Double Slash

Double Slash is a Kenjutsu attack that involves slashing swiftly twice in a row with a single blade. A cut in one direction is attempted, and then the blade is immediately reversed and swept back in the other direction. The speed at which this occurs means that if the first slash hits then the attack itself was performed so quickly that there is simply no time to dodge the blade on its return journey.

Speed, reflexes, and manual dexterity are all paramount in the success of Double Slash. If a single error is made in the initial slash, it will typically lead to BOTH cuts missing entirely. Not enough speed or not enough of a precise cut or both factors can foul up the attack utterly. Only a clumsy foe would fail to avoid such an erroneous technique.

Because of the excellent speed required for Double Slash, it is possible to use it in retaliation against a melee attack by cutting the opponent twice before his or her own attacks can land even once.
