An escort mission with a young sexist peddler makes tensions high.
"Young Blood and No Respect"
Road heading north from Kumogakure
Delivery of goods. This was a rather quick and easy task, usually D-rank in pay grade. Unfortunately, this task has recently been ranked higher by a degree for one simple reason. It wasn't more than a month ago that Kumogakure had banded together to destroy an organization that was slowly encroaching upon their authority, but only their main hideout. This shattered them, but it didn't completely remove all activity completely. Instead, it only caused them to become more desperate. That is why this simple mission of transporting goods across the many mountain paths surrounding Kumogakure to the north was classified as a C-rank. It was far more dangerous to do business in this land…
This trader would be waiting for the group of assigned to him outside of Kumogakure, but close enough to be within its protection. There was still scoring along many of the rock faces, burnt black by explosions… It was an unfortunate thing that had happened to their home. Yet, for now the challenges to Kumogakure's authority grow thin…
Sakuya would not be the first individual to arrive to meet this man. She had brought along Zuzu as usual, whom no longer hides so suspiciously under her clothing, but has matured into simply wrapping around her arms… Oh does he miss the warmth that it provided though. «Glad to be back and doing something. Extended leave was bothersome. At least Yori has his paperwork.» She would communicate to her snake as she arrived to look upon a rather large beast of burden whom the merchant was using to pull his load. »You did find comfort in the words of the priests, though.«
Sakuya wasn't going to be the first to approach and speak to the merchant whom contacted the village for help. That was obviously Yori's job…
After all, he was a shiny new Toukubetsu Jounin. He had to handle the dialogue. She was just a measly genin!
Sachiko figured she should probably do some missions beyond dealing with rogue teens and this was the only one she found that looked like she could be of use. So here she was, meandering up beside Sakuya and nodding over to her. The redhead is blindfolded, as usual, but still she seems to look at the man and his beast of burden, humming thoughtfully at it. She doesn't say much, just waits for the rest of the team… whoever that may be.
Hanami needed something to do, being cooped up in Kumo rebuilding and all was getting her a bit stir crazy. So a simple escort and deliver mission, why not? So off she went, and eventually arrived spotting Sakuya and Sachiko, "Hey you two, been awhile. More so with you Sakuya, and Zuzu too of course, hope you're well?" She eyes the merchant and goods and shakes out her limbs getting ready.
Yori was here and he was in charge from the looks of things! After reading over the information that they'd been given he would meet up with the others and…wait, Sachiko was here? Oh boy. He would bow to all of them as he tends to do despite rank, then move forward to bow to the merchant. "We're here to serve as your guard as requested sir. I am Saito Yorishiro, Tokubetsu Jounin." He looks back to the others and motions them forward to properly introduce themselves.
The mission requester was actually not much older the Hanami. A boy with an eye missing, bandages around it. Seems even youth can be successful in business sometimes. "Mornin', Saito Yorishiro. My name is Akiro." The red head raises a hand in a big 'thumbs up'. "Why… Why are there three girls though? Ninja are supposed to be tough…" He says, which is kind of typical of a young boy. Girls are soft, boys are strong. It's… a cultural expectation in rice country. "Right, anyways… I don't really care about the girl's names. They're just girls…" The boy grunts as he pats his draft horse to get going… Rude…
Sakuya was just about to introduce herself too, but the nerve of the kid caused her to decide against it… Instead, she would greet Hanami and Sachiko. "Hanami-chan. Long time no see, indeed." She would bow deeply to the other Kunoichi… "You're one of the many things I missed when I was gone." She then turned and looked between Sachiko and Yori… Uh oh… Maybe she gets to see what Sachiko told her was… 'The benefits of being the Raikage's wife.'
The woman twitches when she hears the exchange between Yori and their employer of sorts. "Excuse me, but are we really working for a /kid/? Where's your father? Unless you're in trouble or something, I don't think we can help you. I thought we were to make a delivery, but you're definitely not old enough to be running a business. It's kind of rude of the business owner to send a child with his cargo that /we/ apparently need to protect." Sachiko frowns deeply. "That's what you sound like, saying you don't care about the names of females. For your information, females /here/, in Kumogakure, fight alongside the males on equal ground. And before you go insulting females, maybe you should consider /who/ you're insulting. My name is Yotsuki-Iga Sachiko. I wonder if that rings any bells or you're just too dumb."
Hanami grits her teeth and her hand twitches by her chakrams, but no. That'd be rude. She pauses then smirks as she listens to Sachiko lay into the boy. Silly kid. She waits, then takes the opportunity when she sees a stray leaf fluttery in front of the boy on the wind. In a blur her hand moves and the leaf is cut in half right in front of him, letting him feel the stir of the air and the thunk of her chakram dig into a tree nearby, "Ah, whoops!" She just grins, because clearly that kind of strike takes quite the precision, speed, and skill. Definitely not a simple mistake. She just quietly retrieves her chakram and continues on, listening as she answers Sakuya a bit belatedly, "That's nice of you to say Sakuya, we'll have to catch up sometime when not on a mission. Good to see you back as well."
Even Yori kind of just stares in disbelief when the merchant says that girls are soft and that they're 'just girls'. "Ah, forgive me Akiro-san, but the kunoichi of Kumogakure have stories written about their bravery and ability. They are just as strong and even stronger than any males within the Village. I'm afraid that I can't have you disrespect my shinobi in such a way and expect them to be willing to help you. Um, I can say that if it's just me then we will be in very bad danger should we run into any trouble."
Sakuya wanted to fling something and say something too! She would roll her shoulders with a small smirk as Sachiko gets angry, and even Hanami… The most mature of all the ninja here! She thought so anyways, was throwing her chakram at the kid! «Zuzu, go and bite him! Do it for me! Come on, Hanami and Sachiko are showing me up… I can't handle that.» »Sakuya, why would I? He's clearly right when he said you were weak. I can't say the sssame of the other ladies, but you can't even lift a sixty pound weight for more than ten seconds.« Instead of the boy getting attacked by the Hebisuuhai, it was Zuzu that would be choked to near death…
Well, the boy was a little bothered by the entire scene. At one, he had to watch as the creepy girl choked her snake. That wasn't a dirty pun, she was literally choking her snake right now. One of the women was trying to show off, by surprising him by throwing a weapon to split a leaf. That was scary! The final one was biting his head off! He was quite annoyed. "I paid over a hundred thousand ryo, and I'm getting attacked for it…" He groans. Unfortunately, he is from rice country and doesn't really keep up with who marries what… Well, unless it was him marrying who. He totally plans to. "I'm surprised you don't think I am merchant material… Well! I'm going to take that as an insult against me and we'll call it even, okay?" He says as he shudders and starts moving off. If only they three women knew what he was thinking inside of his head. Probably thinking they were all barbaric or something! "Hey, uh… Saito Yorishiro… I won't disrespect them no more. Just make sure we get this to the northern port. It's important…"
"That was the point, you lump of slow-moving fat. We are certainly not even, however. You just insulted the Raikage's wife. I'll not be aiding someone who asks for help of people he knows nothing about. We don't need your money. We have plenty of people to help and they'll at least respect the people helping. You come to Kumogakure, you learn what would be disrespectful here. Same as if we went to your home. And if we accidentally insulted someone? We'd apologize because that's what CIVILIZED people do." Sachiko crosses her arms and turns her head in Yori's direction before turning it more as if to look over her shoulder at the girls.
Hanami gives Sachiko a nod when she glances her way, "That's true Sachiko. Though perhaps we should cut the boy some slack. After all, he's shown that he doesn't have much experience outside her land. This should be taken as a teaching opportunity for him. Educate him. I'm sure he's well aware of his mistake and is undoubtedly becoming better for the experience and wanting to make sure he chooses his words of apology carefully so we know how heartfelt they are." The last might be said with a look at the boy, or maybe not? She gives a nod to Sakuya, "Don't you agree Sakuya?" Then to Yori, "Now Yori, as we're going along do we know of any trouble spots? Likely places for ambushes and all?" With that she focuses her senses outward, casting her chakra out on the wind to get a scope of the area.

Yori frowns deeply at the other boy and shakes his head. "Akiro-san, I must ask that you apologize to my shinobi. As I said I don't know that they'll wish to defend you as well as they could if you do nothing but insult them." He doesn't even move to follow after the merchant, waiting for said apology before they start moving. He does give a glance over to Sakuya and Zuzu, giving a quick shake of his head to get her to stop trying to kill the snake.

Sakuya would sort of agree with Sachiko this time, sadly. "He ought to apologize, or we ought to walk away. Simple enough!" She says as she lets go of the snake, whom hisses at her. "He's one of those kind of guys who think Izanami put us upon the world to just satisfy them and make children… Uh… It's what that book I read once said…" At the same time, Hanami has a point… This is an obligation. Sometimes we have to put aside our extreme dislike of people and carry on. "Hanami does… have a point…." She sighs.
"If it'll get you to keep moving on, I'm sorry, alright? -I'm Sorry… … girls… …" He would grunt. "There. I apologized. I probably won't get a refund if I don't, and they all walk off on me… Come on then, we don't have long…"
The woman considers their reactions and the pulmonary apology from the employer. "That's not good enough for me… He's still talking about us as if we're more of a trouble than a help." Sachiko takes a breath. "I can be a bit pickier about the jobs I take, when it comes down to it… but if you need the money and-or want to represent Kumo for this dweeb, go ahead. I'll stay back." The truth of the matter is, the redhead will 'stay back' in that she'll follow after and keep an eye on the group from afar. If they /do/ run into any trouble, she can help her comrades, but she isn't going to help the brat himself.
Hanami sighs a bit, but didn't really expect anything less. "Well now, that's a start. Diplomacy is definitely something you might consider working on." She focuses on the area around them though and after a moment before looking to Yori, "We got people up ahead. Two groups, one coming toward us, seem casual enough. The second group though is up above in the rocks for an ambush."
Yori bows to Sachiko when she says she's going to stay behind. "I will not force any of you on this mission with such an abbrasive client," he says simply, hoping that the other kid is listening and perhaps learning from his mistakes. And then they're traveling. Yori stays near the front, as observant as he can be as they travel. Then Hanami gives her report and the teen frowns again before nodding. "Um, hai, thank you Hanami-san." He holds up a hand to have the merchant stop. "Um, there is trouble up ahead Akiro-san. I want you to stay here while we check it out, okay? Sakuya-chan, you stay with Akiro-san please. Be observant." With that he'd motion for Hanami to follow him as he started forward. He'd wait for the first group to pass before going near the rocks, not wanting to face two possible enemies at once. Plus if the traveling group attacked the wagon then he'd want to be able to go back to it and not be stuck fighting the ambushers.

Sakuya was surprised to hear that Sachiko wasn't coming along. It sort of makes her just as angry about the kid she was supposed to be protecting. Though, she can't blame her for not wanting to put up with it… She has the luxury of not needing to come along. She doesn't need the money as much as her poor pockets do… "… See you around Sachiko-chan…" She says with an angry grunt. Then… THEN they have the gall to make her stay with the boy? "Yori, that's…" she sighs and takes it. »Good girl, Sakuya. That's what it means to be a lowly genin of Kumogakure. Now, run along and catch up.«
Sakuya would have to deal with the kid as he spoke of his delusions of graduer. "When I get a wife, she'll make me dinner every day. No questions. She won't complain either, she'll be obedient!"…
Yori's plan was partially successful. He wouldn't be dealing with two groups. As the opposing carriage moves along, the people upon the ledge do not seem to move. That's when something went wrong… It seemed as if the people on the ledge suddenly started moving away. They did not decide to jump the first carriage. They seemed to be moving away. As if they were running away all of a sudden… Would Yori follow them?

As the group went on their way, Sachiko did two things. She discreetly deposited some of her sentries into the pockets and pouches of the shinobi. She would spread more out into the trees. The woman kept her distance from the group. Her lightning jutsu could reach a fair distance if needed, but for now she observes. Sticking to at least thirty yards away, she'd only get a teeny bit closer to Sakuya upon sensing some… interesting things. She waits to see if anything is about to go wrong, though, rather than give away her following already.
While waiting, she decided she may very well need a good reserve of chakra so she gathered it.

Hanami gives Yori a quick nod and Sakuya a smile, knowing she'll be alright guarding the boy. With that she moves up to Yori quickly and follows his lead with letting the first group pass while keeping her senses alert for any changes, leaving a hand on her chakram ready to go. Noticing the people on the rocks moving away gives her pause.

When the group ahead begins to retreat Yori watches them for a short time before he looks back to Hanami and motions for them to return to the wagon. He wanted to make sure the group that passed wasn't causing any problems. "See if you can keep up with them using your wind Hanami-san," he says motioning to the ones retreating from the rocks. "If they come back or circle around let me know please." And then they'd go back to check on the wagon and the other group that had passed…

Sakuya wasn't the most perceptive individual, and when the caravan was approaching their objective of protection, she actually saw them waving nicely as if they were indeed just passerbys. "Really don't think we're actually going to be attacked." Sakuya would motion. "Keep your eyes peeled to the ridgeline though, whatever your name was-san." Did she give a platelet about his name? As much as he gave a vein about her gender, apparently. When the friendly carriage went by, she didn't notice anything was off, but it was indeed true that they were actually the very individuals that they were trying to protect this merchant from. Bandits. The usual sort. They all had some training though. Even as they came up from behind, Zuzu was there to keep her in line. She was able to side-step the first swing from the first of the group of men. The second would take a lock of her hair as she dodged backwards… At that point, she quickly focused chakra into Zuzu. «Zuzu, come on! Quick!» She says as the snake quickly straightened out and became solid and black. The final swordsman would be dodged when Sakuya pole-vaulted over him with the snake-turned weapon. "Not ideal…" She says as she crouches and swings her staff very low to knock each one of the bandits off their feet. Three versus one was not good odds…

The woman saw that Sakuya was being attacked and approached closer. She still stayed in hiding as well as she could. Didn't seem like anyone was looking behind them, really, so it wasn't horribly difficult. She watched the Hebisuuhai fight, not interfering as of yet. She seemed to be taking care of herself quite well. Sachiko does, however, remove her blindfold to better keep track of what's going on at this distance. The rude kid seems okay so far, at least…
Hanami watches the retreating people as well when she turns to follow Yori back, "Sure thing, best to keep an eye on them." As they get near the wagon though it's clear that for the moment the other group would have to wait as Hanami spots the people attacking Sakuya, "Artery…" Her chakrams fly from her hands with a whoosh as they each aim for an opponent. "Yori, think merchant-boy opened his mouth again and pissed these people off too?" This was said lightly, with a grim smirk on her face.

"Um, I doubt it Hanami-san," Yori says as she asks her question. He considers for only a moment before he draws his blade annnnnd vanishes. He passes through the three men and reappears finally on the other side, half turning to look back at the silly bandits. He wasn't going to let him hurt the client and he sure as hell wasn't happy they were trying to hurt Sakuya. So…he didn't really bother holding back.

Leave it to Yori to kill a bunch of people really fast and not seem bothered that he slaughtered them all. It was with all three strikes that the weak bandits were unable keep together, and soon split apart into two upon the ground. If there were any other bandits in wait (There were, the ones that had run off earlier) they would have taken that as a reason to get right out of there…
At the same time, Yori was so awesome in dispatching that the Caravan owner raised his hands and cheered. "See! I told you! The girls didn't do as near as well as you, you're a real Shinobi!" That sort of undermined Sakuya, Hanami, and Sachiko in the end, but… at least it was over right? The rest of the trip actually went pretty smoothly… If Sachiko didn't kill the boy first!
