"Training: Step Firm but Lightly"
Training Area #26 - Genin Training
Kyuketsuki was given a task today, a simple one, but still a somewhat serious task. He was tasked with teaching a Genin how to tree and water walk. Kyu would wait for day to break and would be in the training grounds. He was waiting by one of the taller trees, and not doing much. He had already sent word to Kagetsu, and was waiting patiently. Of note his almost iconic cloak was replaced -still- by a plain black hooded cloak though it does now have the Uchiha symbol stitched onto the back.
Kagetsu would receive the request to show up at training and of course would do so promptly. He'd have his typical garb on, the cherry glow of his cigarette standing out as he'd walk through the shadows of the trees in that early morn to where Kyu said to meet him. A formal bow is given then with a smile. "Kyuketsuki-sensei. I received your message and as requested I'm here now."
Kyu sees his arrival and offers a formal bow in return. "Thank you for coming, Kagetsu-san. I was tasked with helping teach you the Tree Walking and Water Walking techniques. I don't know how much you know already, so you tell me, should I go through the basics?" Kyu awaits Kagetsu's answer.
Kagetsu nods in reply. "Hai.. I understand the basics, Sensei. However, I've never really applied them. I am actually versed in shaping chakra already, but that's always been associated with the smoke I use, or the shadows. So I'll probably need only a little training to fully grasp the capability."
Kyu nods. "I see. Well!" Kyu then flips up an back landing on the surface of the tree, looking down at Kagetsu. "You know if you focus too much chakra, you'll launch yourself off, too little, and you'll slip." Kyu looks behind him, and up the tree, "this will be an easy task." Kyu turns and casually walks up the tree, pulling out a kunai. After walking far enough up the tree to where the only way to run that high is with using the tree walking technique, or cheating, he stabs the kunai into the tree, before flipping back and off the tree, landing near Kagetsu. "There. Your task is to retrieve the kunai, without jumping or using jutsu, besides the tree walking technique."
Kagetsu nods slightly, watching Kyu as he'd walk up the tree. Glancing to Kyu as he'd land, then at the tree itself, he'd muse for a moment. "Hmm.." Moving to the tree's base, he'd plant his foot, studying it as he'd focus himself. "I've.. done a little something like this. Chakra shaping through my feet. For the shadows.. I suppose it's the same thing with a different target?"
Kyu hums and nods. "I suppose that is correct, just kind of think of it like magnetism. Find the right level to match the tree." Kyu nods and observes, eyes suddenly flashing red, the Sharingan appearing, although pale, as Kyu observes his chakra levels. Kyu does have the advantage of being able to advise more or less chakra as long as he has the Sharingan active. "A tiny bit more chakra, and I think that'd be perfect. Then just hold that while running up."
Kagetsu nods in response to Kyu, carefully maintaining that chakra flow to add that bit more as he mentioned. It seems the genin was already good at chakra molding and that added alignment of help from Kyu gives him the proper amount to use. With that done, he'd start to slowly walk up the tree. Each step is careful, a pause between them as he'd shift the chakra from foot to foot. So it's not exactly a run, but a slow walk up that gets him close to that kunai.
Kyu watches and is honestly impressed with just how much control Kagetsu has. Kyu says nothing as not to break his focus, but continues to observe closely, seems this task won't be as difficult after all. He can't help but remember how he started off with tree walking, he was good, but not this good. At this rate this training may only take one or two sessions!
Kagetsu finishes that approach on the tree, bending over to grab the kunai is when one of his feet slips, having him start to fall. He grabs the blade, hand planting to the tree as well as both feet with a flash of chakra, causing him to skid to a stop with a small hiss of pain. Well.. that just sucked for his hand. Shaking his head, he'd carefully stand up, feeling a bit more confident even after the slip to walk back down, offering the kunai to Kyu. "I'll.. need to work on it a bit more for other motions it seems. But I understand the concept now, Sensei."
Kyu's Sharingan fades and Kyu nods, and he takes the kunai back. "You did extremely well. Is your hand okay? I can help fix that before we move on to water walking." Kyu would give Kagetsu the time to respond, and would either move on towards the river, or heal his hand with a light healing Ninjutsu. Once at the small river, Kyu continues walking right onto it. "Now, this is a bit more difficult. The surface of the water is constantly shifting and moving, rippling and forcing you to adjust how much chakra you're using to stay afloat. This one is a bit harder for me to give advise for. My best advice would be to pay very close attention to whether you're sinking or not, or if you're focusing too much chakra and shaking the water. Start at the same chakra level you used for the tree, and adjust accordingly." Kyu is a bit concerned. "Though my advice would also be, please stay in the shallower areas. I didn't bring any towels with me even though I really should have."
Kagetsu nods and holds his hand out. The splinters were fierce, but it wasn't anything too bad. He'd let Kyu fix it, then go with him for the river. Kagetsu studies the water for a long moment. "Same level as the tree.. but it's a variable. Fluctuation like dealing with smoke.." He nods slightly, glances to Kyu with a flashed smile and moves to the edge of the water. Focusing himself, he'd slowly and carefully step out onto the water's surface. Staying at that shallow as he'd bobble on the water, getting use to that feel.
Kyu watches Kagetsu and is once again impressed by his control. Far beyond his own abilities. Kyu's Sharingan pops up once again, maybe Kyu could learn something from him from this training. "Well I'll admit you're making me a tad jealous of how well you control your chakra, this training must feel like a joke to you." Kyu laughs softly. "Took me quite a lot of training to get anywhere close to what you're doing."
Kagetsu chuckles quietly as he'd continue to bobble on the water, getting a feel for it. "It's nature of the jutsu I suppose. The smoke I manipulate is fluid. I've never had to do it via my feet.. but.. the whole.. shifting constantly is very much there." He'd glance over at Kyu with a grin, stumble slightly and recover himself. "Ahh.. sorry. It's not precise.. But you did a good job of explaining what I'm looking for. I'm not going overboard.. waste of chakra.. but too little can be an issue too."
Kyu nods. "I see. I need to work on my own chakra control as well. I am good at it, but there is always room for improvement." Kyu nods. "Well, there isn't much else I can do or tell you, you seem to get the concept way better than even I do. I don't work with many jutsu that require extreme chakra shaping. Maybe my Genjutsu but it's more of a brute force method." Kyu hums lightly, and starts heading back to shore. "Just keep practicing. You look like you might already have it. Keep doing it and it'll become second nature in no time!"
Kagetsu nods to Kyu. "I suspect it'll be much the same for you, Sensei. Genjutsu helps a lot with control of chakra.. This is just very similar to things I already do. So it makes sense to be easy to handle. I don't necessarily have a brute force genjutsu style. So I can appreciate the need for control, hai?" He'd keep up his practice on that water, slowly walking further out, getting a feel for what the stronger current does with the requirements.
Kyu smiles and nods. "I got it faster than the other Genin that were training with me at the time. But you just blew my progress out of the water." Kyu shrugs. "Do you have any questions then? I have nothing else I can teach you. Practice from here is all you need." Kyu doesn't want to just abandon Kagetsu, but there isn't anything else for him to do here! Mission accomplished? ;w;
Kagetsu chuckles quietly. "I've.. been dealing with similar things. I sort of learned shaping ahead of the basics. I guess. Thank you Sensei. You were a definite help, especially with the Sharingan." Kagetsu would bow to Kyu from atop the water, smiling as he didn't get dumped despite not paying full attention to it. "I will practice to show that your training helped a lot, Sensei."
