Third Degree
Amongst police, the third degree is a euphamism for using physical and/or emotional battery on a prisoner, usually for the purpose of extracting a confession or information. Such practices are typically regarded as unreliable at best and inhumane at worst by civilized nations, though that certainly doesn't prevent its use entirely.
In battle, on the other hand, the objective is usually to outright kill one's enemy, so delivering a survivable beating is generally relatively tame. The Just Realities technique Third Degree takes things a step further by inflicting only mental damage. The target is subjected in their mind to the experience of being brutalized while helpless. This has the effect of tiring the target psychically.
