Summary:
The rainiest day ever brings Kumo’s team of shinobi down to the capital so they can capture the criminal Maneshi Namikaru.
"The Usual Suspects - Rain in Raiun City"
Raiun City
Much like the times before, Kumogakure discovered another criminal. This one took a long time to track down, but now that they have, a small team was sent out to collect. Michiko called upon Ryouji, Yori, and Hisomu to assist in the mission, the missive telling them all to meet up at the capital of the Land of Lightning. They would find Michiko at the gates waiting for them. The rain today was heavy, soaking into everyone's clothes despite attempts to avoid such. Which means… Michiko can't read. Sigh…
Ryouji raps, "Rain's commin down, makin me frown. It's a sad sad day, I've got to say. But don't worry so much, I just had lunch. Some sukiyaki filled me to the top, makes my stomach wanna pop. Yeah…thank you…" He's bouncing and enjoying the rain, even though he's as soaked as everyone else must be. He's wearing his traveling cloak and keeps the hood up as he's walking to the gates. He lifts a hand in greeting, "Hey…" then comes up to Michiko and stands besides her against the gates.
Having arrived at the gate, Hisomu looks to Ryouji and blinks at his words before she shakes her head and then looks to Michiko, "So, how many criminals are officially left? This seems like we have too many as it stands and they just keep coming." She stops to think on that, "Leaving really would be the appropriate thing to say." She nods her head, "Either way."
He doesn't say anything for now but seems a little down, probably with all the rain and everything. It just makes everything so much more difficult. How was he supposed to keep and check his notes with all the rain? It's horrible!
"A bit over thirty. We've taken care of a lot, and Konoha even found one. I think we might need to start heading into neutral territory to track them down still, and I might have to ask the Mizukage for permission to search for a criminal or two in the Land of Water," Michiko tells Hisomu. "That being said… Today we're chasing after Maneshi Namikaru and his companion Mikan. The two used to be Kumo-nin, but then they attempted to assassinate one of the administrators during the Second Raikage's time. Supposedly they live in an alleyway and steal food from richer people to survive since their face is all over town." She tugs her cloak a bit tighter about her. "So… Any questions? Or shall we move out?"
Ryouji shakes his head, "No, we'll squash that kitty kat flat. Finding him though, might be a little hard if he doesn't want to be seen. I've got an idea though. What about one of us is used for bait to draw him out?" He focuses some chakra and uses his henge to transform into an older man dressed in rather rich robes and clothing. He holds his arms out for everyone to inspect and says, "What do you guys think?"
A look at Ryouji, "You are very strange." Hisomu states and nods her head after having listened to Michiko. She eyes him for a moment before nodding, "Though that may be effective." She then looks to Michiko and nods to her before nodding to Yori in greeting more than anything else. She adjusts her pack and then states, "I'm ready to go, I don't believe I have any questions other than about his sanity." She gestures to Ryouji.
Yori remains quiet in the presence of all the superior shinobi, shaking his head when the question about questions comes. Nothing from him. His head ducks down a bit when Hisomu mentions Ryouji's sanity, to cover his smile, but other than that he just chills and waits.
Michiko blinks a bit as Ryouji poofs into a rich old man, then nods. "That should work… Try to stick to less crowded places, Ryouji-kun. We don't need to attract trouble if we don't need it. Hisomu-san, move with Ryouji-kun and act as either his daughter or caretaker. Be sure to have the appropriate appearance. Yori-san, you're traveling with me to keep an eye on both these two."
The old man shrugs his shoulders at Hisomu, "And who has any other ideas? No one? Good, then like Michiko-chan says, we'll go with this one. We'll draw this maneshi out. You two stay back a good distance. Maneshi can sniff you out really well, if they're anything like the Inuzuka." He rubs his chin, "Though, I wonder if scent can determine if you're an old man? Huh, guess there's only one way to find out." He walks over to a nearby tree and picks off a limb that'll make a fine walking stick. He tests it and leans on it semi-convincingly. "Common, Hisomu-chan, let's go for a walk. And no, we cannot stop for any rock candy, your mother would kill me." he says with a smile and starts walking down the street.
Her henge only takes on a slight change, Hisomu goes from being in her normal clothing to a dress. It's black with red frills here and there. Even as she walks with the old man, she glares at him a little before giving a pout that fits the situation far better than it should even as she states, "Fine, grandpa." She sighs and shakes her head as she walks along with him. Even as she walks though, she does keep her eyes open.
Yori bows quickly to Michiko, "Hai, Michiko-san. Be safe please Ryouji-san, Hisomu-san." He says, giving them each another quick bow as well before he moves to stand with Michiko. He prepares to follow the Tokutoku while keeping his hood low over his face to keep the rain out. "Hopefully the rain will help keep our scents to a minimum."

Michiko has no idea… but as Yori said, they might be able to make it work with the heavy rain. She just took to the rooftops and watched Ryouji and Hisomu travel. As they move, it would be possible to notice that there was someone tailing them. Thanks to the rain, it was a bit more obvious that two someone's were trailing after Ryouji, different from his friends. Michiko glances to Yori to make sure he knows of the existence of civilians might interfering.
Ryouji walks along with Hisomu. His senses are keenly aware of…nothing. He's not picking anything up but hopes that those with better senses will pick up whoever it is that's following them. His walking cane taps out on the cobblestone floor with each step.
A frown on her face as she walks along and Hisomu pouts a little at her 'grandpa', "How much farther do we have to go in the rain, grandpa? My dress is getting all wet." She nods her head and then looks down at it and then shakes her head as she walks along. S he isn't aware of much either as she moves.
Yori moves with Michiko, staying out of sight and pretending like he's just another villager avoiding the rain. His hitai-ate is hidden beneath his cloak so there's not really anything to give him away as he goes along. He makes sure to be able to keep the old man and his daughter in sight as they go, glancing around from under the hood of the cloak to try and watch for danger. But he is apparently rather blind.
Michiko can sense the criminal, but she didn't sure who it is. And she'd rather not report about down thing and have people worry, but… "Yori-san. Someone seems to be on their tail. They've been following for some time now. An open area is up ahead, so they could be ambushed if they're not careful. We can go and meet the new person, or we can simply wait and see if they're hostile." They haven't moved yet, giving people time to plan and otherwise do things.

Ryouji looks over at Hisomu and frowns back at her. "Now now, you must be patient in this. Patience is important in any endenvor." He stops and perks his head up, "Yes, yes it is." Then keeps walking, "It's true, we should get out of the rain." He points to a back alley where the roofs semi protect the surface from the downpour. Then turns down the darkened alley but at least they're not being rained on much anymore.

She notes something is off even as they move down the alleyway, "Well, at least we aren't going to stay soaked." She sticks out a tongue at the idea. Hisomu follows after him and for now, continues to play the part of a displeased rich girl.
Yori just nods, not offering any useful ideas either way. Really he's so far not in any type of authoratative position in this mission, he's surprised he's even spoken as much as he has. He is set to just follow the others as well as he can and hope not to get left in the dust. Whatever thoughts he has he keeps completely to himself.

When Ryouji decides to stop earlier than expected, that's when they are attacked! The Maneshi duo move against the two they want. The cat half attacks Ryouji, thinking an old man couldn't do much. And then the human half goes for Hisomu, a spinning whirlwind as both attack with their claws extended.

Michiko is no sensor and doesn't feel the spike of chakra, but she can tell that their movements have shifted enough that it could be worrisome. "Hmm… Dang… They're moving faster than I thought…" she murmurs softly, speeding up a bit after updating a Saito. "Honestly… How is this all not suspicious?" she wonders. "And where is all the people…" she then wonders, realizing that everyone is inside. Or a lot of them went indoors to take shelter.
Ryouji turns and sees the tsuga spinning towards him. He says, "Oh my…" getting nailed dead on by the spinning force. Chunks of clothes rip apart and the cane spins away to smack against the wall and shatter. The body of Ryouji goes bouncing away and hits the wall on the other side of the alleyway with the sound of metal crashing. A trash can poofs into existence where Ryouji hit the wall, its twisted and bent in side evidence of what the cat really hit. Ryouji leaps down from a fire escape, now dropping the henge and appearing as himself. "Avalanche drop!" he shouts out as he leg drops at the maneshi. He impacts hard, probably blowing a good chunk out of the ground out in the process, and follows up with several speedy punches.

WHen the attacks come in, the henge falls and she turns quickly. She slides back along the ground as she makes the earth help her dodge and then the second attack hits her. Well, it hits a clone that vanishes. She then is standing behind the attacking woman as she breathes in and then spits out a spary of purple and green fluid even as the Earth smashes upward toward the woman to attempt to drain her, poison her, and then just knock her away.
Yori frowns faintly as he follows after Michiko, eyes checking around to make sure that no one tries to sneak up on them or anything on their way to check on the other two. There's not really much he can do at the moment besides follow long, so that's what he does.

Michiko finally gets to the scene of attack, watching for a few moments to take in what all is going on. It seems Ryouji is holding his own, as is Hisomu, as each are able to get one of their attacks in. Ryouji actually got in two! The girl starts to form seals, then, saying, "Yori-san, Hisomu-san! Try to focus on the cat while Ryouji-kun and I work on the criminal… We can't let them work together and help each other," she calls to them. Not that the strategy hasn't been used before, but two on one might make the fight a bit more even.
Michiko unleashes a spray of muddy bullets, easier to do due to the rain, and it manages to strike Namikaru, making him turn his feral eyes towards her. The man makes a seal, and lightning sparks along his limbs much like a Yotsuki as he goes down to all fours and does a spinning attack aimed at Michiko, lightning imbued to make it that much more difficult to block. His companion, Mikan, focuses his attentions on the two genin. The cat, now that they might get a good look, is oversized, about as large as a small bear. It crouches down, tail lashing as it considers the two… Then sparks of lightning fly from its fur.

Ryouji brings lightning cutter out, flexing his wrist as lighting courses though the blade. It clashes against the lighting tsuga, but even being pushed back, Ryouji holds his own and stays standing. He brings the lightning imbued blade forward in a stab, then slashes with it to try to drive the maneshi back. "No problem, Michiko-chan! Divide and conquer."

Trying her best to avoid the incoming attack, she instead ends up zapped and unable to create a clone in time. She frowns and then unleashes a deluge of green spray from her mouth toward the shocking feline and then clears her throat as she steps back and glares at the cat. She shakes her head, "It will be done."

Yori nods to Michiko when she gives him his assignment and he steps over next to Hisomu, moving into a ready stance. When the lightning attack comes he hops back quickly, then flashes forward to try and drive an elbow in the cats side before spinning, his arm rising out from under the cloak to show the vambraces beneath, and attempts to bring the metal down swiftly on the Maneshi ninken's head.

Mikan is unlucky enough to suffer much at the hands of the two genin. Not only does he have this nasty poison spit ruining his fur, he also has a headache from Yori punching him! How rude! The cat snarls at both, gathering chakra and zapping the two even more than last time, hopefully successful. Namikaru is unable to break through the Kumo-nin's defenses, even with the lightning. When he sees his partner starting to go down, he panics and immediately summons a lightning storm that would likely hit anyone in the immediate vicinity that wasn't his partner.
Michiko is able to erect a metal dome that disperses the lightning, eyeing Namikaru as he avoids her attacks. She shakes her head a bit, then tries to adjust her tactics. But first, she has to withstand the lightning that's coming at her from all sides. She extends her shield so that it completely surrounds her, then it moves, elongating and narrowing into metallic ropes that lash out to grab the Maneshi.

The lightning and eletricity comes the way of Yori and Hisomu and while one blast gets through that Yori will be on his own for, Hisomu is able to put up a bit dome of Earth over both of them that deflects a great deal of the lightning. She then releases it to send three stone columns right toward the cat that is attacking them, "Lets finish this!" She sounds frustrated and even as she does she can hear, <You aren't having any fun, child. You should enjoy battle, enjoy the fight more! Let me out and we can have a blast.>

Yori grits his teeth as lightning soaks through his frame before he can move. Ouch. He takes a breath as he puts the pain away for now and moves in towards the cat to attack, following behind the stone columns before flashing for to one side to strike, then the other.

The Maneshi can't avoid the metal bindings that snake out and around his wrists. They force him back to the ground despite the leap he took to try and avoid them, allowing Michiko to burn him to a crisp. Even though it's raining, she's still able to give the man quite a bad burn, allowing for him to simply pass out. His cat isn't so lucky, though, as it takes blow after blow from earth and punches. Well, that's two. Michiko looks around the scene at the downed criminal. "Hmm… 4 on 2 might have been a bit much since he didn't have any goons, but that worked out well…" she notes. A glance to the genin. "Let's go back to Kumo after we turn them in." She and Ryouji go to turn them in, and the genin can either come with or wait at the gates until they set off. Mission complete!
