Through a long period of painful and intense training, using particular techniques of striking oneself, or against training dummies and posts, the martial artist has literally toughened his skin and muscle. This conditioning prevents serious injury from several types of blunt attacks. Please note, this skill can only be used against things that are blunt as a sharp water needle or something of that nature could penetrate even the hardened skin.
