much more to the story, and I had my eye on one girl in particular, but- Eh, whatever, let's just go." He stepped ahead of the old man, and offered for him to get on his back, "It'll be faster this way, c'mon." Only so he would cut down on the time of the trip, and how many more stories he had to listen to.

The oldman simply grinned at Odo, "What are you? Getting tired all ready? You still have time until you get to my age to be that lazy," With that said the man gladly straddled along the younger mans back, hooking him up by the neck with his arms tightly wrapped around he kicked at Odo's side lightly while pointing forward. "That way! until we reach fair ground!" The old man commanded, quite content with being lifted off without a problem, the path regardless will still seem to drag on forever, with no end in sight…

Odo was pushing his speed to just about it's limit. He had made the trek to and from Kumogakure and Konohagakure before within a full 24 hours of travel. Almost nonstop. This should be a piece of cake, right? Why does it seem so far though? Odo looked out the corner of his eye back at the old man, thinking on saying something but deciding against it for now, returning his eyes to the road ahead. He kept to as straight of a path as possible, leaping when available and keeping to the ground level when required. Ever sure that he made no possibilities of dropping his guide or making it -too- jostling for him. A bump or quick change of direction here and there might be in order, just to get him to be quiet and hang on..

"Stop!!!" The old man suddenly protests, pointing his cane forward as they seemed to simply arrive into another set of forests, he pointed nervously towards what seemed to be a large wooden tower, abandoned long ago for whatever reason, it was worn, and looked like it could splinter into peices at any time… Nevertheless the man kicked at Odo's side once again. " Put me down, this is definitely the place that will lead us to their home," The man explains, attempting to move off of Odo while proding the boy forward. " In, In, get inside and we will find the tunnel that leads to the height of this mountain…"

Odo skids to a stop, letting the man down and reaching to swat at his cane jabbing at him from behind, and looks at the structure for a few moments, then at the old man. He scratches his temple for just a moment, then starts towards the door. He pauses for a moment, then takes a couple moments to grab a large stick from the surrounding dry ground (since it isn't raining right now, or even lately even given the cloudy skies), and pulls some cloth strips from his pouch supposed to be used for bandages (he has a few more left), and wraps them around the end of the stick, setting it on the ground and focusing a handseal, then touching the cloth with his forefingers on either side, striking it a couple times before the electricity would catch the cloth on fire from heat of the arc, and pick up the makeshift torch. "Alright, let's go. If I die, I'll haunt you for the next two months until you join me in the grave, old man."
And into the rickitty structure he goes, aiming directly for the tunnels.

"Think again fool," The old man menaced with a grin, as Odo had moved further within the building itself that was enough to set the trap, a trap the oldman had been waiting to spring since the begining of the trip. In a single moment, seals , laced within the entire interior of the building began to sound off one by one, fizzing in a light flame and rupturing into a massive explosion, with that one handseal the oldman's body began to phase, his henge finally begining to wear off revealing a rather burly man, with wide arms and a giant blade whisked along his back, completely bald with muscles to show he could probably bench press the very mountain they stood upon. (OVERSTATEMENT) He stood quietly outside of the tower, waiting to see just how well his explosive tactic may have worked,"Another stupid shinobi ripe for the picking…"

The explosions would erupt the building and local area in smoke and dust and debris from the small wooden structure. When all the smoke would clear, all that would be left on the ground is Odo's jacket and torch, both smoldering on the dirt, and both tattered and covered with splinters and rock and dirt. Odo would be either presumed dead and buried beneath the ground, or exploded to smitherenes, if the big guy wasn't quick enough to catch him moving to a nearby tree at the forested area nearby. As well, his ninja-to would be sticking out of the ground not twenty feet from where the mouth of the tunnel network was a few moments ago. Now just to sit and wait, Odo thought to himself, for just the right moment. Figures I would get this kind of luck.

The guide was obviously a flop, and now the bulky man grinned as he saw Odo's tattered remains of his shirt amongst the ruble of the wooden base. " Too easy, a shame… I might have blown him to smitherns to even recover anything," the man spoke out loud, suddenly lowering himself to the ground he began to pull away at the rubble with one hand, chucking away rocks and wood with an amazing show of force, apparently far to distracted to keep up on Odo. He mused quietly to himself, attempting to find the mans body in due time.

Luckily the white-haired teen was nestled easily in the nook of a thickly-leaved tree with just enough space between a few branches for him to see out, and still be shaded with the backdrop of the trunk that he could be comfortable for up to several hours if need be while the guy dug through the rubble.
Soon enough, he might find my sword and think he won the day, Odo thought.
Odo's hand was resting easily on the handle of his tanto, able to draw at a moment's notice while he listened for signs of others in the area around himself, slowly turning his head as not to compromise his location, either.

The Buffhead continued to look for the Odo, only to find nothing in his grasp as he quickly began to toss away the rubble and clear out the area, his shirt was still there but suddenly a look of confusion filled the mans face. " Where… are you?!" She shouts out, smashing his fist into the ground, cratering it in his wake. " Did i really blow you to peices that easily? I NEED my money, There has to be something I can pick up," the man continued to exclaim, highly upset that he might have actually went overkill on his prey…

This is one of those moments where patience pays off. Odo was patient with the Old man, that lead to the old guy being not an old guy, but someone entirely different, and now, patience is paying off with some small amount of amusement on Odo's behalf. A little smirk crosses his face as he watches the larger man start to question his methods of entrapment and execution of curious people looking for this band called 'The Blades'.
Odo thinks to himself now that if this guy is a member, he'll probably head back home if he doesn't find anything soon, and I should be able to follow him easily enough.

COMBAT: It's not your turn.
RPCOMBAT: OldMan defends against with a PERCEPTION-II…26

The man finally begins to give in as suspected, he tucks up what is left of Odo's shirt and simply moves off with a defeated sigh, instead of rummaging any further he began to move along, surprisingly though it was back the way he came. "All the work… I need to make another trap else where," the man complaind quietly under his breath, he motioned off, surprisingly very quickly as he did know the way back to Kumogakure. " I will find another sucker to steal from… "

COMBAT: OldMan finishes her turn.
COMBAT: It is now Odo's turn.

As the large man starts off back towards Kumogakure, Odo gets up from his perch, and quickly goes to cut him off as soon as possible, hopefully keeping a straight line from himself, the big guy, and the pile of rubble where Odo's sword still lays. "Now, let me get this straight," Odo starts, pausing for just a moment, "You lure me here and try to blow me up. Now I want some more answers. Like what do you know about The Blades?" And, hopefully the guy would stop in his tracks with surprise, if not, Odo was readying himself by focusing some of his chakra for the possible ensuing fray.

Going back on his way wasn't necessarily a Bad thing, but as Odo began to shout and proclaim himself to the bulky man that was something that was going to proof to be a problem. The man simply pointed upwards towards the skin, and a black shadow would arise from the sky above Odo, a man coming down with the same massive blade that the bulky figure had, not only that, they seemed to look exactly the same. " I JUST HAD A FEELING" The Man exclaims as he rushes down on the man with his blade aimed downwards towards Odo, attempting to slam his blade deep into the Man's flesh and instantly rid of his limbs if possible..

The attack comes down pretty quickly, and Odo really wasn't expecting the shadow clone from above. He moved forward in an attempt to put the clone behind him, but he misjudged the distance (or did he?) and the sword gashed his left shoulder just outside the shoulderblade, cutting through his shirt and one of the straps to his swords sheath, making it fall to the right without the left strap attached now.
Odo grabs his arm and grimaces at the pain. He growls at the (hopefully) real man, and pulls his right arm back for a haymaker to the chest, "How's -this- for a 'feeling'!?" He shouts, attempting to clobber the man in the sternum!

With the blunt side of his weapon he easily managed to cease the attack, training his eyes back down on the one known as Odo. " What are you? Just a weak little man? " The bulky fellow taunts as his shadow clone simply disperses, with a quick succession strike he pulled back his blade, slashing and trashing left and right with his great blade, one slash quickly became six to note the mans prowess with his own weapon, attempting to slice and dice into Odo's flesh. " You are going to give me all your belongings or you are going to die here!"

The first several slashes Odo evades, but a couple get in on him, leaving mostly superficial wounds on Odo's chest. More wincing and stinging pain. Have to finish this quickly or it will never end. Odo knew where his sword was, so, in a feint effort, he first pushed his chakra into his tendons and muscles, upping his speed with his clans transformation, and went in for what might look like another attack, but a taunt instead really. "Can't give you anything you don't earn! Catch me fatty!" And right towards the rubble he runs, picking up a rock and chucking it behind him as he goes, then another!

The rocks pelted the bulky man, surprisingly a little harder than he had expected, but the sword slightly deflected them away to keep them from hurting too much. " Try and catch you?" The man grinned and taunted once again, somehow he managed to close the distance, just so close enough to reach out with his blade and cut into Odo once again, this time it was just two fluid strikes, blazing with his chakra radiating off the tip of the blade…

Odo was heading for the pile of rubble, searching with his eyes for his sword. There it is! In a flicker, he was out of the way of the first strike, a few feet to the side. The second attack from the big man would be met with a glimmer of light streaking through the air underneath the guy's hand swinging his sword, the last few inches of Odo's blade headed straight for (and probably all the way through) the man's flank. Not a killing blow, but definately one he couldn't just walk off.
With his katana pointed straight at the man, Odo would gesture with his head towards the center of the site of the explosion. "At least tell me before you make me kill you: Is this really an entrance to one of The Blade's hideouts?"

"No it is not," Another voice called out from one corner of the forest, it was surpisingly a soft voice, feminine by nature, and in almost a flash of thundering lightning she came into view, her own blade cut neatly into the bulky man's flesh, from his back right into his heart, ending his life in a single instance. The woman was adorned in pit black samurai like armor, her face hidden away with the face mask. Swiping her blade to the side to clense her blade with a mere swing, she sliped it back into her sheath and held out a hand to Odo. "You are looking for the Blades, and we are interested in your talent, you can come with me with though showing you our home… You will have to pass our trials… Only the strongest of swordsmen can set foot in our abode… Failure to pass these trials… Is Death,"

As the female emerged, Odo looked at her with high regard, then down to the body between them. With his eyes returning to her (of course they have to go 'up' to look her in the eye again), he sticks his sword into the ground, and pulls off what's left of his sheath with only the right strap functional, and gets his sword back up, wiping it on the dead man's shirt on a clean spot if he can find one, then resheathes his weapon.
"So you've been watching this entire time then?" Odo nods to confirm his question anyway, sensing that she had been the whole time, or else she wouldn't have said 'interested in your talents'. A few moments pause.
"Wouldn't expect anything less." Fake it till you make it. At least this will get me closer to find out if they know about what I'm looking for or not. Down the Rabbit Hole we go. "What's your name?"

"Hoshi no Sora of the Blades," The woman introduces herself, her voice is faint and straight to the point, she took his offer with instant stride, her armor lightly clicking with each movement as she began to lead him to a new path, she wouldn't bother to answer his other questions, it was quite already obvious that she was watching, after all this part of the mountain was unknowingly part of the Blade's terrain, it seemed like the crooked criminal got his directions correct, at least some how.
" It will take some time to get to where we need to be… Simply follow me," The woman finally commands, her step is slow at first but soon enough the pace quickens, and she leads Odo further up the mountain, the trip itself was without any more problems, the path lead straight to the Blade's encampment, though once there was he ever going to return back alive? Only time would tell…
